If you have nice clay in your area, you have nice clay. Yes this is possible.

In certain parts, clay is clay.

I can do this (or the modern equivalent) with clay I find. Though to the best Iโ€™ve seen, all of the clay in my area is super red (Maui). For me the trick is finding clumps that nature has already made for ya. Notice at the beginning he was bein pretty particular about which clumps he was grabbing. Vs later when building the kiln he was using yellow clay that he previously discarded for the pots. This was a badass video, thanks for sharing ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ

To make cooking in the kitchen easier and better, I decided to find clay to make cooking utensils. Next to the streams is where I have found very good clay to make pottery The gray and white part is the clay we can use, but right now it's mixed with other impurities. Most pure clay will lie deeper than other soils. We can identify the clay part by squeezing and pressing the gray-white parts, which will be smoother, more sticky than other types of soil. This is the best clay I can find. I hope it will not disappoint me This is the least impurity clay part, which can be considered a pure clay if evaluated relatively Perform the kneading and molding to check the soil's fineness, stickiness and ductility If the soil is good, it will stick to mass when kneading and firmly grasping our hands Check the wheel and fix it if necessary, the wheel should rotate evenly, round, the top surface must be flat, then we can create beautiful and quality products. Choose pure, terracotta pieces to use. In the absence of this, I will treat the soil containing impurities as you see. The soil after kneading and shaping, I will take it immediately Put the soil in the middle of the wheel Turn around so we can turn it into the shape we want Note that in order for the product to be glossy, our hands must be always wet Take advantage of all your fingers Attach more soil on both sides to create grip Take the small wire to cut, separate the pot from the wheel Once completed, proceed to drying Important note during the drying process: Leave the ceramic exposed to the sun for about a week or until completely dry and feel warm to the touch. Choose the right location to build the best kiln The position of ceramics chimney position Take steps to facilitate travel Location of the fire Treat soil so that it is loose and sticky to use as a chimney construction material Build a chimney. Chimney height depends on the desired temperature needs. To succeed in firing pottery, I need to build a chimney at least 2m-3m high with a temperature of 800-1200 degrees Celsius. Build oven doors to set fire locations Prepare firewood for firing pottery At least 2 cubic meters of firewood is needed to make pottery The furnace must be thoroughly burned before introducing ceramics for firing Pottery is dried to the initial standard Gently put them into the ceramic kiln Simmer low heat, to heat the pottery as slowly as possible. Avoid the case of heat shock (rapid fire will lead to thermal shock and ceramic breakage) Cover the lid Burn it for at least 6 hours After 6 hours of firing, ignite a large flame to bring the furnace temperature to the highest possible level Fire must be sustained, if interrupted, the job will not succeed 2 hours after the temperature is raised, the pottery is being red-fired at the highest temperature of about 1000 degrees Celsius Check the furnace and seal for cracks Continue heating for about 12 hours, then cover the furnace and the tube to continue incubation The oven must be sealed and tempered for the next 24 hours. The goal is to slowly reduce the temperature in the kiln, so that the ceramic does not suffer from thermal shock After 24 hours of incubation The first cup is successfully heated Unfortunately, a pot has a crack The result is not bad, right An intact pot, without any cracks This pot has cracks. In my opinion some of the reasons for cracking are due to large openings, the temperature decreases rapidly during incubation Perfect cup and cup. Sounds very resounding and extremely solid.
