Coleman Skylodge 6 Person Instant Tent, Set up & Review

guys Marvin here welcome back to my Channel today we're at the Birch Bay Blain Washington we're going to stay here two nights camping so I decided to get the instant uh tent and uh before I set it up let me show you how big is the box and here it is compared to my regular 7 person tent and as you can see the packaging is way longer because the pole is permanently attached to the uh tent itself that's why the packaging is not compact as the regular tent so the length is 46 46 in and the the WID is like 10 in so it's like 46 by 10 in okay so let's open it and that's how it looks like neatly folded inside a box and hopefully I can uh put it back the same way after I'm done camping and here you can see it comes with the setup instructions attached to to the carrying bag which is an excellent idea so you won't lose it and it is also made of I think nylon material so it is waterproof also comes with 10 standard Stakes which I'm not going to use I brought some heavy duty ones with me and here is the pole for the overhang of the rainfly and of course comes with the rainfly as well all right I'm going to try to set it up let's see how long it will take me to set up the tent but but I'm not going to rush because that's exactly the reason why I bought the instant tent because I don't want to raise G time so like I want to relax while I'm setting it up but I'm going to on the timer let's see how how long it will take me to do the initial setup to like make this uh t stand up I'm going to start let [Music] see [Music] n [Music] so it took me like 2 minutes and 26 seconds that's just initial setup without the rainfly without the steak without the guideline all right so let's uh finish the rest of the setup and here you can see that the rain fly has color coding one Hook is a red color which goes to the left front corner of the tent that way it will help you not to make a mistake installing the rainfly front to the [Music] back [Music] okay all right so here it is it took me another 4 minutes and 53 seconds to put uh Stakes on four corners and also uh finish the setup of the rainfly and uh that's because I actually actually forgot to bring a hammer so I had to find Like a Rock to uh use to install the steak otherwise I think it will just take me another 3 minutes to set up everything without the guidelines right so let me show you inside and the first thing I notice is at the bottom right corner of the door which is like kind of a Sharp curve The Seer is always catching the inside CL of the door so you just have to be really gentle when opening it catching this part here right and as soon as you enter the tent you'll see the storage pouch on the right hand side for cell phones flashlight or any light stuff that you want to put in there also there's another one in the opposite corner it's getting dark now so let me install first the tent light by the way this St light is two in one it also have a zapper mosquito zapper function and it's also rechargeable I'm going to put the link in the description below if you want to check it out it here let me just close this for now I'm not tall I'm only 5 six so you can see right here I can still stand in the middle and it's still not touching that uh light so just the measurement here the in the center okay that is like 75 in so like 6 ft and 1 to 3 6 ft and 3 in and on the side here that is like 5 ft and uh yeah that is like 64 in 5 ft and 1 2 3 4 5 ft and 4 in and the here there so that's like 45 on the seam right there and then the bottom here this is square right away let's see the bottom is the inside that is like it's like 118 116 so that's 9 ft and 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 so 9 ft and 8 in [Music] so that is uh 8 ft so that's 104 in so like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 yeah so 8 ft and 8 in here this is for the extension cord like opening let's close that and the door is a big door so [Music] a very big door the door is 62 in so that's 5 ft and 2 in and then the height of the door is 4T and 4T and 5 in so that's 53 in is 2 ft so you have like 6 in every partition so like that's times four there it has four uh screen on four sides I mean three sides the front of course is the door and here right there so you're going to have a really good like ventilation during hot uh weather but you're going to sacrifice the privacy of course because fly is very short and uh yeah let's close this one now and uh that's that's my videographer say hi hi all right so I think we are done inside and that's the light so from outside you can see the opening on top on all four sides of the tent which is very good ventilation during hot weather but not good when the temperature drops during night time because you cannot close it and if you are at least 6 ft tall you can see the inside of the tent through the opening on the top which is another privacy issue in my opinion the overhang of the rainfly is is about 2 ft uh which is okay again during sunny days but definitely not for rainy days all right guys so we had a great time camping here at Beach Bay State Park bla Washington it was a a really good sunny day for the past two days of our state and at night it was a bit windy and chilly which is expected considering that it's the end of the camping season already and it is September of 2023 and me and my body did a 50 km bike ride yesterday just a chill ride but it was a very good exercise so I guess it's a time for me to find out if how long it will take me to take down this Colman six person instent so let's do [Music] it [Music] okay so it took 17 minutes and 22 seconds to take it down and uh put everything in the Box we which uh for me is really good considering that I did everything myself and was able to put it back in the Box again but definitely this is not a one minute instant tent as Colman is claiming I would say if you do it fast I guess you can do it in 2 minutes without putting all the stakes and the rainfly also I would not consider this as a for season tent let me show you my outdoor works Creek 7 this is the actual for season 10 as you can see that the rainfly is all the way to the bottom and this will keep you really dry when it rains I've been using this t for over 15 years and it keep us dry even with Heine and has a very good ventilation and the Privacy as well right so comparing the material of the bag here is the Coleman which is not not too bad actually but compared to the uh outer Works Creek 7 and you can see the other the inside the texture is different this is really like waterproof and it's really thick but again this is the more more expensive tent this is a 15 years old tent and until now there's nothing wrong with it there's no reap or anything The Seer works really good everything works really good until now and also this is the rain fly as you can see also different material and the other side as you can see that there is different coing as well it looks like a UV reflector coating and it's very durable you can see right there and also this is the bottom part of the tent this is the main tent is also way thicker compared to the colon and here is the compartment of all the poles right there so now the big question is would I recommend this tent I will say if you are looking for a quick setup tent rather than the traditional one and if you go camping only during hot summer days maybe light rain and you don't mind much larger in packaging size have less durability privacy and wind protection I would definitely recommend it and when it comes to the space even with my size again I'm only 56 I would say three to four people would be ideal and comfortable and I don't really think that this St is for six adults because you can only fit one Queen and one single siiz bed inside the tent I would say the eight or 10 person one will be ideal for six adults and if you like camping and you have never been to Beach Bay State Park I would really recommend trying camping here especially if you live in the Greater Vancouver area it's only 1 hour and 10 minutes drive from Vancouver and 50 minutes drive from Suri and also from the campsite it's only 25 minutes drive to bis Fair Mall there are lots of things you can do like biking swimming kayaking paddle boarding clim digging and shell fishing they also have full hookups for RV and motor home and the campsite is very clean and well maintained uh
