[Music] good evening and welcome to the program Peter Scully was on the run for four years considered Australia's most evil predator he was the mastermind behind a worldwide pedophile ring which he ran from a remote corner of the Philippines he thought he was beyond reach but Scully was wrong tonight we take you inside the global manhunt for Scully the unbending commitment to track him down some astonishing good luck and the sheer courage of those fighting to shut down this repulsive industry it can be confronting and graphic but it is an unprecedented window into what it takes to catch pedophiles and bring them to justice the perpetrator of these horrendous acts isn't the most deprived individual I've ever come across 26 years of course I've worked in nine different countries I've worked in a lot of different jobs I've never seen anything like this [Music] don't know [Music] Peter Scully is finally in jail likely never to walk free again charged with kidnapping rape torture murder and selling the gruesome videos he's made which detailed the terror and pain of his child victims good morning thank you so when you were on the run how great was the urge reach forward to find young girls how do you ever head of it it's not like a hungry dog that's got a feed every three hours and four hours it's not like that and it's really not it's almost not a nose question 2011 and Peter Scully flees Australia for the Philippines after allegedly fleecing dozens of trusting investors of millions of dollars in property and IT scans while local police were aware of the fraud stir no one could guess he would soon ignite a global manhunt wanted for the most horrific crimes against children Australian Federal Police officer Paul Hopkins has been embedded with the crack team of Filipino investigators relentlessly hunting down Scully what is the case against Peter Scully there's there's two cases in the Philippines the the first cases of the slavery the fact that he's kept two young girls in a house and sexually abused them tied them in dog chains and allegedly made videos on them that's one case the second case involves the holding of young victims and sexually abusing them and then it went to violence against the young victims as well as abuse and then unfortunately and horrific Lee ended in the death of one of the victims Peter Scully filmed his atrocities at his base in Mindanao a remote part of the Philippines then sold he's made to order valve videos to pedophiles around the world anything that the consumer or the member of the book will tell him to do he will do to the point of you know killing the child in the course of the sexual abuse and who are those people where do they come from from UK Germany and u.s. agent Janet Francisco leads the NBI investigation she believes Scully not only had a hungry global market of pedophiles he also had local help skully even recruited his girlfriend's just teenagers themselves to procure his child victims 18 year old car me and Alvarez was one of Scully's girlfriends today she's in jail for what she did for him you said to me can we adopt some Street kids and he said I don't know I don't think so what if if my sister to live with us he said to me no I don't want your sister I want straight kid to help them then I meet these two kids then I say this kids you want to come with me and it's a yes so you you you ask them to come home with you because Peter wanted to build yeah and did he tell you which age what age you wanted he said he wants nine and twelve on the impoverished streets of Cagayan de Oro it wasn't difficult to find desperate and hungry children in September last year Carmy an lured the little girls with the offer of food and left them with 52 year old Peter Scully then other dad the piece of pickle ropes yeah not ropes for the dogs steak collar yeah cola they have they have dud so when you return two days after picking these girls up off the street yes they're wearing dog collars yes and they tell you that Peter has already heard them Rosie is the 12 year old plucked from the streets with her 9 year old cousin after eating Peter asked us to be naked and we were photograph and he took a video okay Rosie tells me she was forced to perform sex acts on her cousin as Peter directed and filmed it you look very sad as you told me that is that how you feel it's okay it's okay but there was worse torment to come the following day after breakfast we were asked to dig a grave why did you have to do that what were you told would happen to you that we will be buried in the graves that we were digging what else did Peter do to you while you're in the house while we were being photographed in video that night Peter Scalli he assaulted us while Peter was assaulting me gar me and told me to shut up and she covered my face with pillows so I won't scream why do you write young children the answer is I don't know I don't know the real answer well why don't we can hazard a guess no I don't have a guess because they're deprived Fridays I do thank you you do it but I'm looking for is the real reason why why I took that road and what drove me to it because in Australia wasn't like that in the first six six twelve months here I wasn't like that so what drove me that way that's what I want to know and that's what I want to tell everyone that is I'm writing off the streets by Scully who groomed her to be his accomplice and one of the abusers in his videos but at the time did you know that what you were doing was illegal okay five days after kidnapping them somewhere commie and found the sympathy to unchain Rosie and her cousin they made a terrifying dash for freedom before bravely going to the police car me an is arrested Scully is now on the run do you think you'll ever be able to get over the events there in that house do you think you'll ever be happy again and and not think about them I hope I can forget when I grow up I hope so I'm sorry in finding the strength to go to the place Rosie would help expose the full horror of Scully's most degenerate operation even younger victims possibly held captive for years and more pedophiles willing to pay $10,000 to watch vile stuff like this a video surfaced in Europe and that video involved a white male and Asian females molesting children very young children as young as two and even younger that video is called daisies destruction and there's a series of these videos and so around the world police and government organizations were doing what they do and searching for where this could have occurred and trying to find the victims a worldwide hunt was on Dutch police isolated the abuse to the Philippines and at least eight local children but still no one knew who the abuser was he pixelated his own face in his horrendous videos but Scully couldn't hide his accent and it took another Australian Paul Hopkins to spot it said I'm so so sorry it appears to be an Australian and that's awful so that that's how the case came together it just came together by everyone doing their little bit and finally then as the the hon forum was on welcome back to 60 minutes and the manhunt for notorious paedophile Peter Scully for years Scully had avoided the reach of the law and thought he was safe hiding out in the remote corner of the Philippines called Mindanao but Peter Scully couldn't know the extraordinary determination and cooperation by police officers around the world to track him down and to bring this monster to justice and a warning the material can be confronting and graphic [Music] so he's laying low he was right seeing about two weeks ago in this area so we closed but we just need that one breakthrough and that's what we're doing today we're with Australian Federal Police Officer Paul Hopkins and his Philippine counterparts who are close to catching Australia's worst pedophile Peter Scully wanted for kidnapping and abusing two young cousins and also for the sexual abuse torture and murder of more young children who are he filmed for the pleasure of an international pedophile ring so this is one of how many houses they lived in so there's so far identified 15 filming locations and the end 11 didn't find five houses at least by going house-to-house the Filipino investigators found exactly where the abuse took place in the dayz videos meticulously matching frame for frame the backgrounds with the stairs the tiles the windows of the house in which Scully lived and if you're a nine-year-old girl being taken up here you'd be terrified wouldn't care absolutely it's dim and darken and very scary at the moment my thinking and my suspicion is is this is uh is where they headed down that path towards the the dungeon nature and the and the the real depravity to add to the sexual abuse so the violence the torture exactly [Music] amongst a number of girls there are three main victims featured in the Daisy destruction video made three years ago Daisy who was barely 18 months old Cindy who was 11 and Liza 12 all handed over by their parents in the belief that Scully would feed house and educate them why would you abuse an 18 month old child well first out I didn't and it's not true I think it is true no I'm sorry you're wrong I'm sorry how old was she huh how old was she Pina you're confusing different I don't want to get into the shake huh how old was she I don't want to get into any of that yes okay whether that child was 18 months and two years three years well perhaps were mixing it up with a nine year old child or an 11 year old girl 12 year old girl mm-hmm you've done it to all of them haven't you all right I will go back to this now no comment so coward's way out is yet it's a realistic way out as the net closes in on Scully investigators are just as desperate to find the three girls so that I than you've been any white foreigners about there is that music yes early on there is good news the baby of the group Daisy has miraculously survived after she's rescued by her family but the team's exhaustive search for Liza and Cindy is going nowhere until this Maga classic Ayano Bologna laser nothing I share my own you know she can identify the girl so it's a breakthrough you know Liza is alive but for 11 year-old Cindy help has come too late [Music] sadly this is where Cindy died she was repeatedly raped tortured and eventually murdered by Scully her body buried in this shallow grave is terrible Cindy was the little girl agent Janet Francisco was still hoping to find alive you know the victim was me to dig first I didn't her own grief the question was killed by his friend do we know if he filmed it uh yeah I think so because one of the the people's are needed by pair of shoes so the video the video this girl's murder it's painstaking work in a cramped space but in death cindy has been given the care and respect she was denied in life [Music] not just by Peter Scully but by this woman too so how long did you live here for Liz El Miguel EW Scully's other girlfriend and his chief accomplice has brought police to the house where Cindy was murdered claiming she now wants to help the children she harmed did you want to help the children at the time how did you know where this girl was if you weren't around you know me the truth is 19-year old Miguel EO at Scully's urging carried out some of the most brutal physical and sexual abuse on all the children in the Daisy videos identified despite her mask she too now faces life in jail as does cami Ann do you know that yesterday police dug up Cindy's bones that she was buried in the house that they lived in I really don't know 20th of February for years after fleeing Australia and committing unspeakable crimes this is the moment Scully is caught we have six warrants for your arrest okay already investigators believe they have a watertight case against this father of two but they also fear there are more victims to be found alive or dead what was the reaction when you were arrested did you feel as pathetic as he looked thank you I didn't think about that you told me earlier that you you weren't a pedophile in Australia is that true hmm my victims in Australia of course not what about your own children no no way that shocks you does it shocks me it shocks me that you asked that we believe that there's still one girl missing where is she from now on my answer will be everything will be in a journal there you can get back some questions but that would be my answer is she alive everything will be in the so heartless for Virgilia Mendez director of the NBI the message for pedophiles like Scully is you can run but you can't hide maybe he's sick no person in his right mind will do that including his partner that lady's also sick what we're interested in is whether you have any remorse hmm whether you admit to what you've done mm-hmm which is sexual of the and of course murder hmm of course every moss why of course you think you people don't have free moss I'm asking you as somebody who is a repeat offender here who went on the run who's only here because you've cleaned court not because you turned yourself in at what point do you actually feel sorry for what you've done is it at the point where you're captured I'll take a question actually that's it that's a good question well done that's a very good question at what point do you feel remorse I think there's different degrees of remorse all the way through all right but I think your greatest remorse comes when you finally realize the extent of what you've done and at what point was that at what point is this I can't answer that honestly why isn't it the point where you were actually right things somebody violently torturing them why isn't it at the point when you kill a child why isn't it then why don't you realize the extent what you've done it that maybe you should ask us a question senator I'm asking the man who did it yeah while Scully Ponder's whether or not he's sorry for all the police who brought him down there is an ongoing price to pay or whenever I remembered the video um you know II sometimes I cannot truly help myself you know I cried Oh even now still and why does that make you cry because I can you know actually feel the pain that you know that the youngest victim had suffered during the time in the video so after watching those videos that are so awful we can't even really talk about them in detail how do you get those images out of your head I was having nightmares until we caught Scully so those images have gone now no but at least the nightmares yeah I don't think you can ever get it out it out of your head what goes on in Peter Scully's head is still a macabre mystery what is it about you Peter that hates children and women so much I might address that in your journal it just got crazier and crazier for you and sicker and sicker and you'd already committed murder where was it going to end like where what was the next level for you there was no next level and as a parent how can you reconcile what you've done to children next question please do you accept that you were ruining their lives as soon as you came in touch with and a journal saying you really have no sympathy for these people for these kids that is definitely John I think we have finished I think we
