CJ Davis says 16 shot, 2 killed at Orange Mound block party shooting

Of course, it is. Good evening. We have Chief Davidson again. We just wanna address this incident guys. So what I'm gonna do is just give you all an update of what I can give you right now. Ok, tell me when. Ok, so at 7:19 p.m. MP D officers responded to the 2400 block of Carnes Avenue regarding a shoot regarding a shooting officers located five victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds on the scene, three of whom were transported to area hospitals in critical condition and two males were pronounced deceased on the scene. Officers were notified that 11 additional gunshot victims arrived by private vehicle at area hospitals as well for a total of 16 victims. This was a block party in the Orange Mound Park that was occurring as far as we know without a permit. There were approximately 200 to 300 people in attendance at this event. In light of recent events, we stand together to denounce the senseless acts of violence in our community. We are working tirelessly tonight to identify the individuals who were involved in this shooting. We believe there are at least two individuals that fired weapons during this incident later on tonight or in the morning. We are asking that anyone that has video footage of anything that occurred in Orange Mound Park this evening to upload that video footage to our crime stoppers website. And that would be crime. We don't have any suspects in custody. However, as I said, the Memphis Police Department and our partners are working tirelessly to identify these individuals.
