hi everyone welcome back um it's been a long time since i've done a classroom vlog and i feel like i owe you guys a final tour from all my classroom setup videos if you haven't seen those they are linked below if you want to check them out um it is now january and this is my first year teaching in a pre-k classroom so i had a lot to learn and i was very busy so i didn't um vlog as much as i wanted to and i've even changed things in the classroom from what i had previous set up but that's the life of a teacher right if you have been waiting i'm sorry if you haven't been waiting welcome my name is kristen lankford like i said it's my first year in pre-k and i've learned a lot so let's see what the classroom looks like [Music] all right so this is the front door when you walk in we have our how the kids go home just with little clips on there we have this communication tool on the door just with you know pictures to help those kiddos who need to verbalize some of the things that they don't have the words for and then that's the closet which i can show you it's still kind of organized but it's still kind of a mess so we're doing a bulletin board right now with you stole a pizza my heart so that's the pizza oven we have like a million resources up there and then snacks more resources our county is giving a bunch of water for the kids so that's pretty awesome but we have to store all that my kids leave their backpacks here overnight great teacher tip if you have kiddos and then my desk area bag so it's kind of organized but still needs a little bit of help anyway so then when we come back out here they walk in we were doing our good morning greetings here as you can see they kind of fell off and we moved some of them to a different area so still a work in progress and they have their hand sanitizer here some wipes and this is our breakfast bag that we take this is just an anchor chart that we use during morning time and that's just a storage spot on the back counter i have my teacher toolbox with all the goodies that we need i have my days of the week bins that i house the activities that we're working on here's like our little letter hat that we're going to be doing next week for letter e and then other projects just go in here for like next week if i was working on them throughout the week we're making an elmo for letter e so cute um and then obviously this is kind of like high up storage so we put things up here that the kids can't reach got our handy-dandy headphones to cover those loud noises and then we have a sink of course what would be a coveted year without four cans of lysol and hand sanitizer and soap and dawn and then over here i do not have like a table set up with the projector and a computer so what i had to do is put it on my back counter and if i slide this way it goes to the white board there and so it it projects it so big that i actually don't get to use the screen i have to use the whiteboard which is kind of frustrating because i can't really put stuff on the board but it's okay we don't really use it that much it's more for like songs or engagement things like that and then we do weekly cooking on wednesday so we have our oven here and then if you come back i can show you the corner in a minute but that is our calm down area i got that chair from target for like 40 dollars and the kids love it the bucket the clear bucket that's sticking out is fidgets and things that the kids can play with when they're calming down and then i have obviously the emotions up here for how they're feeling some breathing techniques to help them calm down and then this is the bucket i was telling you about which is some manipulatives and stuff and then over here we have a ton of art supplies and projects going on there too the water fountain that's turned off a little sit and spin for also fidget time a mountain of tissue boxes and then when we turn here that's our bathroom i have our bathroom chart here to keep track of the kids that went to the bathroom one of my parents is making a teacher station for playtime so this is going to be a calendar and the kids are going to get pointers and they get to play teacher that was a nice empty wall that we decided to fill and then if you come here we moved this i feel like in the videos that i showed you guys before the kitchen was not here but we switched it up living you learn but we have our kitchen station here purchased this cute little melissa and doug thing and then this is the dollhouse station so the kids get the buckets and we carry over the dollhouse to the carpet area when they're playing and then the table is here chairs are stacked because it's the end of the day tables here we bought this cute little high chair for all these babies over here this is some of the fine motor options that the kids can pick so we have a play-doh a row and then we have a ton of puzzles that they can pick through we have potato head down here we also have a couple three-year-olds in our room so some of the younger toys we have these they're like princess dress up with magnets and then these are our morning tubs but the kids can also pick those during our play centers if they want to do fine motor because there's a lot of like lacing in here and then these are super fun and there's another one that's a popular let me see if i can find it oh here they are i remember these when i was growing up i don't know what they're called but the kids love them and they're very creative too all right so then we can move over here we have these towers that the kids can make and they love following the directions on that so that's a lot of fun to watch i have to kind of zoom out of some of this area because there's pictures but what i was showing you earlier with the good morning we moved it here because the kids have a sign in book where they write their name every day and so it just worked out better that they could sign in and then be greeted in this area let me zoom back out like i said there's some pictures over here i don't want to put anybody's face on but those are our buckets that house our poetry notebooks that we do every friday and then also our cookbooks these are the mailboxes the kids put their binders inside there every morning and then cubbies which are a mess we're still working on some folding skills right this is our sanitizing bucket and we still use it for that but one of our friends likes to get inside of there and have some fun and then moving right along we have the life cycle of a butterfly because we have a lot of milkweed plants on campus and so we have a butterfly net and sometimes we watch the life cycle through there so it's just some science questions we keep track of how long it's in the cocoon here we have the lovely train table that my parents were working on it is amazing the kids love it it's a lot of fun here is where we really did a lot of switching i have these three different shelves and at first during my learning centers i did like alphabet stuff math stuff discovery stuff and they each they had that center and they were divided by days of the week so like monday would go in this one then tuesday wednesday thursday friday and it was working well but i felt like the kids weren't getting enough differentiated instruction that way so now we've switched it up a little bit and we're still doing learning centers but now i'll show you in a minute there's only four learning centers and each teacher has a group except for computer so these kind of still house the materials but we can pull from these materials and the kids can use them as well at different times in the day all right so then if we're talking about the learning center's time this is the learning center's chart and so we have an alphabet center we have a word work center which is with me so phonemic awareness things like that writing center where they're learning strokes or learning the letter of the week writing their name and then technology which we've been doing abc mouse i have cards that have little circles of their pictures on it and we just rotate their pictures through they go to one center a day and it lasts about 15 minutes so on top of here i put the play center choices they go all the way down and then casey is in my class so i can leave her picture up and every kid has their cute little picture with their name on velcro and so there's choices there's only three people that can go into the center some of the centers might only have two and then they just come over and put their little person on their choice so eventually when we aren't dealing with covid it would be open play time so even if they're playing at dramatic play which is kitchen and they say oh you know i don't really want to play this anymore but i want to go to train table they can come look and see that only two kids are at train table they can take their person off and put their person here and then go play and then at the end wherever they are that's what they clean up but kovid you know isn't really working with that so we are having to do like 15 minute rotations where they still get choice they get to choose their center but they have to stay at that center the whole time which you know it's kind of not as not as ideal but it still works we will start here this one is the whiteboard center it's a brand new center that we're introducing it's going to be that teacher area that i was showing you with the calendar so we'll add velcro onto these numbers so that they can choose and then the next one we have art center we haven't opened this one yet and now we are because we wanted to give them a little bit more time to learn how to use the resources and then we had the discovery stuff like the sensory bins there's beans in there you know paper there's like the pom-poms things like that we have um sand and rice and so it was discovery center during the learning time but now we're gonna call it sensory play and it will be during play centers to where they can do that kind of stuff so those are three new ones that we are introducing next week then we have our train center kitchen dramatic play play-doh the doll house that i showed you guys over by kitchen fine motor which is all those little toys and then um puzzles and potato head and then the block station okay so then if we keep going this way this i have the chair over here for my messy desk area but this is the writing table that we were using for learning centers but now we're going to make it the art table and so it's still writing and art combined but we have crayons in here and then just letter cards that they can look at to be able to trace some word cards down there and then some markers for the kids who can handle it we have stamping ink pads and then some stamps some stencils kids love that some more abcs we have their names on here that they can use with whiteboard markers these you can write on i think they're called lcd pads or something like that and then they just erase it um we've done some teaching about that that you don't use these materials you have to use that little pen on it then we have a ton of coloring books and then this one is not so much art but we still put it here for like a writing activity with magnets and winter words so depending on the season they just have words i can find the letters and put them on the little cookie sheet we have our weekly targets which looks really pretty but to be completely honest it doesn't really work with how we do things because we don't have a color of the week per se they kind of a lot of them already know their colors so we don't even have to worry about that but it's nice to put it up there sometimes and just randomly say what's the color of the week up there the letter of the week we do with our curriculum and then shape is the same thing like we did a two week lesson on shapes 2d shapes and so now it's just more of like a review and then numbers we revisit all the time so it looks good but it's not used as much as i would like so next year i might not have that this just goes with our curriculum this is kind of my desk but also the computer area for the kids it's a touch screen computer and another area that is not ideal in my opinion because i need a space to work at but the kids also need a space and it just it's really crowded here our district gave us some touch screen laptops which i love and we use but i'd love to have them set up and not have to be plugged in and unplugged and put under here i'd love to have like this computer table used for a lot of the computers and have maybe the printer down there and this touch screen computer maybe somewhere else and just use this for the laptops but we'll get there slow and steady right and then up here i have my learning targets so our letter of the week and then our picture cards that go with it we have a social emotional goal um literacy when we're reading our stories which pretty much is retelling or asking questions and answering and then our letter of the week and sound math skill and then for science it's kind of more of a one-time thing or discovery center area okay and then the board has not changed much it's pretty much just the way it was on the videos i love this board our really cute flowers did fall down because they had too much hot glue and they were too heavy but that's okay here we have the student work we did d for dinosaur obviously we're still working on our b's and d's but they do that till uh what first grade then we have our jobs over here rules on the rug we love that little guy we call him bob so we tell the kids oh are you sitting like bob and then our class agreements are here what we do is we use the visual to say the saying each time that we're on the rug and then like i said casey's in my room so i can keep her picture on mondays they use their picture and they put it next to their class agreement that they would like to work on for the week and then on friday we talk about how do you do with it what do you think things like that they really like that also on friday we pick a star student who gets to come up and do the visuals and say the class agreements and then the kids repeat after them uh down here is our weekly poem that we do this is actually a chart with like nursery rhymes in it and so we do some of those and we circle the letters things like that but then we also have been doing some themed poems every day during the week we read it and we do little motions with it and then i'll do phonemic awareness with it like um snow man and then they say snowman or we'll do rhyming words or we'll um do concepts of print you know how many letters how many words are in this sentence all those types of skills just with one little poem and it's a quick little lesson right before they lay down for nap okay let's see we have our anchor charts we do an anchor chart each week filling up with words that we learn throughout the week that start with the letter and on fridays we do something called sharon show so the kids bring in things that start with that letter and then we fill out our chart based on the items that they bring in to share that start with that letter this is our wishing well and i took all the kids pictures off these are me and the teachers and every morning when they come in they put their picture on and the kids who are absent we put them inside of the heart and we sing we wish you well we wish you well it's really cute it's simple easy talks about who comes to school and who doesn't come to school for our morning meeting we also go over our calendar this one is a teacher workday so i didn't have a picture for that but to show them you know we don't have school that day martin luther king day and then we have two birthdays so we just we don't really do a lot here we just count up to that number we take out the day that today is and sing our days of the week song to figure out what the day is and then we count how many days until like an event that is happening so super simple compared to what i was used to in first grade down here is our student schedule these are on velcro which i love and i have a schedule helper or teacher helper but she mostly does the schedule and so when they come in in the morning they start with table centers and then they move on to go to breakfast all together as a class when we come back into class we do our morning meeting which would be the wishing well and the class agreements and we do a social emotional lesson during that time in the calendar and then this is the learning center's chart so even though the pictures down here are the same for centers and centers my kids know that it's learning centers first so that's when we do our small groups with the teachers after that we we actually do some songs in between here but it doesn't have a card and then we go to the playground we come back in we have a snack and then we have story time then we have play centers and then lunch when we come back from we also do songs before lunch uh when we come back from lunch this abc time is actually our poem i should probably make a new one of that but they they know what it means and then nap time we do a math circle and one day a week we do a science circle instead of a math circle and then go home so on wednesdays when it's cooking day we switch this out a little bit we have playground instead of eating snack right away we do a story and then we do a recipe with our recipe cards and we build like today was a rainbow cupcake so they got to put blue icing on top of the cupcakes and rainbow candy it was really cute okay and then here i have our classroom library they each have their own book box it is a hot mess because kids but you know that's pretty much it i'll pan around to give you the last view of how the tables are we have quite a few tables in here because of covid we want to give them as much space as we can so we have about three kids at every table and they have the dots on there so that we say what color table it is they normally have name tags on but they were getting really really messy so we're reprinting them and the new nine week starts on tuesday so we're gonna put new name tags down and get new seats and then we also have these dots on the floor from vinyl which is their line order so that's it okay so that's everything i'm sorry you had to wait so long to see the final tour and i'm sure it's going to change because i it's my first year and i got to see what works and what doesn't work and what works one year might not work the next year but that's okay i'm already thinking next year i want to move my carpet so in front of the whiteboard and i need to stop it's perfectly fine we're having a great year but there's always things that you want to change so anyways i hope you enjoyed this i tried to explain as much as i could but if you have any other questions about anything that i mentioned in the video please leave a comment below i'll see if i can make a video about it or explain it a little more and then i'm hoping to do some weekly teacher vlogs to get you in on what our lesson plans are and what the day-to-day life is of a pre-k teacher so thanks for watching if you like this video give it a big thumbs up and subscribe and we will see you next time bye
