CLASSROOM SETUP | part 1 ✿

[Music] hi guys welcome back to my channel if you are new here my name is kathy i am now a third year fifth grade teacher fifth not 10th so excited that you guys are here today is going to be my classroom set up day one if you guys don't know yet i just recently moved to san diego california and so i have a brand new classroom i'm in a brand new city so this is basically starting over in my classroom setup and it's totally different from last year because i am now in a portable if you guys want to keep watching and watch my classroom setup series please don't forget to subscribe down below so you don't miss any other videos my dad is also here helping me which is so phenomenal he's actually my family is visiting in town and i got to go in my classroom today so i'm very excited to get like things going i've already gone in i'm so excited let's go all right you guys so this is my classroom it is a portable um very comparable to like a trailer or something so this is the overview it is honestly bigger than i remember i did a demo lesson here and there's lots of storage space there's still a few things in here that the previous teacher left i think so they'll be moving that stuff but i have three white boards which is kind of new to me there's the stuff that i brought in so far i still have probably two more trips to go my dad's putting my chair together all of my fifth graders have desks once those are in here i think it's definitely gonna get filled up pretty quickly and then i've got a little sink but like i said it is a portable which is kind of nice um it kind of feels like you're you know in your own little area and right next door will be my team teacher basically share this big portable i'm actually really happy with the storage cabinets i've already looked through and it's pretty pretty good size i was worried about this but we do have a kidney table so i'm excited i think this is where i'm gonna have my desk the previous teacher had her desk up here and then the smart board was here and i also have a standing desk kind of overwhelmed just because i don't really know what to do with this space yet and there's still like stuff over here um i think i'm going to just try to map some stuff out and like see what i want to do first because i just don't know where to start right now and i don't know i just have like a bunch of little things here what i do like actually um i don't know if you guys are fans of carpet but i actually love having carpet in the classroom i think it gives more like a comfortable homey feel and if i do have carpet in here it doesn't slip around as much my other classroom was tile floors and so all my carpets would move around i'd have to tape down also i just noticed there's not like bulletin board there's not a space for bulletin boards it's not really like a bulletin board classroom as you guys can see i'm going to zoom into the walls a little bit but it's like this material and so i'll have to definitely makeshift some bulletin boards which i definitely want to do i want to have like math ela stuff so i think this space would be good for bulletin boards here guys have any suggestions on what to do let me know down below okay so i think the first thing i need to do is lay out the desks so that i can see what space i'm working with [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay this is just what we're playing with right now i would like students to be in like groups hopefully the group of four here group of four here four and then two here facing the board to here facing the board that's 16 desks and i don't know what my student count will be it could be 18 it could be 20 it could be less i don't know so just playing with it let me know what you guys think you know like obviously students would be facing each other and then they would have to turn their bodies to look up here maybe kidney table here also classroom library needs to go somewhere okay kidney table right here for small group i think this is a good space i got the keys someone just came in and dropped these off so now i have everything we made some organization improvements a standing desk i believe i am going to put like against this area so that i can see what i'm doing with the board like that that'll be my small group oh yeah sorry i know i'm a hot mess just bringing you guys all over the place but i'm thinking this whole area once the chairs are removed this will be the classroom library right there it's big it's spacious classroom library i might actually use that table as like a flexible seating option just like against the wall or maybe in this space i don't really know what to do with this space yet but my futon could definitely fit there and i thought i wasn't gonna put my futon in so i'm excited to actually like fill up some more stuff all right guys good morning and welcome to classroom setup day two we're back again i'm so tired today because just was not like the best night's sleep my dad is back and here to help me um but we basically brought in a majority of the stuff that i had in my garage what we're gonna do today is take everything out of the boxes which i don't know if that's a great idea but for right now i don't really remember what i have so i think i need to take everything outside of its box and kind of like organize it um here on the floor by like decor books curriculum school supplies i think that's what i'm going to do and then i can start like putting things away and planning what i need and don't need we're going to tackle this this mess and i think that'll help me just like feel better about where things need to go [Music] currently this is what we have this is decor stuff which i thought i had way more things random miscellaneous new things that i got all of my decor um school supply stuff organizational things um and just a few things like on the tables but this is what i'm thinking you guys so because this little area back here is more discreet i'm probably going to set up my safe seat area like here with my affirmation mirror here the sink area and then this will be my classroom library like i said yesterday so that's what i'm thinking right now and i don't know how much we're gonna get done today because our family members are coming soon i don't know we're gonna put that there for now to cover up the cords just so students aren't like messing with this stuff um it's just a rug that i got from five below actually so i think that will work should we put the other one right here then to match i have two i don't know yeah let's put two so it um matches okay guys this is what i have i took the rug off just because i really wasn't feeling it let me know what you guys think um i don't know it's fine for now i don't want to be like thinking about it too much but honestly we're just trying to put things together so right here i have my standing desk i put my tendril cart which i love this will be nice for me just to have everything really close by so i'll have my plans and stuff like that here um still just trying to organize this mess we got so hot that air apparently wasn't on um so we just turned it on [Music] okay my dad and i are both perfectionists so that's what we have so far i actually really like it it looks really nice so apparently our family is at our house now so we kind of have to leave but i hope you guys enjoyed this second day i feel like i haven't got that much stuff down here like i want to just because it's it's just so much busier than it was last year like i have a baby our family's here so we have to just kind of get whatever we can done so i might just like combine days one two and three together um so i hope you guys are enjoying this one so far and we'll see you next wanted to show you guys what we've done so far so i can start my classroom setup day three and four my dad and i put these little guys up on the whiteboard i also got some of these star string lights hung up on my whiteboard and smart board added a little rug here um i'm really excited about this area right here this is actually where i'm gonna hang my star student i think i'm gonna have a star student every month um it'll be an anchor chart and i'll have students sign and write down their favorite qualities of that student this will be that board and then i just put my desk here as you guys saw last time and then here is my safe seat um i did do a little bit of a change i added the mirror to the wall which is a lot better in my opinion and i got these two cushions from typo i believe is what it's called super cute store oh and i need to be better about not showing the school name that's up here so i'm going to show you guys the front of the classroom i decided to put our world map here which um a lot of my students will be students from all over and so i wanted to incorporate this in my classroom i wanted to do it last year i didn't have a lot of students that were from other countries so this year i want to incorporate where are we from so i'll be pinning students names on these and this is going to be the student center like a turn in bed maybe some missed work and then these two caddies right here will hold pencils paper all that good stuff so i have that up here and yeah it's still a hot mess in here but we're getting things put away i feel like that is the quick
