hello welcome to a new vlog this vlog is very very exciting because today that i film this it is the 12th of may which means charity shops and other non-essential retail shops can be open um i'm so so excited so i'm going to head off into town and go to the charity shops i'd love to go to an independent bookshop but sadly the one that's like closest to me is not in the town that i'm going to so just another excuse to go somewhere else isn't it so i'm looking forward to that on another day but yeah i'm really really excited so i'm gonna get myself ready and head off to the charity shops and i thought you could come with me because i know that although i'm going there's still lots of people that don't want to go and things so yeah i thought i'd blog and you can see and explore the shops with me so let's go [Music] [Music] i hope you enjoyed that bit of vlog footage it's actually now the next day and today i don't think i put you in the best place because it's like brighter than the sun today i know sun but i'm still absolutely freezing cold hence why i'm wearing the fleece right being a break um i'm carrying this over into two-day vlog because first of all i didn't share with you what i picked up yesterday yesterday i came home after the shops had a wonderful time if you're wondering how it was it was absolutely fine i was worried a little bit about if it's going to be really busy and if people were going to forget that we're still like doing this stuff oh my gosh that is bright um but no it's absolutely fine like the charity shops i went into there was someone on the door of every single one of them and they're monitoring the people coming in and yeah the amount of people in the shop at one time so it was all fine it was all good i was very happy and felt very comfortable and just kept my masks on kept me social distancing and it's all good right let me show you the bits and bobsies that i got i didn't go like mad i didn't get loads um but i did buy a few bits so first of all from a hospice charge shop i picked up eliza rose by lucy wesley this book to be honest is in fantastic condition it looks like it hasn't been read like beautiful book beautiful condition i just think it's stunning this book uh they had on offer two for a pound so i got this one for myself and then i saw one that i thought my dad would like which was on uh memoirs of pilots from world war one so yeah i got him that but he's taken that with him so um because he did some gardening while i was out and um yeah this book is a children's historical fiction but as you know i'm getting into my historical fiction again after having a little bit of break from it and this one is set at the court of heaven the eighth and i think it centers around yeah catherine howard so that'll be interesting and i was flicking through it and then it has the most beautiful illustrations at the start of each like part look at that isn't that beautiful yeah so really looking forward to reading that one 50p works out what a bargain then a book that i saw i saw this before lockdown didn't get it had the old buyer's regret didn't i and then thought i wonder if it's still there and it was and the book in question is flowers for mrs harris by paul gallico now i've actually already read this book this book is otherwise entitled mrs arrest goes to paris or mrs harris goes to paris some of them have the h on some of them don't because she's a londoner she's got a cockney accent so she pronounces that aris instead of harris um this is a vintage copy from 1960 and it was a four pound again from another hospice and i just thought it was so lovely and yeah i mean it's so sweet i do love vintage coffees and i mean the one that i have is nice it's part of the um broom blue blue bloomsbury group book series but yeah i thought this was super pretty couldn't pass it up and lastly the last few bits that i picked up i got from another hospice but it's quite funny because the hospice i got this from it's like a clearance hospice shop so it's like all the clearance stuff because it's got a few hospices uh shops like around our area and uh obviously it's the stuff that they can't sell but i was like oh my gosh it's super cheap and actually i find that i get better stuff from that one than i do the actual like normal retail shops and i'm like why is that the case why can i never find these goodies in the normal ones i don't know i digress but anyway i saw one two now you may be like what are these these my friends um came with harvard history magazines now when i was younger when i was like 12 i think i started collecting well where was i 11. um i think it might be in 11 yeah 11. um i started collecting the hardware histories magazines which if anyone remember the advert for it yeah it was so fun it was rick mail and i think you could still watch on youtube actually yet but i think that advert's still on there love rick now um miss him dearly he was wonderful anyway that magazine as you know i've done a video where i've shown you every single um cover because i do have all the magazines but when i moved out my parents house i took the magazines and i don't know if i took these but i can't find them anymore i don't know if they've lost got lost or whatever but they used to have these these things and then um timelines as well i don't know where the timelines are but maybe one day i'll come across it all but for seeing them in a charity shop i couldn't pass them up because for the two of these i had them for three pound i think and inside they come with like all the gubbins still which is like essentially like collection collecting cards and stuff i haven't been able to like go through them all and stuff but they're ones that like look like this so they're what they call like not holographic is it holographic i can't think of the way this but oh my god open this one but they're just so much fun i mean look at this this is a glow-in-the-dark one so in the dark like amberlynn's head close in the dark but yeah just so much fun this is good as well i it's so ridiculous but on the back they've got like do you know facts and then like a quick quiz as well which is fun so yeah i'm really happy to have these back in my collection again and i'm going to go through all those cards because they just look like such fun and then my last purchase bit of vintage for you i can't believe i spotted these actually because i was by the tail waiting and there was this woman in front of me and she had like packs of shirts like they were new packs of shirts i've obviously boxer being donated and she's like have you got this size for my husband have you got this size my son and like she just basically he had to get the box out and go through all these packets to make sure that he got the right sizes that she wanted and while i was waiting um at the tail was this like trinket um bosch dish and inside was jewelry and i saw these now these are blue danglies it definitely don't go with what i'm wearing today but i as soon as i saw them i knew they were vintage i would say they're probably from like 1930s uh sort of thing they're just really really nice actually and and actually quite unusual to anything else that i have i when i think of like the lots of things i pick up from the 1930s they're all really really long stuff and it's nice to have some shorter bits as well but yeah i just thought they were so much fun for a pound i couldn't pass them up so yeah not a big haul but those are the bits and bobs that i picked up when i went shopping and for anyone that wants content of the pup here he is i hope you have a lovely day i hope you've had a lovely day perhaps and i shall see you soon next video bye for now
