Coasterace Retro Amusement Park Videos: Cedar Point May 1993

um this is the green tree inn and it's dusky ohio this is the lobby and here's my father trying to find out if the second half of our trip to cincinnati is going to work out or not this is the hotel pool a handful of people here god forbid if uh dad would just happen to fall in the pool god forbid all right i think we'll be able to get an alley tonight this is the famous cedar lane in sandusky ohio there isn't anybody here and we'll stroll along here into the pool hall [Music] on my right here is a mcdonald's which is usually the first stop on our way to cedar point because that's where we have breakfast okay this is singapore who's the right causeway you can see the magnum from here yeah this is how you get to the park have to pay about three bucks to get over this little bridge here i was into a boats and but you have a nice view this is safe yeah and it's cedar point right there you see the whole park 91 there's another nice view of the park you can see the whole park wow welcome to cedar point [Music] and where's my father oh there he is he's buying the tickets obviously that's one of the first things you have to do when you go to amusement park you gotta buy the tickets gee i wonder how much they raised the price up through this year ready to rock welcome to cedar point here's the midway not a lot of people here today and it's good news for us though we're gonna try to sneak our camera in here in a disaster transport [Music] [Music] just gonna take a few pictures here and this is when you first walk in look at your white [Music] they have your space music here in the background [Music] [Music] in five minutes their motto now we're going now into the control room [Music] this is a repair [Music] one thing i forgot to get this is your [Music] disaster transport that's where you go in just to put that here are some of the stands outside of disasters transport as you go by the vendors are begging you please play come on it's only 50 cents please please help them play please play our game please right now we're on these space spirals notice the beautiful marinara and right here on the left this is the road okay here we are in the alpine right way up high see if i can get some pictures here i'm not losing a camera yeah it's a little windy up here this is the main view of the main part of the park see the other car going by let's see i can move to the right see the giant wheel you hear the window over there you can see where the lake erie this is [Music] they don't have and we're coming into our station so i'm going to shut this off that's a little interesting view of the mid here lanes the torch this is the wildcat nice little compact steel poster you can [Music] cedar [Applause] [Music] so big that you have to cross railroad tracks the train track to get there when the train runs and i'm standing a little more to the right and uh that is one giant ferris wheel whoa we may ride that later to get something and we're gonna i think we're gonna get something to eat now big rides fancy places to eat shop there's some real nice walk throughs here that are really very private did not pay it'll be you think you're in the country somewhere this is just one of them nice peaceful and this is very peaceful relaxing plus you have to get done to eat nice and quiet quiet not this is a log cabin settlement shops that are made to look like and over here santa that noise you hear that river and we're getting at the end of the piece of frontier time uh just think if this was the olden days that's right where they belong one two three ah wow now daddy can go find a rid and have a little fun come on let's get out of here okay this is also part of frontier time duck pond very nice and peaceful here let's go take a look at thunder canyon this is a thunder canyon at cedar point oh well it's a new ride for 1993. this is snake river falls a little bit wetter than a long ride back here we might get there so the camera doesn't get wet uh should be a boat coming down any second where is your boat at night three two one where is it oh [Applause] oh [Music] using the stuff don't find harbor chairs three days to park my lovely family [Music] [Music] um [Music] scale model whole coaster [Music] what kind of picture wall pictures of the early days of the park and the area itself very nice the cedar creek mine ride is kind of hidden i can't see so much of it this would be the perfect coaster for robert and jesse their first one it's not very high it's not very fast i hear it [Music] they would love it nice and slowly oh this coaster is not the rubber and zest it is for the die hard poster enthusiast it's the one the only mean screw and it's reaching the first reaching the first hill as it goes down out of sight hard to even get the whole thing in a picture because it's so big so big here's a trivia question for you how many trees did it take to build the main street it says right here the mean streak took 1.7 million enough to build about 85 average homes that's a lot right there it is this is the gemini twin racing coaster although all the times you've been out here never once have there been two coaster bracing at the same time and of course at cedar point we save one of the best coasters for last is none other than the magnum xl 200. [Music] 200 feet tall oh his car going up right now see how tall of course most people know that if it's on a really clear day from the top of the magnum you can see canada wow [Applause] oh that one's only at the top of the hill now how long did that take [Music] all right we're going to get this real close you can see it that is the corkscrew and here comes the iron a lot of smaller rides [Music] my gang still standing standing still going pretty good i'm proud of it but we got one more day here and it looks pretty empty you can see wish us luck hey this is the restaurant we just had dinner we had a delicious pizza this place is called macaroni's as you see it's a wonderful little place to go a chance you get it's real splashy colors uh great music it's a nice little place this is the famous bernstein beers family tree house from which comes one of marsha's favorite stories when she was young about a little beer he didn't want to go to sleep at night so he went out up out of bed through the window down the tree this is a spooky old tree where a little bear comes out of his room and he climbs up to the spooky old tree where he gets scared there's himself hi a little playground here and over to my right here is the rainbow falls you get the foreign i guess we should have put this at the beginning it says welcome to bear country that's where we just were oh dinosaur skill [Music] it's a tyrannosaurus rex this ride used to be a kennywood but i took it out hey this is the pirate ride i'm nothing like the one at kennywood but over to my right here is the blue street it's a good old it's coaster good back seat ride too [Music] there's an old street car coming back am i right here because this is the line for the blue streak as you can see there is nobody in line this is one of two log rides to see the point uh we rode the other one today this is the other ones called the mill race the one my dad went on one of the first times he went came to cedar point and he got soaked on your way out of cedar point you cannot forget to hit the demon draw and here's the worst part about this ride kind of backs you up really smacks your back but it's a good ride though now here's a cute little ride it's a turnpike park a little bit like kennywood used to have but now since they turned it into the old antique cars they don't have this kind of car anymore there are some antique cars in the background looks like they're gonna bump into each [Music] other [Music] record collision now here's dad mom and marsha waiting in line for the blue streak hi guys [Applause] oh here they come hey wait a minute doesn't this guy belong in butch gardens [Music] [Applause] spin [Music] this one has a couple different ones whatsoever because i wonder why that figurine is spinning around oh okay the whole ride kind of moves a little bit i don't know what the heck they never seen it because we're never at this part of the park before we're gonna go into the shark tank [Music] is are close up here wow [Music] [Music] um [Music] um there's only one little guy on a baby bump of course you can drive by yourself we should get a big bumper for it this is the little bumping part wow just think you're the whole thing yourself and the poor guys spinning backwards forward wow he's having a good time he's having a real good time wow is the biggest arcade i've ever seen why is it one of the best because i love pinball machines you can always tell an arcade too [Music] wow [Music] [Music] i want to kill sometimes it's getting windy it's getting cold and we're tired [Music] i think two days a little too much cause this park is just a little bit too big but we rode everything we wanted to ride and we want to get back to pittsburgh [Music] bust hold the sign up i am lozy okay and we look over here we'll see a wrap door yeah yeah no we can't where's the tree in the way cedar park there it is raptor yeah this is the parking lot at cedar point the empty parking lot there's nobody here what's up hey here's what we came here to ride the raptor new for 94. boy what a ride it is [Music] this is an inverted poster similar to the one batman ride at six flags new jersey however raptor is ten times better and it's also twice as long [Music] notice how your feet are hanging below you dangling free this coaster also does barrel roll [Music] your body's flipped upside down so many times forget where the ground is [Music] from a shot of the raptor would move to a picture of three really tired people who can't wait to go back to the hotel [Music] okay august 1996 the 29th to be exact guess where we're staying you see that big beautiful hotel radisson before you make the turn to go to cedar point well guess who's here yeah the bundy i mean us we're going to be here we're going to check to place that we finally got here for 49 bucks a night so wow the radisson this is just the pop part of it here this extends that a little more you you see this when you're you're going down a causeway all the way down and you get the tgis fridays what a place we made it not all that impressive on the inside you know it looks so nice on the outside but this is all this is the main lobby right here there's the desk over there hey 49 bucks a night what do you want wow a nice little floor here all set up because we're looking at [Music] that's the outside place that i took everything found a boat just pulled up nice looking boat there's that tgis and we're headed now for the pool area let's see what's inside here a nice size pool everything and that side overlook that's the road that goes to cedar point there's people heading in and out of there i think we're gonna like it here not many people here right now wow what is cedar point pushing this year madness we better go in and check out what the heck is going on with manus hey okay what's new for 96 the cedar point there's the iron dragon loading station whoa what do we have up here it looks like a man it's a stand-up coaster we'll try to get what we can of this thing coming down to that big long first blue we'll try to get some more of it the manus okay we're going to follow your manufacture from this angle from a different point of view it's pretty impressive stand up coaster it's not nothing to your point those are small oh [Music] [Music] [Music] i wanted to he goes in the back here a lot of twists and turns in the back trying to get the bag too it's a long ride believe me it ain't done yet believe me i don't know what happened no it's [Music] another angle [Music] this this thing goes [Music] that is demanded cedar point new ride for 1996. we get a break the lines aren't very long we have two quick first three rides on you can see the clay lines here it's about 15 minutes that's off to cedar point for another great new coaster the man
