COGIC Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard - The Urgency Of Preparation

[Music] all of the people of the Lord said amen may the Lord bless you this evening it is a joy to be here in Orlando Florida and preparing our hearts for the word of the Lord give me just a personal privilege to acknowledge first lady lady Vanessa Macklin January of this year we celebrated 50 years of marriage for which I'm very thankful this coming Sunday we will celebrate 46 years of ministry at Glad Tidings [Music] International and for that we are grateful glad for my little granddaughters being with me my daughter and my granddaughters who are here they are uh participating in the Women's Conference where are they Maddie and Megan they're are there they are all right those are my little granddaughters glad to have them with us I want to um ask you to do something right quickly don't you have to move you don't have to talk loud it was reported to us that there were 900 thousand was the people watching online plus the thousands that are here as our Bishop gets ready to deliver God's word I believe that you can release the names of people that need a miracle they may be at home they may be over here over there and let's release their names now so when the word Goes Forth there'll be a connection to the person that needs the word and needs a miracle and so those of you that are at home that are part of that 900,000 uh right now just begin to call off the names of people who need a miracle because a miracle is coming their way if you're here go ahead and call off the name of somebody you know needs a [Music] miracle Richard Bas I call your name off James Tucker mother Shepherd I call your names on Elder Sims I call your names and I believe when our Bishop preaches the power of God is going to go out do you believe that today I believe it my dear brothers and sisters as I share with pastors that we're blessed to appoint to Ministries to lead local churches I say to that Pastor as he's in stalled Pastor please understand that as you are appointed today you come in as the pastor and people all over the church will say the Pastor said the Pastor said the Pastor said but if you serve Faithfully over the next few months next year or two you'll hear the atmosphere change in terms of language and people will stop just saying the pastor and they're going to start saying our Pastor said our Pastor said our pastor and if you continue on in faithfulness give of unselfish service you will eventually hear that language change again from the pastor to our pastor and then you'll hear my pastor say in 2000 and 21 we celebrated the fact that God gave us a new leader and we all begin to say we have a new leader he is the presiding Bishop the presiding Bishop but as he has led us through these years helped us to walk through and led us to debt liquidation and led us into believing that God had resources for us beyond our local Treasures of our jurisdictions and our denominations contined to lead us you could hear the wind shift from the presiding Bishop to our presiding Bishop but now as we come to 2024 now as we come to 2024 we're here now and his work has continued his vision has continued to grow and expand he has become the voice of Holiness and Pentecostalism now around the world and at the tables that he the doors that he walks through he represents the Church of God in Christ not only today but for tomorrow and tonight I'm I am pleased to present not only the presiding Bishop not only our presiding Bishop but tonight I'm pleased to present my presiding Bishop last Saturday my presiding Bishop was honored by the Pentecostal Theological Seminary Church of God there was presented with an honorary doctrate of divinity that's a big [Music] deal oh I think we can do better than [Music] that there in Cleveland OH I think we can do better than that if you're standing up just look over at somebody and tell them that's my presiding Bishop following the selection from the choir the next voice you hear the bishop J Drew Shear you will be listening to the voice of my presiding bishop and when he comes everybody who claims that he is your presiding Bishop will stand and welcome him and we will hear a word from the Lord I'm excited tonight tonight because my presiding Bishop is getting ready to speak God bless you [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] God [Music] is pring he's preparing me for something I cannot handle right now he's making me ready just because he cares he cares [Music] provid he's providing me what I need to carry out the next thing matter in my life he's prepar oh because he cares for me the Lord is prepar me for everything he is prepar God is he's preparing preparing me he's preparing pring me for some things that I cannot handle right now he's making me ready just because he cares oh he can he's providing me what I for to carry out the next matter in my life he's preparing because the Lord he cares for me he oh he's preparing me forever everything that comes in my that comes in my life he's preparing mearing me because he cares he for me and he's maturing me because the Lord cares for me for me and he's aring meing me and then he shifts it and he rearranges meing me oh he's preparing me me because it cares from me and the Lord is training me and he is tuning me and heing me that he would get the glory and he's pring me oh and he's molding me and he's shaping me sh oh he's preparing me he's preparing me to walk in his white here preparing me that he would get the [Music] glory he's preparing me because that's greater are that's greater are he because the Lord car for me oh he's preparing me forever it I com comes in my life if the Lord has been good to you tell him thank you if the Lord ever made a way for you tell him thank you if the Lord ever opened a door for you tell him thank you come on look at your neighbors next to you and tell them after all I've been through tell them after all the devil tried to do to me tell them I still have my joy oh you're a little tired now but don't let them wear you out look at somebody on the other side and say I got joy way down on the inside come on and give God some praise let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be accept able in thy sight oh Lord my strength and my redeemer and the people of the Lord said amen God bless you thank you so much please be seated in the presence of the Lord I am so thankful to be here I'm glad that I'm yet saved and Sanctified filled with God's precious Holy Ghost and that with the mighty burning fire and I do speak in tongue as the spirit give utterance I just want to take this opportunity and just give me a few minutes I promise uh not to be long one thing I have learned that when the service is longer my sermon gets shorter so uh please give me a few minutes and uh but I want to give special accolades to this wonderful woman of God who is leading this great convention our precious mother mother Barbara maku Lewis [Music] come on come on mother Lewis I thank you for your followship I thank you for your leadership she is absolutely a wonderful woman of God thank you Bishop Macklin for that very kind introduction and to our second assistant Bishop Woon Bishop mlen Bishop Porter Bishop Hill Bishop Porter uh Bishop Hill Bishop Bryan Bishop Hall Bishop Kobe Bishop I said mlen bishop henerson and Bishop mayard let's give our general board a hand we certainly praise God for our chairman of the board of Bishops uh bishop galberth and all of the officers of the board of Bishops God bless uh uh our all the pastors and Elders I'm moving very quickly um Judiciary board chairman Bishop Connor and uh the trustee boards National officers to the uh very capable assistance in the women's Department uh mother Dr huy and uh mother Gatlin who blessed our hearts on Tuesday night and mother Mary Jane Walton and to all of the super visors you all are have just been absolutely phenomenal let's give all of these supervisors a hand and to The Bishop's wives and to um uh the Bishops who are here and especially to the Florida Bishops what a joy uh it has been to be here in Orlando Florida I don't know about you if uh I probably got an edge on most of you all uh because uh I love you all and uh I just it's a joy to walk through the hall and shake your hands and hug our dear sisters it's a blessing to be in the Church of God in [Music] Christ and uh we thank God for everybody who is here I need to call some more names but will you let me slide tonight and then I'll call your name in the next meeting I want to call your attention to the book oh no I got to I can't no ah [Music] yeah wait a minute first of all my daughter is here Kiara Stan and my granddaughter is here where is Chloe where is she Chloe Drew stand up with my other sister Dr Cole stand up with my grandbaby yes she got on her black yes God bless and to my lovely and effervescent and beautiful and heartwrenching and mindboggling and you just all that baby stand up uh so they can see you again so they'll say I recognize you a't she dressed up I have no idea how much that dress cost [Applause] amen God bless you let me move on okay to 2 Chronicles the 29th chapter and the 16th and 17th verses 2 Chronicles 29 16 and 17 if you'll be so kind to stand in reverence to the word of God there you will find these words and the priest went into the inner part of the house of the Lord to cleanse it and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord and the Levites took it to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord so they Sanctified The House of the the Lord in 8 days and the 16th day of the first month they made an end I want to talk to you for the next few fleeting moments from the subject the urgency of preparation the urgency of preparation please be seated in the presence of the Lord my brothers and sisters um you've heard some very startling statistics about how our world is going and I just want to encourage you to become a part of the project Luke 15-7 let's win at least one Soul by the end of the year amen my brothers and sisters we must note that in this season of Our Lives that things have changed drastically even the church has changed and in many cases it's not for the better our approach to Ministry has been drastically altered and one of the things that bothers me the most is that after all we've been through and especially the pandemic our commitment to God Is Yet subar therefore I believe I believe we must seek God with urgencies so that we might gain his favor in connection with our lesson text we must know not that Hezekiah had succeeded his father ahaz who was an idolatrous King he ahaz had polluted the Lord's Temple he had idolatrous altars and the temple had been shut up for many years because the temple had been shut up for so long it was in need of cleansing my brothers and sisters just because something has been closed up doesn't mean it's still clean cobwebs dirt and dust find a way to invade closed up spaces and Hezekiah had instructed the priests and Levites who should have kept the temple clean to clean it the men that were mentioned who took part in the cleaning of the temple were not necessarily the head men but perhaps those who were more forward and zelous to get the job done they realized along with this new king that the temple had been polluted long enough uh the people were going in the wrong direction and they were not seeking God in the way that they should have my brothers and sisters when God has a work to be done he will often raise up new people to do it it's not always those who we think because God often gets tired of their errors and raises up someone else these men had such a job to do uh until it took them eight days to complete it uh you may not like me for saying this but I wonder with all of the corruption that has entered into our religious entities how long would it take us to get the them clean 8 Days 8 weeks8 Months 8 years8 decades or could we get them clean I realize that we're in a horrible condition and something must be done in a hurry praise God that salvation is personal however we need to pray that God will awaken the members of the church uh the church and its leadership is uh under social media's microscope and if there was ever a time that we must walk circumspectly it is now Saints we need a Revival of religion why because in a day like today when a perplexity of problems face our churches it's easy to see that the worldliness of professing saints uh has caused more problems uh than ever imagined uh sometimes it seems like the Saints do not care what they say or do a lot of us seem to have lost the controlling factor which was given on the day of Pentecost which should lead us and guide us consequently Church we're we're falling for everything and standing for nothing uh we put too much emphasis on the trinkets that God has blessed us with we're focusing on the things of God and practically forgotten the god of things and this is not to say that if we Prosper we're not of God because God is willing that we increase in knowledge and mere mental Improvement God is willing that we should prosper in life life and enjoy the esteem and approbation of the Great and the good but God wants us to seek Him First for the Bible said but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things somebody say these things shall be added unto you how many folk seem resolved to be rich they make wealth their Idol and Mammon their God the the indifference of God's people in regards to Holiness has become pathetic there's a laxidasical spirit that has invaded the church and it has so-called Saints claiming that everything is all right we think it's cute we think it's popular but my brothers and sisters we're putting up with stuff that the old Saints never would have put up with we're watching these satanic influences uh step boldly in the church and we're busy trying to manage their behavior but I'm here to tell you tonight that Jesus never told you to manage the behavior of demons we're trying to psychoanalyze we're trying to figure out their names we're trying to figure out where they come from but Jesus told us to cast The Devil out and we need the spirit of discernment to pay attention against some of this mess this this this is the place that we have drifted to my brothers and sisters there is a chilling ignorance that is pervading the church religion seems like a dull and languid thing sacred Flames are nearly extinct we're going along to get along there's an awful blank in religious duties since the pandemic many Saints have not gotten back to the Full Throttle in Ministry we're halfheartedly coming to church we're slothful in our prayer life and we forgotten how to fast the signal abuse of prosperity is ringing in a perturbing way this signal lets us know that we drifted from God the full tide of worldly Prosperity seems to have set in with a resistless current and thousands are floating on its surface it is this that causes such or cast such a dark shadow over the prospects of the church it is causing a prolific source of Mischief to The Souls of men the people of God are so intoxicated by the world so stupified by indifference so oppressed by criminal unbelief uh until we need the sincere effusions uh of a divine grace to help us out of our dilemma do me a favor help me preach I'm almost finished look at somebody and say we're in trouble in dying men are daily descending to the tombs of hell and we need help uh we need help because we're the ones uh who are supposed to have the life line we're the ones who are supposed to be delivering them from the poor ERS of hell we're the ones who are supposed to help them break them bad habits we're the ones who have been commissioned to go out into all the world and preach an unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ well what ought to be done in attempting this great and good work first church we must repent of our declension h if judgment comes it must first begin at the house of God before we can start sweeping around somebody else's front door touch your neighbor and say sweep around yours there must there must be something and for all of those I'm going to mess up here but for all of those other denominations who are talking about the Church of God in Christ you mind your business we got this there must be a spirit of deep humiliation don't act like you're all right the way you are oh Zion what's the matter now you don't pray like you used to what's the matter now you don't sing like you used to preachers We Don't Preach like we used to and then we must mourn our departure from God I know you're sitting there tonight with that sanctimonious look on your face but you know you're not what you used to be you don't even lift your hands in church no more your feet don't even get light no more you could shake your head every now and then but you know we're so busy playing favorites we must repent lament our backsliding rent our hearts repair to the blood of atonement that our deep stained sins may be washed away we must sincerely desire a Revival do me a favor look at somebody and say we need a Revival we need a Revival our udent desires must be excited dying Graces uh must be quick and we must have sensible and strong longings uh for the outpouring of God's spirit church something must get done in a hurry we must sincerely and fervently pray for Revival with this solemn truth before us we must seek God we must pray habitually I know we get tired of praying somebody asked me why do you keep calling the church to pray because we need to pray there's power in prayer there's Deliverance in prayer and prayer still works uh we must do what God says Church we need a Revival we must wrestle with God uh like Jacob wrestled with the Heavenly representative until the break of day we must weary him we must not let him go until He blesses our soul I need to ask you here in the 74th Annual women's convention how bad do you want it h how bad do you want it if you want it bad enough then our actions must be agreeable to our prayers we must be bold and zous we must pay particular attention to the means and opportunities and then we must start looking like it's getting ready to happen look at your neighbor and say act like it's about to happen start walking like Revival is coming start talking like Revival is coming start praising God like Revival is coming tell somebody it's coming I'm expecting God to wake us up we cannot pray for something and then act like it ain't going to happen if we expect it we will think it we will desire it we will anticipate it we will rely on God for it and then we must pray in faith for it h do me a favor tell somebody it's going to happen it's going to happen my children are going to get saved my loved ones are going to get delivered my mother and father are going to be changed come on and look at somebody and say it's going to happen I got to tell you that when the people of God attempt to promote this revival we shall succeed because after all God is willing to help us it is God's Own CS uh on which his eye and Heart have been fixed from the early ages of Eternity I got to tell you that God yet loves his church do me a favor and say that God yet loves his church I realize I realize I realize that in the physical church we have a few unlovable people a few Liars hanging around a few backbiters and gossipers that are hanging around in the physical church but you must remember before you start trying to put everybody out of the church that that's the object for which the Son of God was stretched upon that accursed tree this is what the spirit dwells here for then let us bear this subject of religion Upon Our Hearts we ought to talk about it in our closets uh on our jobs uh in our homes uh in in our neighborhood in the shopping mall in the restaurant everywhere we go tell your neighbor it's urgent we must bear it in our mind until the sacred fire has been rekindled and it burns deep and lasts long I heard the Old Saint say that I wish somebody's Soul would catch on fire and burn with the Holy Ghost I want God to allow the Holy Ghost Fire to move in this place because something I learned about the fire of the Holy Ghost you can't sit down on fire you can't act like fire ain't going to make you move do me a favor I'm almost through grab somebody by the hand pull on them and push them see I told you you wasn't ready pull on them and push them push them and pull on them and say neighbor Revival is about to break out let us parent now because we're in trouble why do you say we're in trouble trouble because our children are getting worse they're indulging in promiscuous sins at unbelievably early ages they're twerking as early as 8 and N years old they're dancing in the most belligerent ways they're using language that sounds as if they studied profanity we need a Revival you got church folk who are not dedicated enough uh to drive the devil a quarter of an inch they're dressed up they're looking good but they're weak they're lifeless and they're insensitive they're unconcerned they're Unfaithful and they're getting weaker Church we've got to get back to what God intended for to be the church is supposed to be a safe haven from the world instead everything that they're doing in the world has crept in the church the ushers couldn't keep them out Jude said that they crept in unawares we don't know how and we don't know when they got in here but somehow they got in how do you know because all of a sudden the adulterer was on the mother's board all of a sudden the homosexual was in the choir all of a sudden the child molester was in the pool pit all of a sudden the drug abusers was on the Deacon board help me preach Holy Ghost God help us and church I believe h that we should be so powerful until we could turn this world upside down but instead of us using our power we become so busy with programming until we are going to program ourselves Straight to Hell some of us are tied up with things until we wouldn't know the anointing if it walked up and slapped Us in the face our churches are invaded by Satan's devices we're bobbing to his beat and stroking to his lyrics we're standing by watching Satan bring heartaches to the church and what are we doing Church what are we doing Saints we are chilling sitting there looking at the devil take over our service ah but the Devil is a Lie you ain't going to take over this service are we at ease in Zion it's time now to get tough with the devil it's time for us to tell him that the buck stocks here it's time for us to use our power we need to use that power that says that one can chase a thousand and two can put 10,000 to a flight we got to pray for I heard the Bible said that if my people were to called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek and turn seek my face and turn from their Wicked Ways then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land look at somebody and say church we got to pray we got to pray until The languishing Graces of God's people have been revived we got to pray until Saints become anxious and prayerful we got to pray until we wake up this Earth pray until preachers are animated and zelous pray until the house of God have been thronged again pray until the presence of the Lord is felt in a special manner pray until the careless I awaken start harded one subdued prodical reclaimed Stony hearts are melted h souls are converted and backsliders restored let us all go back to the old landm let us all go back to the old time way where we'll will kneel down and pray to God grab your neighbor by the hand and say neighbor modernization is not working but we need to pray until we get another Pentecost I don't care what it cost just give me a pente cost we need a Revival we need an Awakening we need to to be saved we need miracles to be performed we need homes to be brought back together we need the feel his anointing one more time we should expect it why brother preacher do you say we should expect it for I heard the 33rd chapter of Jeremiah and the third verse say call unto me and I will answer thee and show thee Great and Mighty Works which thou knowest not Jeremiah 29 and 12 said then shall you call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me and I will hearken unto you and then Jesus said in the 11th chapter of Luke and I say unto you ask and it shall be given ye seek and ye shall find knock and it shall be open for everyone that askthe and and he that seeketh findeth and to him that knocketh it shall be open no wonder no wonder the old Saints used to say they said if you call on Jesus he will answer prayer look at your neighbor and say neighbor when is the last time you C on Jesus if you call on him he will answer pray I got saved calling on that name I got filled with the Holy Ghost calling on that name I got healed calling on that name is there anybody here that called on that name grab somebody by the hand and say Les your night and call on on his name because he is my burden Bearer he is my heavy Lord Sarah tell somebody get ready get ready God is about to do something in your life God is about to make something happen tell your neighbor I'm ready Church of God in Christ don't give up now because God made us a promise my eyes have been seen ears have been heard neither have to entered into the hearts of men the good thing grab your neighbor by the hand and say neighor let's go back if that neighbor ain't moved all night lean away from them and say neighbor let's get ready tell them neighbor let's give him a praise know he's all right ain't he all right won't he make a way won't he heal your body won't he save your soul say yeah say yeah [Music] [Music] come on let's Praise Him in here God's getting ready to send Revival he's getting ready to send Revival come on let's Praise Him for Revival all over the building let's Praise Him for Revival come on people of God Revival is [Music] coming come on clap those hands let's give God a praise let's give him a praise all over the room come on and clap those hands God is getting ready to to send Revival he's getting ready to send Revival oh people of God don't don't start walking out now we're praying for Revival Revival come on in this praise him come on people of God put those hands [Music] together Revival in our homes in our churches in our jurisdictions in our communities Revival come on people of god let's praise him until he sends Revival all over the Church of God in Christ Revival watch this watch this watch this now you all get upset when we ask you to praise God but let me show you the power of your praise the honey bees have a nest every now and then a hornet or a was gets in the nest to get the larae the honeybees know that if they use their stinger they'll die so what they do is about 3 to 500 honeybees get on top of that wasp and begin to Flat their wings they generate heat of 46 celi which is 114° fah what they do is when they start flapping their wings they burn that honey that hored up alive when you start praising God you start flapping your wings you can burn up cancer in your body you can burn up arthritis in your bones you can burn up everything that's going on in your life I need somebody to [Music] start come on stop cling those wings let's give God some praise up in here all over come on and let's flap let's burn up let's burn it up [Music] my God my God he's sending come on come [Music] on all over all over the building us us he us he us R Us Riv [Music] R my God my God [Music] listen if you don't know the Lord and the pardon of your sin I want you to come down and let the altar workers pray with you but listen this is what the Lord has put on my heart mother LS ever since I've been here this week I've been hearing one thing that's has invaded the body of Christ and I believe if enough of us touch and agree in here God will burn it up cancer has invaded the body of Christ and I believe that if we touch and agree now if you don't want to hold nobody's hands that's okay but I need you to turn to somebody and get both of their hands and let start rebuking cancer breast cancer colon cancer prostate cancer come on let's start rebuking it in here now in the name of Jesus come on turn and get somebody by the hand and in the name of Jesus we rebuke cancer in the body of Christ come on I need a Praying church now cancer is taking out our men and our women come on in the name of Jesus cancer we rebuke you now lymp noid in the name of Jesus colon cancer we rebuke you now breast cancer we rebuke you now prostate cancer we rebuke you now come on people of god let's touch and agree let's touch and agree that God is going to heal mother Lewis you're going to get emails presiding Bishop you going to get emails of healing from cancer yeah yeah
