Standoff between Columbia University and protesters demonstrating against the Israel Hamas war reached a boiling point today, university giving an encamped demonstrators until Monday afternoon to clear out or risk suspension. Jay o'brien has the story after a nearly two week long standoff between the university and encamped demonstrators protesting the Israel Hamas war. Columbia University giving students until Monday afternoon to leave or face suspension. Protesters refusing these repulsive scare tactics mean nothing compared to the deaths of over 34,000 Palestinians protesters demanding the school divest from weapons, manufacturing and other investments that support Israel the school saying no to after talks between university officials and demonstrators broke down. I appreciate that the president was clear that we are not that the university is not divesting from Israel Colombia is just one of several universities gripped by protests over the unfolding conflict in Gaza. Ok, bye now at the University of Texas. Police in riot gear moving in once again Monday to clear out a group of protesters meantime, us officials rushing to secure even a brief pause in the fighting Secretary of State Anthony Blinken meeting with Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman on a middle East swing laying out the groundwork for a potential mega deal normalizing relations between Israel and the Saudi Kingdom. In return for the Israelis committing to a path toward a two state solution for Palestinians. And Blinken publicly calling on Hamas to accept what he called an extraordinarily generous ceasefire proposal from the Israelis that would provide desperately needed humanitarian aid and secure the release of the 133 remaining hostages. The only thing standing between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire is Hamas. All of this comes as President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke by phone over the weekend talking about that potential deal and the president urging the Israeli leader not to expand his already ongoing offensive in Gaza, Jake o'brien, ABC News, Washington.
