Chevy SSR - HVAC Blend Door Calibration

hi this is Robert do retro car guy 5:30 thanks for coming back to the channel and checking out a Chevy SSR tech tip today's tech tip for the SSR is related to the HVAC blend or calibration procedure and the fact that you might need two people to do it depending on how nimble your fingers are in one hand but you might need two people but it can't be done with one so I'll demonstrate it today in this video so after the intro we'll get into the checking that out please review the automotive information repair and modification guidelines on the screen seek the advice of a repair professional if you're unsure how to perform any repair or modification safely and correctly all repairs and modifications are performed at your own risk in front of you you can see the three HVAC control knobs this being the temperature control knob this being the blower motors speed selection and this being the air Direction selection knob and then the buttons that correspond to each of those is we have the air conditioning on/off toggle the recirculation selection button which causes when of course when it engaged will cause it to pull mostly the air from inside the cab and then the rear window defroster button which also enables the side side view mirror heating elements so the three buttons that you see there are going to be pressed simultaneously to initiate this process and with that we also need to be able to turn on the ignition switch from the off position to the run or on position without starting the engine so depending on how flexible your hand is that particular day you should be able to do it with one person but you might want to select two different people to allow you to press the buttons with one person and then the second person doing the ignition switch or if you're nimble enough that day you can get it done with one person pressing the knobs the buttons I'm sorry and the turning the ignition switch is well which is what I'm going to be showing you today so the procedure is you press these three buttons simultaneously you turn the ignition switch from the off to the on run position without starting the engine you hold these for 5 seconds and the lights will be steady and then go quickly flashing you release the buns at that point and then you depress the recirculation button for a moment and you'll see the buttons begin to flash quickly and at that point the blend or calibration is going on and I've put the blower motor speed selection to four so you can hear hopefully the air coming out at that point that way you can hear it move the blend doors and you should be able to hear the air being directed to various locations so let's go ahead and get that going so let me get my three fingers on here so there we go and let's go from off to on position and you can see that the light is steady at the moment it's begun to flash I've released and now I'm gonna press this and released and you it's gone to like a medium speed flash at this point and I can hear that the air is going out to the various vents be it lower or the - vents or up through the defroster which I think it ends up at at the end and when it completes the process there we are with the defroster and when it completes the process these will begin flashing quickly and it's returned to the position I believe it started at and these are flashing quickly so we have completed that process so that's as easy as it is depending again how quickly and easily you can get your fingers in pressing those three buttons simultaneously so if you ever need to calibrate your HVAC blend doors on your Chevy SSR that's how you do it so if you like the content I've asked you to give a like to the video and hopefully if you haven't already please subscribe to the channel and come back to the channel for more Chevy SSR tech tips thanks for watching if you like this video hit the thumbs up button if you're stopping by the channel for the first time and you want to please subscribe click that Bell icon to get notified when I upload new videos please follow retro car guy 530 on Facebook Instagram and Twitter thanks for taking the time to visit the channel and I'll see you in the next one
