this is part 2 last video I brought the block up this video we're going to form it I'm going to pour it here we go [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] three words going around we put this board right over here and we got a little pitch right [Music] let's look what's going on here we got this filled with John Carpenter came out he put a board here we've got this board here we've got a pitch from there to here now I filled that in I'm gonna throw some sand in there oh I got the plastic down because they don't want the concrete I don't want the concrete touching this they don't want the concrete getting behind there I want the concrete to float on top of the pad and it could expand and contract and do what I once use once concrete touches something that's where you're gonna get your tracks I'm using these red bags fast drying cement that's 40 degrees out here tonight I want to get the job done start mixing it up it's all pre-made I don't have to add any size or anything put it in mixing it up pretty good start sprawling it in and ask me wait how come you don't to use a cement mixer then I might go get the super mixer and clean it and everything else is to be done with the job [Music] against air usually get some water and wet plate forms open that's gonna make it sell a little bit better like dad you bring my three here again I want this plastic just make sure the plastic game chill [Music] just like that [Music] [Music] [Music] the corners make sure you know good tub in there [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] when we get there like I said I'm using my little edger here just going around the sides I'm not going down with them just floating it on top fold it on top I'm gonna go over it again this is the first time I'm doing this right now just for heck of it my level does I want to make absolutely sure no water is gonna lay on this and they don't want any puddles see that got a little bit up there if you have time you can do this sometimes you don't have time we need to make sure water is not gonna lay in there don't have any holes underneath me see that see enough to make my squirrels in now the old timers never use Falls use pieces of wood to buy cores I use my edger and you can pick these up anywhere any hardware store and you know your edges are good just float right over the top of it cover it and that's it come back in a couple days so that's it for today I'll come back a couple days take the forms off and plaster it up [Music] [Music] now let's look what's going on we took the forms off but this is cold weather I poured this one it was 45 degrees and it didn't go below freezing but when you took the forms off in the morning some of the skin came off so that's no big deal we're going to patch it up rub some cement in there I'm gonna show you how I do that if you remember I got the plastic under here so all I'm doing is getting some Portland cement mix it into like not a paints but like a paste just like this for now just a little water to it lift up my slurry and this is still wet this concrete is still wet so we don't have to wet it up we're just filling in the holes that's it no big deal yeah covering up all those sins as I call them we're gonna get a little bucket of water with a sponge just kind of over the top of it hide all those sins you got just flatten that all over a little big deal see a little spot get your rubber glove fill it in Oh big deal that's it continuing on if that poor limb we're right in there just like that tight all those sins come up from the bottom so we're going over here - yeah hides all those sins as I call it let's talk about the foundation here if you remember I put these blocks in and then I plastered it this is real thin and this was real kick anytime you use traditional cement mortar Portland its if it dries slower it's gonna be darker if it dries faster it's gonna be lighter so I want to kind of disguise that so all I'm gonna do is I took the get my sprayer I'm gonna whip this all up I'm gonna Tate it with Portland and that's gonna hide all those sins but first thing is you got a wet a good book you know it's sucking in don't let them tell you that's a minute waterproof it's not so we're gonna make a good little and make it wet here see how it's sucking the water in kind of wait until us good this which I made into a paint and paint everything is gonna look the same you see what I mean you don't have to replaster it again just like that Oh big deal now if you watch my previous video lock build-up before porch steps I explain how I always put a piece of shingle or black paper or something so that was this concrete moves that's something to slide over that's the way we've been doing it in Pennsylvania my dad's been in business seventy years we don't have a problem if you have a real small area it might not matter but when you're getting over six feet you're going to be getting cracks in your concrete you're going to be getting cracks along your block linemen and I have a playlist called masonry porches mic attic cuz I have other videos called how I build a concrete porch with deck pans I show you how I do it that way another video how a smooth finished concrete part one and another one building a stone porch mic attic and in those videos a I show the same techniques as I use here so I hope you get something out of these videos when I use that quikrete concrete if I was doing that outside I tried a couple shovels of Portland and it may be because I think it's a little too weak for Pennsylvania cold weather I poured that when it was like 40 degrees I'd like to go three days without it freezing the utilities come in and he ripped the sidewalks in Newport when it's 20 degrees and sometimes they'll get away with it so it all depends on the area you live in I also have a site on Amazon you'll see it in the About section where the tools I use for concrete you could maybe purchase them so thanks for watching I'm Mike addict until next video [Music]
