hi it's mrs. Watson and today we're going to answer the question what's in that egg is this a turtle egg frog egg fish egg or chicken egg this is a turtle egg these are frog eggs these are fish eggs this is a chicken egg today we're going to look at the lifecycle of a chicken during the 21 days that it takes for a chick to grow inside an egg a lot happens there are many changes during these days let's take a look at what happens inside of an egg [Music] when the chick is strong enough it will use a little bump on its beak called an egg tooth to help it break out of the egg do you see the chicks beak [Music] can you hear the peeps ounds coming from inside the egg as sooner the egg is laid a chicken begins to form mother chicken is called a hen and sits on the eggs for about 21 days let's watch as this chick begins hatching from its egg [Music] Patchen can take several hours [Music] it's hard work breaking out of the egg look at how exhausted this chick is now [Music] now that they have hatched it's time to move the chicks over to the birder they will spend many hours huddled together under the heat lamp now they have begun eating chicken food and drinking water [Music] the chicks are getting stronger more active and noisier every day [Music] did you see that chick fall asleep while standing up being a new chick sure is exhausting after our chicks get bigger they will live on a farm our chicks don't look like this yet but after about six months they will look like these chickens chickens cannot fly long distances they can only fly when escaping predators are getting in a tree to roost chickens are not just brown white or black they can also be red blue green silver or gold chickens eat worms insects snails fruits and vegetables did you know that chickens are the most common bird in the world a Hanalei about 300 eggs a year [Music] free-range means that chickens have more space to move around these chickens are free-range so they are allowed out of their coats during the day look at how excited they are to get out of there - I hope that you like learning about the chicken lifecycle the eggs and chicks shown in this video were our kindergarten chicken eggs that we were hatching at school we were excited to show you how much they have grown and changed already now let's take a look at what our activity for today will be
