go there we go hi guys i'm melissa maro with vintage bee designs and raven staging and today we are closing on this brand new house we have decided to personally move and we found a little bit of a fixer-upper that we thought we'd take you on a little tour because we are going to video the entire process of renovating and updating this house so uh let's go take a look and i'll give you a sneak peek on some of the things that we're gonna be doing if you have any questions or ideas please feel free to let us know in the comments let's go so it's a cute little brick it was house by somebody that was a dog breeder so throughout when we did the tour there were tons of dog things and some anomalies that are kind of makes sense if you think about the fact so one of the first things we'll stop for a second one of the first things that needs to happen is we need a makeover on i love this door i was going to replace the door sue has convinced me we can keep it because on the other side and i'm sure she'll want to show you this little window actually opens up so you can peek through the glass to say hi to people like it's old school right it's cute as a button this house had a lot of gothic design in it so that's very cool but it's not quite my style we're going to renovate this with a very french country approach and not so much the the um the pinks and the blues more the old school french country where it's more of the hunter greens the sunflower lemon yellows and the um the blacks so we're definitely going to be having a lot of black and white and the dining room is going to get some ship left but we'll talk about that when we get in there so tell me you guys what color do you think we should paint the front door i know black is an easy option but i just don't think i want a black door i want something a little brighter in this little cubby yeah i would like something brighter so keep that in mind drop it in the comments what color should we paint the front door oh oh look how gorgeous that is how 70s is that come on right so the shirt or 80s definitely coming down i've already ordered lighting for pretty much all of the rooms and i've ordered those from 40 west and hopefully they'll be here very soon contractors actually come to start demo tomorrow so we're replacing all of the flooring throughout this trim is getting painted to a bright white you can kind of see where they repaired because they had a a strange little layout right there to put up doggie gates and then they had to fix the flooring it was weird we're literally having all of the tile worked out and we're gonna have um vinyl laminate flooring put throughout because we have animals as well and grandkids and we want the look of hardwood floor without the maintenance so we're having vinyl um the the planks the stick down vinyl planks put out they actually look really nice but all of the tile has to go in order for them to do that the choice was either knock out all the tile or the rooms like the these two front rooms that have carpeting they would have to be tiled and then go over and everything would have to have concrete put over it but that raises the floor which makes the baseboards look smaller things like that so we're opting to actually rip out all of the tile throughout the house so this is the formal dining room i wish you could see the chandelier that had been here because boy was it looked like something that belonged in a minimal dungeon it was crazy it was neat but this was one of the big selling features for me because now that my kids are grown and gone and all of my kids are married my oldest son has three kids that when we go to sit for a family dinner which isn't very often because my daughters live in georgia but when we do come to sit for a family dinner even when it's just my son his wife and his kids the current house that we have we don't all fit in the dining room so i'm very excited to bring back my dining room table that actually seats 10. and uh i am really excited about that this room is going to show the polish all in black and white we're going to have a lovely bench that's going to be here in the window that is a vintage bench but you'll see pieces as we're getting ready to refinish them this room is getting completely ship-left and i'm it's the only room in the house i'm not usually a trend follower like that but this room because i'm going to have so much black in it i do want a lot of weight and the white ship lap is the best way to accomplish my goal and notice that pocket door behind her there are lots of pocket doors and i love that lots of pocket doors all of which have lovely dog scratches all over them so we can we're gonna contain our dogs the same way yeah we probably will contain our dogs the same way so let's go this way and then we'll go down the hallway so this gorgeous piece is not staying much to sue's chagrin so beautiful she really wants to stay right there coming to pick it up today um it's just not a piece that completely fits my style and really what they wanted there was a actually an estate sale going on here with a this this piece is listed for twenty two hundred dollars which to be honest is probably a steal for the piece it's old world man it's beautiful but it's not something that i really want so this room is gonna be the um i'm gonna say man cave but it's not really because i'm gonna decorate it but josh will have a desk over here tv for at a seating area here for john to play his video games do his office work things like that sort of for him to have a space that he can relax but because it's the entry area to the house it is still gonna have to have my style in it so sorry john but he he knew what he was getting into it plays for video games he's happy as long as he can have video games and a tv at a desk he's totally fine he can care less how it's decorated what are what are you doing up there so um we are going to actually make some little shelves that pop up to there so that our cats can play up there i have five cats for those who don't know they're all black and white or all black and they love to roost and watch things so we'll definitely have a cat tree that can reach up there and we're gonna have little shelves for them to pop their way up there because we know they're gonna love that we got so many people they like tours of houses who doesn't so this is our living room and um again all the floor is getting ripped out uh it's a little shiny for me really it's it's such a weird pattern on there too which is probably good for a little puppy claws to dig into it was probably fairly easy to clean but it's again not my style nor is the color so i haven't picked out the color for the room yet but the furniture that we have is um sort of between an emerald and a teal green um like a dark tealy green and they're velvet so it's going to have to be something dark and rich and we are having somebody paint these rooms because i don't want to paint the ceiling towards the ceiling i'm afraid of heights i'm not looking forward to that so we definitely have um this little the tv is going to be bouncing up here i'm not sure what we're going to do there yet i may have custom bookshelves made for that area ideas put them in the description of the drop box what to do what to do with the nook the comments area that's it put them in the comments area um the weird thing about the layout of this room is that you can't really have a sofa that goes too far or it blocks the entrance into this area so you have to make sure it stays this way and you can't go too far here or it comes out this way so this has really been a challenge to my design skills on how do i get maximum seating in this room because again when the whole family is together i do want lots of seating and how we're going to lay out this but of course enjoy it daily for entertainment purposes i need to get baby bumpers around though baby bumpers around the fireplace and so aside from the dining room this is the room i am the most excited about so i'd like to say that we were ripping out all of the cabinets and getting new ones but unfortunately it's not in the budget and to be honest the cabinets are really pretty high quality everything has the pull out the pull out drawers so for me to get the same kind of quality cabinetry would cost a lot of money and so i'm keeping one here but i'm replacing the countertops these are going to be white quartz and all of the cabinetry is getting painted black pretty so i'm very excited and wait until you see the tile backsplash i have planned so gorgeous and of course all new lighting fixtures all the lighting fixtures are coming out yeah these are all weird i don't understand what they're going for i guess brighter i love the hanging one so she does not like the hanging ones i hate the hanging ones hand blown glass so we're getting um little pot lights put in and this chandelier right here is coming out and a little chandelier that has a ceiling fan that comes out and hides itself when it's not in use is going there so we'll actually have um a pretty ceiling fan in the kitchen little tiny one so it's going to look really industrial and cool so i'm super excited about this new faucet new sink new countertops we are keeping the appliances and i'm debating about painting them so this has been a discussion do i paint them do i not paint them i saw when um debbie beard from debbie's design diaries painted her refrigerator in black like chalkboard paint and i love it i don't know that i want black because all the cabinets will be black but i have to say i was in love with that so again what do you think what do you think what do you think so many ideas and ultimately the reason we're moving is this room because in my current location in our current house i have no place to craft no place i used to do it at the store which you know we closed we opened a little one but there's no place for me to craft in the little store and unless i want to go to my warehouse which is too far from home and craft i can't craft at night which is what i like to craft so i needed a craft room which is why we're selling our house and moving so here is my new craft and it's huge huge huge huge so big there's even like four feet behind soon where she's standing right now that's true so lots of natural light um i just can't wait i'm so excited the the brick floors i don't have to worry if i get paint on them um i'm just over the moon excitement and if we go through her room this way this is my new office because i also don't have an office in my courthouse which again since we closed the big building has been a problem working at home i've been trying to work in the dining room or in the front room so this will be my new office i've already got my desk picked out so excited to be able to have a space to actually come home and do the work or stay home and do the work not trying to deal with the hustle and bustle of everybody else i can just shut my doors and everybody knows i'm at the office and this will be my new office so yeah and i actually have more storage so that if the craft area runs over i have a place to put craft runneth over like is that ever gonna happen the craft run is over yeah yeah so this is the guest bathroom from the main living room um it needs some help for sure wallpaper must come down for sure that's gonna be a fun project i'm thinking i'm gonna paint the tiles which one do you want to paint we were originally gonna rip everything out and get it but once we got the budget it just was a little much so um eventually this may get gutted and redone but for now the shower and the toilet are nice um we just need to do a little zhang and paint some stuff and replace the countertop definitely it's a little a little pretty and up over in here need some pretty enough so this is going to be projects that we're pretty much going to take on our own we got this more storage there's a there's a closet in there oh yeah there's another closet here huge storage on to my suite this is super sweet because you know lives with us and uh she always sort of gets the random room and has to share her bathroom with guests so this time she actually gets her own suite so this one i'll still have to share with guests well you will stop the show with guests but because i plan on turning that room into a guest room right so this is her bedroom lots of nice natural light it's a nice big room i'm just excited i can see a tree it's got a big closet and her bathroom is the only bathroom in the house that's actually getting a full gut job at reno so we're ripping all of this out she's getting new flooring um she's getting we're gonna do a piece of furniture with quartz over the top of it and uh new pretty mirrors your pretty lighting brand new walk-in shower i'll let you show them their brand new walk-in shower take a peek into this little dungeon of a shower it's got some problems so i'm glad it's going goodbye goodbye in case you see me back there i'll go see the other one yeah and then this will be become a guest room the majority of these shelves were going to move over into the office your office correct so none of these are attached they're just really big they're custom shelves made we're going to have these painted and then they'll be moved into the office did a good job on them i love the little dental molding on there so these will paint up nice i would like to keep one in here and then i'll have my little office so everybody gets an office and then you can edit photos and what have you and then we'll have a guest room in here as well so when the feebster comes to visit yep so my granddaughter comes she'll have her own room again because right now we turn her room the guest room which was really decorated for her the guest room into our office which john and i share which is not conducive to anything so this will go back to being we'll actually have a guest room in our house again so mom wherever you are you can come visit again that's right that's right we'll be right back you ever see one of those they call it a phone crazy it didn't attach to the wall so it's been ringing since we've been here which is the most weird thing okay so this is the master bedroom again for gutted i'm this is going to go more of the pretty gardening french country because that's how i like my bedroom to be super girly back here so this will be more of the blues and the teals um but still very french i know i was demanding of carpet in my rooms over there are you putting carpet in your room i'm not putting carpeting on oh wow okay i do already have an area picked out and bought they're at the warehouse so now we are keeping uh this will be the vinyl flooring here with a nice big area okay so um to check out my closet oh she's got room is like 4x8 look at that yeah her and john share the tiniest of closets i can't even believe they put it in a master older homes yes i get it newer homes i was just shocked how small their closet is we live in now but it really is the tiniest little closet and then master bath which we're going to be doing some work i really wanted to gut it straight off but it is not getting gutted it will be a future gut project but not right now but she's got a soaking tube which i am so excited about so but it is definitely you know usable in the meantime until we get around to the good part you're gonna paint this i'm gonna paint everything okay if it's not moving it's getting painted except for the granite countertop and i need that i mean the tub's getting painted the shower is getting painted the floors are getting painted oh i know laundry rooms aren't normally exciting so washer dryer area nothing spectacular everybody loves a sink except that i do not have a sink i have not had a sink in my last two houses in the laundry room so i'm thrilled to have a sink in the laundry room but check out this oh this room here it's just like what the hell kind of a room is it it's just a room this is gonna be the pet room so this is actually where we can put the litter boxes where they're not underfoot and we can have extra storage and all the pet foods all of that are going to go in here the animals can eat in here um so this is the pet room for us get their own little space even even the pets get a room yeah you want to show the garage too haven't see our garage which is really handy that we do have a sink here because we're going to have a workshop out in the garage so john has started doing some woodworking so this is all coming out work spaces are getting put in we're removing the big hot water heater to put in a tankless i am so thankful for a tankless so we're having a tankless and in case you're wondering about these this house has an internal vacuum system which means you just plug this cord into the walls and it sucks it into that tubulator it's an electrolux central vacuum system if you've never had a central vacuum system they are so amazing so very handy they're great they're just absolutely amazing and then the last thing on our list is the backyard oh we need some paint on these walls so first thing is doggie door already built in we're going to replace it with one of the electronic ones so the dogs can let themselves out and they can let themselves out into this beautiful fenced in ah nice size run around and over the course of several months um probably a year actually because it's taking that long to get on the list once we sell our other house we're actually going to put in a pool so we have a pool and a lanai out here for us to enjoy the florida sun john that's the only thing he wanted was a pool and we will have enough money left over after we um finance this house and close on that house to put a pool in for him so that'll probably take about a year because it's that long to get on the list now to get him out but anyway i hope that you have enjoyed this little tour of the before of our house we have contractors starting work tomorrow so they're estimating it's going to take about six to eight weeks to get all the work done and of course we're going to have work to do in the process so we're going to be doing a little video series on each step along that way and then we'll also do a video series on getting our current house ready to sell because we have some projects there where we were upgrading and remodeling to stay in the house that we've decided we're moving so some of the projects we've done are now gonna effectively have to be undone and we got to get things finished and things finished where we have half done projects a lot of a lot a lot of half done projects so we'll be taking you as a tour on that as we get those things done as well sadly i haven't figured out how to bring my cat house with me so i guess that's gonna have to stay at the old house gonna have to figure something out if i figure something out so anyway i hope you've been
