my name is Sophia Lacy I've been living in De Moine Iowa and I'm so excited because I get to move back here to bville Arkansas it's been a lifelong dream of mine to own a home especially here in my hometown she has bought her first house it's a huge milestone for her and she's asked us to be a part of it I'm so excited I love the location it's a great spot but house needs a lot of work okay what are you plan to spend on the renovation I have 2:30 saving up working hard and so hopefully that's good them out yeah yeah right now the house is super dated it's really dark it has a lot of old features oh that's a giant fireplace hug I'd love to have a fireplace this kind of just closes everything off so if you can find a place for it this fireplace takes up the entire living room so I feel like we can make it smaller but the floor is actually sinking come feel it I'm telling you you'll feel it oh my gosh yeah it is wow I bet the weight of this brick caused this depression in the middle of the room so I think we got to get rid of that just for safety yeah but I also want to see what's going on with the other side of this fireplace what is that this is where water came in right here oh no and you can feel it here too that brick fireplace has got to come out oh my gosh I don't know if the brick goes all the way down to the foundation if it's sitting on the floor if the floor is rotten something's going on it's definitely low area in the house maybe we just open this wall get rid of the fireplace and move the fireplace somewhere else in the living room what if you move it over there so maybe we move the garage door back here you enter the garage this way get rid of the door and then just put the electric fireplace on this wall and then we can open this wall up so then actually that'd be nice cuz when you walk in the front door you'll see right to the kitchen the plan for the living room is move the front door so that it's centered up on the room and the front porch and then this fireplace is gone this wall is gone and we're going to put an electric fireplace onto this wall and we're going to take this door that goes out into the garage and move it around the corner so you enter perfect on this side replace the flooring and new lighting as well of course yes okay so now this kitchen is open so that gives us a chance to have a nice Island I think these are original appliances I think they are here's the bedroom okay okay this is nice size yeah pretty good size just needs a little updating yeah just kind of boring right now just a little yeah doesn't have any personality exactly okay the closet's a good size it's kind of like jetted out into the middle of the room and feels weird so we can reconfigure this I mean this is small bathroom there's a little corner shower but it's like actually not that small of a space it's just doesn't feel like it's laid out well I'd really love to have a great bedroom and bathroom I've always had to share bathroom my whole life so I think it'd be really great to have my own space and little environment just something that still has the English cottage Vibe as well we'll just figure out a way to reconfigure the closet in the bathroom so you get as much storage as possible and then in the bathroom itself will update of course the flooring give you a nice shower new storage new countertop new sink new lighting everything new and they get really beautiful and then in the bedroom give you new flooring of course we'll paint and give you new lighting and we need to give it a personality y works for [Music] me we're taking out the whole wall just go through it yeah I'm really worried about well just that whole floor system whether it's just the weight of the brick that's been sitting on it or if we have a bigger issue with some water damage oh oh my gosh man I've never seen it have you ever seen I've never seen this in a crawl space holy cow babe I now know why all of these floor joists are sagging they're full of moisture because there is 8 in of water sitting underneath this house it's what's causing this floor to do that yeah oh without a doubt and that is a lot of water is it an expensive problem that's the question okay these don't look like they're rotten I mean we'll have to get underneath there but they look like they're brand new yeah I'll bet you right there as you leak yeah hopefully that was just this refrigerator that was leaking but what it looks like we're going to have to we're going to have to pull this to find out now that we know all this we got to make sure it's taken care of and safe for her let's put that on so we can get the all the rest of this kitchen demoed she bought this house not knowing there's a flood underneath her house I think we can address it and take care of it doing demo we found out that we think the refriger Ator was leaking down there I just think it was old and didn't hold water anymore we fixed the leak I want to get this pumped out make sure we have no water I think we can just leave this going cuz it's going to be a few hours yeah let's go see how everyone's doing outside and we'll come back and check it later on I think out here let's just start we're going to just open everything up and get the city to come over here and do an inspection and see if we can get it to where it meets all the code and then we can just keep the covered roof because it would be so nice to have on the back we've got this whole crawl space dry so I know there's not an active leak filling it up and we fixed some broken floor joist it's all dry down there we're good now the new fireplace that will go on the garage wall is underway and the new roof will ensure there are no more water leavs I want to make this Island where we have a removable table I think that' be really cool if we could get it to link together and give you a full I know there's a way Sophia's young she wants to have people over and so I think she needs a kitchen that is open to the living room where she can really entertain have friends over but because it's tight space we want to tie in an island and a kitchen table we got to just figure out something that's hidden when you don't need it but is right there when you do and you have to make sure that the seating at the island works as seating at the table because she doesn't have place to store extra seats we'll figure it out yes we'll figure it out thanks Chris thanks in the back the roof is not only looking great but it passed inspection now we can reallocate that money to help with the standing water in the crawl space and the gas lanterns for the front of the house all right let's go figure out this bedroom plan we don't have a lot of space in here but I was thinking we do this wall a big bookshelf to the beds like this coming out and then there's bookshelves wrapping around the bed that could be cool we're adding little elements of character and she loves to read so we're going to create a bedroom fcal wall that is inspired by bookstores in England yeah we're working here at Sophia's house today and the flooring has arrived we went with a durable light colored luxury vinyl flooring that will brighten up the space the living room wall has been prepped for the new fireplace and hidden bar and the tiles being installed in the main bathroom shower it's going to be a nice contrast against the Herring bone brick floor in that space for the exterior we're going all in on the English cottage look the new siding and stone will really change the curb appeal of this home out back the new tongue and Grove ceiling has been installed and it really elevates this outdoor space Sophia's House is really coming together the brick steps are now centered on the reentered front door the siding is finishing up yes and the light green color paired with the stone gives a really soft and cohesive look to this exterior our quartz countertops are installed in the kitchen and the main bath they're looking great especially with the bead board that we added in the kitchen and the bar built-in that we have we put in place of the old garage door looks amazing and we're adding new light fixers throughout our house including the new back porch good good I can't see anything though so just try not to let me fall today is the day that I get to show off an island with a top that articulates out into a table it's amazing what 72 hours worth of work in a shop can do oh there then you just pull it out like this bam so cool it gives her lots of dining space but it also tucks away when she doesn't need it it's a perfect solution for this small kitchen Tim and I may have doubted you a little bit on this I doubted myself for a long time good job Dave Mars thank you turned out I'll take it the final push is happening here at Sophia's House outside we have the gas lanterns up and inside the walls are finally painted in such a small house I wanted to make sure all of these colors complement each other and I'm loving these rich tones throughout the home I finally found the buttery cheerful yellow was looking for in the kitchen and the floor wallpaper in the main bathroom just adds a nice feminine touch to the space we've taken some real risk to bring this English cottage to life we go perfect this looks so [Applause] [Music] good how are you I'm good this looks amazing a little bit different than it used to look feels more like you now yeah I think 100% we replaced everything starting with the new roof new siding we painted of course added the stone on these two bump outs to add symmetry we kind of reconfigured everything we centered up the front door got you a new front door and then of course have the gas lanterns cuz that feels kind of old world to me so I feel like they're just really charming and pretty I love it the new post too of course we add it we beef remember the old little like yes so we beefed those out we gave them a little bit more character it's so welcoming I cannot wait to see inside oh my goodness enjoy oh my goodness oh my [Music] gosh this is gorgeous this is amazing so you remember the old doorway opening so we closed this off and then we were able to you know Center everything up gave that space to your laundry room so you got extra room there yeah beautiful um and then obviously that giant fireplace that was in the way get that out so it opens everything up everything up yeah so now this is your focal wall with your fireplace I love it so I found this it's an old mantle oh my gosh I love this okay we have a little surprise over here goodness the garage so now you have you have your own little bar it's a little builtin this is just like a fun little space that looks great when it's open but also when it's closed then your fireplace is just the feature we also have new floors so this flooring is super durable that's awesome kitchen oh my my goodness oh my [Music] goodness this is beautiful this is so in your cottage I love it this is perfect what do you think of the color I love the color nous the color I love it it feels English PR side to me and happy and muted of course but very joyful yeah and you have the beadboard as your backsplash you kind of have that Cottage f got your two lights on either side so this whole Space just feels like it has room to breathe we have quarts running around the perimeter of the kitchen and I love the warmth that the Butcher Block adds as the countertop on the island so this wall here we did take away a lot of cabinets so we gave it back over here yeah so we have tons of this wall we got plenty of storage the one thing we were trying to figure out was how to also give you an dining table was a big challenge so Dave created this took a little do it but oh my goodness we got you your own table that is then built in oh that you can sit out have friends over relax and it doesn't take space away from the room yeah it goes Blends so well together I have more spaces you want to go check out your room yes oh my oh this is beautiful oh my goodness oh it's so cozy in here I'm never going to leave amazing that was her hope perfect to do that beautiful in the bookshelves builds the wall up that gives you a lot more storage space again has that old world feel um and the the lights I kind of wanted everything to feel very cozy and like it's been here for 100 years I love it okay go check out your bathro okay see it oh my goodness oh the floor oh my God this is beautiful oh my gosh the wallpaper too oh this oh this is gorgeous this is stunning oh I love it and we did the brick on the floor love because I love the texture and again the old world feel of it God oh I love it oh my [Music] goodness this is beautiful oh my gosh I love this isn't it nice here oh my gosh love it out here it used to be a space that really wasn't usable was that like dilapidated weird we left the ceiling but then we just resided it sof fascia new post just now a space that you can actually use oh my gosh I love it relaxing and you have indoor outdoor living now we're so excited for you we know this is your first home and you've moved back to Bonville um I know your family is excited but we are to we're happy to have you here and we hope you love it
