Kath is one of the most unheralded of the rock Gods. This performance, in particular, is transcendent.
Old dude here......saw the original Chicago 9 times. Saw Hendrix 2 times. I said it then as I do now, Kath was the better guitar player! After seeing Chicago the first time, I saw them the eight other times just to hear Kath!
I love Chicago, and Terry Kath has got to be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time.
Babe im gonna leave you and this are eerily similar
According to composer Robert Lamm, the song is about trying to write a song in the middle of the night. The song's title is the time at which the song is set: 25 or 26 minutes before 4 AM.
This song is a real hidden gem when it comes to all-time great guitar solos. When you think Chicago, face melters might not come to mind, but this song is undeniably a shredfest.
Chicago on the front page! A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Chicago is my favorite group. I saw them twice this year and met them in June. I also saw Peter Cetera in June. Join us over at r/Chicagoband
Seen Chicago a few years ago, and their one trumpet player who's gotta be in his mid 60s at least is nuts! Dude was moving around like he was 30 and didn't rest for the full 2 1/2 hour show.
100% agree on Kath. Peter Cetera's lead vocal and his bass part are solid as well. With that said, I sure hate the syrupy, schlocky direction he took them later.
