all you don't honor the god you know it's been it's been a rough patch man but i told my team this and i want everybody to understand this okay a lot of people want this job so they think but i'm the man that's built for this job every day man we grind we grind don't question us don't question who we are what we do or how we play we're vanderbilt man commodores anchoring [Applause] otis anderson just gets enough of a block on the edge to allow mac the room to make that throw ocho no he's one play away from getting out of that situation he was one play away from losing his shirt too looks like beau was all over martinez over there didn't it for uh for a time sure did holding number 71 in the office ten-yard penalty first down that's surly's this is it just offer a little encouragement there i guess to the young man wow wow that was uh do you know why you got the unsportsmanlike no i don't i got the guy ran 40 yards away and dropped a flag i have no idea what is your i'd rather him drop it on my feet did you say anything yeah prior to that yeah something that you think wanted an unfortunate like it's not my judge drop it on my feet next time so clearly you were unhappy about the totality i'm not gonna i'm not gonna comment about anything else don't go 40 yards away and drop a flag how about that yeah bob a couple weeks ago i asked you if this team was tough enough and you said you didn't know yeah and i didn't like the question then yeah so you didn't know you said you didn't guys you're asking something because we had fumbled the ball twice had nothing to do with being tough we played a good physical kansas state team and we we were there with them you turn the ball over and give to have a 14 point swing you're not going to win i thought it was a dumb question i still think it is coach saban down there with 46 seconds left he is hot under the collar that they gave up that touchdown well he's mad at coach kiffin because they had a fumble and that's definitely he doesn't like that play call selection because when you have moving parts that has the potential of happening rather just hand it off and then the coverage mistake on the back end on defense saul digs in that picture just before 2-yard line it's a 48-yard punt as brayton man does it again and jimbo fisher wants his team to calm down and that's how you express it he is in the face of trying braille datsun his linebacker right there and i think there's a little bit of frustration what you got to do to improve is catch the ball i mean throw and catch protect throw and catch you know there's nothing wrong with the route the route's there and the ball is thrown there you got to catch the football and uh you know i hate to lay it out there like that but that's just the way it is so i don't have a whole lot of time in front of the cameras today that's the way it is so why skip around just tell it the way it is you come away with any more clarity on the receiving core did you no okay next question how surprising was that lack of emotions considering what happened last week it was surprising next question coach does your offense need to play better to be effective against ohio state next week yes next question are these drops affecting andrew's performance uh i would say it is because the vault didn't advance next question i'm curious about will golston and didn't play till the second half was already yeah he was not able to practice the entire you know he was in and out of practice this week so we made that decision situation i don't talk about injuries next question you said players make plays can you talk about sims and uh legend and how big they were today they were big next question is it a tough decision i'm just loving all these questions right up the middle the path of spurrier has gone a little bit here in south carolina in terms of the defense doing a little bit of the heavy lifting perhaps i think it's impossible now in the southeastern conference to just outscore teams so he's doing what he has to do to win but make no mistake he still likes those high scoring games first and ten [Applause] and steve spurrier with headset in tow that is a bothered look on his face time winding down in the shot clock does even know that his headset is dragging behind i think that's discombobulated on offense and if you had to define discombobulation would you say that would be it right there disconcerted discombobulated a lot of things kevin you talked about people saying how are you possibly going to get ready for this game and i know as unfair as that term has been in the way it's been applied to clemson the whole clemsoning thing and losing games you're not supposed to how does this team kind of approach that differently in your mind is it a matter of like you said that you're focused one game at a time or doesn't matter they don't even think about it anymore well i think it's ridiculous that you're even asking me that question that you even say the word i mean i'm serious i'm sick of it i don't even know why people even bring up the dead gum word how about some of these other teams out there that lose to unranked opponents all the time that's our 33rd win versus unranked opponent we ain't lost to anybody on rank since 2011 but i have to come to a press conference in 2015 and get asked that and that's all media bull crap i tell you how they feel about it they don't like it it's a lack of respect it's not doing your homework and paying attention to what reality is should not be asked that is fuming tellers that left guard normally that's a reaction to notre dame coming across and maybe that should have gone the other way he has it right justin has a right fuentes limited we've got another flag and that might be on the head coaster unfortunately on the head coach it is virginia tech 15-yard penalty third down you have a right to be upset but negotiate with the referee watch your any headsets it's already out the window has right here he loses the headset you see he's holding uh just one headphone i wonder if he just holds that headphone up to the side of his head the rest of the day guarantee trying to get there and the ball comes out draymond digs running down the sideline draymond digs nobody's going to catch him there are no flags this will be a 100 yard scooping score for alabama coach what happened we're a bad football team and uh when anybody's a bad football team when you take the field like we did today and uh i said on the ends i'm trying to get our guys enthused and juiced up and we're coming out and it was like they didn't even there wasn't an ounce of enthusiasm i don't know i i i wish i had an answer for you never in my life have i seen uh if i've been that this disgusted in my coaching career do you feel like i don't know i don't have an answer for you bud i don't know how guys can take the field with no enthusiasm um and it it's way too many guys it's like they don't even like to play the sport and you can't play the sport like this sport like that and uh i don't know i i wish i had an answer for you it is uh yeah it's my job to get them ready i'm running around like trying to get them jacked up and i can't i don't feel any energy and uh it was totally different than last week you saw what what happened last week and this week you could have heard came out i'm screaming and yelling running through the crowd saying yeah and they're looking at me like i'm crazy man and i could see it coming and we played like that we played terrible and uh we stunk on offense and in the defense in the second half we stunk on defense and we missed tackles and we played like we didn't want to play and yeah it falls on me we got three more games and uh try and get it fixed but uh i can't fix the guys that don't you know i'm trying i'm gonna find some people that want to compete want to play hard and uh and have some pride i mean because that that was that was a disgusting performance jones at the 25. flags [Applause] oh nick will be irate with this call tony brown number seven he'll be irate with tony brown number seven it was an unnecessary block and he puts his team in tough that's what he was he wasn't going after the officials he was going after brown during the return illegal block in the back receiving team number seven 10-yard penalty for the spot of the foul very chilly on these sidelines between 45 and 50 degrees and there are some black heavy jackets that people who are playing on the field right now for houston are allowed to wear ed oliver was wearing one of them you see major applewhite come up to him and say you can't wear that because you're not playing in the game and then the drama continues as they're walking into the locker room at the end of the first half ed confronting his coach about not being able to wear the jacket major applewhite confirmed that that was what the confrontation was about and he said simply if you're not playing in the game you're not allowed to wear one of those jackets and had had that jacket on for a while earlier in the game and oliver has not come back out here on the field in the second half i asked major applewhite if he was allowed to return he said ed can do whatever he wants if he wants to come back out here that's fine coach we just saw ed oliver obviously upset about something what just happened he wants to wear a jacket on the sideline none of our players that are not playing are wearing jackets on the sidelines 21 yards with a backward bounce see what johnston does this time oh they hit him there's a flag oh boy and jones is buried on the other end the last time they did not go after him they set up a punt return it was a short punt and they got great field position this time they came after the punter johnston and ran into it now is it five yards or is it more there goes the headset i would suggest it's not personal foul if it was a personal foul i think he'd still have the headsets on [Applause] here's the call upcoming from lan clark [Applause] so the last the 45-yard line with 8 46. i went in and went to the field with uh 16 or 17 seniors and every one of them's contribution to our team is noteworthy every one of them there's not a guy in that list of men who hadn't had a great career who hadn't give tremendous effort and energy to his team that in fact played a lot of football and made plays today and made plays right on through his career whether he's a scout team player or a guy that plays sparingly or a guy that was highly recruited and played his butt off and gave us leadership and had is getting his degree and whose contribution was very very significant and will be for the next two games i want to know something it would be said about my career at michigan it was a flop i underplayed my own expectations my head coach would have probably told me you overplayed your physical limitations my point to you is is there is no such thing as a flop that takes a few for our football team just so you know proud of those men how easy it would have been to say it's their night excuse my language spectacular group of men you go find them you throw your arms around them you give them a big kiss on the mouth if you're a girl wow what a game but you know pleased with the win um i am going to address something uh you know we had four players that were suspended for today uh and we had one player that you know very inaccurate information in the gainesville sun the palm beach post and gators country you know that was very irresponsible journalism okay you know you you guys can write whatever you want to say about me you can say i'm a bad football coach you can say i'm a bad dad i'm a bad husband i'm a bad person you you really can say anything you want to say that's your opinion you can talk about our offense our defense our special teams you can talk about our coaching staff you can talk about our administration that's your opinion and you're entitled to that and that's fair when you take a shot at a kid and it's inaccurate and it's written inaccurately i got a problem so i can be accused of a lot of things and being overprotective of our players for accurate information i'm really pissed off and it's wrong and i dealt with it last night with a parent and i had to deal with it this morning with another parent all right because it was inaccurate and it was wrong and it was totally irresponsible again your opinion's fine take shots at me all day jeremy pays me enough i'll take them all day all right but to take a shot at a freshman that's done everything we've asked him to do since he's been here he is a great young man he is should have played today if we had gotten in some situations to blame he's done everything we've asked him to do you know he's a great teammate he's great in that locker room and take that shot is wrong it's damn wrong if i'm gonna tell you right now we're done and and that was completely wrong you need to apologize to those parents and you apologize that kid because you won't put your name behind something why don't you come up and tell me who your source was that's what i'd like to know who was your source church mice in here he hasn't read this article i don't read it this was brought to me by a mother of children i think this is worth reading let me tell you why i'm talking about this article three-fourths of this is inaccurate it's fiction and this article embarrasses me to be involved with athletics tremendously it had to ruling on the field is no catch so now the ball comes all the way back to the 37-yard line okay before the snap false start 79 offense the penalty is five yards from the previous spot alabama is elected to use the timeout to avoid the 10 second runoff so they have to use their last timeout and now nick saban alabama not happy that's not the same face we saw when he was telling us about expecting to have a granddaughter soon his granddaughter coming in december and his face lit up like a christmas tree in our meeting yesterday that's not the same face no it's red just a different different kind of red oh well they didn't have the 10 second runoff but they're without a timeout now and they're going to have to they're going to happen the third time tonight tide driving 64 yards and eight plays the big third and eleven conversion to stewart to keep playing now an onside kick and it's caught and alabama's got the ball back marlon humphrey the corner and a perfectly executed little pooch kick clemson's been tight with their alignment with their front line all night it's something that i bet alabama looked at upstairs they talked about it sweeney is going crazy about something over there see how tight they are right there see the big space to the outside curse trying to get out there and humphrey comes down with the ball i don't know if it was offsides i don't know what dabo swinney's the kickoff is going to come into play in the clemson game again the ball was legally caught and recovered by the kicking team beyond 10 yards beyond this kick spot the advance is not allowed by rule the ball is dead at the spot where first possessed by alabama well he caught it 15. young man from destroying louisiana hold on hey guys hey i'm having a press out frustration building for harbaugh jim harbaugh just threw his entire play sheet and they threw a flag on it can we call it a sideline warning no maybe it is a sideline warning but a heck of a reaction from jim harbaugh after they made the call there goes the play card it ended up right in the middle of the field he threw it so far unsportsmanlike congo that is not a sideline warning that is a penalty and it will move the ball inside the five as coach lost his cool looks at donnelly throws it short it's intercepted charlie brahman the middle guard intercepted it sleester looked into the middle of the short man and he threw it right in balman's hands the first turnover by ohio state and we got a big fight going on the officials buried in the middle swaying from the 25-yard line he's already at the 35 and a flag down swain out of bounds near midfield a second penalty marker is down and there's an injured vanderbilt player there might be flags on both teams because a flag was thrown right at the feet of a vanderbilt player who was getting leveled and whose helmet came off vanderbilt head coach derek mason not too happy with florida there are two fouls on the play during the return illegal block in the back on the return team number 27 personal foul targeting on the return team that play is under the review wow so targeting and now there's some pushing and shoving on the field both teams have come on to the field oh you have todd grantham there yelling back you see todd grantham the defensive coordinator yelling at derrick mason mullen and mason are yelling at each other mullins saying get him to his sidelines to be held back by an official that may have would been what prompted the vanderbilt players to come coach boom that's one guy if you do not want to lift freedom for a half an hour or whatever he'll give you what a character hide your kids eyes [Music] will mustang starts working and it must have been something he said he's out on the field he did not like the call i don't that's will muschamp defensive coordinator during the deadbolt period we had an unfortunate conduct against the bench [Applause] that is a 30 yard penalty on the end of a what four or five yard play is back out on the field they had to drag him off again he is very fortunate he did not get 15 more right there the kick goes through and look at him true right then look at him get pulled back [Applause] [Music] a good job by the assistants to turn what could have been another disaster and tom ritter has took the original 15 yarders and then the same side judge will continues to work on him and anthony jeffries i think does a great job of not having rabbit ears and overreacting will comes out on the field [Applause] [Music] and james franklin living about [Music] something the reality is we've gone from an average football team to a good football team to a great football team and we've worked really hard to do those things but we're not an elite football team yet we've gotten to a point where we are great and we're comfortable with being great that's the issue we haven't broken through with these types of programs yet that's everything every single thing matters and i'm gonna be all over all of it james what is the difference between great and elite it's it's all the details it's all the little things it's finding a way to overcome adversity consistently it's like i said it's going to class consistently it's getting the meetings on time it's having your phone turned off in the meetings it's it's not settling for a b in a class when you could have got an a it's taken notes in every single meeting every single meeting not because the coaches told you to do it because you want to be great it's the coaches making sure that that's the standard and we don't ass settle we don't make excuses we don't allow it to happen there is a way to be unbelievably successful in life in football that's that's what we're going to do and we have let little things slip by that ain't happening because those little things that have slept by it's one point last year it's one point this year it's not happening anymore it's not happening anymore as as our program that we do everything right and we grow every single day and we challenge ourselves every single day and we get uncomfortable we get comfortable being uncomfortable and break out of great to get to that next phase oh bryant chasing hertz jalen hurts nick saban a former defensive back and nowaday would brush that off you know he probably was doing that in his own way third and ten as hurts will throw it away again credit this clemson defense for not giving up nick saban doesn't like the way they're finishing these drives they've got the field position and they just have not been able to put the thing away and you see him getting into brian table a little bit right now he wanted another touchdown to kind of ice this thing and well it boils down to one thing do you want the four best teams in or not that's that it's that simple you know they sat at home last year and got to go to the game while everybody was beating each other up and they had a good football team give give that coach across the sideline a vote who he doesn't want to play and it will start with us and i promise you you don't want to play us [Music] jonathan it's not it's not our decision it's their decision but you can put the four best football teams in how how vital was it to you that he gets off to a good start in this game criticism where from where outside noise from where twitter radio yeah i'd give a wrap about twitter it's a platform for people that are sitting home trolling and unemployment check sitting in front of a keyboard are a big winner after watching their rival boys they pull off the upset cornelius took a knee and brick and hager came flying in i'll tell you what herman is absolutely hopping mad another flag has been thrown the coaches both out there getting into it wow there are two fouls on the play both by the defense sportsman like conduct number 44 defense and sports for my conduct head coach texas both those penalties will be enforced be an interesting an interesting exchange on the notre dame sidelines i don't know if brian kelly's fired up look at this trippy offense number 72. he was fired one of his assistants or one of the members of the notre dame staff i think talking to an official i don't want to speculate but i think that was after a pass interference call and i think that's what got him fired up a lot of people take a lot of things for granted and i get asked questions like well how important is it for the the young guys to get to play this week well how you know they're going to get to play i mean what makes you think that you can just assume that they're going to get to play [Music] because you're assuming that the other team is not very good they do have a division one quarterback he plays like a division one quarterback and they're very very productive on offense and they do a great job of executing what they do and if we don't play good against them you all don't remember the georgia southern game do you i don't think we had a guy on that field that didn't play in the nfl and about four or five of them were first round draft picks and i think that team won a national championship but i'm not sure and they run through our ass like [ __ ] through a ten horn man and we could not stop them could not stop them could not stop them because we didn't we we couldn't get a look in practice we didn't practice it right all right and everybody said the same thing in that game you all took a week off i just wasn't important all right so it's not important to anybody else it's got to be important to the players and it's got to be important to us [Music] you know everybody gets all excited about the beginning of the season you know you get excited about getting married all right but after you're married for a while you know you've got to have a process to make it work all right and no matter what happens we need to have a process to make it work and every game that we play every game that we play can't assume anything i don't even know what you asked me but i just wanted to say that [Applause] samuel is it for a loss again watching that i think the referee who's calling the flowing his whistle hit urban meyer in the face back to that sideline interference you see urban meyer right here see the official starts to call the the play is dead and hit the windmill the facts are for a significant portion of this season this team has felt like they are entitled to something just because the team before us won 11 games and some of us participated in that well that's [ __ ] [ __ ] and you see it happening around the country with some teams too you know everybody says what's wrong with this team what's wrong with that team mods are something similar odds are it's something similar you know as a team we act like well we're 11 and two and we just have to fill up [ __ ] that you know as a coach i didn't call one again the plays i called last year they're all last year they're just that last year as a player any play you made that's all last year and i'll tell you another thing some of you [ __ ] didn't play a snap last year i mean if you're a receiver you think you've got credit for michael one of michael craft these plays you're out of your [ __ ] mind my crabtree made that play graham harrell made that play ryland reed made that play and over there on defense same thing you know you think that uh do you think uh you made that point no no chardonnay made that play daniel sharpened it i mean darcel macbeth made that play not you not you i mean none of that [ __ ] adds up to this [ __ ] year now failed to make it sink in well how do you make it thinking well you start by probably cutting some people your partner you start by getting some people that are more mentally tough you start by by pinching some people and you start by rolling the [ __ ] out of somebody i mean that's the fact of the matter but i'll tell you here's how the season went with all of our unsatisfactory games okay against texas we'll play it close okay we play that [ __ ] close and everybody's mamas and daddies are telling them how great they [ __ ] are because he played him close [ __ ] playing them close we lost the goddamn game to the university of texas and we could have won the [ __ ] okay then based on that the wealth of material that we did versus texas we go play houston and the honest truth is we're thinking well don't you remember we're [ __ ] 11-2 texas tech and we're just a little too good to play at houston when we lost our [ __ ] ass because we thought we were too good to [ __ ] play okay so then we get on a roll and we do some good things and we played texas a m and we lost our [ __ ] ass because we thought we were too good to play texas [ __ ] a m now how in the [ __ ] can that be we thought we were too good to play bale i thought we were too good the mighty red raiders oh yeah poo poo [ __ ] baler [ __ ] you and [ __ ] me and [ __ ] everybody that is [ __ ] [ __ ] and then we come out this year after they rub our nose in the fact that we they aren't too or that we're not too good to play with them and they do the same [ __ ] thing this year because we don't [ __ ] listen and we can't pay attention to history and we only have fast [ __ ] pay attention and listen because we want to tell everybody yeah one time i was 11 and two well that doesn't make a [ __ ] anymore
