Timpani guy was on point.
That first conductor was Karl Bohm, leader of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a long time in the 70s. He is considered one of the greatest interpreters of Mozart and Beethoven, and is known for his slow tempos and introspective interpretations. Later in his life he could conduct an orchestra with precision with the slightest of movements. He is by far my favorite conductor for Beethoven's symphonies, his 1972 recording of the Pastoral Symphony is sublime. In the video he is conducting the first movement of Beethoven's 7th, a symphony all about rhythm and dance.
Edit: typo
The Miss America violinist though...
We need to invent something better than a manuscript on a stand. Something digital that changes with the music for each musician.
I could totally see that Timpani guy being like, "I don't care what anyone says, I'm not wearing a fucking tux to this show when I'm all the way in the back. Imma do me."
This reminds me of that classical concert video where a brass player does one really loud horn note. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It was more funny than cringe but it was awesome.
At 2 minutes with the Russian national anthem, I heard that was intentional. That they butchered it in front of Putin on purpose, you can even see the president smirk a little bit. Does anyone know if that's actually true?
The one at 7:14 seems like a win, not a fail.
Can anyone translate the argument at 5:35?
