direction she was supposed to host the previous show but her internet has just been being a butt today was happy to fill in but you know if you see a nuclear around center some extra love it's always stressful when that happens but tonight we we had a bit of a donkey kong episode but one of the uh the runners had to cancel unfortunately so we swapped in some castlevania so uh what do you think of the idea of donkey kong being a metroidvania ryan i would have to think of some convoluted way for for it to fit it's just sort of what happens sometimes when we have to swap a game last minute we had a themed show now we just have donkey kong and a castlevania game we're going to have fun either way so hope you all enjoy the show tonight just as a quick reminder sgdq 2022 is coming up soon june 26 reason for doing this show and then i turned it into a donkey kong show is that my birthday was on saturday ryan's was yesterday i was like hey let's do a birthday show [Music] so give ryan some belated happy birthdays and chat because i know a lot of you already threw me some happy birthdays on saturday and uh how you doing today ryan uh not not too bad bit bit tired but because of partying yesterday good reason to be tired exactly exactly so admittedly i didn't get that much time to practice this but um i managed to try to squeeze in a little bit right before uh setting up right now so pretty confident man how are you i'm doing well i had a really good weekend um i got fired from the show on saturday by richard he's we were talking about production and slack he's like what are you talking about you're not working on saturday it's your birthday so i got to take saturday off and i had a lot of fun that's a good reason that is nice so you had a good weekend over alden yeah i had a good weekend uh so why don't you give us a quick rundown of this category i don't think it's been seen a whole lot on this channel yeah okay so yeah it's it's a miscellaneous category so all dj coins also known as beat mario so when you get to the credits um after beating k rool then um there's a podium where it shows uh cranky's uh greatest video game heroes and um it's based off of how many dk coins uh those characters found so uh link yes that link has 19 yoshi has 29 and mario is 39 so to outrank mario you need to get all 40 dk points so hence the category oh so it's not like an extra boss this is literally just showboating over mario and proving that we are better than him exactly so there's gonna be a lot of uh mix in between the the four major categories like any percent worthless true ending and 102 for in terms of like tech and movement um to speed through this sounds like a lot of fun uh indeed do you have anything else you want to go over or just want to get right into it uh okay so this category has um so we're allowed to use the uh creme coin cheat uh to be able to access the lost world levels and um if i mess up activating the cheat at the start of the run i have to actually reset so it might waste like half a minute but uh shouldn't be too bad it's pretty easy to do but i just have to pay attention basically i believe all right so yeah with that um yeah i'll count down from three then and we can get the timer started so three two one go and yeah so first level um yeah so as i mentioned yeah that i'm gonna be trying to do the uh creme coin cheat at the start of the run so you're gonna see me going indoors and outdoors uh multiple times in the same door and um doing specific sets of movements avoiding collecting those two uh bananas in front of the door every time otherwise the cheat won't work so i need to uh do stuff like collect that banana bunch and then backtrack inside here um grab this balloon avoid these bananas again grab the banana bunch one more time and then re-enter that room and um there should be a cram coin that spawns in the middle of the room and um it'll be worth 75 credit points so uh normally for the lost road levels um you have to beat uh i'm sorry you have to pay 15 creme coins to access one of the lost world levels and there's five of them in total throughout the game so normally you're supposed to do that by beating beating the bosses and um also beating the bosses and uh doing all the bonuses in each level and um that would get you all 75 crime points but um if we did that then we would just be basically doing 102 so uh so this category to make it more fun to make it more fun and unique we um uh allow the creme coin cheat uh for this category and yeah with that um so this warp i took so the dk coin is right at the end of the warp so um it's the the fastest way to get it because uh normally in like any percent or something you would do a wrong work in that level um to save about four seconds but yeah since we need the dk coin then yeah we just do the normal work which is significantly easier and um yeah so there i did a uh trick called jedi boy so i guess it's a subsequent of a trick called um the big boy or a team throw super jump and um when your partner is coming back after you throw them horizontally into an enemy if you uh jump let go of the jump button and then re-grab the jump button then you'll um gain extra height so um the jedi boy that i did was like a big boy and then i got the dk coin from it and then dixie also hidden another enemy below afterwards so i was able to do a second uh big boy uh with one team through and then um the previous level i did was called luck adjust i was able to just jump into the work barrel without having to reach with the team thrower having to uh go further through the level to um what's it called to raise the water and then swim back and go into the the warp barrel uh my unintentionally took damage there so trying not to die uh normally you would just use a dixie's hover there and then um get the dk coin and then uh backtrack over those bees uh with her hover instead of slowly navigating with diddy trying to not get hit but um if i did hover onto the goal with dixie uh there was actually a risk of soft walking so at least i didn't have to take that chance because of that mistake so it kind of made it safer for the run and then yeah crows the biggest instance of rng so he um so after the first two hits that he'll uh bonk the nest and then um he has a 50 chance of having a fake egg come out of the out of the nest or a real egg which i got two fakes so that's like around average i guess like one i guess one one or two is like generally average but but ideally you would get uh zero figs in that fight and yeah depending on the cycle you lose about two to two and a half seconds perfect so uh top runners top runners might reset after like two fakes possibly or maybe three and yeah so this level um there's also again another wrong work at the beginning of this level but yet again i need to get the dk coin which is right after the mid barrel right here so temporary uh mount onto uh squidward the spider but um it's a little faster to uh dismount off of him afterwards so uh so yeah i just use them to get enough height basically to get the dk coin and then uh play through the rest of the level like you would in uh the regular workless category yeah this hasn't been explained yet uh we could we could talk about the role mechanics in this game for like 15 minutes um but the the general very simple explanation is rolling into enemies makes you go faster and each enemy you roll into increases that speed and extends your roll duration there's a lot of stuff behind the scenes that ryan's doing with his inputs to make that even better but that's if you ever see diddy just go zoom in real fast it's because of that that's going on exactly like rolling off of shallow shallow ledges and like yeah rolling through enemies is like the big one for keeping speed um in general i'm rolling and jumping because yeah again like the roll speed is faster than your normal run speed but then at the end of your roll if you don't roll through an enemy or off of a ledge then uh your roll will stop and we call that a dead roll which loses i think like a half a second if that happens so we always have to uh cancel uh the roll with the jump before the dead roll happens i'm gonna be trying for a trick called scrolling scroll oh i failed it oops all right let me try one more thing all right let me try one more i love the names of some of the tricks of donkey kong country i know right all right unfortunate depth but means i got another chance at trying the scrolling scroll so yeah basically uh what should happen if i get it is that the screen will scroll really fast to the right so i'm gonna try and uh glitch out the camera by um whoops shooting out of oh my gosh whoops shooting out of this barrel and landing oh my goodness and uh okay i'm choking a little bit so yeah shooting out of the barrel then landing on the tire before i land on the ground and it'll uh cause the camera to freak out but um yeah i keep miss timing a lot because uh either um i don't know i'm like missing uh barrel shots and stuff so yeah my movement's just like sloppy basically um leading up to it this time though [Music] oh wow i didn't get enough jump light this time this time though all right so i went in the barrel a little early i really want to show this off i might just skip it since i've lost like 30 years to trying 30 years oh my goodness okay not actually you know that's even worse than missing door skip and celeste yeah i probably wasted like a minute and a half just failing that over and over um yeah i've never actually failed it that many times in a row like more than more than two times is like actually two times already is pretty rare for me and like more than two is like unheard of until now so it is what it is so i don't get to show off the scrolling scroll but um alas i don't want to go over estimate just because i'm trying it over and over so yeah that that uh dk coin right there is the one and only dk coin that's in a bonus which um yeah since we don't need the uh creme coins like from oh well from the bonus games then uh yeah i just got the coin and then just failed the bonus instead of playing the rest of it and um after that then uh there i did another big boy uh to get into the work barrel to save about three seconds and then um when i swapped kongs i was supposed to uh trigger the goal um while swapping but uh for whatever reason uh they didn't face backwards when i swapped i think i forget exactly either i didn't turn around by accident or i was too far away but uh so since i'm kind of rambling i just only like half paying attention sometimes but yeah so this level um lava lagoon it uh see how the gimmick is at the uh whoops the water turns into lava and um our buddy uh clapper here uh when he like blows into the water it uh pulls it down blows into the lava it cools it down and turns it into water making able to swim instead of taking damage and um the dk coin is near the end of the level but it's not accessible through backtracking so um so yeah so because of that we have to actually display the whole level and there it is um if you shoot out of the warp barrel this water here will be lava by default and you'll also fall into the uh that barrel that's pointing at the goal and um you're forced to shoot into the goal after you take the work so um there's no way to do it with the work so yeah this level i might be quiet for a bit red hot ride some precise timings uh starting now [Music] okay i'm pretty confident now for the rest of this i just didn't want to miss that opening part i thought this was gonna be like through the whole level i was ready to be quiet and just watch yeah the opening part's like kind of scary um so if you uh miss time your uh jump after the dash then um you'll run oh what was he gonna say uh yeah you'll uh either take damage from the bees and lose randby and then that's a guaranteed death or uh you'll overshoot the bees and just uh not make it across to the next uh hot air balloon and then fall to your death so all those are like just auto scroller skips right like avoiding having to wait on the balloon yeah exactly it saves a very massive amount of time like i think it's like 45 seconds throughout the level and uh aside from uh when i triggered the goal there um was for the fanfare which i i just do that for like marathons and events to show off but it actually loses time like the gray dixie on top of like the regular dixie [Music] yeah for whatever reason like animal buddies aren't supposed to hit goal posts and um in that level i did a glitch called um move your signposts so i uh use a invisible object by clashing a beetle onto a slope and um with it it like you can like corrupt objects or move them sometimes so i was able to move the uh no randby sign to behind randby so i was able to use them in an unintended way for the latter half of the level because they're supposed to go through the no rambly sign before the halfway point and yeah then that saves a ton of time from not having to uh ride the hot air balloons like for the second half of the level basically and yeah so this next boss also has rng a little bit it's like way less impactful than crow uh cleaver so the cannon balls that dropped from the sky um [Music] land in one of four random positions so i think i got the worst one for the first one but it barely loses time it's like half a second maybe if even that and then trying a trick here called lava fly where dixie can just barely hover um all the way across the lava gap which uh skips having to wait for cleaver to come out of the lava on the left side and then uh lunge at you or stab at you with a sword and then um [Music] then the hooks would spawn then you would have to go all the way to the right side of the level to get the cannonball to hit him but um because i flew all the way across then the cannonball on the right side i was able to uh get it without having to wait and then cross afterwards and the flying diddy glitch just for this to show up i like all the extra swag glitches you're giving us so far [Laughter] i love doing it that one doesn't uh doesn't save or lose time at all so it's uh it's always worth it to go for it unlike the uh the randby one that was uh i think it loses like three and a half seconds around that oh which now i've got rambi again oh my goodness it's hard to control sometimes all right there you go yeah so randby double jumps i guess is not an intended mechanic i forgot to mention that so when you're doing a dash a dash jump with him then um if you let go of the jump button and re-grab it and then cancel your dash by pressing the opposite direction of where you're running so pressing back compared to whichever way you're going then um yeah he'll do a double jump in the year which um makes red hot ride possible with uh whoops with taking rambi all the way and then also um there's like small time saves in a lot of other spots uh throughout other levels with um with this double jump [Music] green things in the air i'm guessing the cloak enemies that are throwing barrels i was looking at chat just now so this time i remember to have it open for this run and we're getting a lot of people who just have fond memories of this game and are going oh my god while you're doing stuff to it so yep not going into any bonuses aside from that one that i failed on purpose and then um i guess the bonuses for the lost world levels they award you a dk coin instead of a crime coin so the lost world levels the bonuses are mandatory [Music] yeah this level is pretty hard to optimize like compared to like really good runners because um if you touch uh walls or corners you lose like all of your speed pretty much so um yeah it's very easy to lose like you know four or five six seconds compared to like a top runner just from like sloppy movement and sometimes it's hard to notice that you lose all that time until you like compare your run to someone else's room especially when it comes to like really tight platforming levels that you're losing time you don't know why sometimes just like putting them side by side just going oh oh okay absolutely oh gotta remember to re-enter this level to get the dk coin because uh it's faster to beat the level then um go and get the dk coin at the start and then start and select to exit up that makes sense yeah just so that you uh don't have to backtrack back to the start in one visit i think it's a very very small time save but but you know same time where you can ah i don't want to die that's a little sloppy movement all right so yeah going left for that dk coin like when i was a kid i felt like such a genius for finding that dk coin at like five years old and i was like oh my god you have to go left this is this absolutely ridiculous game design who would have ever imagined going left i know right you only go right in platformers what is this uh i failed the wrong work so um the two options are either to beat the level worthless or to uh die on purpose and try again uh because i i had the worst outcome for how i failed it because i overshot my throat into the into this guy all right there you go it should be better so for whatever reason if you uh throw dixie and damage her into the cutlass and go into the barrel and uh when he raises his swords up it has the same properties as uh what causes uh wrong works to happen so [Music] uh yeah so for whatever reason you can save like 25 seconds roughly uh by doing that wrong work it's one of the newer ones i got found out but um i i think it's like four or five years old at this point even though i said well newer yeah yeah is that one of those it just works we don't exactly know why kind of deals i think the people that like task this game or have really really deep knowledge of the game like could probably explain exactly why it works but i actually have no idea why it works yeah when i was first learning the this game uh last year february then um i followed the beginner tutorial that's from i think 2016. so it was before this wrong work was found out and then um then i decided to look at the world record run at the time to um to see if i'm missing anything and then i saw that wrong word for no i'm like oh wait uh i gotta learn this first before i start my run so i delayed my stream by like an hour to practice it well there was another wrong warp in the world six like the castle the newcastle crush wrong wordpress both um that wasn't in that tutorial too so i had to learn both and like just delay my stream a bit to make sure i learned it and then start a run yeah here's black ice battle so this level generally is like really i think it's really visually appealing because he can't see below you so you got to like memorize the level and um since we're doing it so fast compared to like you know like how you would casually like being careful and stuff and um yeah i think i think it's really cool looking in general when you [Music] do it cleanly yeah it looks impressive when you do it like that yep see i gotta try to make sure i don't fail oops don't fail this bonus because um so you can't try it again without uh taking a death and starting from the mid barrel or uh beating the level and then redoing the level up to that point so it's a very huge time loss if you feel that bonus which yeah if you like jump too early in the spot or too late then yeah it could be really devastating also i had the wrong muscle memory for the wrong category there i was supposed to uh do a goal swap there and uh to have the opposite kong order so that's why i just swapped kong's at the start of this level oh sorry good what just happened fine good luck i got hit i can't believe it so i don't know if this is going to work but i'm going to try anyway all right i don't think that worked yeah so this um okay that's a very massive time loss but um yeah what was i trying to do uh or was i doing what did i do okay so i basically did a super jump [Music] by uh since i swapped kongs in the water then uh and then took damage uh the game the game thinks that the next kong is like underwater so you kind of have like underwater physics while in there oh whoops oh okay oh i just realized i did this back up wrong too well all right let's give me another adventure i was supposed to do another one of those super jumps as a backup just now but i completely forgot i started doing a workless muscle memory instead the problem of running too many categories exactly is i run like eight i've run like eight categories for this game so it's like oh uh i think i'm gonna die maybe never mind okay i didn't die i i kind of winged that i've never had to uh i've never found myself in that situation to like have to avoid getting uh chomped by that guy but all right i guess my general game knowledge uh helped me out there because yeah normally uh what you would do so when i went into that bonus barrel and i threw the invisible object is that um so i threw it to the right and for whatever reason that gives you a ridiculous [Music] amount of height when it shoot shoots you up so it would shoot you up to where the gold is and then i would have to wait for the uh camera to catch up eventually but it'll save a lot of time compared to like how i how i just played out pretty much the whole level instead but um yeah since i took damage with dixie then i uh yeah that kind of messed up the the wrong work set up for me yeah i was trying to jump on the beetle to do a beetle clash and then i undershot my jump and took damage i've like never had that happen in a run ever too but this was a bit weird for me that's all good so yeah this level everyone knows this song first off definitely reminds everybody of their childhood [Applause] which um yeah so the major trick i did was um uh vine clip so i did another big boy which gives you just enough height to uh clip throwing your uh throwing your partner so i threw dixie in this case so you kind of clip her into the vine and throw her through the vine and um it skips like the skips what we call the maze of shame which uh saves a lot of time over that there are two other backups that skips the maze but um i think they're roughly like four seconds ish slower oh oops uh i messed up my movement there a little but it's fine yeah this boss is uh quite a snoozer it's like a mid a minute and a half long of like kind of basically like a glorified auto scroller so to optimize a little bit i am trying to get quick hits by um [Music] having him when he lands i try to have a dixie run behind him and then uh when she's throwing her uh throwing the barrel then like the her hair whipping back like blend up hitting him so you can generally save roughly about 20 frames from doing that per cycle but since i failed on uh on that previous cycle then i probably lost like like 12 seconds at least we're trying to save 20 frames that's how that b is that's how that be sometimes you know you go for the really minor time save then you lose a ton of time yep yeah this game is like for what what people find hard is that like trying to get everything clean in one run is like generally difficult because uh yeah you can just bleed you bleed so much time like for a single mistake a lot of times so like you know taking a death could maybe lose like 20 seconds or like half a minute depending on like where you died things like that oh what's i did not mean to team up there if you fast forward this bus yeah i made it a little uh longer than it had to be too all right so yeah this platforming part uh with dixie really gives dixie her time to shine since uh it's nice to be able to hover over this honey that's on the ground because uh yeah you get stuck on it for a bit when you land on it but then um yeah of course yeah dixie can just hover over it and keep going forward which um oh i did that wrong let's supposed to take damage there instead of uh killing that enemy because i wanted to reverse my kong order but it's fine i'll just swap at the the goal ideally so yeah when dixie's running normally her run speed is slower than diddy's so generally when you're running hor running horizontally then um i better kill this thing you then yeah then you're kind of like losing time over time uh whenever you have to play as dixie so that's what's pretty big about not uh taking unintended damage um as diddy but yeah since i'm riding squidward then um the run speed's the same at this point and um there i was doing what's called um instant web platforms so i'm pressing l and r at the same time together and uh and um it bypasses that cooldown for when you press lr to shoot out a web platform and then press it again to uh form the platform and uh and because of that then yeah you can um make a platform like immediately under you to uh speed to speed up your platforming like significantly which um one of the notoriously hard levels uh casually web woods um instant platforms will make that level like a lot faster but probably like upwards of 40 seconds compared to casual strengths awful like controlling the spider as a kid i feel that webb woods is such a struggle with whenever i played this game casually but for me it's like easier because of the instant platforms it also like makes the level easier for me even though it's still a pretty difficult level in speed runs like people lose runs there all the time from like a single mistake yeah there's another auto scroller there's like literally nothing different from any percent um in this category from this level since uh the dk coin's right on the path so just grab it still is there anything you can do to speed up these little roller coasters uh for this one the minor time saves is uh jumping off of your cart early when having to jump onto the next one and then also the the flitters the dragonfly enemies um you can uh skip bouncing on a couple of them and uh it saves about half a second each time that you skipped one of them like there i skipped the the second one and swag balloon so normally i don't go for the swag balloon and pb attempts because uh if you miss and hit that x barrel then the door will close on you and you'll lose a kong which actually happened in my practice run like an hour ago but well so i guess i got some redemption so yeah doing one of the more difficult wrong works um so brambler wrong work so for whatever reason when jumping onto uh sloped surfaces while holding a beetle with dixie um for some of them it like turns her around and if you uh let go of the the y button uh when she gets turned around then um she'll uh what's it called chill um uh she'll clash the beetle off of nothing you can get an invisible object off of it so uh with that i moved the bonus barrel and corrupted it so it uh kind of ejected me out of the level and um for that wrong word particularly you have to load all the things that i loaded on screen starting from the the vertical rope climbing section um i had to load everything in a specific order otherwise the wrong wrong warp won't work won't work and it will lose like probably upwards of half a minute oh dang i was trying to skip that signpost by making the camera scroll up enough and um and uh yeah then you can uh actually just fly over the no uh splotch sign but as a backup just graph twitter and um since i did the wrong work and uh quote unquote completed the level with the wrong work then um it's revisited to get the dk coin and then purposely took a death there to instead of finishing the rest of the level which uh saves time by doing two visits like that which yeah that wrong work saves like more than a minute overdoing the level um worthless like um i think in any percent if you get the wrong work like third try i think it still saves time over like beating the level normally and like if you get a third try you're probably losing like around a minute so it's like yeah it actually just saves that much it's a huge trick and usually like one of the larger barriers for uh newer runners because uh there's like numerous ways to fail fail that uh wrong work whether it's just not getting the invisible object or not loading things in the right order or being too slow in your invincibility runs out from the invincibility barrel or like or what have you and yeah so this level is not any different either from any percent because you would get first place anyway which awards you the the dk coin there wasn't uh much to say about it though i'm jumping down uh steep slopes in that level uh does save time uh compared to uh riding down the slope but uh jumping jumping up upward slopes uh loses time though yeah i'm not holding marsh this level is pretty difficult um if you do the optimal strats like under the world and all of that um i'm gonna have to do this level worklets uh normally there's like a somewhat difficult wrong work that you would do after the mid barrel like in the la what's in the latter half of the level but um yeah since the dk coin is like attached to the goal at the very end then you have to just beat the level uh worthless so if you miss if you missed the dk coin you have to redo the whole level too so it's like oh no there's a really punishing one yeah just gonna swap back to diddy because i'm used to his movement uh generally for this level yeah taking damage and like right there didn't lose too much time it's probably like three seconds or so let's see if i can make it across this pit and two bounces nope oh shoot all right so i need to get this dk coin from uh [Music] oh goodness this is bad actually okay there you go [Music] waited for some extra cycles but uh at least i didn't uh fail it and have to redo the whole level so otherwise i would have wasted more than a minute well that would always make me super nervous like what if in 102 in a marathon run i failed it twice it was oh no yeah so normally the strat is uh so if i didn't take damage with diddy i would have uh the cannon uh the guy that was shooting the barrel um that it bounced off of normally you would roll through him and kill him and then uh you would swap kongs which would freeze the barrel uh in place as you're swapping but the uh the cycles for the goal the goal posts will keep going so it uh it'll line up the the dk coin uh after you swap since you want to be beat it with dixie anyway because um first off play starting starting this level with dixie is generally faster rta and um also whenever we get fanfares um we always want to be dixie because her guitar solo is faster than uh dixie faster than diddy's rap so yeah while i was rambling i was doing two uh pretty difficult tricks there um so with a clobber i think that's called clobber rolling to uh get to get invisible objects um i honestly don't know how to explain that one particularly to get those invisible objects and um yeah i forgot that i did not have diddy with me i never got him back through the whole level because normally you don't lose diddy in my whole marsh so this is completely autopilot because yeah there you're supposed to take damage on purpose and then you would swap the ditty after you uh get damaged but i just completely forgot to get them back um after the mid barrel just one of those brain off moments i guess right exactly that was definitely a very large time list but [Music] yeah exactly that was just like straight autopilot too so yeah so what these invisible objects is doing it's um changing the property of uh this rotatable barrel and it's uh shooting me really far than it should uh like way farther than it should basically so you skip all these uh most of these auto scrollers by um uh by doing the invis which uh each and this i think it saves about 20 seconds which in my pb i failed the the second one um [Music] uh like the one the same one where i uh died after i shot out of the barrel um that one i just failed the invis itself entirely which uh usually what happens uh if you fail it then um [Applause] the tnt clobber um where i'm picking up the invisible object from it'll just explode if you're if you misposition where to put the barrel down [Music] so yeah i think i killed uh the sub hour in one minute uh just from that mistake along because i got my pb is a hour one minute and uh 17 seconds and yeah failing that loses about 20 so that's how it goes sometimes so yeah there did a big boy um again to grab that hook which skips a lot of like vertical sections that was to the right like you would have to climb up some honey and then like drop down another like vertical chef but um but yeah i think it saves like probably like close to 10 seconds uh getting that hook so oh whoops so doing a rambly double jump to get this the unintended way uh casually i thought that was intended like i thought that randy double jumps was an intended mechanic and um after i learned to speed run this game i saw someone doing a casual play through um for their first time and um they got they got they managed to find the dk coin like the intended way there's like some invisible hooks in the room before you uh go into the randy transformation barrel and i my mind got blown [Music] there's another way to get that like oh my god that's the intended way don't wait i've never never known until like last year [Music] and had already been speed running uh like that category too and i never knew what the like casually intended way was to get it which fortunately uh since i was already doing the speedrun strat casually then um i never had to actually learn it when i picked up like 102 and also all dk coins [Music] so yeah the rule for this boss never sleep on the king so it's a pretty easy fight generally but um it's very easy to uh just get hit from like messing up your movement or being too lacks [Music] and um when you split up into those small bees um you can actually get one uh one early hit to or what we call the two cycle uh as he's spawning the bees there's like one frame where you can hit him but um i have never gotten it personally ever and uh it's very rare that people ever get it in a run in general like even like majority of like runs that have been world records i think like usually don't even have the two cycles or they also just straight up don't go for it because yeah it's it's position dependent and like frame perfect too yeah this level's pretty cozy um oh wow i just cursed it so sometimes when you have too much speed you can just like randomly clip through those uh slip through those ghost ropes that's the first time that's ever happened to me in that spot though so usually i roll under that ghost rope but i kind of just forgot the movement [Music] and uh and then i got punished by like something really rare happening in addition so yeah go figure right and i had just skipped the mid barrel like right before that to redo the whole level [Music] but yeah as i was saying yeah this level is generally like pretty cozy um like the move it has really good platforming and like the movement feels really nice when you're used to doing it well and um despite that death like really it's like really rare that i end up dying in this level in general oh whoops yeah so you kind of roll off that ledge and trigger the goal a little faster by rolling into it but um i turned back too soon um alternatively you can um uh kind of like do a team up goal so if you press jump and then two frames later press team up before you actually leave the ground from jumping then um you kind of get like a slight airborne state which you can actually trigger a goal trigger the goal with uh seemingly without jumping which um i did it in one level oh uh black ice battle when i mentioned that i was supposed to swap cons there i did the the team of goal instead uh because of a 102 habit was in that category uh usually wouldn't swap see a haunted hall aka tupac's library the community meme um so yeah most slopes uh most of the steve slopes it generally saves time jumping up or down down them and um uh yeah just generally you don't just don't want to run out of time and uh and take damage from uh cackle uh yeah so he basically like laughs at you and like you lose a kong when the time timer runs up so grabbing all the plus barrels to add time and then uh avoiding minus barrels to not lose time generally which um yeah i think generally people usually just copy the tests the test route so i need to look it up and actually actually study it because i'm pretty sure i'm losing frames every time that i do this level because i don't have like the optimal uh jump pattern and yeah so the end there's this dk coin gotta make sure not to forget it otherwise you gotta go through that very long auto scroller again if you miss it and yeah next dusty glade um so there is a wrong work in this level that like most runners don't even do in any percent but um yeah it wouldn't save time here in this category thankfully i i admittedly i never want to learn that trick but uh it it it's extremely difficult it's like by far the hardest wrong work setup which uh the beetle at the very start of the level you want to carry it to around the mid the mid barrel that i just got past and um get an invisible object by beetle clashing and then um using the bonus barrel that was uh right before the mid barrel to uh wrong work out of it yes here i'm getting an airborne state by uh team throwing into that barrel so uh when i get to the goal i'm gonna try to uh swap uh my kong order uh while also triggering the goal yeah like that it's called the lz swap which dkc is better i only speed run dkc2 and that's because it was my favorite of the series so i have all the bias that's actually a strong answer how about you ray i have never played them i did not have a nintendo growing up ah so sega uh no we weren't allowed to have a console until uh playstation ah so i just i missed out on a lot of the early nostalgia ah gotcha definitely recommend the series still if if you have the time yeah there's just so many games on that list from not having a nintendo you know yep yeah i never had a sega so i'm like just recently starting to like play a bunch of sega genesis and uh master system games over the last like couple months yeah we had a a game boy and a game gear because we used to do seven hour drives to visit family a couple times a year oh and my parents found uh keeping us quiet in the car valuable can't imagine why for seven hour trips yeah you can't keep kids cooped up for that long without some sort of distraction oh i never get any of the kong letters i just looked at chat oh yeah well there's somebody in chat who's been tracking your kong letters at the end of each level and it's it's a great ongoing meme i appreciate the dedication i think did i get it in rickety race yeah and one of the the roller coaster ones you got all of them okay yeah rickety race is generally the only one where i get it i think unless if i'm forgetting a level so yeah the notorious uh web woods that i was talking about earlier this uh level is like oh what's i was about to do 102 movement mixing up categories again and um yeah i kind of got punished for uh kind of doing the wrong movement so this time i'll get it this time we'll get it so yeah this really long platforming um so yeah normally like you would have to just shoot a single web and then form the web then jump onto the web and then do it again and again like over all these pits um instead of doing these instant platforms uh to beat the level normally and um yeah it yeah like with these instant platforms as long as you don't trip up on your movement like i think it's significantly easier while also being like way way way faster too so there are some two spots where i could have done a leap of faiths and used like one less web each time which would have saved like half a second each i think but um i didn't bother because i didn't want to die again and um yeah so the the dk coin is on the goal and uh for that goal it it's only visible for about 11 frames so oh my god it is so cruel sorry i said at least you have that barrel so you can shoot into it and get the timing better yeah exactly like it's still so cruel because it's like only 11 frames so you have to like really memorize the pattern like when uh oh i'm dead when um of like what order like those uh items come so it's always after the single banana so yeah you just have to make sure you identify that and like shoot before the single banana cycle ends because yeah if you miss then uh you have to replay the whole level again so it's like a really brutal punishment ah i can't grab this rope there you go so yeah i was trying to jump off of the rope the other time and i accidentally climbed up instead so it's uh why i got hit and died uh the previous time so yeah generally the rng on this fight um so there's three phases so first phase you want to get middle spawn for the barrel and then for the next two you want to get a right side spawn so that last cycle i got right side which was really good really good luck because uh that the second cycle if you get left get a left spawn that's a the most uh the largest time lesson in this fight but yeah i forgot i was gonna show off a little gimmick where you can uh after you beat crow there you can uh die like where i got hit you can uh die and then um completing the level um after you die uh cancels your actual death so i was gonna be like oh no i died but i forgot that i didn't take damage before and i still had diddy with me oops oh well didn't get to show off the meme the meme swag though yeah again because you want a dixie's fanfare uh you do want to have her in front anyway so i was gonna either swap diddy or take damage on purpose regardless but i just forgot to do it earlier uh to get dixie in front [Music] so yeah this level arctic abyss so there is a uh kind of notoriously hard trick i think it's i think it might be the second newest skip besides a gusty blade wrong it um so yeah the trick is uh arctic zips so you can um near the beginning of the level you can swim under the that on guard barrel and um you can lure one of those uh lock jaws the red fishes and um bait it to a position where you swap tongues like while you're inside of a wall and um with that it'll cause you to when you take damage from the lock jaw you can um zip up the wall and uh the position that you would zip up zip up to the gold is right there so you beat the level in like around like 35 seconds which um yeah overall throughout the route it saves about uh 15 seconds i think it might be 12 seconds in this category actually because of uh or optimally it would save 12 seconds because of uh uh the next level coming up windy well uh there's a trick called diddy windy which i will not go for because i'm bad at it and there's a risk of soft locking if i failed it badly enough so um it uh diddy wendy saves three seconds but um normally in any percent you wouldn't get to do diddy windy because you have to take damage as dixie and you can't do a team throw to do that stretch because you don't have dixie at the start of that level whereas in this category if i managed to finish this level with both cons and i could do it but i won't go for it even if i do have two punks at the end see i was able to skip that squidward barrel and that bonus which saves like three seconds but if i crashed into the brambles you would fail that bonus and then you have to just retry the bonus again which probably lose like half a minute so kind of kind of thread the needle on that skip and i think that's like the third time i've ever successfully did that skip in a run too so i'm happy so yeah here uh so generally just take damage there on purpose to get through the wind cycles uh that second hit's not intentional but it's hard to navigate through those beats and squeeze through them so if you do take damage then you can kind of use your invincibility frames to get through uh the rest of that wind section to make it easier for you so if you fail the damageless threat it gets easier for it at least so it's not too bad here skipping that barrel by doing a what's called a true double jump which uh so radley he um just a bit after you hit the the the apex of his jump if you hold a and b within a three frame window then um he'll do this like glitchy state with his super jump and a regular jump he kind of does like in between both and that uh glitchy jump you can jump out of it doing a double jump basically to gain extra height in a lot of spots so with that you can get enough height that dixie can hover over those uh two red beasts which uh saves a pretty small amount of time but it at least makes it easier to uh well makes it like almost certain that you're probably not gonna get hit by by those bees if you successfully do [Music] oh i actually had the wrong kong order because i took damage there i was supposed to still be dixie what oh no oh my gosh he sniped you while you're carrying the dk barrel even i know i was supposed to just like clap okay i'm just gonna throw this instead yeah i was supposed to like clash it into him but then uh that didn't work oh that's not good so i supposed to take damage on the top of that b and um the uh little jump boost that you get from taking damage would um make you skip over to where the hooks that i just grabbed it would uh skip over there so you wouldn't have to go all the way to the right like i did and then go all the way back left afterwards [Music] but um i hit i had to be too early mostly because my timing was just thrown off from like swapping kongs and like all that stuff and yeah here you can actually skip under uh two of these bees with the first wind cycle if you have your movement right call it uh we call it ghetto b skip it uh it saves two seconds but uh if you fail it you lose like i don't know it's like at least a 12 second time loss because uh there's no dk barrels for the rest of this level so you would have to revisit one of the levels to get diddy back and then uh go into castle crush here because of a wrong work that i'm about to do you're required to have both kongs uh at the start of the level otherwise uh you can't do it so here i'm going to let the crusher kill the rat um it saves two frames compared to you killing it because uh you don't get the freeze frames from like jumping on or rolling into it and here um i got an invisible object by uh dropping the dk barrel into the wall and uh picking and picking up and trying to pick it up again as it got destroyed and then um with that uh again with the cutlass like raising its sword and uh for whatever reason it's like properties uh causing wrong works to happen then um i died when coming out of the randy barrel and then the cutlasses swords being up uh cause like causes you to wrong work for some reason and um yeah that auto scroller level is like the longest auto stroller out of like the whole trilogy by a lot it's like i don't know close to five minutes long like oh wow yeah so it's like it's huge because you beat that level in like 20 seconds with that wrong word so it's like such a huge difference i do have to go back and get the dk coin still but um which is like past the mid barrel but when i get the dk coin i'm gonna just uh die on purpose instead of doing the rest of the auto scroller which uh saves a lot like i don't know how much exactly it saves i i'd be surprised if it was like less than a minute and a half [Music] compared to just uh doing the level in one visit [Music] okay so i need to remember to go back to the level because yeah it's so easy to just like mash buttons and then just enter the next level when you're not supposed to especially like right after you finish talking about it so your brain is thinking about something else and then you just move on to the next thing you're like oh crap exactly and like you can only exit out of levels after you've uh after you've beaten them normally if you uh wrong work out of a level then um for most of them it doesn't count as completed so you even though you can move to the next level it like technically doesn't count as completed so you can't uh press start and select to exit out of the level so that that's why i have to take a death intentionally after getting the dk coin and same with a bramble scramble uh way back when i died on purpose uh for the same reason because it did a wrong work at the start of the level but yeah we've got a ton of auto stroller to go through right now which uh ideally i don't want to take damage though because i'm gonna try to skip uh some parts of the auto scroller with um [Music] um with like team throws and uh potentially one big boy uh right before the mid barrel so the the old strat to skip uh most of this level so right about here normally you would bring that dk barrel that i used to do the wrong work earlier and um with it uh oh what it didn't kill him that's weird okay yeah so uh yeah you bring the dk barrel up and get the invisible object and then um uh when you throw it in in a specific spot or take damage to a specific spot then um the game like warps you up to the goal basically and um it looks really glitchy because the crusher is still there with you and um and like all the enemies that were from like the bottom floor but uh your position gets warped up to the goal and then you can just jump on the goal and finish the level which actually does count as a complete like a real complete interesting but um it also is like a minute longer than that uh depth that i did okay yeah yeah that's why it's not done in this category we only do it in i think 102 is the only category we do the uh the goal summon uh wrong work now because um in that one we play on uh oh yeah there's two different uh game versions like revisions so yeah version 1.0 and then revision a which is a 1.1 so almost all of these wrong works uh work on uh only 1.1 and then um there are some other set of glitches in 1.0 that are optimal for 102 but in exchange you can't do any wrong works which uh normally you wouldn't want to wrong work in that category because you need to get all the bonuses and stuff so uh that's why version 1.0 is optimal in that category but the uh goal summon still works in uh 1.0 even though you got to do the strat like slightly different than you would in 1.1 but it's about the same timing though all right so chain link chambers it's actually one of my favorite levels um the rope climbing i think is pretty hard to uh optimize and like it feels like you can just like endlessly improve at it which um i had sloppy movement a lot so i'm just kind of doing like backup movement generally right now but um i'm pretty content with uh how i handled the mistakes uh with the movement there like it all it all went pretty well i think [Music] and um oh yeah version 1.0 you can also zip through that wall below and not have to wait for the beast too when uh sometimes when you swap kongs if you're holding left or right then the kong will also moved like didier dixie will like move left or right like while you're um swapping but that's a 1.0 specific glitch and uh if you do that you can like pass through walls you can sometimes clip through floors and end up dying too in some levels oh no so uh that got uh fixed in 1.1 version 1.1 so yeah webb woods it's uh notoriously happened to runners where they uh do it do that uh the moving while swapping by accident and they hit like a sloped surface and they just like flip through the slope and fall to their death it's like kind of funny to watch admittedly so yeah toxic tower so i'm doing a bunch of uh double jumps with radley um i'm actually holding my controller in a really weird way to do these double jumps so two different types of double jumps so the true double jump that i mentioned earlier about the three frame window of holding a and b um just after you hit the apex of your jump and then there's short hop double jumps so if you're holding a to do the uh super jump charge uh during that time if you tap b for a very short amount of time to jump then um you'll get a that glitchy jump state but at a lower height than the true double jump but um the short dot double jumps are just about the height that you need for most of that platforming so most of the jumps are short hop double jumps and there's like i did like two true double jumps i think if i recall correctly the one where i got the dk coin was a true double jump and then um i think when i was jumping off of like a bunch of bees in a row right before this box barrel that was after the true double jump all right so in one run i've one run i forgot to get that dk coin um in toxic towers so i'm fairly confident that i got it this time after beating the level i was a little i was like wait did i actually get it i've been rambling so much there's always that self-doubt whether there's like any completionist category of some kind like did i miss one exactly this is now most dk coins exactly what if i get 39 and just tie with mario [Music] alright so oh gosh i was gonna say there's a fine tradition at gdq main events of 99.9 speed runs oh man that um there there was one marathon i ran not not for gdq but there was a marathon i ran where um i did uh the first time i ever did 100 for metroid fusion and i forgot three items 97 [Music] yeah admittedly i didn't practice a category because um i wasn't sure if there was going to be a donation incentive to do 100 instead of any percent so i only practiced any percent and then when i was supposed to start the run then i was told that the donation goal has been met and i was like oh there was a donation i didn't know so i only practiced any percent like that time so all the all the hundo stuff i either forgot something or made mistakes on movement but it was still a fun time like no one was upset about it or anything and yeah so that level um oh yeah i took damage once on uh the b ring skip which uh notoriously a run killer when you're like on a good pace like dying to that is like very common unfortunately i had two kongs when i got there so um it was just damage and losing like a second maybe yeah so this level fiery furnace um i think it's really cool um this is the only category that we end up doing it worthless uh at this point which um i definitely this is definitely my least practice level in general because like i only played this category a few times and uh i almost died that was close for good reflexes just say it was not even close i'm kidding even even even i even i got scared so it was definitely narrow so yeah uh yeah the workplace strats for this level i think is like super cool like using the tracking this uh these uh moving barrels to um uh to shoot to shoot in the right spots just to like optimize like how to optimize how little to be in the barrel basically you were in the lava with that barrel sir yeah fortunately uh when you go down while you're in that barrel when you go down to the bottom then it um uh losing my words oh it kind of there's kind of just like an invisible wall um if you're inside the barrel so it's really safe it just looked very silly i know right it's kind of bathing in lava with like a wooden barrel even so yeah i'm gonna play this bonus uh extra safe um oh i forgot to mention that um yeah it's also like the level before the final boss so um assuming i don't fail this bonus will be probably done in like a bit under two minutes [Music] but yeah um if i do fill this bonus though i gotta redo the whole level um because you're forced to uh shoot into the goal right after um right after this bonus yeah because it points down and then you're just forced to just shoot into this so k rule so i didn't fight k rule one because we don't need to in this category so k roll two will give the 40th the dk coin i decided 39 so i didn't miss anything unfortunately and um yeah so this fight is one long cycle it's like a minute and 15 seconds i think for money to enter the fight and then um time will be when the uh dk coin falls on top of me and then uh yeah and that'll be it so um those purple smoke clouds that he shoots uh if you get caught by them uh it inverts your uh d-pad controls so left becomes right and vice versa and up up and down uh get inverse as well oh it does up and down too that's so mean yeah most games only do left and right i know right yeah so you have to hold up to actually uh duck under stuff oh that's awful oh shoot i got hit this should be fine though uh famous last words but we'll see yeah um i'm actually more used to doing this level with uh with diddy than dixie anyway but uh generally just with the kong word or you in this category you always start this level with dixie all right so here's the final hit i threw it too early never blind okay i choked oh no all right we got to see another minute a minute and a quarter of uh jinxed it the second time in an event that i uh choked that that's like can you save it can you save it you save it oh that's so funny yeah on some k rool cycles when he's uh sucking you towards him with the blunderbuss then um sometimes it's like uh he's not sucking you towards him like that hard so you can kind of like almost outrun outrun the suck and um and then because of that you can usually like recover off of it but um yeah unfortunately i was while i was getting dragged i was still facing backwards so i still threw the cannonball the other way due to a mechanic called moonwalking which uh this thing when i'm landing like how diddy takes long to turn around so you can moonwalk like that or you can moonwalk by using crouches which uh delays the camera from turning around that's generally why we use it um but sometimes like if you accidentally moonwalk then you'll like not turn around like when you're holding objects for example so yeah that happened okay playing it safe time this time yeah so hopefully i wasn't like badly overestimated or something that's good i was definitely uh i definitely lost like several minutes to things like that at the end for example you were still on a 107 there oh not bad not bad the one run i managed to finish uh before i did this was like a i think it was a 106 59th yeah i kind of had a rough uh early game in that practice run but that was mostly just from like not remembering the route because i was still too used to 102 uh there you go and this is the whole purpose of the category so there's even yeah side categories for um beat yoshi and uh beat link who's not on the podium right now which yeah uh b link you would get 20 dk coins and beat the game and then uh beat yoshi would get a 30 and beat the game which are pretty cool categories i think beat yoshi is actually the hardest of the three even though it's like a 45 minute run roughly i mean that makes sense because from what i know the any percent run of this game is very difficult so you're just getting closer and closer to the any percent run at that point you know exactly like mostly just doing any percent strats but then uh and then trying to pick and choose which levels are like fastest to get the dk coins from but anyways all right yeah i guess i won't keep you for too long yeah thanks for doing this run for us uh celebrating our neighboring birthdays it was a lot of fun uh do you like on barrow for the next two and a half hours i mean there's gonna be a little bit of roasting but you're you're coming in as a last-minute backup so i think we're gonna we're gonna back off at least a little bit i got a half past yeah but you know the nature of our relationship you never get a full pass no it's not possible so why don't you give us the quick explanation of this game i think you've done this once before my show but it was like the dlc not the main game yeah so i did the dlc before uh which was playing as alucard uh this game is obviously a sequel to castlemania lords of shadow um basically we are playing excuse me uh we are playing as uh gabriel belmont or better known as dracula um and we are going to continue our flight to get vengeance against the people who run this in the first game basically um this game takes place in current times uh and the story makes no sense so it's best if we don't ask too many questions yeah you reminded me about the gabriel belmont being dracula thing and that just made all of the memories flashback oh this is this is the lords of shadow lore everything is different don't try to compare the lore of these games to the normal castlevania games you're not going to be happy if you if you do no um there are some questionable choices in the lore i did see uh with the other runner of this game uh when we were doing commentary on a run uh he had a really good explanation for why things happened that kind of ties things together but it was still like hand wavy so yeah um i'm ready to go whenever you uh are yeah so give us a countdown all right uh on go i'm gonna start from five five four three two one go um yeah so this is this is a game uh it's metroidvania thanks for this it's a game there we go commentary over now you can just cut my mic now i'm good i've done my part so uh right off the bat uh this is like a weird tutorial sequence where we're like half powered so this is uh in the seventeen hundreds i believe um and dracula is at full power except he doesn't have like half of the things available to him like the brotherhood of light is coming to eat the crap out of us so the comparison i've made to this game before is this dracula may cry right like find it yeah dracula may cry is pretty accurate uh we've got like combos and spells and ow and the ow is very important yes it is i need to mention for people who could not hear the precise timing of that joke church made a joke about uh being muted and then our person working production left the channel that they were in the la on the channel with their laptop so cheers said oh you can mute me now that i heard bloop from discord oh it helped but i was like i thought you actually got movies which honestly would have been great it would have been amazing i because like all of us are very close i totally expected to just go the next few minutes to like with no mic like that's just how this is gonna be i guess yeah there's going to be quite a few jokes past this run church is here as a backup like i mentioned earlier helping me out when a runner dropped uh we've known each other for a long time and we have type of relationship where we make fun of each other so don't think we hate each other if we get into it i didn't even bother practicing this game i know ray's gonna roast me regardless oh my god the church has been trying to convince me that he didn't even have the game installed up until like three hours ago i was like i should probably install that game huh so okay full disclosure i did okay so i tried to do a full run of this earlier and then i had a that's never happened before a moment and i got well i was like if i keep playing this i'm just gonna get tilted so i'm gonna stop i mean there's also the full disclosure that you you had this on your show recently didn't you yeah so there is okay uh i had uh this run in a marathon a few months ago and in uh like getting back into it because it's been a few years since i played it i was you know kind of going along and uh trying to you know practice the run and then i got to one part uh which is a really difficult skip that uh while trying to remember how it was done i realized no runner has ever actually done it in a recorded run so i was like okay well i'll just go back to the glitch hunting video i saw it was actually it wasn't a glitch hunting video it was a um uh not a single segment uh as a segmented run uh that did it i was like i'll just go find the segment in run where i learned this strat from and watch that that run disappeared can't find it anywhere so i was like okay there is currently no record recording of this trick uh i need to fix that so i had the game on my show which is a uh live tutorial show uh did the tutorial for it uh so i was relatively practiced on it uh also uh yeah so yeah i am relatively practiced on this this is also not i have a few games that i'm like i can run this for you at any time for any reason this one's not quite there just because it's a little bit longer and there's uh some pretty difficult parts but this is like i could give you a mediocre run of this at any time for any reason so you may or may not be getting a mediocre run i'm hoping you get a decent run uh we're also almost out of the tutorial why would you say that because i like to cause you pain i mean i don't know what am i supposed to say to that sometimes i just want you to say the obvious you know so we're past the interesting part of the tutorial uh we've got like two minutes of combat that doesn't matter i can just i don't even need to fight here it doesn't matter eventually this happens and we're in a time it's not really a time segment but i have to wait around for this giant by the way uh 1700s this giant robotic mech thing uh which is attacking castlevania castle i have to wait for it to punch the castle enough that the bands on its arm fall off so i can progress yeah this is like alternate universe castlevania steampunk aesthetic yeah okay so i just so we're clear alternate ver or ultimate timeline be very careful with alternate universe describing okay fair alternate timeline so um the time the the the lore of this game gets very confusing very quickly right now we are in real castlevania this is going to be important in about 15 minutes oh my god i hate it we had to clarify that look i same same but we are currently in real castlevania i guess technically we're right outside real castlevania but i'd say that if this is one of those games where you like deep dives into lore you'd either really like this game because it gives you a whole lot of different lore to dive into or you're going to hate it because it's not the same as regular castlevania lore oh this game is great don't pay attention to the lore the lord it's fine don't if you look at the lore on the surface level and go wow that doesn't make sense just just forget about it just keep going also absolutely under no circumstances remember the lore and mirror of fate because that makes everything worse is that one of the dlc's no that's so it is a prequel to this game that they released on either ds or 3ds and then ported to the pc were they trying to explain some things in the story that didn't makes quite make sense uh and in doing so they made it make even less sense so yeah just forget about the lore of that game the game itself's not bad so like if you like it's not the same kind of gameplay though it's more of its 2d venue than a metroidvania or like a 3d uh vania they're both vania's so but yeah it's like a 2d it's a weird like it tries to be 2.5 d the gameplay itself's not bad uh the speed run of it is not good don't try to speed run it um oh that's like me with legend of dragoon so at the same the same uh it was a castlevania marathon so i offered both games at the last the marathon and then immediately after that run i went why did i offer this and why did i ever speed run this and i uninstalled it and i refuse i'm never speed running it again it's not a good speed run you are clearly just being good guy church and giving them one run of a game nobody will ever run i mean you're not raw uh we're almost almost almost done with the tutorial uh i had to forget these uh last two rivets broken and then i had to do the final fight against i don't remember his actual i i think it's ronaldo or renault or something um he is like i don't want to say a lieutenant but he's a very high up person in the brotherhood of light uh he's got the flying armor or whatever the hell it's called so you're trying to get him to shoot in particular spots like yeah so it looks like you're trying to bait his shots in particular locations yeah so there was rivets on the floor there i'm trying to get him to lock onto the rivets uh so that the various components uh are easier for me to rip off i don't know why with my superhuman strength i couldn't just rip the rivets off or whatever but uh i don't know clearly they only consecrated the rivets with holy water oh yeah that makes sense yeah that's probably it they didn't have enough holy water for the entire thing yeah so they just yeah that's a lot of holy water yeah uh so this fight is sort of random in the sense that i sometimes he won't jump like that uh which is great and then sometimes he jumps a lot which is terrible because we're full powered so we have all of our abilities which includes the ranged abilities we don't have uh so in general i guess i should explain the kind of magics i have even though i'm about to lose them for about 10 minutes or 20 minutes so we've got blue magic which slows them down we have spells well we will get spells the blue magic spells freeze normally and they do lifesteal damage uh the fire uh the red magic is uh chaos magic uh so blue is void uh red is chaos chaos does more damage usually breaks armor and stuff like that uh and does i think i just said does more damage but does more damage i know yeah i've not lost all of it uh basically uh in the lore uh as uh i'm gonna say rinald maybe it's not i'm sorry uh he's about to chant a uh it's a very powerful spell that is only known by the brotherhood of light uh and as he's chanting he's kind of like on his death he knows he's dying uh and as he starts chanting it gabriel also because gabriel used to be like the most important person or one of the most important people in the brotherhood he also knows the spell so gabriel starts chanting it with him uh which causes a taut huge explosion uh and levels most of castlevania and he goes into a deep slumber and we awake in castlevania city which is a city that was built in the ruins of castlevania castle amazing we see we see a ghost boy who is uh the ghost of our son trevor belmont who we turned into alucard without knowing he was our son and we never met him as a child we've only ever known him as an adult and we see his ghost child running in here this is where the story starts to go really off the rails this is look just the just hand wave don't pay attention to this so what i'm doing right here is i'm testing a theory out that i kind of thought about earlier uh basically i can't win this so i'm just waiting to die uh sometimes this thing will like double hit you and launch you up and i was trying to see earlier if i could get on to there can't or at least it didn't let me that time so that's fine uh we are now oh there's a lot of cutscenes in this it's just a few it's just a few it gets better somewhat uh yeah i don't know what they're yelling about we don't need to talk about what's going on here hey i've got all my power if it doesn't happen on screen it doesn't happen at all it's fine it's true yeah it happened in it that's why luna freya did not have anything bad happened to her in the final fantasy 15 run earlier she's perfectly fine yeah absolutely and nothing bad ever happened uh so in that little cutscene and by little i mean in one of the light well godzilla skip uh so we uh run into zoback now zobeck is on the list of people who have uh ruined gabriel's life he's number two uh so i i guess at this point in uh gabriel's life he's like a thousand and he's essentially except for the last few i'm gonna stop laura for a second so i have this ability uh hold on there we go somersault i'm gonna do a trick i'm gonna well i'm gonna try to do a trick i'm gonna fail apparently but i can if i somersault while i interact with something i can cancel the animation i do that a lot uh except right now when i'm explaining it lore okay gabriel is like a thousand and at this point like he got his revenge initially and then he spent like 800 years uh hating everything he basically killed his son turned him into a vampire he doesn't like life but he's immortal he can't die uh so zobeck shows up and is like look sobeck is also like the uh ceo of like a huge mega corporation so he's like super rich he zobeck spent the past thousand years alive in the human world just gaining power uh and zobek shows up it's like look satan's coming back i can't kill him i need your help if you help me kill him i'll kill you in return i will give you the eternal slumber that you desperately want and dracula's like yeah sure whatever okay i guess so notably i'm not sure if dracula knows it at this time if gabriel knows he also has some of his memory missing which will be important later so we're now we're we've passed the stealth section for now which has the fastest movement tech and also the worst mechanics in the game uh we turn into a rat so we can get behind this thing so we can possess it uh it moves slow as hell it's also literally the most it is invincible these guards are invincible you can't kill them this is the final boss and we run into them a lot uh it's also a bane to speed runners because it's uh there's a very powerful glitch later on that we have to drop repeatedly because of these uh guards uh a lot of the criticism so there's like two main criticisms about this game the lore and the stealth sections and yes there's a lot of both yeah the lore is something you can like yeah the gameplay is pretty all right the the stealth sections are like could i be done with this now it does have the best movement in the game though which is unfortunate because it's super fast basically i i don't know why this works um but the fastest movement it's it's basically uh extremely similar to shield dashing in symphony of the night uh the fastest movement is the very start of your dash um at the end of it is really slow but for some reason in stealth sections you can immediately try to throw a shadow dagger and it cancels out of the dash so if you just mash them both you just get the start of the dash repeatedly which is the fastest movement so it really is shield dashing it's literally shield machine yeah except you only have it for like maybe 10 minutes of the run so you don't like destroy your hands doing it uh so we are now we we saw child trevor again who we've never met and we followed him into a corridor and now we are in past castlevania we are now so i will i'll go ahead and use the explanation um that uh turbo dog came up with uh so in the dlc uh which i have shown on your show before um one of alucard's abilities is turning into a white wolf uh and part of uh alucard's abilities is an ability called timeless vision which basically allows alucard to revert things to a previous state so the the theory that turbo came up with is that the alu card has some type of power which allows him to recreate the castle from his memories and so all of this is essentially just like a pocket dimension of alucard's memories which is what god didn't say he was dead so alucar trevor belmont oh crap trevor belmont um so the the story is that trevor was okay this is getting into the lore of the second game which we just talked about didn't exist but so basically somehow the brotherhood of light knew that gabriel would become dracula and for some reason their solution wasn't preventing that their solution was taking trevor gabriel's son away at birth like basically hiding that his wife was pregnant and taking trevor at birth and having him raised somewhere else so trevor in his like probably 40s i think because he has a i think he has a son maybe 30s he has a son but he's not like an adult yet uh so trevor finds out that his dad is dracula and goes in to kill his dad spoilers doesn't succeed gets killed by gabriel and then in his dying breath reveals that trevor is his son and so gabriel gives him apart some of his blood which turns him into a vampire which turns him to alucard so trevor is alive as alu card okay so he he was going to die but when he got turned into alucard that prevented him from dying okay okay okay yes all right so the theory is that all of this section and all of the sections like this are happening in a pocket dimension that is accessible through trevor's or alucard's powers which is why the only time you ever go into this area is when you see trevor who is essentially or a white wolf uh it's essentially you're calling on alu card and alucard is granting you the powers to go back into this pocket dimension and somehow you're able to take things out of the pocket dimension that's i feel like there's an easier explanation here is it magic no okay i feel like trevor is helping you recover your memories which is why then you're able to bring power out of it because you said her memory is all messed up after being 300 years see that would be a better explanation if the dlc wasn't a lugar coming into this pocket dimension and putting all of the stuff where it is look no i i agree with you it wasn't it was a good explanation tell me that part there's a lot there's a lot of lore i'm trying to skip over some of it you're right though so yeah the blc is alucard it's sometime between 1700s and presumably before the start of this game the dlc takes place and it's just alucard running through the castle putting all of the all of the power-ups basically in places so that dracula can come get them later so uh he puts the whatever the gems have names i don't remember what this one is i think the second one is the primordial gem i don't remember what this one is called uh but he he places all the things here for us to find that's a little weird a little is he supposed to be like angry at us for turning him into a card i thought he was not happy about that was not happy about that this one always messes me up he wasn't happy but like uh yeah hand wavy i love this comment in chat what the hell is this game the lore is so dumb i need to play this that sounds about right that's why it's fun to talk about the lore of this game when i have it on the show because it's just it's so weird and dumb but like fascinating at the same time like some of it makes sense and then some of it is like you could have explained that a little better probably uh overall again so like going back to the i stopped speed running uh mirror fate i speed run games that i like or that are at least fun to play so this is fun to play um so we got uh the our we have uh blue magic back actually while i'm talking about it i'll go get the other thing technically i don't need it right now and i can get it at any time but i'll just get it while i'm thinking of it so we got our double gauge um we technically have it right so this is this is the part of this where i admit that i actually haven't played devil may cry games but i've got a magic bar on the bottom that's basically a double bar right double gauge is when you like transform into like another form and gain a bunch of power oh uh i get that at like an hour and 20 minutes into the run except i don't use it until the end of the game because it's hard to get back okay i was making a joke fully expecting it to not be a thing but this really is just dracula it's not really a thing but i can i can i can make it work there there is technically a thing that technically turns you into another form except it's in a cut scene that i skip i could let the cut scene play out i don't think you need to do that unless you want to make more bs jokes no i mean i can make those without watching the cutscene uh so kid trevor is being attacked by demons uh so we're trying to save kid trevor uh i don't know i don't know it seems like we're swinging our sword directly at kid trevor quite a lot yeah he's invincible or something so i don't know why there's a problem here also i don't know why he doesn't run off he's just kind of like standing in the middle of combat trevor buddy please move all right so we used we got a wife with medallion we stood on a white wolf medallion place i don't actually know what they're called you just go there and use the white wolf medallion and then we follow this wolf out and we go back into the real world i enjoy the remember you can open the relics menu by pressing the down d-pad when you're playing new game plus it's true you can't do that so okay there is actually uh a really important thing that i didn't mention earlier there is a dlc that costs like a dollar uh you don't have to run it the game like you don't have to own it to run this game i am using it because it makes the game a little less grindy uh it's not like a big deal if you don't have it it's just nice to have but basically it's called the transmutation rune and there are consumable items in the game uh and there's in the speed run there's only one that's actually good uh and the transmutation rune allows us to have uh it it turns every consumable item into that item essentially uh which is good uh so this we're back in the real world uh like gabriel said uh uh i am dumb so i missed that not a big deal uh there was a small animation cancel there if i had actually tried to hide in the shadows instead of shooting a second ice ball uh i don't know don't worry about it it only saved like four seconds so it's not a big deal uh so we're back into another stealth section uh yeah do you turn into a rat in all the stealth sections is this gonna be a common theme uh unfortunately yes um uh there might be one stealth section you don't have to turn into a rat for also i need chat to understand the amount of time that church has put into trying to figure out how to skip these stealth sections there have been multiple many hour sessions of where we're just sitting in discord hanging out and church is trying nonsense to get around these stealth sections and thinks he's found something only for it to ruin or end in a soft lock there's been so much time put into trying to skip these stealth sections and none of it works i don't want i don't want to do these self sections it makes me drop the old the best part of the run i there's a great glitch in this game it's one of the best glitches i've ever seen and the stealth sections ruin it i hate them i can't believe i didn't get caught there what the hell yeah apparently his vision is just awful uh so for some reason possession requires you to be right beside people i don't know why uh we also have like bats worms i've used before i didn't really talk about it doesn't really make sense to me i don't know don't worry about it uh so we can use them to distract and then we can possess guards uh i don't really know i so the i i'm pretty sure all of the like scanners in the games are like puzzles that have very specific solutions because like sometimes just like any guard can use it and sometimes they can't like sometimes the guards can do it sometimes it's scientists uh i have a decent amount of magic here so i want to have as many basically i want to hit all of these and screw up i want to get as much magic as possible here um because we don't have so the item i was talking about earlier is called an ensnared demon and it gives us infinite magic for 45 seconds uh since we don't have any of those yet unless we get really lucky on a box here um i just want to have as much magic as possible uh going into this next fight we are going to hopefully uh get uh what's called an infinite blizzard glitch which i will explain a little bit more after i get it we've got a bunch of other items which can be turned into an instant demon later but until we actually get one we can't transform it into one uh so this is the first uh boss or second boss of the game this is the first boss in the real world there's a lot of magic over there um i don't actually remember what her name is but she is an executive for a company that is manufacturing a uh basically chemical warfare they're turning uh humans into zombie mutated creatures basically uh so she works for children yes basically uh so the move i'm using is called whirlwind i was using a little bit before it is the strongest dps in the game as long as you can uh basically the apex of the spin if you can land that inside the hitbox it's massive damage otherwise there's other strong moves that are better but traditionally we're going to use that i'm very intentionally getting this boss down to the yellow bar instead of just killing her for a specific reason i'm trying to end the fight using this move which is called blizzard for some reason if you end the fight so blizzard is a duration ability if you end the fight any fight that ends in a cut scene for some reason if you end it with blizzard the game forgets to turn blizzard off so i can walk up to these things and they'll break because that move i was using is now active even though you don't see it it's just active correct this is the infinite blizzard glitch so i oh ray your show's cursed i think i have bad blizzard so there's two types of blizzard glitches the fight i just got is supposed to give you good blizzard like 99 of the time and the difference between good blizzard and bad blizzard is that bad blizzard drains your magic uh so you can't have magic which means i'm if i can't if if i get magic drops here and my bar depletes instantly like it just did i have to restart so there's good news to this what's that uh i can get blizzard off of this fight and i might be okay maybe it's just a large pain i don't need the glitch in order to uh beat the game uh you have to drop it frequently it will save time overall so i i absolutely have to drop that glitch i can't progress without magic i technically could try and progress a little bit um but it's worth it for me to try and actually just get the blizzard glitch here and have it be good blizzard if it ends up not being good blizzard i i can use it a little bit and then drop it it's not like the end of the world i'll just blame your show for being cursed and then we'll move on with our lives so you'll just blame yourself for messing it up is what you're saying i don't know as far as i'm aware it's completely rng based so which is actually not a meme if it would if there was a way to prevent it i would be honest with it uh so this is going to be an annoying fight because i don't want to actually use too much magic i'm going to use a little bit i'm not that sure because you need to save some to cast blizzard at the end right yeah and also i don't want to like accidentally kill it because that is just like i just don't have blizzard at all and that sounds terrible did he just spawn more dudes yeah they spawn eventually which is a little annoying uh his death always triggers cutscene i think so i need to do a little bit more damage uh maybe you you three give me magic so on the bright side this isn't the thing that happened to me earlier that had never happened before so i'm not gonna get super tilted off this just yet this is actually like super common this isn't even like a tilting thing this is like this this happens sometimes please be good blizzard yes all right we're good it cost us a few minutes but we're good okay i assume that that fight just would have gone way faster if you had the good blizzard glitch going in yeah if i could have just used good blizzard i would have just stood there and they all would have been frozen and then i just would have wailed on them from the back also i could have just whirlwind them which is the really damaging move and then it would have been that would have been it would have taken 30 seconds maybe compared to i assumed that was like two two and a half minutes which it's it happens sometimes it's not the end of the world like there there are specific backup strats for that reason uh so like there the blizzard glitch can also like you can lose the blizzard glitch by accident or like if the game crashes for whatever reason i wish i wouldn't have said that because the game is going to crash now um you like you can lose the glitch legitimately so like there are backups in place there's no there is no strat you need the glitch for it just makes everything faster because you can skip a lot of combat sections because you have it it makes the combat trivial it's just nice to have uh like for example uh this area here i i'm going to skip because i have blizzard if i didn't have blizzard uh these uh creatures will throw like poison mist at you which just stops you being able to climb up but since i have it i can just freeze them all and move on with my life uh so here is i'm going to probably waste more time doing animation cancels than anything else yeah so you bolt over it instead of using the animation cancel we don't we don't need to talk about it we don't need to talk about it um i i did a really good job of staying on and then immediately fell off that was awesome all right so this is a chupacabra he is stuck inside this prison uh typically i'm supposed to actually move these but that's slow so instead i'm gonna just jump across um because i don't want to move those i i'm going to have to move them and you'll see how slow moving them is uh in order to do that i would you would have to move it like so you would have to move it twice to get over there and then i think it resets after we complete this so then it would have been just whatever we have to do now actually no yeah you would have to move it like four or five times instead of what we have to do so basically there's like that yellow flashing thing over there whatever that thing is is going to clear the dimensional prism or whatever prism thing he's in nonetheless that dimensional he's very clearly in this dimension he's not an alternate castlevania i hope oh wait no we are in alternate castlevania never mind carry on as the plot makes no sense don't ask you lost track of which timeline i don't know i don't know right i don't know maybe it hurts sorry he's very clearly in past castlevania he's not in future castlevania there is that better yeah i'm just surprised that you you lost track of it you're supposed to be the one explaining it to me that's like castlevania game sometimes i forget that when you're inside castlevania it means you're in fake you're not in real worlds okay oh my god it's a castlevania game i should always be in the real world okay so uh we're coming up on the part uh where my that's never happened before thing happened and hopefully it doesn't happen again and by and so i actually i know what happened so i can just avoid it but basically there's a skip that i uh i'm going to do and like all of the enemies missed basically uh so i tried here i'll just do the i'll try this and then so is it really gonna happen again there we go hey so all three of them missed like they just the hitbox just didn't knock me up as much as it was supposed to for whatever reason so i went to go reset the f like back up and try to pull them away and apparently there's a distance where you can just despawn them i like this comment from chat the game's lore is like trying to do a puzzle but each piece is from a different set yeah no yeah that's uh pretty accurate so we are now uh fighting the gorgons one of the gorgons actually likes us and wants to help us but her two sisters are jerks and say no and then possess her and then turn into this creature so now we're gonna have to kill all of them uh so because we have the blizzard glitch we have to come to this corner uh if we don't come to this specific corner the blizzard glitch will actually cancel out our magic and we won't be able to do anything um this is also kind of a scary fight not because it's a hard fight um but because of some of the sections required to beat this boss and the blizzard glitch basically every phase of the fight uh we're gonna do a certain amount of health and then the gorgons are gonna slam their fists down and you have to climb up the gorgon's fists to get to the head in order to kill one of the heads um which while you're climbing you're not supposed to be able to do damage but we have infinite blizzard glitch on which means we're constantly doing damage and the game goes i have no idea what the hell is going on and uh probably uh if you get like if flashes or movie jumpy things are not your thing don't look for a few seconds um but the the game kind of freaks out and like you can get thrown into the abyss uh you can look again oh i can't so it yeah it's very possible uh to get thrown into nothingness uh which means we have to restart and anytime we restart we lose the blizzard glitch which again is not the end of the world it just means we're losing time now uh so i i was mentioning earlier that fire magic is the strongest uh and you might notice that i'm just not using any magic and that's because there's like no good aerial attacks there's a lot of great moves on the ground but there's nothing worth using in the air basic attacks are the strongest aerial attacks basically just your basic blood whip stuff for yeah you could techn technically fists do do more damage but their range is such like so much shorter that you're just better off you're going to hit more times with the whip so your dps is going to be better so this is don't look again for like 20 seconds if you don't like flashy jumpy things [Music] uh you should be good now so that should be all of the like jumpiness for the please okay i'm getting worried that head is supposed to come out a lot sooner suddenly got a war with these animations yeah it's it's it does have like those sort of vibes for a lot of these um which is maybe why those are the like most of the cutscenes you can't skip yes they really want you to watch it so what are we now we're where dracula may cry of war yes jack you'll make cry of war zones accurate okay we'll see how many more games we can add to this uh i mean there is a game that we're going to be adding near the end um which yeah we'll see it's fine which should be clear this game does look cool i'm just having fun with the comparisons oh yeah i this game holds up really well for 2012 13. i looked it up earlier it was close oh yeah that's right you put it on stream which i have on my other monitor and i could have looked over and seen uh so typically most times i run by these magic fountains i'm gonna skip them uh but i need a little bit of magic for the nepcoming fights and i don't want to drop uh in like an item on it so i'm just gonna get enough to get by hopefully hopefully i got enough to get by if i didn't it's gonna be not great dracula's hair is doing some things you know it's yeah yeah he didn't bother styling it this morning so it's just kind of you know what you got right so what's that like sword movement you're doing uh so the fastest movement in the game is the the the thing in the stealth section the thing with the sword is kind of mirroring that or trying to replicate that uh basically i'm using the sword animation to cancel the lat like the sword swing to cancel the last part of the dac uh so that i can reset it faster so it's it's less good shield dashing okay uh so this is i guess it is worth noting technically there is a route where if i had missed the skip that i was going for earlier with the uh the heartbeats technically i could skip this fight instead uh because i have the infinite blizzard glitch because the alternate path requires you to fight two guards which drop two keys but you only need to use one so i would have an extra one here but it is a little bit slower but there is that backup strat i'm gonna try this one this one so i got this animation cancel this saves no time a lot of the animation cancels which so this is where i admit i know generally the ones that are faster and there's some that i'm like i don't remember i'm going to try it i'm like nope that's not faster at all that one i know isn't faster but i did it anyway uh so we are coming up on the chupacabra shop uh because i'm using the transmutation rune i'm only gonna be coming here once uh if i didn't have it i could come back here later to replenish my stock but i'm going to buy all of the items so i now have 15 ensnared demons and i can actually use and style demons now so most fights in the game are now super easy because i just have 45 seconds of unlimited magic also we get a talisman uh which cut that did call the talisman of a dragon uh words are hard we'll have questioned the scientist by now i now which is the devil meter you were talking about earlier and i'm not going to use it until the end of the run we do have it there are technically so we kind of talked about it there are a few other places you could use it um they would make certain things certainly certain things i do a lot safer um i instead of going with a safe strat choose to just slam my head against the wall until it works and then make a boss fight easier instead because you're stubborn yes we know yeah basically yeah [Music] look either you get lucky the first time or you get lucky the eighth try and pretend the first seven didn't happen are we finding out why you and kyo's little monster get along right now is it that shared stubbornness on going for a trick over and over again look all right i promise you that if i screw up the scaffolding trick more than like three times i won't do it because we'll be there for an hour i really want this to be the only recorded run besides my tutorial where it gets it but you know i'm going to get it like first try in your tutorial after like warning people it might take a few tries no that was the other one no see that one that one's actually hard and i got it first try i'm talking about a different one which is like almost as hard but for some reason i've never gotten it in a run oh okay okay i thought you're talking about that one no i'm talking about it so the one you're talking about is the one i spent like literally eight six to eight hours on learning it uh and yeah apparently that's just free no no please don't use an item apparently that's just free for me now oh you shouldn't have said that no probably not but uh you know what's the worst are you hitting me i miss the first don't finish that sentence church don't do it what's the worst that can happen right my game is going to crash at that moment and like not be on my hard drive anymore it'll crash i'll be like i'll just open the gate ray it's not there anymore right my game's gone uh so uh this is like a very long uh kind of like going from one point to another thing we do some things but like none of it's really it's basically just going from one point to another oh so we're gonna be traveling from there was a point in time where i knew the names of all the districts now is not that time there's a science district in the art district and two other districts and i don't know where any of them are i know we're downtown i don't know what district thoughts in uh but we're traveling from one part of the city to the next and we have to like crawl through buildings and turn into a rat and we're gonna have to like go through a hospital and like break some stuff and this part's kind of just like yeah you're just kind of going from one part to another this is another area where i'm going to be able to do a little bit of a skit it's just a combat skit because i have the uh the blizzard yeah so i'm just gonna touch all of these creatures they're all frozen and now they can't knock me out please jump please go okay okay we're good uh so this is this is also a nice little area you can usually get a few power-ups so if you're like you can get drops from like breaking things and sometimes uh enemies will drop them that's experience but those were all experience i'm sad that that was an item so ah i've got five okay we're actually almost full on them which is nice i do not want to actually stay on them though don't use them on accident yeah uh that happens all the time and it's sad and yeah someone in chat's asking how do you have 807 000 blood points this is new game plus yeah so this is uh i i every time so because it's new game plus i just it's the same file i always play on so this is because i've done a hundred runs 200 runs i think i have 400 hours on steam so a run is two and a half hours for me typically so tell us something remember the 100 hours you spent trying to learn how to try to find ways to skip the stall segments and failing that's true that's true yeah that's at least hundred yeah so uh ooh hold on uh that's this one there we go yes i'll take that and then i almost used one which would have negated all of that and just wasted time yeah so i've done like i don't know a lot of runs uh so that's why i have 800 000 plus oh no i also sorry god someone in chat says this game is also dishonored because he can turn into a rat oh no i was not even thinking of that comparison sorry what were you saying you probably had something more relevant to say uh it is just so the the the important part about uh new game plus is really just the magic um and i guess having the experience points to buy everything immediately you technically like you could not have all of the uh this is not where i'm supposed to go you could technically have uh less of the like magic um power-ups basically um when you start the game where my magic bars are right now that's about how much you have so i just like doubled the amount of magic i have technically you don't need that you could just go with the experience it just makes it easier i i love that the enemy getting frozen right outside the the elevator just completely gave away the fact that's not a real elevator did you notice that the doors closed but you were still getting healed by hitting him with blizzard the entire time and then he just despawned and it moved you in a different place of the map as soon as it loaded i didn't notice that that's amazing though oh crap that's great i should have gotten we're gonna waste a little bit of time that's that's fantastic though you got a little bit of a peek behind the curtain because of your blizzard spell yeah i could tell because you're getting the little like tiny heels from it since it drains health so if for some reason i had dropped blizzard i could get it here uh it would be a pretty stupid idea for me to do it because i had to drop it pretty soon but i could get it here so these are whatever police force is left is now they're basically they're only showing up in mech suits and trying to fight because i briefly touched on this uh the corporation unleashed a bunch of this gas and now like everybody who's still alive is a creature basically at least as far i don't actually know what happens to the population of the city you don't see humans anymore except for the scientists and lab coats or the ones hazmat suits the ones that totally nothing bad happened to at the start of the game as well yeah you see yeah you see a few humans there for a few seconds yeah those people are uh probably fine they're fine probably you skipped the cutscene yeah definitely nothing bad could have happened to them because we didn't see the cutscene uh this is uh another small section uh like a lot a lot of the time save from blizzard just like besides the the extra damage you get on bosses and stuff a lot of the the the time save is just because like i can do this whereas otherwise i would have had to have fought them i'm gonna get a little bit of magic here i think that was enough it's actually i probably needed a little bit more but there is another font i can go to lose a little bit of time for it but [Music] isolating decontamination area this is all very very light this is like 20 minutes of like no plot just going from one point to the other it's uh it's a thing it's so in uh like in not a speed run there's like a bunch of things to do well there's a bunch of like collectibles to get i guess uh i wanna nope i probably could have gone that path down that path but there was like a bunch of enemies and sword dashing will like lock onto them so because of where they were i just kind of took the longer path this area can be a little bit annoying uh because like so fortunately you don't fall all the way down uh i guess i can try that off you don't fall all the way down um but just falling off it all does waste a little bit of time no we are at i could have just gone apparently i can't i i had already inputted the down action so i couldn't stop but i have to be very careful here because like i part like i i try to do it like when i'm going very fast i try to like do a jump over that ledge and then like use uh combat abilities to like close the gap but if you fall you go all the way you fall to the bottom of that climbing section so it's not worth it uh so we are coming up on uh we're coming up on the next stealth section uh we got like if i'm not bad at a skip about two minutes if i'm bad at a skip one or three minutes and then after that's probably a good time to take a break okay sounds good mostly because i have to yeah mostly because i have to drop the infinite blizzard glitch anyway so dropping it at a uh actually i have to drop it right now so we could just do it here okay i don't want to think here but yeah all right so once you're done reloading just tell us when to pause the timer you can pause the timer right yep that checkpoint didn't activate okay never mind we're going to come back get back there and then we'll do it again is there normally a checkpoint there and you just yeah it's just a checkpoint there i i guess i paused a little before so that it so that was another it's like an elevator that checkpoints you and then you're supposed to be able it's like it opens uh to another room and typically you're supposed to be able to like as soon as it starts you can just hit checkpoint and then it'll go to the next area like like the checkpoint opens you at the bottom floor i guess that didn't happen so what i get for trying new strats it's not really a new strat it's a thing i started doing recently but that's what i get for not doing a tried and true method i'm gonna let's just here i won't reload the checkpoint i'll just right here it's fine okay okay so we're gonna take a break here for these longer runs here on hotfix we into it all right uh on go three two one go all right so this is a oh i missed that cycle right because we were paused that makes sense uh so this is i'm gonna go for this is like a super not like dangerous strat it'll waste a little bit of time but uh basically i'm gonna try and cut as many cycles as possible so as soon as the lightning's up i'm going to come up here and then i'm going to jump across and skip that cycle and then because i don't want to wait around i'm going to jump across these and then skip all of those cycles all right easy never failed that before ever once i don't believe you i don't need you to doubt me we could have just moved on or hey look another cell segment another stealth segment my favorite so this is yeah this is why i restarted the checkpoint because i have to drop it here anyway i was trying to abuse the checkpoint and save a little bit of time apparently that didn't happen we don't need to i don't need to dwell on it uh this stealth section um is long so i guess technically it's a lot of segmented stealth sections all in a row which are all annoying and also there's some other sections in there it's kind of it's an annoying part of the run altogether uh we are trying to sneak onto this train over there you can't even see the train actually what the i i guess that's the back it's going the other way i swear there was more anyway okay uh moving on uh that thing walks faster when i'm not possessing it which is why i'm just kind of hanging out here i want it to go as far where i want like as far towards my destination as possible before i possess them uh because otherwise it's just a slow walk also they have like a health bar i'm pretty sure i could make it from where they started but i don't want to because it's slow uh now that i've done that i'm gonna walk backwards to a rat thing which is all the way over here for some reason i thought that crashed was not supposed to happen that's the kind of visual thing that happens when you possess somebody with blizzard and the game just like doesn't know what to do uh and it panics the game's just trying to scare you because you said what's the worst that could happen earlier nothing's gonna happen ray no bad things are gonna happen everything's gonna be fine oh my god why do you keep saying it i don't believe it's superstition here your hand wavy mumbo jumbo it's not real i'm i i don't know what's going to happen to this run but it's going to be terrible so there's this like creature on the the train and uh we're gonna have to fight it like eight times and yes all right so this train is filled with guards which are literally unkillable despite the fact that we've killed and will are going to spoiler alert we win uh we're going to kill satan we're going to kill all of the super evil baddies in the world uh for some reason we can't kill these whatever i don't actually even know what the hell these are supposed to be so they work for the shinra equivalent are they working for satan like what are yeah they work for the the shinra company they're called golgoroth guards uh i i assume they're like genetically enhanced or something but i'm not sure why it makes them literally unkillable but it does i like the answer in chat satan should just be wearing that armor right yeah no it would solve everything all right this is the only part of the game that i had to look up how to beat this so we're in this area that thing is unkillable we can't do anything to it and it's walking towards us it's going to find us there's nothing we can do uh batting it just distracts it temporarily uh so clearly it's a bad energy he just turned around he just but he did he didn't even he didn't so yeah i i spent 10 minutes on this and then i had to google it and it's just like yeah no just wait you were just being impatient yeah well i i suspected it was like a puzzle or something because why would somebody walk into a train cart to investigate something and then only investigate half of it you're not thinking enough like a video game developer church yeah clearly and that's my problem that's a pretty common trope if anything yeah i'm not sure how we've known each other for this long and you don't know this i've not played as many video games as you think i've played so what's this like meter in the bottom middle of your screen that like fills up and then drains if you get hit uh so uh if you fill that bar up uh with so that bar fills up when you are using uh just the basic mealy um and once you get that bar filled up all of your hits will drop uh magic orbs and you can hold in on either the right sticks to turn those magic arms like to incorporate those magikarps into your magic part so uh right stick is the chaos magic and left stick is blizzard yeah dice yeah void for blue but yeah exactly uh and uh we only really care about blue magic because blue magic gives you the whirlwind which is the strongest attack in the game so yeah anytime specifically because uh i want to try and use as little ensnared orbs as possible we actually do have a decent amount of them but i don't want to use it on this fight if possible i do want to avoid him dropping down so that please don't kill these things because we have uh avoided him dropping down on us we actually are hit this creature dropping down on us we actually save like 15 seconds uh it typically uh the creature will like drop down on you and you'll enter like a qte uh which there's a lot of qt's in this game but you can disable the qtes and then it's just you watch a cutscene so typically we get like a 15 second cutscene where they they just drop down on us and like attack us uh but because we is that how you're doing those qt's so fast earlier they're just popping up and going away instantly i it just like they don't even pop up it's just like you just get a cutscene okay yeah they don't even pop up it's just like this is this should be a qte but it's not because because you have them turned off so you just get to watch a cutscene oh which and yeah you always succeed as quickly as possible uh which is nice in a speed run but to be perfectly honest i just don't like qt's which is why i turned them off initially fair turns out it's a speed run strap it's always nice when there's that's an option oh give it to me give it to me uh it's gonna be gone before i'm there all right well uh any died up there and dropped an item that i want but i'm not gonna get through it in time uh so this is zobek's lieutenant uh zobeck uh doesn't trust us so they sent the lieutenant or asympto lieutenant to come with us to uh watch us so we're going to uh be with him for all of two minutes possibly three or four if i don't get this so this is a skip that i go for um the other runner doesn't like going for it because it's very rng based it's kind of like the harpy skip from earlier no over here aggro on me and i got hey so uh i honestly i expected to not get that that one is i go for it constantly it's like a 50 50. sometimes you get it sometimes you don't uh that creature like isn't guaranteed to that charge attack so sometimes you wait for like 30 seconds for it uh sometimes it misses or like doesn't charge at you properly i still go for it and always get lucky right never get punished just get the trick yeah just just get the trick forehead all right so child trevor runs at us through these bars and then we are back in fake castlevania uh this part of the game even with the explanation we used earlier uh this there is no explaining this part part of the game there is nothing you could do to explain this section of the game so we have been infected with carmilla's blood and it's slowly poisoning us uh in order to stop please target the one that's about to respawn okay awesome great i was trying to hit the enemy in this pool thing but it kept locking onto the other ones so i had to fight it again no big deal uh in order to stop being poisoned we have to drink the blood of our wife marie who is dead um but we're in the past so she's not dead um so the important uh plot problems with this is if you'll remember uh trevor did and gabriel did not meet until much later in much later in uh trevor's life so uh he should have no knowledge of camilla at all camilla was one of the original lords of shadow who gabriel first of all had uh this game portrays them as having like a relationship or something or like a a forbidden love uh gabriel knew her for all of like an hour and then killed her so all of that doesn't make sense the fact that trevor knows who she is doesn't make sense all of this did not this doesn't make any sense at all hallucination ah sure yes that that's the best i got and that's that's better than what i got because what i've got is yeah don't worry about it so on this boss i could technically get infinite blizzard and i would have it for all of two minutes so i'm not going to also oh my god i actually got it i was about to say i i i was late on calling it but i was about to say this is the what could possibly go wrong moment where i'm just stuck on that for like the next 10 minutes uh that is a 50 50. uh you have to you have to choose one of them is carmilla and one of them is your actual wife and you have to choose correctly if you choose incorrectly uh you lose and have to restart uh which you would go that's a you know it's a 50 50. so you i've spent 12 tries on that before is it a thing where like you you get time and there's ways to tell but you just try instantly because why not flip the coin kind of deal if there is any way to tell which one she is i've never known it there you might be correct there might actually technically be a way i've never oh i was not assuming like if you don't do it instantly and you wait you might get something maybe uh i so it's been a while since i played the game casually uh i don't know if what you just said is true it makes sense uh but i don't know what that would be so maybe maybe it's just because i'm an impatient speedrunner spending 10 minutes on the guard that turns around all right i had to yeah yeah so that was the first boss here wait no never mind getting my getting my uh we have a bunch of travel never mind so we're back in the real world uh i was thinking we were for some reason i was mixing two parts together uh how much was left not enough for me to wait around so i'm not gonna bother uh we are going to not have magic it's not the end of the world means we're going to move a little bit slower that's not a big deal so the downside of that item is that it it completely drains you back to zero when it's done it seems like right correct so yeah exactly so it removed whoa you're trying to get boosted over what's going on uh boosting over is one of the ways uh you can just so there are various movement abilities in the game obviously some of them give you a little bit of height so i was trying to get over normally because it is slightly faster uh if you get it first try although i used to actually just straight up try to get them to launch me over um yeah so the downside to using that is you lose all your magic which means we can't get our uh fast animation canceling uh okay so this is another place where it could go terribly wrong uh and it's just not going to all right well i don't know why it targeted there if i don't get this trick in the first like minute or so i'm gonna actually try the other trick or the other strat and see if i can get that better for some reason so this is safe this is like a four minute time save haha first try easy every time right see nothing ever goes wrong right we're calling that first choice always goes right all right index zero yeah first try first try yeah i mean so the reality is i met the second part uh because the second one's the harder jump but yeah technically you're correct i didn't miss the first jump once um but that is still like three less tries than normal so yee so that trick is difficult um because so the first part um you're relying on your attack this is like a 40 second like i have to sit here by the way so i'm just going to put the controller down um you have to rely on your uh heavy attack going in the right direction if it because it tries to lock on the enemies so sometimes it'll like try to lock onto an enemy even though it's below you and it'll take you off course the second one is difficult because there was like a piece of wood sticking out from the ram like the um the floor and there's an invisible wall that you have to jump over and then land on that piece of wood and then you have to carry your momentum and jump immediately basically to try and get the height in order to get where you're going so that's why that's hard and the fact that i got the second jump first try is actually surprising because i normally again normally takes me a few tries i was fully prepared to do the other strat which i normally don't do because i so i actually had to learn that strat for the tutorial i've never i'd never used to do the other strat i was fully prepared to just go i'll do the backup strat i guess and then have to nail that so i got another gold green guard uh this is like the cure um which we get and then i don't actually remember anything else about the cure just that we get it um oh there is actually one more human i i i lied there is one more human we run into in this entire run and they definitely survive were they in the building that just blew up no we haven't uh they haven't been introduced yet uh we do run into them though uh and they definitely are so technically i so i'm also excluding uh the acolytes of satan because i just assume that they aren't fully human anymore uh i could be wrong they could technically be human but this wasn't acolytic and she's clearly not uh not human anymore so i just assumed the other two are similar this is actually going really fast would you here oh it's because i'm on this that's why it's not working i was trying to use the uh the really strong fire attack but it wasn't working and it was because i was on uh you had to specifically be on uh shadow daggers for that to work and that's why it wasn't working i actually could have one cycle that otherwise which is really good to one cycle this fight in fact like if i wasn't trying to get blizzard i still could have one cycled the fight but i want blizzard because the blizzard glitch is awesome and amazing uh so now uh so this is the trick you were talking about earlier uh which is the what i consider the hardest trick in the game uh like ray was saying earlier uh when i was first learning this this trick took me like six hours to do and now it's like apparently i can just like no practice get it and uh let's see nope not first try also i wasn't on miss so i didn't have i basically did another comment so basically i'm trying to abuse uh the geography of the game to think that i'm above ground when i'm not so that i can reset my ground abilities which gives me an ability that raises me into the air now i didn't even need this there so yeah i didn't get a first try but like the fact that i got it in like three tries is huge i remember when you were learning that you were in a discord call oh that one was close for like hours yep that was uh i'm pretty sure i got it once at like the four hour mark and then it took me like another hour to get it a second time that sounds about right yeah yeah so nope this way surprisingly it's actually hurt like harder on uh dracula than it is on alucard because you have to do that trick in the dlc too you have to do that skip uh so now uh we are doing this is a weird stealth section uh so actually yeah this is the only stealth section in the game where we don't have to turn into a rat so there is one at least the one that i can think of right now uh and this stealth section is awesome for like 15 seconds because you can jump come on you can just move freely for like 10 seconds oh you did not move as far all right i thought you would run already i did i got impatient that's what happened yeah i know how to play the game thank you i mean clearly i don't because i wasn't patient but that should be good there we go the stealth part is like you're not supposed to go over the the flowers because it aggra's him uh but because uh we move so fast it doesn't matter i'm gonna be really aggro here he stuck he definitely should have been close to catching me there all right it doesn't matter we're getting to the second part uh do i have any fire magic i don't think i do uh i think the fountain's on this side i'm wrong nope i'm right ha that was mostly i guess so we need a little bit of fire magic because we need to uh make a chicken dinner out of an owl or a turkey dinner out of an owl now we have this delicious turkey dinner or chicken dinner or whatever yep okay he's normally not able to just do that but okay hello there we go so this boss is a little awkward because like even though we're constantly freezing him he just like constantly breaks out of it but if you time it not terribly you can get most of your uh whirlwind and the hitbox so this is like an area where we get like three bosses in a row kind of and then like you don't get anything for a while it's kind of just like movement and like going from place to place uh that one they all have like different lore so that one was the brother of another character who died in the first game but actually so i don't this was this was another thing that i was a lot younger when i played these games originally so maybe it makes sense in my head it was a pointless sacrifice it was like i need to die in order for you to get my powers for some reason which i don't understand if that's what happened that's what happened but like that's always like a weird plot point to me um but basically the brother died so we could have his powers and then uh that boss argus blamed us for the death i guess because he doesn't know or whatever also i don't know how trevor knows about him because we're in past castlevania um makes sense that makes sense was the giant fail on your screen oh uh you know i that's a great question uh because i don't pay attention to that anymore so this section here has like mini games and i think you get like experience for it but you don't have to complete them you can just oh crap uh you just instantly lose them inside okay yeah you can just instantly lose them i forgot i always forget about this part uh i'm that was the this literally every time i run this this happens uh you'll have to excuse me while i frantically search for the discord channel where the the following strat is uh written down for me because i've never once memorized this oh no church it's fine i know where it is i just have to scroll a little bit i don't got time but literally every except for the tutorial every time i run this game i'm like i forgot about this section where's that uh channel do you have it pinned in that channel yet you should just pin it it's the last message in the channel so as soon as i find the discord channel i have it it's essential it's a dead server at this point you can search for channels if you know the name of the channel in the dis in the dm search bar i i got it no it's so it's it's a server that has one channel it was like a server we made to like play a game and then we never played the game again [Music] so it's just i had to scroll to the bottom of my server list to find it you would think after having to do this so many times i would just write it down somewhere else but i'm not that smart so this stealth section i had to come in here to hit that with a fireball and then i had to turn back into a rat immediately uh quality stealth sentence uh that was a weird hitbox uh i can go now go now i can go now uh i'm not gonna lie to you uh all of that was risky none of what i just did was safe [Music] uh so now i can get out of this rat section uh is this the last rat section it might be no no it's not i don't think i wish it were there's one more but actually no we don't have to turn into a rat so i think this is the last section so there's two sections without rats right nice all right so we got the theater working now we need to put on a play and the first part is toy maker and workshop so this is the story of toy maker uh basically could you here we go uh basically uh there was a human uh he made toys made a deal with a demon or something i don't know whatever he became he became a demon creature basically [Music] uh castle i we could watch it and explain it or i could just not so the toy maker is actually kind of an interesting character but i don't want to watch a play i'm not saying players are boring i'm saying i've never not fallen asleep during a play and i don't think rey would appreciate it if i fell asleep on their show no that wouldn't be oh that's not there's no dash there i lost 300 experience points i don't know oh no all right notes are gone alright so ray earlier i said what could go wrong and you said i told you not to finish that sentence and you brazenly finished it anyway so what could go wrong i could get grabbed by the final stage of toy maker and soft lock the game causing me to have to restart uh and oh is that like because you get grabbed but you have blizzard glitch so you'd be infinitely frozen while you're grabbed and you can't get out of it sorry it's not the final stage it's the first two stages of toy maker uh but yes exactly if uh toy maker grabs me while i have a blizzard glitch uh yeah yep don't fall asleep now so i'm preempting a second demon so that i have magic immediately so i don't get grabbed because that would be bad uh because yeah i would like to not soft luck uh we should be well i mean we're definitely good now i'm hoping that i don't get the next cycle are you serious literally one hit away okay that first part i've never seen before what the hell i i was legitimately terrified that doesn't it's just supposed to go into the cutscene with him holding him literally every literally every weird thing that happens to me now is terrifying because now i'm i'm expecting it to be like a game-breaking fight because you challenged fate earlier yeah a little bit i've never even played your veg i said fate not faith i've also played mirror's edge you could have said chrono cross i've never played protocos for a week ago so i didn't know there was a character in there uh you said it you said it eventually we'll count it oh that's more generous than normal i appreciate it uh we're back in the real world we don't have to never mind i was gonna say no more bosses in the fake world but that's not true uh so now that we have misformed we can go this way i don't actually know what this building is oh no i do yeah this is the zobek's headquarters it's apparently right in the middle of this oof oh please let me go back up please let me go back up i want that thank you items are always good especially for any of the times where i mess up and i use like an extra three and uh actually how many do we have so there's a few areas that are like yeah you could probably use one here and you'll probably not run out for a like of them on the final boss uh so let me check two four five nine two four nine i think we're good i think we have enough to that's not where i want to go i think we have enough to just like not care and drop one at every point possible so this fight is a little annoying uh because of the blizzard glitch you can't like get up and punch them uh because they like the so kind of like with the the gorgon fight earlier um the blizzard glitch doesn't really like uh when you're trying to like break armor so for this boss you kind of just have to like stand back and throw the fireballs so surprisingly the fireball strat is uh used like four or five times uh because of like just safety either we want to kill something at range or how did that not kill you there we go or the blizzard glitch is like no you're not allowed to do this this time i don't even know what's over there i don't know why i ever would ever try to go over there so here if we would there we go so here is a cut scene where we're introduced to the hooded man uh how much magic do i have absolutely not uh hold on let me let me do a quick math actually now we're fine i'm not gonna bother no no i am going to farm for magic on these because it's a longer it's it's too long it's not a 45 or a second period that i would need it for so it's actually just better uh there's a few sections coming up like it's just like the environmental things where it's like oh you need to have blue magic here and you need to have red magic here but they're at like really awkward spots and if you mess up like at all it kind of like punishes you so i'm going to just whale on these to get some magic i can't believe the others haven't hired on me yet [Music] i all right so i am going to try this trick for two minutes once i get to it so few minutes after the fail because i had to clear this room ahead uh so basically this is the trick that has never been completed in a recorded run so it it's a two-step part first i have to use this uh the momentum of this to get myself over to where that purple line is and i'm gonna do that by not like that i'm gonna fall so we're just gonna go ahead and kill these otherwise they're just gonna shoot at us and then that's gonna make it even more difficult to complete if we're lucky they'll drop an item uh if we're not lucky they oh they did drop an item all right so that's even better it was clearly just farming for an item [Music] so the first thing we had to do we had to get the momentum put in us in this direction and then we have to kind of get a little bit of momentum going just so we can get to that other area and we can use the mist to kind of help us out there now from here i'm going uh not that i'm going to jump and then do an area and immediately fall off because so like 80 of the time doing that move will put you directly on the railing and not let you fall off and then the other 20 of the time i'm on the show and then it doesn't work oh i thought you were going to fall and delodge grabbed i so i actually was worried i was going to fall too sometimes you'll let you grab there and it's nice and then okay i've never recovered that okay that's cool all right i'm gonna have to do the it's not working so i'm just gonna have to do this come on oh okay awesome so that is the hardest part of this trick is landing up there and not falling specifically the second beam so basically what i'm trying to do is i'm trying to use the railing to get me up on that upper beam uh and then from there i can either jump up or jump across either way i'm going to jump across here alright there we go i completed it in a recorded speed run right that's a lot more difficult than it looks that trick is that trick is unlike me i actually forgot about this waterfall i'm glad i picked up more blue than i normally would i might get knocked off here if i do i'll just fall back down what would be your recourse if you didn't have any blue magic there just have to stop and kill that guy or what i would have just so i did i do i need blue met so yes i would have either killed them or just dropped an ensnare i did have blue magic i don't know why i'm killing these i don't need to i have blue magic because i remember like these i just forgot about that specific one so i was rationing out like i need enough blue magic for this uh and i completely forgot about the wall but yeah i probably uh in that scenario i would have just dropped an ensnared demon because all of the areas are right next to each other and just hoped i didn't mess up nope need to be missed i don't don't ask questions about what just happened that was like wrong forget what you saw move on i changed to the wrong magic like four times all right if anything bad is going to happen it's going to happen in about a minute on the next fight so this is i'm just using uh explosive earthquake it just does a bunch of damage in an area like that uh there's one more so it does have like a small recharge period if you fully drain a magic so that's why i just switched to blue everybody should be dead so i'm just gonna go on okay so this boss fight oh i still have magic alright so i'm not at risk of anything bad happening while there is a health bar up however any yeah [Music] anytime there is a health bar or not up so like for example between phases like this uh if abaddon catches me the game will soft lock now i've never experienced this uh and i don't know if it's play like console exclusive or not but if abaddon catches you uh some people have soft locked and their files have been corrupted so if anything bad's gonna happen it's this boss right here uh conveniently just be like the safe strat is also kind of fast just because of where his hitbox is because you have to hit that green orb thing uh and there's no good aerial attacks like we've discussed so the fireballs are actually just the fastest way to kill abaddon recycled on the magic oh i forgot that attack existed all right see nothing bad ever happens ray uh-huh sure you know in six months from now i'm gonna look back at whatever montage happens of this of like every instance i said nothing ever happens and then it's gonna be whatever catastrophe happens and i'm gonna look back and i'm gonna think it's funny but in about 20 or 30 minutes or so i'm gonna be having a really bad time and you're gonna be having a really great time yeah i'm gonna be laughing so hard if something terrible happens after you've been building this up i will laugh unapologetically nothing bad is ever going to happen i'm also wearing the ruby vest not that you can see it really alright so this is one of the areas where i could use the devil may cry devil meter thing and make my life a whole lot easier instead i'm going to wonder why this thing's not getting frozen instead i'm just gonna freeze all of them and hope so i have no don't do it don't do it we're good we're good i have a really long climbing section nobody's gonna hit me right and before anything happens if i get shot here it happens sometimes so it's not the worst thing in the world which means it's not gonna happen great awesome good see nothing bad has ever happened once right oh my god church why not one single time why why are you like this not a single time you know there was something i meant to check during the break uh so now i'm going to try it right now erica it is working okay we're good i don't actually think ray can see what just happened which makes it even funnier so rey you might want to watch why church it's it's fine don't worry about it nothing is happening no it's it's totally fine i saw that yeah no it's fine don't worry about it i just needed to make sure that was there uh because yeah we're good so this is the part of the game where grinch shows up and that's all we need to know oh i see why oh that's um okay i see why very much so so to answer your other question this is actually the worst thing that could have happened is that button didn't work and you only thought to check it now i made sure it worked before the run i made sure it worked like 20 times before the run [Music] all right richard's gone all right last human alive uh his name is victor belmont he is the last remaining belmont also in case you were wondering right no that cutscene is not skippable i i guessed thank you very much don't forget to turn it off okay you did okay i literally can't see when you have an honor now i i realized like as soon as i pressed the button it's like i can't actually see what's going on uh so this is vector belmont and he is the last remaining belmont uh he is going to live a very long and prosperous life so someone's degrading kerosene chat there was gore but that's not the reason why that was up there oh we'll just put it that way uh victor belmont uh so i i guess um yeah so trevor did have a son simon belmont who you play as a mirror of fate so the lineage did actually progress but this is the last belmont and he has no kids so we have to make sure he lives a very long and prosperous life because he is the last remaining belmont and it would be very terrible if the belmont lineage you know stopped existing wouldn't that prevent there from being like more dracula's in the future though well there's only one dracula it's just gabriel but he like became dracula right so that's all right so the first game had great story the dlc is where everything went wrong um also by the way victor belmont's now dead because reasons i wasn't happy with this plot point either but because he definitely does not need to die but he's dead now um so the reason specifically uh gabriel becomes dracula and again it's after he's given birth or sorry he did it's after trevor has been born so uh like it's doesn't it's not part of trevor's bloodline uh it's just gabriel um there is a plot point in the dlc in one of the dlc's for the first game where there is a a dimension where this like unbelievable monstrosity exists and the lords of shadow were what was keeping that thing bound and because gabriel killed all of them it was now free and was going to destroy the world so gabriel had to set out on a quest to kill that creature but the realm it was in can only be visited by a basically not a human so in order to go in there uh camilla's daughter lucy who was amicable towards gabriel had to give gabriel her blood and for some reason that killed her even though gabriel can give his blood alucard and it's just fine so gabriel becomes a like a vampire in order to save the world but because he's pissed that he lost his wife uh and lucy is basically the last person who was amicable towards him like we didn't like basically the last friend he had died and he just kind of like spiraled into a depressive state from there and then decided to kill all humans because that's what you do so that's kind of why he became dracula uh and because it didn't actually taint his lineage like none of the other belmonts are vampires except for the one he killed which also why doesn't he turn victor into a vampire all right i got no answers for you i'm sorry i wasn't expecting an answer i'm just mad i never thought about that until just now all right so this is the last stealth section oh okay hold on i thought i screwed up i was like wait i screwed up my strap but no we're fine i didn't drop blizzard it's fine don't worry about it it's better than you crashing the game i mean it did crash the game but oh i thought you realized it and you okay no i crashed the game but that's fine because it's this isn't one of hold on i'm gonna stop talking for a second i'm just gonna please say the words i want you to say i can reach them yeah we're good were you scared of a soft lock i was scared it would be like remember how it like put me eight checkpoints back earlier i was i was like yeah yeah i i have to fight camilla like okay well there goes that uh i didn't drop the blizzard glitch so i touched one of them they went into uh panic mode and because i'm not supposed to be able to damage anybody there the game crashed which is actually usually what happens and is totally expected i forgot to reload a checkpoint so it's no big deal we lose a few seconds but whatever uh i actually don't really care about this also i don't even really care about that i don't i have enough snare demons whatever fine all right so there's always more lore and that's a problem so there's child trevor ominously walking down this hallway and this is the second acolyte now we are the strongest creature outside of maybe satan so that's why this acolyte can just almost murder us and in fact the only reason we're still alive is because he's playing with his food um yeah i don't know why um but i'm confused we are uh yeah uh he's basically just torturing us at this point he finds it funny that we are uh trying desperately to crawl away i i don't get it is it our is it our whole entire motivation to kill satan so that we'll die but should we welcome the fact that this person's trying to kill us no but we have to kill satan first but also yes right you're not if our only motivation to kill satan is so we can die why is this a bad thing and also satan also ruined our life so you know killing satan is not a bad deal so there's a little bit of revenge in there too okay i thought it was just kill it just for the other part so that was zobeck's kind of like that was how zobeck was trying to lure him into it but it is also that he should also want to kill zobeck um which we'll get to we'll touch on that in a little bit um but yeah it's i i get to i get to again blizzard is working blizzard wasn't working for some reason it's half the i get to finally die and half the i get to actually finally kill the person who ruined my life uh so um i guess a little a little more plot uh from the first game could you stop um a little more insights um a lot of the first quests or game was gabriel trying to get a mask so that he could talk to his dead wife well sorry he was under um he was under the impression that i'm restarting this fight by the way uh he was under the impression uh that it could bring his dead wife back to life and that was a lie fed to him by zobeck um he cannot bring his wife back to life it can let him see the dead oh i actually can't restart this fight okay we're gonna have to go the rest of this without blizzard that's fine [Music] it's only mildly useful so it's not a big deal i was gonna try and reset for it but i can't actually i don't think i can get it i'm pretty sure i can't get it off this one anyway so his wife died in the first game and he was trying to get a mask so that he could bring her back uh but you find out later in the game that uh zobeck either zobeck or satan possessed gabriel and gabriel is the one who actually killed his wife uh which is why he hates satan and zobeck but so basically zobeck no yeah i think it was zobeck zombie possessed gabriel why are we playing right now uh i'm trying this is more of a test to see if i can't get blues i don't think i can get the blizzard glitch off the third acolyte but i'm trying okay i was just confused because you just said we weren't gonna have blizzard and now you're you're blue yeah i'm pretty sure i can get it yeah i'm pretty sure that that trigger just wasn't happening i was looking the damage wasn't going down i've never tried to get it off the third one i've always just assumed because that wasn't really a cutscene but i was trying uh so yeah it's it is only really useful on the last fight and even then it's only marginally faster it uh i probably wasted more time trying to get it there than i would have saved having it but i like having the blizzard glitch it's fun i was just confused no that's fair i always tried to skip these cutscenes because i'm like oh please now i can finally skip it right but it's not oh my god it's this part okay so now the unfortunate part is in the speed run setting we are now in a very more or less dry spell um [Music] the next next few minutes aren't the most help drop eats there's not a lot of combat there's it's kind of just a lot of movement and puzzles and cut scenes we have young trevor again oh also yeah we brought a real person into the fake world and killed them come on that's all that was the end of that nothing makes sense uh so we're running with zobek's lieutenant again uh we uh actually don't fully remember what the actual intention here i'm not going the right way i don't actually know why he's traveling with us right now um we're trying i guess we're trying to find the third acolyte that's probably what's going on uh oh god puzzles so the these pieces are always the same they're like rotation and location are a little bit different every time but for the most part the puzzles are the same uh so fascinating oh yeah i think the lieutenant comes around because we're trying to find the third uh acolyte i don't think there's another plot reason why he's traveling with us just that like there's you find the third acolyte and you find where satan is being resurrected basically so we're trying to stop that we have this annoying puzzle here where we have to step on nope this one here hello shadow dagger so we have to step on the and yeah [Music] annoying puzzle so we have to do this and then we have to make sure that we aren't uh standing on the same platform too long that he's on because these pressure pads will shoot i screwed that up these pressure pads will launch a fireball at the end and we need to make sure that we don't hit him with a fireball but we also need to make sure that he's actually on the platform before we get off of it and it's just very annoying uh and then this opens this door uh i think i have i have enough okay so i don't have blizzard glitch but that doesn't really matter uh we need three to be safe on the next boss three on the final so six if i have seven or more i can just drop one here and i think we have eight one two four five six seven eight excellent all right so this fight's really simple if you can have magic um so these creatures will these creatures when they do could you stop these creatures when they die or get close to death will like merge into a bigger creature but if you use this move you can just bring them all together and kill them while they're coming in or sometimes beforehand and then it's just really easy and then if this does happen it's not a big deal i'm just gonna do this now yeah we just drag them in and then they just die and then we're all good uh that was experience that dropped so i don't care uh so technically even so even if i had blizzard glitch i still would have had to have done this instead of like freezing them uh because the lieutenant refuses to actually come over until all of the enemies are cleared so anytime we have the lieutenant following us around like you just you just have to kill the enemies you can't like soup it's prank all right so uh a whole bunch of lore is about to happen i don't remember exactly how it unfolds in the next few minutes so i'm just going to start sobex lieutenant is actually alucard in the dlc at the end of the dlc after you spread all of uh gabriel's stuff throughout the castle the last thing you have to do is come back to the real world kill zobecks that's completely wrong right kill zobeck's lieutenant and steal his armor and pretend to be zomex lieutenant this entire game from the tutorial onward is a hundreds of year long plot to get revenge on zobek and satan basically they knew that this would happen that satan would be resurrected and that zobeck would try to make a deal with uh dracula gabriel uh to kill satan but in order to deceive him you can't possibly have memories because zobeck is a uh necromancer but also has telepathy so he could just read gabriel's mind and figure out that gabriel was trying to betray him so the only way to actually betray him is for gabriel to have no memories that he's going to betray him so alucard pulled some magic shenanigans with his sword the cast of grandma and wiped gabriel's memories which also caused gabriel to lose all of his powers which is why alucard had to put all the powers into fake castlevania so all of this happened so we could kill zobeck is that are you not killing satan we are killing satan after we kill zobeck okay we're going to kill zobeck and then we're going to kill satan [Music] oh so yeah i guess this fight also would have been a little bit easier with infinite blizzard glitch but it's not a big deal so up until very recently we did the last part of the game without the blizzard glitch so it's like it's not even a big deal you can get like a little bit of uh like a good i wouldn't even say like a good cycle you can sometimes save a little bit of time on when he just pops up but it's like it's it's mostly just convenient uh so for these sections there's just like four demon things up there and you have to kill them and that's it and then zobeck shows up again i got a little greedy with that just so i could save a little bit of time uh hopefully i don't run out but i have enough so even if i wasted a little bit of time i'll be fine uh if i go really quickly i might be able to finish him off on this one probably not it's not a big deal come on yep so this fight is like a little scary uh when you have not as much else as i do and when you're not abusing a move that just infinitely heals you but because the move just kills you it's like it doesn't matter and then once this happens he sets this up which obviously we can't get through it right all right so after all this time we kill zobeck we're finally getting our revenge after all this time and now all that's left to do is kill satan so we've got about i want to say like 10 minutes left and most of it is just backtracking i have today that's fine i was not expecting the pb today oh no i was i was meaning because some big stuff has gone wrong it's not gone wrong it's just you know i've crashed the game once or twice it's only been once the cheap point thing is not a crash it's just me being really sad i can't believe and i got bad blizzard ah i'm actually i can't believe i'm only at two and what i'm looking at is a little behind so i'm probably like two two one i can tell you 30 or something 209 25. close enough yeah i can't believe i'm i expected to be a little bit farther behind but that's actually pretty good i mean technically it's better than the time i had on my own show you don't need to delve further than that you could just leave it at that you don't need to point out that i was teaching the game on my show i guess this is also slightly annoying without blizzard glitch this is going to be a little bit of slamming my head against the wall until it works or getting really nope never mind yeah i grind me so this is a really easy glitch or it's not even a glitch it's a really easy skip if everybody just leaves me alone just don't look at me see easy easy that is one of the other places where people have suggested maybe using the uh devil meter but and you just you just do it until it works right it's fine uh that was a giant mech fighting to uh demon creatures i the other one was called abaddon i don't know if they're all called abaddons i don't know so this is like the fast travel system in the game which we've used absolutely zero times uh so we're gonna use it once right at the end of the game so that we can go back to the start of the game where the game is going to end make sense right sure we'll say that uh so it turns uh i i guess it's not where he is because it's just a ritual but we woke up at a church in the beginning of the game and that church is where the last acolyte is raising satan so we had to go back there and then stop satan from being resurrected right because we'll get there in time this is also like the part of the game where like you have i i might be a little bit wrong on this but i'm pretty sure there's like some areas you couldn't get to it now so that would be the time you i'm going the wrong way you could like go find all of the other collectibles or anything you're missing or you could go straight to the end of the game uh got four now i'm fine i could there is a semi inconvenient magic font i could go to um or i could just go for it uh so this is the last mirror fade puzzle i didn't even bring this up uh until now uh you notice how the mirror of fate fits in my hand right now the mirror of fate is supposed to be a giant mirror like one bolted to a wall that doesn't move it's fine you you just have a portable version for plot yeah it's it's just i mean we're talking about something that's literally called the mirror of fate it's a plot convenience item to begin with so you're not wrong it just connects back to the one at home yeah it's your portable mirror of fate with 5g yeah it's your it's your cell phone version of mirror it's your smart mirror all right i'll leave this one up to you this one's a little gory but it's not necessarily grinched worthy well i mean the grinch on the last one was for reasons enjoy gore look away we'll tell you when it's safe it's really bad i don't like looking at this one again the cut scenes that i want to skip i cannot skip this one is this one is not fun so that's a serious warning if you do not look like gore look away now if you do not like gore you need to look away like right now this is unnecessary [Applause] i'm about to get real anime on you this is like going from psychopath season one to psychopath season two and you're like seriously why you did not need to do this there was no gore in the fourth season you could have just left it at that oh i like this one in chat church it's the mirror fate remote play version oh that's pretty good yeah it's pretty good i just spot right after this why does satan have a demonic cod piece look [Music] why not you can anybody who is looking to wake up look back would you rather be an angelic god piece like try to avoid the explosions of energy wow hello play again again uh so like alucard's like hey don't get hit by that and it doesn't matter in the slope it did like three damage it yeah it does like three damage it is not it said yeah it it also it doesn't knock you off like you can't oh you can't fall off it does like three damage i don't exactly know how like number wise how much health i have but it's a lot so like i'm pretty sure i could sit on one for like four minutes and be fine okay so we got these banshee creatures again we're gonna get punched instead of actually killing them i feel like you could just throw them off but they can fly i mean they're floating they're not flying there's a difference i mean yeah you're not wrong we're also yeah we are on like the back of a giant demon right now presumably miles and miles above the city so yeah you would think that would work but all right we are into the final fight of the game we are going to fight alucard what yeah we're going to fight outlook why uh so before that we're gonna we're gonna do that uh devil may cry meter thing you were talking about hey it's time for your double gauge all right giant yeah our devil trigger all right we turned into a dragon we did some damage all right moving on all right so uh yeah we're gonna fight alucard and uh yeah uh so there's actually lord behind god did he get possessed by satan like what's going on here okay come on it's is it that obvious yeah uh satan satan possessed allu card and is making you fight your own son uh so yeah final bosses alucard yeah because that's like the classic satan move like that's the trope yeah yeah if there's a father and son about to fight satan one of them is going to be possessed like that's just what's going to happen you're not wrong so usually it's the other way around usually they make the sun fight the father but then you'd have to play as alucard and alucard's skill set sucks to be perfectly honest oh yeah so there's like four phases between each one of them uh alucard satan will go in the air and like shoot these missiles at you uh they don't hurt at all like you do take damage i guess and you get knocked over but it also doesn't matter if i dodge them or not like those phases are the same amount of time no matter what so it doesn't matter if you get hit by them or not uh whirlwind really does make this game really easy because like oh no i took damage i guess i'll just heal it all back up it's almost like the whirlwind heals me for 60 damage each hit yep and i'm i'm doing if i get a good whirlwind like i don't know 10 or 12 procs or something like yeah it's uh all right could you not so i would have to dodge a little bit less but even here like because uh just how the ai works it still is pretty difficult to uh time also not that it super matters time though should have called that out earlier um yeah like the blizzard doesn't help too much he still dodges a lot so it's not like a big deal not having it uh yeah okay we beat actually this cutscene is if we're gonna watch any of them it's this one don't know me satan [Music] this is this is the only cutscene at the end that matters the slow motion yeah oh he bluffed him he blocked him he all right okay we had to say it at least once i you've been you've been waiting to say that i know is this where you pull out the old school league of legends meme he was baited and outsmarted oh my that is so old school oh yeah that's pre-season one that's pretty seasonal nice no i'm not gonna lie to you i forgot about that one all right well while we're letting this wrap up and uh dracula's gonna save his son or however this is to happen uh want to give us your shout outs tell us about your show we've we've talked about it tangentially but we haven't actually like fully plugged it uh so i have a show uh it's not my show it is every other thursday after the first step so at 10 pm ish not this week but next week and then every second week after that it's called how to train a speedrunner uh and the premise of the show is uh especially uh with like uh how popular speedrunning is becoming and a lot of like new people the speed running community talk about how difficult it is to get in which is some games that might be true but a lot of the the games uh that people are like oh it's really hard to get into it's it's just there's like some barrier that people are like oh it's really hard when it's really not so the point of the show is to get very bit like beginner level tutorials of games on to show people like this is it's really easy to get into speed running um you don't have to start with the you like if you let's use like super mario 64 for example i picked a game that i don't know all of the strat names in but uh like you don't need to be able to do all of the like top level tricks to get all of the stars really quickly you can just start with basic strats and then move up from there because a lot of games will have strats where it's like this is a really easy strap but it's slower this is like a medium strat and it's immediately fast this is a really hard strap but it's fast and a lot of people like look at that and be like ah it's a huge barrier when in reality is like you just need to play the game like just play the game learn the easy strats and then build up from that because that's what all of the top level players do like uh all of the world record holders and all of the big games they didn't get there immediately doing all the hard strats they started with a foundation and worked their way up so the purpose of the
