welcome back to PMT Fu otherwise known as Penn & Teller fool us let's read that next potential fuller my name is Chris funk the wondrous the wondrous means that I am a practitioner of wonder so the things that I incorporate that make it me would be my sense of humor my wittiness my hair and I incorporate live music into my show to present the magic in a different way it's kind of miraculous that I'm actually here right now in January in the middle of a show I was doing the Michael Jackson lean and I tore my Achilles tendon and the doctors actually said that I shouldn't be walking today that moment terrified me well I had the mindset that I'm walking I'm gonna suck it up and I'm gonna figure it out and I've been walking for about 3-4 weeks now just in time to make it on the show please welcome Chris farmer you thank you well this card trick time cuz what's a magic show without an abundance of card tricks besides unique and original let's get crazy and have a bunch you selective so couple playing cards here looks like you three can hardly wait control the excitement I'm gonna have the three of you actually just join me right here would you mind doing that round of applause for the three most spectacular people in this row what is your name what's your name Tina Lexi Lexi alright I'm gonna have you select some playing cards we're gonna do this in the fairest way possible Shawn I'm gonna have you gone up about half the cards if you will please beautiful and I want you to turn them face up like that with a good little Flair of the wrist if you don't mind fantastic and put them down face up right on top of this pack here ease up yes excellent what we've done is we've marked a spot we've marked a spot with some face-up cards meeting some facedown cards I'm gonna have you take that first facedown card I want you to memorize it you're gonna take the next card memorize it you're gonna take the bus card memorize it go ahead memorize the cards there's a little camera lurking behind you but I'm gonna have you do is show that camera I'm gonna turn my back I don't want to see a thing ready do it have you done it are you still there right here okay good I want you to place the cards back anywhere in the deck that you would like go ahead Tien least I got very good Sean I'm gonna get you to give him a quick little mix up just like this if you'll mind beautiful round of applause take your seat didn't always know I was gonna be a magician no I thought I was gonna be a musician let me rephrase that I was told I was gonna be a musician anyone feeling my pain anyone a couple of you yacht parents broke the news to me at the age of six when they told me I'd be taking music lessons on the violin pretty awesome anyways I'd always wondered what it would have been like if I'd combine my love of music with my love of magic well now is the time this is the place I learned that music was powerful music had the ability to move hearts mines booty and this evening playing carts starting a few sir I'd like you to name the card that you selected out loud for everyone to hear or of spades four of spades alright it's a small number a little number a fun number sounds like a job for Mozart we're gonna play name that tune get your phones out and Shazam it Tina card you selected was at the Kingdom Hearts the King of Hearts who hearts love love romance and I'd like your name a composer anyone at all um Scott pop perfect let's do something Bach um tell her what I need you to do is name a song by Bach brave D major I couldn't have picked a better one myself good choice my friend brandy major by Bach King of Hearts romance last but not least the card you selected wise Ace of Spades Ace of Spades oh nice we got to do something special for the most special card in the deck a Syrah chat to each other see if they know what's going on the first one we can't start with they're talking about your magnificent pompadour up there thank you did you want to try it on it's fantastic where do you look for inspiration when you're developing something obvious when you're working on a new illusion what inspires you I try to look for my inspiration in the most unusual places possible so it could be the way I see someone dressed when they might spark an idea in my head or a song that I listen to on repeat might just make me think differently about a concept um that's where this violin routine actually came from I was listening to a piece and I just felt inspired on the road and all of a sudden this popped into my head I got home I quickly tried it out it worked and I was fired on us well I loved the ending when you were balancing the violin as well that was that alone I think was worthy of a lot of applause but certainly the whole of fantastic the musings hey you know why I started out Chris as a juggler and there was a time when we went on Broadway but my father came to see the show there's no juggling in the show my father said you know ah it's nice to do all that magic stuff but you have one place in the show where you juggle so the audience knows you know how to do something it is so wonderful that you can really play the violin and it's great to see someone who could really do something in all this what a nice routine we know about rising cards it's nice to see a vanishing birdcage being used to vanish something besides a birdcage and in all your classical music studies you know you mentioned Mozart you mentioned Bach but you'd mention our favorite you know who is who is Belle du chí does that ring any bells with you one or two okay bark one two or three yep so uh so I think we have a pretty good idea how you did it beautifully done you tell you enough on that so for the rest of us sakes who really don't kind of understand what's going on here well do Qi was enough of a reference and the other things he said to make you accept that you didn't fool them I didn't for that we didn't fall beautifully the rest of us have tremendous Las Vegas is a gambling town I'm willing to bet you'll stick around for more fuller so done go away
