[Music] [Applause] [Music] we're back and television history is in the making let's check in again with Jose and Dan see how they're doing guys what's going on yeah after 35 tickets we won $14 that's seven cents alright now it's time to sweeten the pot just a little bit I do okay in television if you know what I mean in the commercial break I went to the local store little store it there and I got three extra tickets that I'm going to add to the kitty right now increasing our chances a little bit don't you think you take these tickets back and add them to it now keep in mind folks this means if one of those three tickets hits I'd like to be cut in on that okay it's only fair all right you know my first guest for providing the voices of many Springfield residents on The Simpsons he also stars in the Showtime series huff and is currently appearing on Broadway in the hit show Spamalot please welcome Hank Azaria [Applause] good man thanks for being here [Applause] oh that's a good springsteen you go in there thank you for knowing knowing always brings me yeah now I want to ask you the Simpsons just did this is unbelievable to me because I work there years and years ago when it wasn't a cartoon it was a was a live theater show page page yeah I was an intern when I was there I think we were we still hadn't done that many episodes now there's 300 and the 350th episode yeah right there yeah three unbelievable congratulations yeah this is thanks a lot now you uh that was very sincere and you of course I think a lot of people by now know and so many fans of the show out there you do chief Wiggum you do Moe the bartender you're sure I approve course yeah and but you are responsible for a lot of these characters that are more obscure than and I don't think and and I think they're a lot of fans that aren't quite sure who's doing that voice for example there's the the comic book guy the comic book nerd yes of course and this this guy of caves is based on someone that you knew is that right what's your he's based on I got at living next door to me freshman year of college right and his name was if I don't never know I don't know ever knew his real name we just knew him as F right and he was tremendously nerdy and he it was a little tiny dorm room we lived and he had a big Barcalounger in it that he'd sit in and he constantly played the song 867-5309 all hours days I'm not kidding that's an annoying song oh my god all day long right turn it off shut up make it you're on my list you really had a scary guy list if you didn't like you know bosz posted pores in your colors yeah yeah he would make a bottom five in a top five list Wow we liked it he's probably a serial killer now God knows we can only hope I don't think a lot of people know that you do you do an amazing William Shatner impression well I'm like most my impressions are kind of bad but I do one anyway yeah right you do a Shatner impression and and there's a secret to your shanton impression there's their stages to it well I used to I did a really bad stand-up act in LA a long time ago and one of the impressions I would do was Captain Kirk going to the bathroom really yeah thanks do you wonder why my denim career ended quickly oh really no and so that that went something like like this okay you mind if I know Stan please Captain Kirk going to bathroom that's the two stage paint paint no matter where he was hit if you noticed in the [Laughter] Meisner technique and is somewhere in Canada he learned that now you used to do voiceovers and commercials oh yeah and then you stopped abruptly what why do I mean you've had a lot of success here I don't need to do it but there's still big celebrities that like to do it for cash you stopped something made you stop I hated it I did the Simpsons first and got very spoiled by how good the writing was and how fun and free it was and everything and then like well after doing it for a lot of years oh my god I might as well try to do some commercial voiceovers and stuff and I did it for a couple years and its really lame and insipid most the time and it was driving me insane right and the last one for me was they were doing an ad campaign for jello man which was a jello man which was a computer-generated computer animated jello oh that lived in your refrigerator mm-hmm and they needed a voice for it right so you know I went to do the audition and it seemed to me like he was a vagrant jello man if he lived in your that was my artistic take choice was that he's he's a homeless person exactly they would have like this mentality at the Simpsons they like this kind of thinking right right so I did a voice like this hey I'm gentle man how I shut the door and the casting director lady went okay that was very good but jello man you know he shouldn't he should have an edge like you gave him but we don't want him to frighten the children he want the children to like jello man and she went on and on and on and as she's talking I knew that this was going to be my last moment voiceover audition week snapping in your brain I do I knew I was done I really knew I was done and she went on long enough for me to really work something up he's that way to go out with a bang and she finished talking and wanted me to do a second take and I just went you do know that jello man's not real don't you right you just wear out the door though say I mean I I admire your talents but I kind of agree with her your choice my choice I don't love the choice because usually when they make a character who you're supposed to eat like a candy bar or something it always sounds like hi everybody but you're guys like I could have talked to you before you went in there now you're doing brought this show you realize the jello man is not real right I don't actually you shattered a dream for me I never want to see you again now spam a lot this show is a is a huge success the show and and when I first heard that you were doing and I thought I didn't realize that you you sing and you dance well you know not really no no tremendous I handicapped are trying to do a Broadway musical right right it's not being able to sing and dance right well they've I mean you have you trot you've clearly walked right yeah yeah I'd like the dickens yeah but no they they I'm really there to do most of the wacky crazy voices and they gave me less and less Inge and dancing as time went on I mean stuff that you know the choreographer was so patient with me a great guy named Casey Kalani's assistant Darlene Wilson and they give me dance moves that everybody else would get in a day maybe three right yeah after three weeks of trying I would like to present that like they wanted me to this thing called the washing machine which is a dance move okay where's know what that is it's just really it's it's not something you want to see me do okay the washing machine goes like this and by the way they've cut this from the show they don't know how to do this on stage right a washing machine is like this basically I look like Jackie so I did that I showed them that right and they and the photographer looked at me much like you did he went staring at my crotch region by the way is also doing I've gone before the washing machine you know I'm a human yeah staring down at my midsection like this yes I was like did I not do that right he goes no no you did it right yeah and it's just that that's a horror show then yeah I never do that again if you combine that move with jello man's voice you'd have had pervert there Spamalot huge success no one can get tickets for this show it's a it's a sensations now playing and things they don't let us into performances people come in and look at an empty stage it's playing at the Shubert theater on Broadway in New York City thank you so much for doing it [Applause] check in with Jose and Dan let's see how they're doing guys guys what's the latest after 75 tickets $69 34 and a half cents a person yeah okay thank you serious thank you we'll take a break we come back George furniture [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
