there is literally no one here. i've
never seen anything like this. it's pitch black. I'm lost for words, it is unbelievable
up here. we had to ask the man to let us in. not fit enough. why can't this
end sooner. we need to hurry up. hello everyone and welcome back to we go
east. today we are on mount fuji as you can see from this joyous view. we're
literally in the clouds. we got the bus up to the fifth station for Fujinomiya
trail and yeah it's already really high up. i think we're at 2400 meters or something
like that and we are currently up next to the ruins of the fifth station which was burned down
by some dude earlier this year. who comes up all the way up here to burn something down? so we're
gonna climb all night basically. a bullet climb - which is not recommended because
you might get altitude sickness. she's already starting to feel dizzy. a little
bit dizzy. so fingers crossed on how this goes. let us know in the comments if you think I'll
have altitude sickness. yeah, stick around for the end when you'll see the beautiful sunrise.
yeah, it's actually really nice weather. look it's like blue skies, blue skies. there is big
boy Fuji we're gonna go up there. look at that we're literally in the clouds. it looks a bit
far doesn't it? we're gonna make it. you sure? we're going... we're going up there. right
well i think we should get started. yes. we should do some stretches. limber up. that
is sexy. nothing can stop these hammies. once i've finish these stretches we're gonna...
we're gonna get going. some beautiful light here, hang about. look at this. yeah the sun is setting its a difficult word. it's graphic. it's
something graphic. as you can see the sun is setting it's beautiful,
beautiful weather. we're about to start the hike and go up there, up to the top. [Theo singing] Can we get some more pics of this? Its so nice, it looks so good. Yeah ready to go. yeah let's try and get some of the
sunset on the mountain. Let's Fuji. oh, i tell you what guys, we've been climbing
for ages and ages and we've just made it to... oh Christ. here we are at the start,
2400 meters. Ashley's already out of breath. say cheese. cheese. i thought we'd be going up
there but it looks like we're going around here. following the trail. up to the
top. alright so, it's pretty much half six and this is still pretty much the very
beginning. like fifth station about to really start going and i wonder what time we'll arrive at the
summit. let's find out. let's find out. i think it's about five hours. i thought it was like eight. right
well we'll see you at sixth station probably. yeah we'll catch up with you at the next station. we'll
look a lot more like sweaty. they have these arrows on rocks to point you in the right direction.
hi. i'm a bit out of breath already. look at this, look at the sky these colors are obscene it's
so beautiful it's like a painting up here. well we still got so far. okay now this is a super
weird phenomenon that you can only see on really tall mountains. over there this sort of line in the sky, this line in the sky- here yeah around here- this is the shadow of mount
Fuji. I've never seen anything like this that's a really deep purple. you can see it going
all the way up. that's, oh. the color's gone but that is absolutely insane, i've never seen it. it's
like, I'm lost for words it is unbelievable up here. keep out. well yeah because it's just a cliff.
it's just so high! oh the sixth station howdy. how was that first 20 minute climb? it was easy
easy but my heart says otherwise. do you want to break here or should we continue? uh, let's
have a quick break. look at this great hair. it's great. we made it to the sixth station. yep,
it's, it's, well it's only 93 meters to this one but um yeah the next one's a bit further up. it's an
hour to the next one. yeah this was 20 minutes, the next one's an hour walk. but we just saw the
nicest sunset, it's so nice like you can see it. What we got? Sixth station brand. this one's only what 20 meters- no.
2493, so only 93 meters up from where we started down the bottom. so still quite high up there
not exactly a big achievement. i feel like the next time we uh check in we're going to have our head torches on. what're they called? no we won't have them on yet, but we may be out
of light for the sun. so prepare to be in the dark, or darker even. so far it's not been that difficult
just like the floor is kind of sandy, so you kind of slide down. also the air is, it's
like noticeably thinner so you're taking like bigger breaths to get less air. big boys. there's actually like
little shops here and like vending machines so, I might buy a water it's like 300 yen, so this is
fine. it gets worse at the top. yeah the higher you, go the more it costs obviously. Theo's given
up. he's put his uh... i'm not giving up. i'm putting on the first of many layers. yeah, i just put
my jacket on too. although it's 31 degrees down there... it's pretty niffy up here- nippy, pretty
nifty. niffy- what am i trying to say? nippy. nippy noodles. you feeling warm? that's like your
only layer there right? for the legs yeah. yeah. fool! Fuji fool! okay guys so we are here about... those
lights down there the sixth station where you just saw us and as you can see it's pitch black. we
grossly underestimated how dark and how quickly it gets... no, how quickly it gets dark. oh it's
getting cold, it's getting windy and it's fully dark like that's, that's, that's the mountain
so we've had to put the old head torches on. hot damn tiring, really tiring. thoughts? come on. not fit enough. I am potato We're at the seventh station. I'm having, I'm having a Snickers. And Theo... I'm having Calorie Mate. i'm not mates with calories. shortcake? shortbread? i don't know, but it's chocolate its dusty. dusty? Its really dry. Calorie Mate's horrible. i don't
know why you bought it, it's so gross. calories mate. all i want is a pot noodle but this place is shut
and i thought i'd be able to get one here but no. Just Calorie Mate how you doing Ash? amazing views. oh my knee feels a bit twisted. in
my Michael Jackson gloves, AHEEHEE. what we having here Ash? a little pit stop? what's on the
menu? real gold jelly. real gold right well, we're off the sandy, gravelly,
slippy stuff and we're now on to this absolutely bonkers big sort
of flowing igneous rock. it's crazy. clearly some sort of ancient lava flow. it's
really cool but oh boy is it hard going. out of breath the rest stop is fortunately just up there. so here
we are we've just passed three thousand meters this is the old seventh station. we were mistaken
there's still forty more minutes till the eighth. how are you feeling? pretty good.
need a rest. it's a bit brutal but tell you what the views do not disappoint Onwards and upwards. Let's go. As you can see, the rock is mad. this is it's quite a, it's quite a brutal walk with
also some mad scenery like these rocks here. oh look who it is. that's mad bruv. what
are your thoughts halfway? just that just. there is literally no one here, like we're the
only people. it's crazy. yeah it's so empty there's like 10 people climbing at the same time's us.
like all spread out as far as we could tell. and a lot of the rest stops are shut.
there's like no one here it's really weird. it's not what... it feels really odd
to be climbing Fuji like on your own. very very strange because everyone
says that you're like stood in queues. like Disneyland but this is like there's no
one here. it's your boy, blinding with the lights. oh Christ there we go, yep. here
we go. onwards and upwards, let's go. Its so cold. Its freezing. We had to ask the man to let us in. very tired, we had a prolonged rest at the
eighth station uh 3000 something meters up. tried to get some sleep but it didn't work. got about
one minute. if anything made us feel a lot worse. an hour to go and then we're at the peak. Why can't this end sooner. I'll
catch up with you in a bit guys. gg. keep it going Ash it's just there look the benches are just there. those lights twinkling up there are
more people. god it looks steep. so we're making our way up the old final descent
or ascent even. and there's the sunrise, ah! we need to hurry up, get to the top, so we can
witness it rising over tokyo. the last few steps come on make it through oh ooh, there's a torii gate. nice. go on Ash go stand in it. oh the last few steps finish! oh just in time for the sunrise so here we are in the very final, very final bit Mount Fuji. and here's the star of
the show it's Ashley. miss oxygen tanks. and now we're walking to the other trail to see
that better sunrise. walking to the top of the Yoshida trail which is the eastern facing trail
which obviously gives you the unbelievable sunrise. would you look at that we've made it to the
top of Mount Fuji. thoughts Ash? it's great it's great. it's worth it's worth it. it's a pretty
brutal hike but it's definitely worth it. i'm super knackered but i mean look at this. i mean
what's the time? like four? what is the time? i think it's like 4:45 it's pretty late or early.
i've not had much sleep, i'm a bit delirious. but although you can see the sun's going to come
over those clouds over there. i don't know if you can see that but boy oh boy what a cool day, night. we climbed through the evening, through the night. wow. what a view. it is absolutely freezing up
here. it's super cold it's like three degrees. We did it! but now we have to go all the way back down. there's people all back there like sat on
the rocks. there's loads up... people up there. there's people everywhere but there's actually not that many people. but yeah normally it's it's like super busy up here. normally it's like packed you can't move for
space, it's like the great wall of china but today during corona, during these uncertain times on a
Wednesday... Thursday. what day is it? i don't know. it's been a super buff walk yeah. it's so cold that i'm gonna put
on my like ski hat. very fashionable. shake that thicky. it's Bailey's time, look at that
it's 4 50. you know what that means it's bailey's time. carried a whole
bottle of Bailey's up the mountain for this moment. look it's
coming you got to get the baileys. what are you doing? putting my blanket on. Why? Because i'm cold. It wouldn't be British hike, It wouldn't be Mount Fuji with some Baileys. without some Baileys even.
i don't have a cup though, so we're gonna have to like. we have to neck it from the bottle.
'tonight we're drinking from the-' we're going to get copyrighted for that that's creamy, that's creamy.
hang about let's do some like... oh yeah this is, this is it a job well done calls for some Baileys the freshness. could this be the most
scenic baileys of all time? baileys if you want to sponsor us just let us know
we can do more like this. cheers to you. cheers to mount Fuji. keep up the good work. keep up the good work. here's to you, We Go East. the viewers. and of course sponsored by-
not sponsored by Baileys. sun's fully up now. pepperoni. how is it? well I bit through the
plastic first, so its better now. enjoying your pepperoni?
pepperoni? pepperoni. king sausage. it's pretty windy but this is the view
from the top of the trail we climbed. look you can see that the 9.5 station and the nine
station they look so close to each other but they take half an hour to walk between because it's so
steep. is that snow? that is snow. right there you see it right? are you ready to go down? straight
back down. yeah, go straight back down. Ikimashou! what one is this? This is 9. We're currently back down at the ninth station. Ashley is just on the toilet. The views during the day are just unbelievable. very happy to have done
this but i'm super knackered and this walk down is just
it's brutal on the knees last video. back to where we started. oh so
knackered but it was worth it. we're here. back in the car park, 16 and a half hours later.
so tired. right. everything hurts. let's sign off thanks for watching. we hope you...
I'd still recommend coming to do it. I would definitely recommend it. it was a great
experience on the way up and at the top but way down was brutal. brutal indeed.
time to go to bed. not slept for 30 hours. see you
