Chinese Type 69 RPGs in Ukraine

there are a number of different rpg7 patent rocket launchers in use in Ukraine including the American pslr one the Czech lg7 and the Bulgarian atlg and WR rpg7 to name a few but one of the most interesting to appear is the Chinese type 69 the type 69s were potentially supplied by one of the Baltic states laia Lithuania Estonia which held them in inventory during the '90s and early 2000s the type 69 was in service in the Estonian Armed Forces as the m69 and appears to have remained in infantry into the early 2010s another possible origin is that they were part of a seized shipment of small arms and light weapons supplied to the houthis in Yemen by Iran a number of these shipments were intercepted on Route by the US and have since been transferred to Ukraine as Aid check out my earlier video on that if you haven't already however there doesn't appear to be any type 69s in any of the imagery from the seized shipments the typ 69 is essentially a clone of the Russian rpg7 manufactured by China's State arsenals it's been successfully sold around the world by ninko and zinai it entered into service with the Chinese people's Liberation Army in 1972 replacing the ear time 56 and served into the late 1990s the Chinese RPG's distinguishing features include the absence of a rear pistol grip an orangey Brown flute Ed heat shield around the tube a forward bipod and a carrying handle fitted to the top of the launcher there's also a fall down shoulder support which is removable the type 691 introduced in the 1980s is slightly shorter than the original type 69 and has slightly different sights with the rear sight assembly being more centrally positioned on the tube the earliest evidence of type 69s in Ukraine I've come across is a video posted by the Ukrainian YouTube channel tactic coach published on the 29th of November 2023 which discusses RPG 7s in general but features a type 69 subsequently on the 19th of January the 22nd separate mechanized Brigade shared several photos of troops training with type 69s another undated photograph shows the interior of a Ukrainian Armory with crates of ammunition and Transit chests and a Barrett m107 and a pair of chin type 69s on the 21st of January a Ukrainian combatant believed to be associated with Ukraine's Special Operations forces shared a photograph holding a type 69 by its carrying handle on the 18th of February the 22nd mechanized Brigade again shared an album of photos showing troops training with the type 69 giving us our best look at the Chinese RPG in Ukraine so far for now the type 69s in Ukraine appear to be relatively rare so if you spot any let me know in future videos we'll take a look at some of the other RPG variants in use in Ukraine including those from Bulgaria the Czech Republic and the US check out some of my earlier videos on rpg7 related topics which have mostly focused on improvised Warheads including fire extinguishers fragmentation warheads and shovels thanks for watching just a short one this week thanks to brv and the ever helpful weapons Illustrated over on X for their help sourcing some of the imagery used in the video check out the accompanying blog for this article to find links to their Pages if you enjoyed this video don't forget to like comment share and subscribe please consider supporting us via patreon or check out the history of weapons and War app links to both of those are in the description box below thanks again for watching catch you next time
