Catching Monster Crawfish in Home Made Bamboo Traps (Catch Clean & Cook)

what's up everybody blue gabe day number three in jamaica that is omar right there and behind him is boom boom like the boom boom room except for just boom boom over here is nicholas we're actually walking down to this beautiful river just like the one that i caught the crawfish in the first time i was here except for this one they do awesome like bamboo raft tours down it and we're here as you can see to catch crawfish we're going to set the traps tonight overnight with some barracuda that we caught at the dock i caught one and then omar caught one on a dang yo yo a hand line he had to show me up i caught mine with the old salty he caught his with a yo-yo so we actually have them for bait and nicholas said that these crawfish actually like dried coconut so i think we're gonna use a little bit of both we're here just walked up i didn't realize it was right over the hill you guys i've only been here for two and a half days and boom boom omar and nicholas has kept me laughing this entire trip like literally the funniest guys ever and i'm so glad they're part of this awesome adventure so if you're new to the channel these are my crawfish traps they actually open up and there's a spot to put bait in them and we're gonna set them right down the river in different locations so this morning we went out right off the beach near the airbnb we're staying at and film the snail video which hopefully you've already watched it if you haven't stop this video right now and go back and watch the snail video because you need to watch them in order actually the first video i did was the one where i ate the hog tongue then the snail video now the one you're watching so i'm actually learning as we go our guide here said that when you roast these the crabs actually like them more so he's starting to fire and we're gonna put them on there what is it about the fire that they like all right now you know that when you coconut can be used for like candy because you can grate or you can blend get it refined with some brown sugar ginger and you get it on an pin for you and cook it for a little while once it you take it off you put it on something cool it stay together with whatever amount you put on so if you put one spoon just like one spoon in a clump yeah it's like it merge and stay together like a candy so when you roast it now the scent that it it gives it attracts the fish so like the crawfish will love it okay i bring up the flavor can i eat some yeah okay yeah we eat it too it sounds good no problem yeah man it's ready so smiley just made my day even better he actually said that a mile from here he has some traps that he actually wove out of what bamboo yeah out of bamboo himself so we're gonna set my traps right here with this fire roasted coconut then we're gonna go get his traps get the crawfish that are in them out and then reset his and tomorrow morning pull all of them again and hopefully we have a big mess for dinner why they call you smiley i get like that name from our smug yeah because i used to love to smile you know yeah there ain't nothing wrong with smiling no there's foreign just putting it on the open fire yeah how long you been catching crawfish ah well several 15 years yeah one time i do nothing else but not to survive you know hey that's a good way to survive if you got nothing else so i never give up because i remember when i survived after that alone so i i don't know what life can where life can take you so you don't give up on the stuff you do that's exactly right yeah so be persistent and continue what a lot of y'all don't know about me is i came from a construction background but i have done everything from commercial kingfishing to catching soft shell turtles for money catching lobster frogs i've done everything i actually bought my first vehicle back in 1998 by catching wild hogs alive and selling them to people that wanted live wild hogs to eat i'd sell them for fifty dollars a piece so like he just said you never know where life's gonna take you but don't be scared of the next adventure i wish y'all could smell that wild fire roasted coconut so when you started catching crawfish for money who were you selling them to all right both are bulma people in here and in the toenails what kind of people all right all right my village people village people i just like say once once you start and everyone know about it sometime you don't have to go home people start to come come how's your favorite way to cook them uh favorite way to cook crawfish for me is you know pre-cooked strip and curry yeah while we're over here talking about crawfish boom boom's over there i don't even know what he's doing to import trees he's over there showing his jamaican machete skills this is so crazy because i thought we were just going to come down to a river i was going to put out my five traps like we did the last time i didn't know what we were getting into now we've got four good amazing new friends including spot smiley and we're gonna go do some crazy stuff like didn't even expect this now we just went down below here and set one trap we took some barracuda that i obviously caught at the dock earlier and we took some roasted coconut put it in the trap walked right down there like literally right below us found a little bit deeper of an area out of the main current set that trap and we're gonna go do five more of my traps and all of his traps and then we'll see you back here tomorrow morning kelly and lauren are out spear fishing right now but they'll be back with me in the morning and we'll pull all these traps and hopefully cook some amazing crawfish y'all thanks for watching all my videos and thanks for all the support i'm so glad y'all are here and i will see you in little pit stop at the coffee shop now that we can take our mask off we can properly enjoy our cafe blue coffee it's actually pretty good not bad i got a caramel iced coffee with a splash of cream yours is just iced coffee with a special cream now we can go pull crawfish traps and just like that we're back check out my main man omar omar we're supposed to be going on the raft not eating i gotta put something to belly first before i go on the raft you guys i can't tell you how excited i am to get omar and boom boom to florida with me we're actually gonna write them a letter so they can get a visa and come to florida and go hog hunting with us and lobstering and all the things that they've never been able to do here in jamaica because these jungles are so thick i'm taking these two to mr trevor's ranch to go hog hunting on the swamp buggy with shotguns and all kinds of shenanigans we also have a new surprise celebrity guest one of our biggest fans here in jamaica i met her last night while me and omar were getting some chicken in the square waiting on boom boom to bring the van of course we got nicholas who lives right up the hill an amazing looking house in the top of the most beautiful hill ever the girls are all coffeed up we're glad y'all could have joined us first though before we get on these awesome rafts so today's gonna be a little bit different let me tell you what we're gonna do we're gonna jump on these two rafts with smiley who you saw yesterday and one of his buddies and we're gonna go down the river pulling all the traps that we set yesterday but we do have one that's right here that we can go to by foot so we're gonna pull the first one and then we're gonna put all the crawfish out of each trap in a bucket and take them back to the beach in montego bay where we're staying and cook crawfish on the most amazing looking beach ever and y'all are coming along shotgun do we have any though no so one thing one thing that smiley told us yesterday is crawfish on a full moon don't get out and move much because they're in a molting process we do have one cool looking thing though oh that's a shrimp look at this dude how often do you see shrimp crawl on you like a bug yeah right it was buggy i had super high hopes for this trap i thought for sure it was gonna be full dang i can't believe there's nothing in there so one thing i decided yesterday i'm gonna give smiley all these traps because he works on this river and he gives these crawfish all the natives around here this is an awesome little community slash village i guess you would call it full of amazing people so each trap we pull we're going to put right back they still have bait in them yeah but now it's time to get on these rafts now how do people find this area what's the name of this little place to where they can come and get on the rafts with you all right now this little place is called litty it's on the border between anova and saint james it's the great river yeah bumble after all right let me explain something these dudes can how long is that raft about 25 feet 30 feet yeah he can go down these rapids oh my god i don't know how he does it i can't control my two motor boat like you guys control that raft so with no further ado let's load up and get this party started all right we're about to head off this is myself and lauren's first time on the raft came down here yesterday you guys yesterday the only so yesterday i actually caught a bunch by hand and we pulled some of the traps that were set the night before so we've actually got a good mess of these crawfish to cook but today to make sure we have a good amount i'm going to try my hardest to actually catch some and let kelly do most of the talking until we get down to where we're stopping babe there's a lot of weight in the back of this thing yeah wait t see these rapids i went down on my butt yesterday and it hurt oh my gosh all right smiley ready we're ready so last time blue gabe and myself were here we actually saw these rafts and we never got the chance to actually go on them so i'm happy that we're experiencing it now so pretty i think i guess it was someone's birthday earlier because you see this that's what i caught a big one yesterday in the middle of the day too oh it's so pretty fixing a bale ship first one right here oh yeah yeah the first one right there oh boy if i fall on this thing it's actually pretty sturdy yeah that's why we use one purple sticks you know yes there's a big one just outside of the trap but not in it yet i'm gonna try to catch him catch him as you would tell redneck go kiss him go get you go catch him gabriel gosh he's 100 did that on purpose he got a small one in his hand [Applause] all right you have to come in here close grab our bucket boo look at this giant thing lauren kill reaching out now oh a big prawn look at that yeah we actually have these smiley at our house in a canal right behind or a creek right behind my house damn that's a big one it though that's crazy one more in here oh yeah one more [Applause] are they tiger prawns i think that's what we call them no no hey hey hey hey don't be making a sink over here that's boy that's nick all right let's keep going next one you'll remember where these are at yeah that's cool [Music] i am so impressed with these bamboo wraps i kind of want to make one for back home i don't know where we would use it but this thing is sturdy it's not really slippery either unless they scrub them but i like it i'm digging it all right trap number two raheel oh boy wait do you see this i like the size of that kid oh god this is the biggest one i've ever seen it must be a massive one because we caught a pretty big one last year i ain't even risking opening the trap oh okay a little bit more that's as far as the string won't come anymore it's so hard to walk with long kids on you guys look at this thing this one right here oh yes can i eat that one look at that i'd love to see a few bites let me see your pinky toe [Applause] this was a good one yeah all the rocks around here the same coconut barracuda coconut coconut barracuda coconut yeah interesting one more moss all right on to the next oh my god this is the biggest crawfish look at that massive i don't even want to take them out of the bucket because i'm supposed to drop them so just the thing blue gabe was doing this yesterday and myself and lauren we're under the water and a jamaican reef about shoulder deep in a hole catching big old channel crabs aka king krem that's what the jamaicans call them oh this is the fast look how fast we're going we're heated rock we hit a rock the question is who's going to fall first oh my god push you [Music] the only way i can go down the rapids is on my butt we got trap number three laying right here i like i'm liking this spot because you have that rough water right there and then it kind of comes out and slows down you got a big rock structure right here i just hit bottom beached whale there's a huge one in there a baby lobster like a cup of shrimp in here a jamaican lobster those wrap is right there we're serious on my butt nice one good one that's almost as big as the other one oh i cannot wait to eat these i'm so excited i don't want to break his clothes [Music] look at the shrimp did you just fall in here [Applause] you eat this shrimp you can get any longer like up to a pound yeah and see these guys will go fishing in the ocean they will come bite from you all right let's roll is there another one in the middle of coffee yeah oh yeah onomas right over here do up the weight to hold the trap in place so the current doesn't pick it up oh look right here [Music] that was a bonus catch we got a really cool one in here too that we saw the last time that i hadn't seen yet this trip right here check this dude out a popeye shrimp yeah oh yeah if you want to feel what getting bit is about stick your finger in that dude [Applause] on to the next or this is yeah is this all of mine yeah you want me to leave this one here put it somewhere else no leave it there okay now what happened we didn't go in last night going tonight yeah yeah let's swim around come up steer close till because the first year sometime at the spot you may not catch any you think it's a bad spot but leave it like for two more days oh yeah we're about to go over another little rough spot fast spot so i'm securing the bucket we can't afford to lose these hey how come we couldn't go on the fast side there's like it's like a lane look at that that's like the ripped rafting side and this is the smoother side i don't want to get my butt wet whoa dang oh boy oh my gosh that was incredible work there that was the smoothest three-point turn i think i've ever witnessed well i just had to go back because nicholas accidentally dropped the gopro clip in a raging river and i happened to find it but i found something else really cool too we just got some cool stuff too limestone limestone and flint rocks i'm seriously gonna need a limestone butt rub how bad my butts hurt listen we can make fire with these here stand up don't you dare stand up i'm gonna put it right here no look oh what is that thing i thought you were trying to oh that's a silk fish a salt fish look at this little suction cup lukey with jake would love that i know that's such a unique looking fish it's a predator i guess because it's got a big mouth so it eats minnows or whatever yeah sort of like any of our scorpion fish let me introduce y'all your first jamaican suck fish he's along for the ride all right we're almost to smiley's bamboo traps so we decided to stop and take a little break we got smiley and his partner sitting here lauren just jumped in the water nicholas is in the water and you guys leave a comment below this is a serious topic i'm about to bring up you see omar he's big muscular the most amazing nicest human ever he does not know how to swim and kelly and i want to teach him how to swim leave a comment below and tell omar that if he comes to florida he has to let us teach him how to swim deal babe deal now i know what the comments are going to say you got anything you want to say um i guess one day i have to learn to swim so if he's there then i have to learn that's right smiley you know how to swim good he's on the river like a fish what is this like just a cool place where you all stop and hang yeah cook have a drink look at sierra she's over there trying to be like blue gabe and catch crawfish you find one we got lauren nicholas nicholas how happy are you i found that clip pretty happy so we've now pulled all of my traps which are the cloth traps and the rest of the traps that we have to pull are all bamboo and they are the most amazing traps ever i've already seen them i dove with them yesterday when we re-baited them i'm super excited for that no no water so we're gonna just chill for five minutes and then go pull the rest of the traps this is the sixth trap and this is a very unique trap it's jamaican made bamboo you can see it in the water right there blue gabe is swimming up behind us i'm so interested to see what this trap looks like all right y'all we're getting ready to have the first jamaican drag race down this river we got two two guys equal horsepower and we're fitting to see who can go the fastest come on cap give her a gallon the only bad thing is there's only one lane of traffic so it's gonna be hard to pass there's worse ways to spend a day in there huh there's worse ways to spend the day isn't there yeah this is the best day ever yeah rafting under under under on the great river up by leafy [Applause] you all cheated you had a head start lauren you're still the only one wet you gotta jump in and get this trap oh he's already got it this isn't his first rodeo that we put in yesterday again the barracuda did his trick yeah yeah yeah yeah we're getting the bag cause the bucket has the eel in it oh i hate reaching my hand in there it is full did you just bring that out with it hooked to your finger a hole in here oh okay we're doing good babe we got some crawl fish for dinner we'll see were just sitting in the back talking and relaxing so she's bigger no there's two in there that are bigger all right this is a good way to get bit sacrifice the fingers we make the hole bigger [Music] that's a chunk of it that's a chunk of the needle fish that we caught invaded the traps with i did not want to drop this guy yeah shake it one time yeah bigger yeah oh he's gonna get him he's gonna get he's gonna get me look at these monstrosities it's cool because we only had one of these deep the last time we were here now we got a whole handful that's that one more trap to go boom boom is already down there waiting on the bank for us what happened it's big yeah let's see nothing there's a couple small ones when you're dry and that water gets close to you you know what it's cold yeah oh no those were dead ones oh no there's a bait there's one look at the little guy do i throw him back or keep him yeah throw both of them back all right just for just for good sakes we're releasing yeah the last two of the day for good luck all right i c i could literally film everything we're about to do the ride home and everything and y'all would enjoy it but we're also on vacation too so we're gonna put these cameras away and enjoy the next couple hours we will see y'all back at the beach where we're gonna throw it down jamaican style huge shout out smiley you guys these guys here in jamaica work harder than most people i've ever met and because of us they're able to have a living here on the river covid's almost completely bankrupt jamaica especially the tourism it's so safe to come here you guys take a kova test get on a plane and come to jamaica it is well worth it everything we've done thus far people like him they're so nice it's insane obviously we're back at the house and this is how this is gonna go down these are some of the crawfish that i caught yesterday while we were setting the traps when i was actually in the water swimming just take the top like this throw it over there take the just teeny bit of the guts out couple the gills out it's ready to go on the grill look at that i mean just look at that mack daddy right there lauren actually caught a monstrosity one of these huge ones by hand and i caught a big one by hand we caught a couple in the trap they're actually hard to clean you gotta like really squeeze down so what over there do you remember how to get the poop vein out yep i'm about to show y'all i'm glad you reminded me because i wouldn't remember oh raj actually taught us this trick so right here see this right here come in here just like so break it loose just a little bit come on this one's so big yeah sometimes it was a little tricky now this big humongous this is their i'm looking around because i think somebody's in here this is actually jamaica's native shrimp same thing squeeze the top out get the guts out pop the gills off and you're ready to eat so obviously i got to clean all these kelly caught this monstrosity like real monstrosity of a spider crab yesterday we're putting all this in the pot together and the rest of the snails that we cooked in our last video and just like that mr trevor has whipped us up a masterpiece so this is david he's who set up the entire trip locked and loaded on youtube this is mr trevor who's pretty much cooked for us the entire time and a whole bunch of locals young's big crab we got lauren behind the camera it's been a blessing for her to be on this trip because kelly's always stuck with just men in this trip she's been able to go to coffee i have a coffee buddy yeah she's got a coffee buddy so here's my nine inch deco that's my big knife with blue gabi engraved in the side that i brought for david as a gift the cool thing about this trip was i put a gps for sale on instagram so when we bought the contender it had a 16 inch and i wanted two 12 inches so i put it up for sale he contacted me and it's like i want to buy it i'm like no mom bring us to jamaica and you can have it so i gifted him with that and this awesome denko and i brought a bunch of dankos for everybody else here babe real quick just try it and see if it's as good as we have been waiting i can tell you it's so hot i know i probably should have let you do this this one's blistering hot where's my other knife hold on let me see this record i brought like five and i don't know where any of them are right now so classic the one hard thing about filming in jamaica is music jamaicans love their music you know hint jam rock john rock so we were getting ready to film outside and the dude way across the river started blaring some music oh she's looking at the creepy yeah there's a poop vein in that one so half the crawfish we what cooked them yesterday this one doesn't have it so we didn't get to clean the poop i've seen people i've seen people in the keep lobster smaller than that highly illegal if you there you go boom boom huge shout out to boom boom has been driving us eater and you like crawfish you've never had crawfish until you come to jamaica and eat them out of these crystal clear rivers that's as good as lobster let me give have you ever had the crawfish and for people back at home when you eat crawfish in louisiana nothing compares to these crawfish now of course everybody here is fixing to dig in but we got to give david a bite first where's your buddy
