I really don't understand why people feel the need to defend the indefensible Rey is easily the worst least Star Wars character ever to hit this / screen and that's because as the leech he does nothing to earn the status she's given instead of learning about the force through trial and error instead of making costly mistakes instead of having to prove herself Rey is just giving everything she gets the force she gets Anakin's lightsaber she gets the manhandle a new villain twice in the same movie just to use all the cool force powers without training it's the best Luke Skywalker a Jedi Master in combat gets to never be tempted by the force even when she goes right to it and gets to keep all our limbs there's nothing that makes Rey interesting or unique she's simply a Mary Sue but the woke left just have to defend this character I mean they don't not really if they had any desire for good not great just good storytelling they'd have to admit the characters completely overpowered for what appears to be politically motivated reasons ie she's got the vagina but the left just has to deal in their heels and then talk [ __ ] as they do like this article from Comic Book Resources titled rise of Skywalker prequel Cruz Rey is a better Jedi than Anakin or Luke excuse me while I go and get my steel toe boots [Music] CBR if you're not pushing the whole square term in is gay I mean by because I said so narrative or posting trivia list where people who just discovered comics last Tuesday explained to comic book fans [ __ ] they've known for two decades then you're defending an uber MarySue from the article written by a guy who apparently hates Star Wars quote one of the most divisive points of the new Star Wars era is raised depiction as a powerful Jedi in the force awakens we saw her wielding a lightsaber and fighting off the ruthless and seasoned killer kylo Ren without training she also used the mental powers of the force as if she were pretty much an expert this led to haters stupidly calling her a Mary Sue when it's clear she's just as much of a chosen one as Anakin Skywalker was first of all obviously you don't know what Mary Sue or chosen one means allow me to mansplain according to TV tropes a Mary Sue is quote exceptionally talented in the implausibly wide variety of areas and may possess skills that are rare or non-existent in a canon setting she also lacks any realistic or at least story-related character flaws either that or her flaws are obviously meant to be endearing so here we have a raid someone who didn't know she had the force for 19 years of her life finds how she has it and within hours uses a lightsaber a weapon she's never used before to manhandle a seasoned lightsaber wielder with zero training and quote used the mental powers of the force as issue were pretty much an expert yeah that's pretty much the definition of a Mary Sue for the chosen one quote these characters have been chosen by some force and they're now the only ones capable of resolving the plot well that's not ray because no one knows who she is in the course awakens everyone's looking for Luke Skywalker in the last Jedi they're [ __ ] around no one thinks Rey is a savior no one even suggests she is she's special but not the world will end if not for you special don't be mad because people called out the shitty character development shitty character development kinda comes with pain fiction speaking of which quote a marvelous journey to Star Wars the rise of Skywalker Allegiance however we're seeing truth and it has nothing to do with luck reason a fluke or simply given power boost for a mere plot convenience she really and truly is a better Jedi than Anakin or for that matter Luke Skywalker ever were at this stage in both their careers um no there was maybe a week between the force awakens in the last Jedi there's one year between the last Jedi in the rise of Skywalker that will put Rey at Luke's level a year before the Empire Strikes Back and in Anakin's level a year after the Phantom Menace Anakin would have had legit Jedi training for a year so even at 10 or 11 years old he'd have been a better trained Jedi than Luke or Rey Luke basically had to go on what little ob1 taught him on the Falcon before he died so he's figuring things out on his own the films don't touch on Luke's training during that time but the expanding universe books do and he manages to do quite a bit with only a little training Rey on the other hand didn't receive any direct training that [ __ ] that Luke did on the clip doesn't count and it's only what 10 minutes long anyway so for a raise you figure out how to use Jedi Mind Tricks horse pushes a levitation and learn the lightsaber without any actual training makes zero sense in context it looks like she's overpowered for mere plot convenience it's even worse when you make all three of them the same age Luke would be training with Yoda at that time and Anakin would be facing off against asajj ventress at that point the most competent of them is Anakin he's had a decade of premiere Jedi training at the main temple he's skilled enough in the force that he gets visions of his mother's plight and he's skilled enough in sword fighting that he lasted longer against accountant Dooku then obi-wan Kenobi and he defeated Assize of interest like john boyega's said if these three gun to apply ii anakin would be ray and Luke with little effort at the same time he knows more about the force than either of them held the children I mean younglings Yoda was training knew more about the force in Rey or Luke Rey is overpowered get off it oh but Kathleen Kennedy's like he won't be deterred quote we must remember Luke had a mentor to start him off on Tatooine and obi-wan Kenobi who ironically mentored Anakin along with qui-gon jinn in the Phantom in so he had more training than right in fact Anakin had an entire Jedi Council overseeing things one he could rely on if need be even after qui-gon jinn died so he had more training than Rey asked for Luke as he progressed he also had Master Yoda too trained on the swamp planet Dagobah continuing the cycle of masters and apprentices so he had more training than Rey are you starting to see a [ __ ] pattern both Luke and Anakin had more training in the Jedi arts and Rey at the same time at their Lodge and it can had half a lifetime of training you admit this you're disproving your own argument so what the [ __ ] is your point in other words but the Skywalker soldiers got hands-on advicing experts to show them the way at various stages in their Jedi life ray doesn't have this luxury which is what makes her meteoric rise all the more impressive no it doesn't it just shows that the writers did a terrible job of writing because it defies all logic within the context of the story look at it like this Anakin is born from the force if anyone should have instant access to the horse powers it would be someone willed into existence by the force but he doesn't qui-gon jinn senses Anakin's power but the boy still needs to be trained in order to use it if we were following Mary races rules Anakin with a Jedi Mind tricked his way out of slavery before obi-wan in qui-gon jinn ever showed up better yet Luke should have been using the Force like madness because he has such a passion to want to leave Tatooine and emotions are an easy way to darkside powers but that doesn't happen it seems like it needs some training to learn how to use the Force properly and this is shown repeatedly in expanding universe novels and comics and in the films and TV shows just having the force is not enough to do what ray does you need years of training and even then it doesn't mean it'll come easy Luke trains on his own after obi-wan dies and at the beginning of Empire he can still barely pull the lightsaber to him using the force so somehow the guy whose dad was born of the force can't do a horse pool without concentrating even after a year of training but some desert skank with zero training in forceful a lightsaber all way from another horse user two hours after she learned she had the force oh but she's not a Mary Sue yeah sure but what's this [ __ ] in the marble come quote in the comic prequel in December's the rise of Skywalker from Ethan Saxon Co we're seeing Rey fighting with horse sense of the monsters in training going on scavenging missions unsupervised battling killer droids and using weapons in a way we didn't see his Skywalker's doing all these shapes are until one woman army at times yeah so again mad writing he makes no sense for her to be as powerful and controlled as she is with no training or knowledge of the force it's ridiculous almost like someone decided to make her exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas and have her possess skills that are rare or non-existent in the Canon setting you know I'm Aries too so then we get to see what Ray's doing and it's just not that impressive oh she used the force of spent of staff and forth push somebody yeah five-year-old Jedi Padawan can do that but I love how the author tries to justify this quote she's not even leaning on Leah's knowledge of the force as much as she simply harnesses the brief lessons Luke taught her in the last Jedi what lessons he tickled her hand with a leaf he didn't teach a [ __ ] just some stuff about reaching out with the force that's it and from that ten-minute exchange she somehow suddenly knows how to control the force enough to become neo from the matrix reloaded it shows how intelligent she is and that no learning curves too steep for her again that's the definition of a Mary Sue but keep trying to claim otherwise you're doing a great job of still [ __ ] your own argument and now we get to the obligatory reach-around quote in fact all she has a sacred Jedi text from octo which means without translators or a curator to guide her her feats and progression are all the more impressive so she's figured out how the studied the teachings of text she can't read what do you do what do you do with this it's just proof positive that Rey is the biggest Mary soot who ever exists she's doing [ __ ] no one literally no one in any Star Wars book game comic movie misho has ever done and all without a lick of actual training like the author says she's quote developing so quickly by simply deciphering the ancient books compared to Luke and his debt who took time to steadily move up the ladder so they had to earn their power and skill by training while ray gets to be powerful because vagina how is she not a Mary Sue I'm still looking for crow she's not and everything you keep showing me keeps proving she's too silver Gokaiger of Mary Sue's just every six Ranger this just ruins the Star Wars legacy ruins the very purpose of Anakin and Luke as archetypes the whole point of their training is to test them and to show their character both of them fail and both Bale by doing what they consider to be the right thing saving the ones they love Luke learns from his failure when faced with losing his friends again he doesn't just rush in like before he plans he thinks he loses control in his final fight with Vader but gets it back Anakin though makes the same choices before save his woman and ends up turning to the dark side as a result what challenge does Rey face what tough decision is put in front of her both Anakin Luke find out that the people they trusted most lie to and mislead them where does this happen to Ray both Anakin and Luke lose a limb for the arrogance what does Rey lose most Luke and Anakin are haunted by their choices changed forever by what they witnessed driven to become better Jedi so the same things won't happen again where does Rey experience those things instead of having to work for our power and see what she must sacrifice in order to obtain it she's had it all along and quote the fact the lay is letting her do things on her own sums it up she trusts Rey and no she's a talent the likes of which the galaxy has never seen before but there's no talent they're just lazy writing you've got a character who never has to work and get anything all the right people love her even their enemies at least want her you're basically applauding a princess for being a princess no there's no achievement there there's no heroism there and that's why people hate we're a suit but what do I know I'm just some guy
