hello so this video is going to be one of my cosy crime book confuse now all of these books are from the same series which is the British Library crime classics that's quite difficult to say they are completely beautiful books they look amazing on my shelf and they are books that for whatever reason have gone out of print and the British Library have republished them for the modern reader all of the books that I'll be mentioning will be linked in the description bar below so if you're after some new cozy crime vintage mysteries then this is the video for you so let's get straight into it so first up we have murder in the museum by John Rowland this is a very small little book from 1938 a lovely time for these cozy reading crime books now this is about a professor Julius Arnold who fully enough is at the Museum the British Museum breathing room he sat there he's doing some work he then takes a sugared almond and he eats it as he usually does but this one is laced with poison and he dies and the inspectors come in with the help of a man called Henry Fairhurst to investigate the crime this book I loved so much I really enjoyed it it is so addictive I was completely glued each chapter is very short sweet to the point but each one is left on the cliffhanger ending so you can't help but want to read the book in one go which is what I did it has a great cast of characters and I've just enjoyed it too saying much I generally don't know why this book went out print it's such a good Golden Age crime mystery and I can't recommend it enough I gave it four out of five stars I completely loved it and I've put more of John Rowling's work on my wish list because a British Library have commissioned some more so very excited to read they seen next up I have the Cornish coast murder by John Bude another John and this is about a vicar called vicar Dodd who likes to read cozy crime mysteries he likes Agatha Christie etc and then when an ill-tempered man in the vicar's village is murdered the vicar goes in to help investigate with the police when I was reading this book it's seems like there were no clues it seems like one clue they thought would really help propel you forward was just leading to another dead end and it feels like it's a really clever and very tangled book I love how this book went full circle so you start with the vicar sat in his living room reading co2 crime mysteries and discussing them and then you do the whole mystery you come back full circle and it finishes like that as well I loved that organization element to it too for me personally I wanted a little bit more time with the vicar I wanted to see more of his personality I wanted to see a bit more of the inspectors personality I feel like I didn't really get their full character in this however I did really enjoy it I gave it three and a half stars and I will be adding more of John Bude stuff onto my wish list very soon so I would recommend this book and finally it last but certainly not least it's probably the most famous of all these books it is the female detective by Andrew Forester this is the first detective mystery that features a female detective and for that that is why it's worth reading for me it's not the best in regards to plot or storyline or detective or writing style for me it's just it's not at my street however this is just a very historic monument for a superfan like myself whose favorite detectives are Miss Marple and missile that etc it was this book that paved the way for those future detectives that I now love and that is the reason why you should check this book out everything else was ok but it's just a historical poignant book and if you're a fan of you know Miss Marple or miss Sylvia etc then you should read where the original female detective came from so that's it for this case ii crime mystery review i hope one of these three books have now made a wish list let me know in the comment section which one it is or have you read them all already if you want to get your hands on any of these books or check out the british library and check out their collection that i'll leave links for all these three books and the british library in the description bar below so that's it for today's video take care and I shall see you soon for the next one by Flo
