[Music] hello and welcome to this week's video it's going to be a fun one because I am all about saving you time and saving you money before I start you may notice Audrey behind me funny story so the TV station where I work is being demolished we have built a new station directly behind us and so in the process they're getting rid of things they've asked us to clean out our stuff and if there are any things around the old building that you're interested in to go ahead and grab it so anyway this lovely portrait was in the women's restroom and I always loved it so I went in I grabbed it and I brought it to my desk and I was so excited to take it home and one of the guys at the station said is that you silly it's Audrey Audrey Hepburn it she's the epitome of class and style and sophistication and she is sort of the embodiment of what I try to bring to the channel so I thought it might be very fitting to have her behind us to channel Audrey Hepburn if you like her let me know and I'll keep her but I think she's very precious and I love her and any old-school Hollywood movie that I can watch I will because I just think they are amazing from yesteryear that's just my personal taste okay so today's video is a technique to help you with your eye makeup eye makeup I would have to say takes the most amount of time to do because you are carefully applying you're building you're blending and there's a lot of debris that can fall down below and we're trying to get the right angles and lines well ladies have no fear because scotch tape is here this is going to be your best friend when it comes to applying eye makeup it's going to make it so much faster it's going to simplify your routine and when you remove the tape you will find the flawless line that you have created and I honestly believe that you will be so thrilled with this technique you will use it all the time whether you're trying to create something precise or just trying to speed things up so I'm going to push in let's get real tight and start the eye makeup process for you okay so here we are bear face except for foundation and eyebrows that have been slightly filled in to do this technique I'm going to use the eye shadows from this in this particular kit it's Urban Decay Naked ultimate basics and I will use a variety of these but they are a nice blend of neutrals and in between and matte and I think these are colors that work well for the ladies who watch this channel and first and foremost I'm starting off with scotch tape so here's what you do take a little bit you don't need a lot I say about this much okay and we're going to find that angle that cuts from the outer corner of the eye to the eye brown and you're going to take the tape and very smoothly apply it from the outer corner of the eye close to the outer corner of your eyebrow this is going to create that line and it's also going to catch anything that should fall below do the same on the other side and try your best to match it you don't want one tape angling straight while the other one goes up you want to have symmetry so again look in your mirror check your angle and place your tape okay so once your tape has been applied and some of us have longer brows some have shorter brows so again you want a natural a natural line you may be going close to the end of your brow you may be going just a little bit below it but again symmetry here is key now having this tape is really going to make it quick for you because you're not going to be so worried about making that perfect angle that perfect little triangle on the outside of the eye you get to have a little more fudge room so I will start with the light color in my eye shadow kit starting with the bottom left this is sort of a looks almost like a French vanilla color and I'm going to apply that right here under my brow and on the inner corner of my eye kind of a wash of just a light color a light base I have applied some foundation to my eye I'm still using the Marc Jacobs remarkable foundation I love it and I put a little bit on my foundation brush and I sweep it over my eyelid I find that it's a a wonderful base for my eyeshadow it's a matte foundation so it prevents grease and shine from the lid which also keeps your color intact so now I'm going to move on to my lid color and I will sort of stay in the brown category I'm going to do the one next to the rust and a little bit on my brush here and I'm going to take it and just sort of Pat it and press it into my lid like so and work my way up don't worry if things look a little harsh at first the magical blending brush will come into play very quickly here same thing on the other side my makeup mirror a little closer okay and I'm going up as you can see and I've mentioned this many a time on this channel I take my medium shade a little higher this opens the eye this is a really important technique if you feel that your eyelids are getting a little heavy starting to get that hooded eye you want to carry the deeper color that medium higher to create a higher recess that opens up the eye and then I'm now going to take my blending brush and I'm going to work this rust color a little bit above and out toward the corner and I like to layer my colors you can create a neat effect by doing so sometimes one color isn't enough you need a multitude just to get the right shading so now here's the beauty of the tape right so I'm taking my blending brush I'm going in a circular motion and I'm just whisking and I don't care if it touches the tape because it's catching any leftover debris caught on tape the newswoman and me comes out again swirling in the corner working toward the outside going a little bit above blending a little bit of the rust up top here with the brown and just blend blend blend next up I'm going to take a smaller brush I like this plum color up here top the top left if you can see top left plum all my brushes are by Gentry Kelly used to make up artist and now this one is going to go a little bit tighter in the outer corner just sort of blocking it in again working in a bit of a circular motion just on the outer corner not going too high with this one same thing on the other side there we go see that now blocks in gives you a little bit of depth on the outside I will now take my brush with the light color again to sweep this right here underneath my brow blending any colors any lines pulling it all together that's the key pulling all together you won't believe how fast this is all right next up I'm using a flat brush the black eye shadow I'm going to block this in now in my lashline going from the underside and just pushing up into the lashes you don't want to go too high with your with your liner whether you use a pencil or a shadow because you still want to see the eye shadow on the top okay I'm just locking it in I'm going to keep everything up and not focus on the lower lid I find it's a more youthful look that way brings the eye up this is a great look for daytime and now it is mascara time camera time some of you know who I'm talking about all right and we go just the upper lash line and we are almost done okay and now comes the fun part we get to remove the tape and reveal what has happened ready one side but and grab it it takes my tapes done good and there we go as you can see a nice clean smooth line to soften that you take your wide brush that had the very light powder on it and you just go in a circular motion right under here just to make that a little bit softer but again you can't get more precise than that there's no way that you can create that kind of precision with a steady hand and now from this point take your concealer made that for less there's really nothing to clean up but I like to do my concealer is my last thing when it comes to eye makeup taking my brush patting it in pulling it down and then following right under that pretty line that we just made as always I will list every product used in the description box there will be no surprises here I'll also know your product that I promised okay after concealer is applied and you get to set it all with your powder and there you go how quick and easy was that let me finish up the makeup look and you'll see the full face and there you have it this makeup job took no time at all you could clearly see how easy it was manipulating the eyeshadow powders and blending without the worry of what's going to fall beneath and once you remove the tape it will amaze you and surprise you as to what a talented makeup artist you are how precise you are it's amazing what a difference a little bit of help can do comment suggestions ideas you name it list it I love to hear from you now that I think about it Easter is around the corner and you know what that means a little Easter Bunny giveaway is coming that I promise because I think there are so many wonderful spring things out there that I would love to share with you so please stay tuned for that and anything else you need and want to see here I hope this saved you some time I hope it gave you an idea to apply your makeup with less stress less worry and I can't wait to hear what you think about the technique please let me know below as well as what else you want to see from me on this channel and if you want Audrey to
