remember the first covet 19 vaccine jabs they gave us hope that life might return to what it was before the pandemic if we could only get enough people vaccinated but some of the nations leading the world in vaccinations are still struggling with coronavirus chile has the third highest vaccination rate worldwide nearly 40 percent of their population has received at least one shot but cases there have been surging alternatives [Music] chile has largely depended on china's cinoveg a two-dose vaccine vaccines definitely work they slow transmission they prevent serious disease and mortality and i want to point out even coronavac does that too by sonovac so but in terms of normalcy or normality the key is we have to bring the cases down to uh zero or near zero and vaccines is only part of the picture as chile began vaccinating it opened back up many epidemiologists say it could have done the opposite like israel [Music] israel's fight against the coronavirus has been an example for the world the country has fully vaccinated a majority of its population and case numbers and death rates have plunged unlike chile when israel reached a 30 vaccination mark it was still pushing tight restrictions in public life and traveling virtually all of its adult population vaccinated against the coronavirus israel fears that new more contagious virus variants could pose a threat you really need to get to a point of hurt immunity before you can really let off the break in terms of all the mitigations and i want to emphasize to people that when you are at uh herd immunity and wet and for a contagious virus it's not just 75 it may have to be higher 80 85 only then uh will a herd immunity actually prevent and slow and stop an ongoing outbreak for most countries it will take additional lockdowns as well as time to get enough vaccinations before they can really beat covet 19.

Apesar do aumento de casos em Israel, as internações por lá continuam a níveis extremamente baixos. Mortes diárias tem sido poucas ou nenhuma. Se os casos da doença são em sua maioria leves e de certa forma as pessoas mais fragilizadas estão protegidas pela imunidade de rebanho… por que se importar com número de casos então? Por que não decretar logo o fim social da epidemia, já que o vírus não irá desaparecer num futuro próximo?

Feigl-Ding fala de "imunidade de rebanho," sendo então importante ressaltar que o termo não implica em deixar o vírus correr solto esperando conseguir essa imunidade "de graça." Vacinação acompanhada de medidas de restrição de contágio são a forma mais segura de se conseguir imunidade de rebanho, e argumentavelmente a única viável com esse vírus.

Eu Não vi o vídeo, mas eu vi que os casos estavam aumentando em Israel e nos EUA também. Não sei se o vídeo e sobre isso. Mas se for isso, vamos lá:

Não dá pra falar que era inesperado, né? Controle da pandemia não significa o fim dela. Os EUA por exemplo, estavam agindo é vivendo como se a pandemia lá tivesse acabado, sem máscara, liberando tudo e de todo jeito e não funciona bem assim. Uma população vacinada é ótimo pq diminui os casos e mortes e controla a pandemia. Mas tem que ficar na redia curta. A gente vive em um mundo muito globalizado, Então enquanto a pandemia não tiver oficialmente acabado, ainda vai ser um risco.
