[Music] or eight people on youtube-land Zachary Hall back here with another review for you and today we're going to look in the common man's reference Bible the fifth edition and I'm going to be doing a comparison today between the third and the fifth so if you want to see a full review on the common man's reference Bible the notes and all of that stuff go ahead and scroll to the bottom of my videos list this is one of the first reviews I did was a third edition and I'll Gill I go over how to use it the different notes and all that stuff today I'm just going to be comparing the fifth in the third edition and the differences between the two and I am happy to report that for the most part there are no differences which is a good thing so on my left here is the fifth edition and brother Hoffman was kind enough to send me a fifth edition out he did say he would send me one with a Miss imprint here and you can see so I think this was supposed to be pastor brian kelly and so you know past Tawaf maybe it was French who knows but I had mine stamped as well when I got mine so this is the third edition on the right fifth edition on the left both come in lambskin covers which are really nice mine is a little bit more smooth in the fact that feels it more like it's more ironed out and this one has a lot more green and texture to it so I'll show you that so you can see it's got a nice feel and touch to it and it feels a little bit of thicker thicker of a cut than my third edition one so definitely an improvement I think over the third at they're both lambskin again but they're really soft and you can get both of these editions from the pure words of truth website they both are still up so if you like one or the other better you can still pick you see it has beautiful gold gilding now mine had that I did a blue art gilt underneath so I added that to mine comes with two nice ribbon markers these are really long which I really like in a Study Bible this size because you really need that to be a little pull to the side so I think they're even longer than the ones in my 3rd edition so that's awesome you got some good head and tail bands here and then on the spine you have Holy Bible authorized King James read letter addition column as reference Bible and then Hoffman brother Hoffman's one that publishes this give you a quick look at the back of this so again just a nice lamb skin and if you're gonna get your name and printed on one these and you're gonna get it I highly encourage you lambskin is one of the best leathers to imprint something on it lasts forever because lambskin because it's so soft and imprints really easily so like if you leave this Bible on like a spiral ring notebook or you leave it like hanging on halfway of a box the impression of the box or the spiral rings will go into the lambskin and I'll be there for a while so that's why they tell you not to set lambskin on anything but as far as imprinting that means it's a good thing because they're know lasts forever because it really gets deep into the leather and I can even feel that here on this one that feels really good it's well done it does have this raised spine hubs too I failed to mention that it is perimeter stitched with a imitation leather cover and that does feel really good and sturdy now they bound v one way tighter than the third one the third one has a lot more breathing room I feel like this fifth one is really you can see the tab how big it is and so that means that when you'd like just churn the pages it's going to be a little bit more tighter of a spine which can be a good thing for it just it kind of hinders you getting into the middle margin sometimes I think I really like what he does with the presentation pages here we're gonna get a few card stock but then this presentation page you can see the difference here between these papers this apartment paper so it's a little bit more yellow it's got a nice old-school feel to it so for your family record section I think that's really cool you'll see in the third edition it's the same thing there as well so you can see they've got that yellow parchment paper now everything at the beginning here is the same so the title page is the same you're like you're a dedicated dedication that he has is going to be the same all of that will be the same at the beginning so you can see here is a printing though so you can see the fifth edition was done in 2019 the third edition in 2014 so that's five years difference between my Edition and this newest one and I always love that he puts this in here the since the Word of God is not bound in me honest and sincere use of the maps marginal references footnotes text and comments and this work is granted no monetary gain for use of granted dishonest use is forbidden lawful I really like he puts that in there he's really trying to help Bible believing people and allows this to be a true resource to somebody so if you want to get in contact with him or thank him for doing this you can reach him at that email there and those are the two churches that he is affiliated with he puts the Epistle dedicatory in there so you're gonna see this is the same epistle to dedicatory there there's mine so here is the end of the Epistle but at dedicatory here's a preface to the common man so this is why he wrote it again if you want a full in depth review of this go to my review on the third edition and you can look at that but that to the preface he has a dedication for his work now I don't know if you can tell already but the paper and the third edition for me personally the third editions paper is a lot better it has less show through it's a little bit more smooth to the touch it has less ghosting so I'll try to get down here and you can judge for yourself so obviously they're gonna be ghosting where there's no line but you can see where there's words there's really no ghosting now we come over here they get this on the light you can see that is a little bit worse as far as the ghosting goes and I'll show you that when we get into Genesis 1 so then you'll have a table of contents here on the books and their chapters and you see how it's kind of laid out there you get the introduction the center column reference kind of laid out like a Scofield beautiful text I love how the common man's reference Bibles laid out they did a really good job when they formatted the but see if we can get in here and show you this come on camera focus okay so you can see the ghosting there is pretty intense and we'll go over here to this one and this is the same light so that's why I wanted to do this but you can see it's there but it's not as intense the ghosting isn't as tense as this one now the difference also being this text right here is definitely darker and I'm gonna see if I can't get you that comparison there but see you can even tell here this is open way easier this is a lot looser of a binding this right here is tight already you can see it's bending into the gutter you can see I have more room here the gutter looks bigger than the gutter here it is the same size so you have to worry about that but the paper just looks and feels a lot thinner it actually if you have one of the Church Bible publishers wide margin Scofield's the newest editions they put out it reminds me exactly of that paper so it's a little bit thinner but it I don't see it handling any different than this one as far as writing goes but I just do be aware of that so you can see the gutter there how its bound a little bit more tight than this one this is more open so I kind of like the feel of this one a little bit better but this could be just because this is not broken in so the font and this one's definitely darker and again I don't know if we're going to be able to kind of get that I'll show you on camera but and the good thing is that as far as I can tell there were no notes that were switched I'll show you what was added mainly all has to do with what's in the back but everything's in the same place pretty much so you can see Genesis 2 so there Genesis 2 is there I'm going to try to get to the shot to compare this font so to me the one on the left is just slightly darker so this fonts a little bit more bold than this font but the paper is a little bit better in this one and so I it's kind of give-and-take on the readability for both they're both very readable I don't think you have a problem reading it another major difference is going to be that the fifth edition is red letter so here's some red layer and the red letter and this is really good I really do like this this reminds me of the large print from church Bible publishers it's the same type of red and the paper reminds me a lot at the large church from Bible publishers large print from Bible publishers so you can see there that it does have some ghosting and when you get black on red it can get a little busy but it's line matched for the most part so it's really not going to be that big of a deal again that red is really beautiful now in my Edition there is no red letter and personally speaking I don't care for a red letter I know people do I think it's just easier when you're studying not to have a bunch of different color fonts but I do get why people like red letter so you can see going through mine there's there is no red letter there so you can see the difference right there and so I mean the notes in this are amazing they're gonna come from a dispensational view they're gonna be King James only of course I'm King James only he compiles it from a lot of different authors which is what I like about this so it's not just his opinions but he does gather a lot of stuff archaeological evidence economic stuff government things from different people and then he has different authors for Bible passages bible quotes and all those things so i think he does a really good job of consulting many authors in this and i'm tell you the fun and this is really do I really do like how dark it is it says the paper is a little bit thinner and it cause a little bit more bleed through but it's not bad this would be a great wide margin Bible for anybody who's interested if there's only ninety-nine dollars from his website so I think that's a steal for really any Study Bible like I said the Rahman reference goes for 159 so you're getting this you know about $70 cheaper somewhere in there so that's a that's a really good steal and I say they're on par for the same quality so we'll get to the back here and it looks like this is red-letter all the way throughout so even a revelation once we get there you'll see that so again in mind isn't but now the thickness the size everything is the same the paper is a little bit different I have noticed that show you guys here there's so no red letter I do want to show you how the paper will take now I didn't write in this one because I'm going to do a giveaway so I'm going to give this one away if you've made it this far in the video I will be doing a giveaway for this common man's edition because I have this third and it's it's mostly the same thing and I wanted to show this for you guys and then be a blessing just give it away to somebody who needs it but you see I did a lot of writing here in the book of Romans so this is an l5 pigma micron you can see it does go ghost through obviously because it's just white space there is however no bleed through so the paper is good to write on you won't have to worry about that I did a lot of writing here in Roman so you can even see there's red bro with Fred didn't bleed through it all so even though the paper is slightly different I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and assume since they're very close that they are gonna take ink of the same by the same way same way so now when we get to the big difference here is in the back in the third edition what I liked that he did was that he just left a note section so there is about probably oh maybe 10 to 12 sheets of note paper back here so it leaves you about 20 to 24 pages for notes and they're big pages I mean it's the same size of the Bible so you can really pit a lot of notes in there the maps will be the same however the maps are printed a little bit better in my third edition by getting to the end of Revelation here we'll see the difference heap it's two studies that he's done in the back here so he has seven steps to learn the scriptures and I have read through all these the reason why I haven't I had not done this review earlier is because I wanted to read through these and I'm not gonna go through them in any detail but I will tell you this I love this addition to this edition of the common man's reference these studies are awesome they are detailed they're laid out well that if you if you were having a Bible study I mean this is in here he puts us in here for you guys so if you if you're trying to teach someone about the scriptures there honestly wanting to learn more about the scriptures here's a beautiful Bible study seven steps to learn the scriptures and it goes on for a while I mean you've got a good amount of information here a lot of comparing Scripture with Scripture it's a lie it's outlined really well it's easy to follow and then after that he has a perfect unity under a pure final authority and I just finished reading this one yesterday and I was very impressed with this he goes kind of through what like major professors and people in major ministries would say about the Word of God and then actually compares their statements with what they would say so he takes these seven truths as something we would all hold together so for example someone who is even a critical text opponent or proponent and a PR person or a King James person would say these seven things so we would say the Bible is the final authority for all matters faith and practice we would say the scripture is given by inspiration of God scripture is an arrant Jesus Christ called the Word of God the Lord Jesus Christ is sinless and holy today the Messiah saved the world as the nation of Israel Satan is the first being to cast down upon Word of God so we'd all agree with those statements but he goes how they would actually deviate from those things by the way they say things and I thought it was a really good study to show that in the King James we do have a pure final Word of God in the English language and again I hold to the TR position so it's not for me it's not Dublin's raishin he does hold to a double inspiration view and he argues it well I disagree with it but that's the point of study Bibles is that it pushes you to study so I do appreciate his insights I think he does his study very well he lays it out very well and honest for people to see compare the Scriptures now I want to show you guys these maps so that's really the only big difference between the third and the fifth that I could find now if there's some different notes some of you guys that maybe have gotten more in depth than this you could tell me and show me and I would definitely be glad to I'm in this video but everything was on the same page so it seemed like all the notes for the same the major difference is you have a note section in the third edition you don't get that in the fifth but you do get two awesome studies from the Bible about the Word of God and then here you're gonna have these maps now and if you can see this you can see it's kind of more pixelated here it's a little bit more blurry yeah things aren't as printed as well it's still very readable but when you come over here to this one you can just see that that's printed way better so I don't know I don't know what happened there but like I said it's not bad wouldn't a doll dissuade me from buying this Bible because like I said again I don't use maps now what I love about brother Hoffman though look at this scriptural references for the maps oh my goodness we use the Bible to prove Maps what a what a concept his route of the Exodus it's probably one of my favorite Bible maps of all time because he's not afraid like Oxford or Cambridge to actually Pitt where the people cross the Red Sea because he's not afraid of scholarship or what other people will think so you can see he has a clear Red Sea crossing but again he's going to try to back this all up with Scripture as you see along the way here he has Mount Sinai and Arabia and I like the Galatians for 25 reference I think that is a key thing people don't take into consideration when they study that but again he gives all of these in details so these maps are really really solid and there's a the big references for the route of the Exodus so you can read the story of the Exodus and those passages there and then he has the entrance from wandering the wilderness for 40 years into the Promised Land he has a general location of the tribes [Applause] and then there was the kingdom of David so again he gives you a reference so a lot of Bibles would say it's not this big but if you do read the scripture references this map is pretty accurate to the to the references of the scriptures I think this isn't the time of Christ there you have Paul's missionary journeys so you have a lot of helpful maps here in the back and ones that are gonna be biblically accurate I'm very happy with the maps when I got the 3rd edition that was like one of the cool things was oh he actually has a crossing of the you know the Red Sea so I thought that was really cool so that is the main comparison so really the major difference is the lambskin cover is slightly more tough in this edition the binding is a little bit more tough so that gutter isn't broken in as well so I kind of just flip to the middle so you can see what I'm talking about here so you can see this raises up way more than this one so the inner gutter is gonna be a little bit tighter to get some notes in however once you break this thing in like you should and read it and study it this thing should lay perfectly flat for us but in that then the paper quality is slightly different the fonts darker in this one it's more gray in this one however there's less show through in this one than there is in this one this one is red leather the third edition is not red letter and then in the back you have the two studies the seven steps to learn the scriptures and a perfect unity under pure or final authority and then in this one you have a note section but you don't have the studies so I hope this is a help to you guys if you do have any questions please let me know keep an eye out for the giveaway I'll be doing that very soon I'm not going to remove this name from it I'm gonna let the winner do that there are ways to do that in YouTube you can look that up and and find some safe alternatives to taking this off even I know some bookstores do a little plaque you can put over the top of these but I just don't want to do that because I don't want to give away a damaged Bible to somebody so now I just want to think that our hopping again for allowing me to review this again the good thing if you love the common man's reference Bible there's not a huge difference between the 3rd and the 5th edition I think there are some good improvements here I love the studies we'd like to see the notes section still in there just so people could take more notes but I understand the space I I love the studies if I had to pick today I would probably choose the studies I think those are very helpful the paper is decent enough in here you should be able to write in it and get many many years of use out of this so I hope this reviews a blessing to you guys if you have any more questions about this please let me know in the comments and I'd be happy to answer them but take care and God bless [Music] [Applause] [Music]
