Ceres development left unfinished, abandoned for two years

development deserted a housing project in series sitting empty for 2 years even though some of the homes are nearly done so what's the holdup lot to get to tonight thanks for joining us for the news at 5 I'm Tony Lopez and I'm Marley gter show you where this is those 40 homes sit off east of Whitmore Avenue in series your reporter estabon Roso is live for us getting answers on What the city's doing to get things moving again as Devon well yeah hey there guys the developer who started this project of 40 single family homes has abandoned it they left it that's what that's according to the city now a council woman Rosal Linda Vieira she tells me that she's in charge of this District but also that it's more than just the developer abandoning this project there's more problems here come in see all the mold homes abandoned in the middle of series trying to get someone to at least finish these homes or redo the homes that are not that have been sitting vacant for 3 years Siri city councilwoman Rose Linda Vieira has served District 2 for almost 2 years now she says the Housing Development Tuscany Village on Whitmore Avenue lost its developer and now is an ey sore it's coming down to the funding the bank pulled the loans now developers developer wasn't able to retrieve the loans that developer CBS 13 learned is C homes Vieira says the developer slowly moved away from the project about a year ago before completely abandoning it Builder lost stop construction the contractor lost that's when we started seeing some of the Waters people were moving in she says homeless people took advantage and broke in and started Living inside the homes empty shampoo bottles and clothes still here from their stay copper wires stripped from homes and water heaters installed by the developer gone and that's when we finally said I said that was enough Vieira took her concerns to code enforcement and they showed up earlier this may clearing the village time for change like this isn't acceptable we need to provide options but options for the village are running short without an investor the 40 sit empty some with homes almost completed that's 90% of the work the rest is just building the home so it's just a matter of getting someone who wants to do the last final steps now we reached out to that developer today they did not get back to us at all and we also reached out to code enforcement here with the city of series they said that they were unavailable for comment this Friday however you may be looking for some sort of bride spot right guys so after we our interview with the councilwoman she told me that she had a phone call from a potential investor so hopefully cross our fingers that things get a little bit better out here guys
