all right we are back huh we're back at the nine Club everybody today we have a very special special special guest Mr Carlos hio is back with us dude how are you I'm doing good man thanks for having me I always make sure that I pronounce your name correctly that's good okay great job people always you know they all these people man rero riro you know I'm like no no no it's hio that was good I think that was the best one I heard heo that today you mean or just in general in general even the Portuguese speaking no no for you oh for me oh your Oh I thought you meant in your lifetime it's yours I appreciate that man thank you I appreciate that thank you he it's weird because I mean we're so used to and a lot of them it's like uh uh Risa you know is haisa right and all all the RS are H's sounding what are the hes then uh they sound like RS do they no depends like hater right yeah we will say Ator oh depends where the H is forget the H okay what about heart like my last name art um Kelly Kelly har har that's how they say I don't know just pronunciation that's how like they do it brail like the T would be and like David would be David David DAV okay it's a lot I gotta it's a lot to remember what about what about jiron Jon Jon Jon Jon that's hard you know that's not bad I mean you you don't like it when people mispronounce the I you know at this point I don't really care it is what it is I I don't correct anybody when they do say me my name wrong so even Josh said it the other day we were over at uh um at liquid and and my boy Josh was He Knows My Name he's like Jerome and I was like I looked at I had to look at my but I was like did he just and then he said it again and I was like wow dude all right happens huh is it not Jerome no is giron giron yeah but you have the accent though when you say Jon it sounds not it sounds no okay for sure that's why I mean I don't like to correct people all the time it's like you either find out and get it when you get it but I think that's just a slip though you can't you can't say all Gringo like like J jiren or they said Jerome he said Jerome do you ever hear Jerome I do because that's what I'm saying they get confused so they say Jerome yeah you got a whole different name right there when we were with uh Mario up in um uh Pennsylvania at Woodward I kept saying I I would use both I'd be like Mario and then sometimes i' be just I should say Mario and then at one time I apologize I was like yeah I'm sorry dude I just say Mario like it just comes out I can't you know what I mean I'm talking fast I'm thinking about something else I just say Mario it's okay whatever yeah yeah no you people get I mean you get used to it it's it it gets hard and and to keep correcting people right like I don't want to keep doing that unless I really like I'm in the moment I'm not really feeling the vibe I I'll say something but you're not really correcting people when they say Ribero are you no no I always say riviero is that is that most people say that most people say rir and then I you know I just learned I feel like it's like a Ru on like the the writing it's the I before the e or something right that's why so I'm like okay I get it now I didn't know I was like why always all the time riby Arrow yeah right just say hio and that's that there you go it solves everything yeah it really does right yeah but some people just don't I don't know it's just weird like if you're not correcting people all the time or just change the spelling of the name oh that's a better idea yeah just change your last name h e i accommodate everybody else I'm I'm going to work on that work on it maybe next time I'll be he beta with h yeah for you thank you I mean you don't need it you don't need it we're going to put this episode Carlos hio h e i b we're gonna just do it we do it for you this is how you pronounce them yeah how do you say Chris Chris Roberts in Portuguese how would you pronounce it chriso christio what r no ribiero just ribiero got a deay um Chris hoberts hoberts Chris Hobs I don't like that but we'll play with Hobs I don't like that I don't like no I don't know it's just like you and and Jerome I'm you call me you call me hoberts I'm gonna call you Jerome from now I will I will not be calling you we will play leave alone like we will say like could HTO or something like that there you go that's a little bit better yeah Cristiano sounds like a soccer player yeah yeah that's him football Cristiano Ronaldo like no no no herberto uh Herbert herto herberto Cristiano herberto sounds like a a multi-million doll soccer player kind of does May because we had Roberto Carlos that was a really good soccer player from the Brazil team then Cristiano Ronaldo that's mixed together both income combined that's you that's a lot huge that's a lot man big well listen dude thank you for coming because it's always fun to catch up with you and uh a lot of stuff's happened in the last well you came on the show originally in 2017 so that was a while ago then we had the stop and chat during the pandemic over zoom in 2021 so it's about time you came back and and saw us you know but first of all congratulations on I mean they're almost two now you said yeah they are two uh they are two you got a twins wow congrats bro amazing definitely amazing you got a girl I got you got a little girl and two little boys yeah 5-year-old girl Luna and then my two boys uh Luke and Levi Luke and Levi How's being a dad best thing in the world man yeah it's uh definitely lifechanging man um [Music] mhm it's crazy it definitely feels you you know it's different having a daughter first you know daughter kind of melts you and then the boys especially two at the same time they're just like like I said like they're like beautiful Savages like two right two little dudes dude running around breaking stuff at the house like definitely keeping us busy when you when you have when you first have the babies right they're they're they're tiny they're little babies right you can't but do you get them confused at all like in the in the very very very very beginning do you say the wrong names do you get them a little confused not really right uh before they were born I was kind of concerned I'm like dude like what if you get it confused you know yeah and then I think it's a legitimate question I would get confused yeah but um let's see if I can explain it it was natural labor the first one born was like had down locked for like the last two months of my my um wife's pregnancy what do you mean that would it say that so he was like had like ready to go ready to go okay that changed his head change a little bit really and then the other one was just up here in the Bley chilling has like a perfect like so we got a round head and maybe like a oval yes okay so that's the way you can that changed but also Luke which was the first one he um he had some hair like dark hair which is crazy and then like the hair fell and then it grew like blown hair afterwards it's crazy I wonder what that's so weird I don't know too much about childbirth but like black hair when they're born then it falls out and then it changes to blonde yeah interesting I know okay when he was born like I remember it was just a joke like he was BN look at my wife like what's going on that's Co bab that's pretty oh that's good in the delivery room yeah like now were you guys surprised that you guys were having twins um or did that like does that run in the family so that's a crazy story like I I had a vision I never had a vision before you know yeah I even told some of my friends they know what is this Vision were you dreamt it or you just sitting watching TV and you had the sitting watching TV chilling one day before uh my wife's appointment to like check on the baby see the heart and all that and like until then I'm like okay like cool another baby like all good so I'm watching TV and then on like when I blink like on that Split Second of the you know the darkness of your you know I saw number two like but it hit me it wasn't like a number two it really hit me like in my head you know like a number two or two heads of a baby a number two in a circle and then I'm like this my I have my friend um Bruno he is a CHF too and he was cooking for us he's our friend so he was just like yeah we'll make dinner for you guys you know whatever and he caught me like going like this and he's like dude like what's going on and I go I think I had a vision I never had one you know and it was like a circle with number two my wife was like oh my God we're having twins and then she didn't know either knew yeah when when I said that I had that Vision he's like okay it's Twins and I'm like I don't know if it's two cuz we have Luna you know but I see a number two and so sure enough dude next day we went to the appointment Bo she's like out we got two in there like wow but doesn't run in the family at all not at all really yeah that's what's crazy is it supposed to I've heard of it I've heard of it like every two generations or something generation it's more like um fraternal twins you know when can be like a boy and a girl that's like more like genetic but um our twins are identical and then it can be like random too you know wow it's got to start somewhere sometimes yeah so identical you can see that they're two years old now they look identical they look identical I mean they have their difference like I said you know and Luke it's a little bigger little bigger m a bigger head a little like taller too interesting man wow yeah very interesting how is having kids affected your skateboarding schedule well schedule meaning like timing definitely shrinked the the timeing yeah know but it sounds like you have to be more like scheduled out throughout the day before like you can't just go aimlessly go skate one day right definitely yeah you can't just wake up and like oh I'm GNA go no like but that's the positive thing about it in you know my perspective it's like you plan ahead and you're like okay I'm gonna go film so you call the filmer the filmer takes you more serious too like yo I want to go to that spot at 1 p.m. home be there you go you handle business boom fly you know drive back home that's it yeah so it makes you more productive in a way you know definitely made me more productive and more like use your time wisely more serious about you know getting clips and okay I'm work working on this project I have this time during you know the day I'm going to go at least a clip a day or if I can if I have time I go try to made me think more you know being more productive just systematically systematically it's not like I just go skate and then I hang kick it with the boys and then you know go have dinner and yeah yeah yeah what's up babe how you doing how the kids doing all right I had a great day had an awesome day we went in Bowling after session that's youing you ain't doing that no that's off the table got to be really scheduled out like really like locked in but yeah and it's awesome dude it's like motivation it's a crazy I mean Jon you have a kid you know like how how a kid can motivate you you know it's like on many levels many levels and then um and there was like one time I I told Luna she was already three and I'm like uh Daddy's going to try a trick on AO I'm scared so I went and then I got the clip and I came back and she's like did you get the trick on the rail yeah right what trick was it I think it was like a nose grind 180 I did for my part um on the fine it's like in Dana Point oh oh the one that out yeah yeah that real [ __ ] scary that's dope that she was so concerned like after you came home and like asked you know it was tight so are Is she starting to understand skateboarding a little bit um she is showing interest right now as she's five you know the other day she asked to go to a skate park with me like right before I got like the the blood infection thing M um she asked me to go to skat Park so I took her to Rack by the house and then like dude she really like step on the table and kind of drop in on flat you know yeah she dropped in on flat what do you mean I mean just step on the table just win sick dude is this the trick we're talking about right here is this it let's see no no no this this is I don't think this is it that one is that was it yeah I was watching this today actually and I was like damn I wish I could nose grind a rail comfortably your Shar can those grind a out ledge yeah yeah but not a round rail because dude you do you got a couple um back 5 no no uh regular regular 5's front F front side 5's on round rails God that trick will always always trip me the hell out scary just the way that I mean you I can see the lock in I it makes sense to me but doing it is the whole oh my God hey do you remember or actually I'm not talking to Carlos in this one but do you two remember that clip of Carlos the fakey 50 on the flat bar at Pauls Park mhm dude you I don't know how you did that that was tripping me out fakey 5 b you kind of pinched it no yeah that one I just did like a fiveo but going fakey that's what I was thinking okay if I can balance a five comfortably if I go fakey and do the same like you know body weight like balance point of balance it might work and it worked yeah I've never seen any do that before is this on your Instagram yeah where okay yeah please pull that one up cuz that was talked about it in the experience I think a while back but while back it's a while back and it's funny because I was trying to like just film something for instant with Eric and I'm like I'm going to try fake it five fake it tray and then I'm like try and fake it f fake it tray and then like some fake it big flip out and then it wasn't working I'm like dude I think I can try to balance a f five and that like ended up being that's nuts dude yeah people went nuts over this clip I was hyped I feel like you can fake it flip out too balance you are pinched in there a little bit but I know what you're saying it's like such an onp you can't even you are yeah man that's great how long did that take you that was quick it scary no uh definitely scary yeah a little you know because even though if you like fully miss that it's not like a crazy slam you kind catch yourself yeah that's a if you're not ready for it though you can get caught yeah I would that would be a crazy slam for me though like you say it's not but I would I would die on that thing pause got to talk about the crazy infection that you had because I'm not understanding this and I'd like to know a little bit more about it and I don't know if you've talked about it except for a couple little Instagram posts yeah yeah never talked about it yeah so basically what happened you had infection on your uh ankle and on your arm yes so actually the infection was on my bloodstream okay what it was was um there's a back IIA call strap right strap dakus pin I feel like ibly mispronouncing it I've never heard it it sounds nuts though I know strap have kids you know like kids normally get it common you know um my daughter had it so she just had a little ear infection okay which was you know all good and that's right when I went to Tokyo for a Street League and then I had like a a rash on my skin a little bit you know I didn't know and we skaters we don't care about it you know like rash like we go shower skate like that's it you know I had like some open spots on my skin from skating too we had like trip to Salt Lake City I was jumping so I had the the the door open you know and then yeah sure enough the bacteria just ended up on my bloodstream and then stra like that is it like a like a staff infection it's trap strap STP yeah that's what they they call it you know cuz I know vert skaters get stre uh staff infections with their pads and stuff like that for sure yeah so like wait wait the that infection got infected or the that bacteria got in because you slammed so many times from skating jumping down stuff that like it kind of got in so that's the doctors couldn't explain if it was through my skin rash or through my you know open spots but I definitely had like you know ports for it to and you're talking about also traveling too you're in Japan immune system yes correctly that helps too yeah so then uh Dr Roberts yes thank you or hoberts oh herberto actually got a doctor name oh yeah yeah Chris Roberts Dr Chris Roberts yeah paging Dr Chris Roberts Carlos HTO is here to see go ahead go ahead sorry so yeah and then um even the doctors they were like you know it's is pretty strange that it hit you on like the right wrist and left ankle can I ask you a quick question though how did you know that was it getting swollen did it hurt what how did you know that you had something wrong so that was out of nowhere out the blue I it was two days after I came back from Tokyo um I was chilling in my living room I was playing guitar with my kids all good feeling good no problem and then my ankle start feeling funny you know I'm like oh just like that was kind of hurting a little bit like but I you know I had like an injury two years ago so I was like ah it's nothing but then in like couple seconds it kind of like start locking and locking and then it was fully locked and know like it was like two hands just pressing my ankle you know all of a sudden out of nowhere out of nowhere out of nowhere and then dude that was like the gnarliest pain I had and that's happening so I sat down on the couch and I'm like dude what's going on like this hurts so much and then the same like five minutes range my wrist to like start happening same feeling I'm like oh my God my wrist is locking too I'm like what's going on on and I'm looking at it and it's swolling and it's hurting same thing pulsing it's like a pulsing paint that must have been the scariest [ __ ] ever your ankle and then your arm that fast so could what's next you couldn't move anything I couldn't I couldn't move much okay yeah cuz he he was like very sensitive like hurting so much so then my wife was like let's go to the emergency room right now yeah and then yeah we leave like close to hug Hospital like they the doctors there like such a great treatment dude it was it was amazing so I went to the emergency room only bummer was like I waited for 6 hours that was Marly emergency rooms that doesn't surprise me to be honest like the gnarliest paint ever you know but as soon as they got me to the room Morphin and then I was able to breathe and the doctors just gave me antibiotics beforehand kind of guessing you know it could be an infection so that was good that helped MH and yeah sure enough they're like yeah you're going to be admitted you know and I never been in hospital before you know so they're like yeah you're going to be admitted like I'm okay I'm in the hospital now they got me that you know that yeah you get you the IV you the IV I had the IV on morphine on so next day the doctor's like oh we got to do aspiration on your joints and they basically just put a needle on it and like suck you know the the back the pus out of your joints and then yeah they found bacteria on my foot and then wrist so they sent me to oh they were doing like cultures on it yeah so yeah dude like without any like heads up I'm like in the room they're like okay we're going to the O I'm like what like what's going on like yeah we got to get surgery like clean your both joints I'm like is that I'm like What's the process for this is your wife even there was with me the whole time yeah we were kind of like uh taking my friends were taking shifts you know JP his girl his wife um R Peterson's wife yeah taking shifts with my kids at home and yeah dude uh straight going to the O and I'm like I never had surgery before you know so I'm like like what's going on is it going to hurt and I'm kind of like drugged out from the medicine I was like om Morphin and pay mads and all that and she's like I'm going to put you to sleep don't worry I'm like cool you know whatever not even knowing what's going on and yeah sure enough uh right before they give me the you know the the gas to put you to the gas exactly I'm like hey one one second like I need my food I just want to tell you doctor I need my food oh you make that clear I need it like please don't you know don't mess it up and she kind of got bummed cuz I said that you know but I wasn't like I wasn't concerned about her skills as a doctor I was just like yo I'm skater what do you mean she got bummed like did you see her face expression kind of like like I got like she's like you don't trust me but you're like no no I'm just letting you know that I'm skateboarder she like I'm not going to move anything I'm just going to clean it out blah blah blah blah blah and I'm like all druged I'm like like whatever and then like homie just comes here like count to three I'm like oh what's going that's a word like I just offended my doctor hold on I need to let me let me talk cut my let me talk let me talk to her again hold on goodness yeah it's crazy right I never had it before so they you count to 300 and them I'm counting like one I'm like there's no way I'm going to fall asleep and then you just blink and you I had a boot oh my your and you woke up just like that yeah same so weird that's a crazy feeling so they just dug in there cleaned out everything yes I did see some scars on your you have one on your so they really opened it up there wasn't like any they they really opened it up and got in there yeah they open it up they're kind of aggressive you know it's they scrub it like and uh my ankle too they move some tendons to do it um and uh they kept a drain in it afterwards so they had a drain on my ankle and on my wrist for two days they're like oh we're going to keep it drain there so I spent 5 days in the hospital okay that's what I was going to ask cuz you went from the time you went in there it was a the the second day you were in there the first day you were in there you went to get surgery it was the third day third second day I got um aspiration and then the third day I got the surgery the surgery and then after that you spent another two days in there yeah wow so then the fifth day that's another crazy occasion the doctor come in and it's like oh I'm going to take your drain you know I'm like oh cool it's all good but you can see here like there's a dot in here right so the drain was here but it was all the way in the middle of my wrist and the the wrist it's like all little bones and like tendons it's like all tight in there so homie just pulled it like nothing dude that was the gnarliest paint too he just RI ripped it out he's like yeah people just say it's a funny feeling he went and yanked it out and I'm like I scream from from my gut you know when you scream from your gut like at the hospital and then dude tears just came out of my eyes I wasn't even crying it just like came out of my eyes and I'm like that was so painful but it went away in like seconds and then he's like oh we got to take the ankle I'm like oh gosh can you be a little less aggressive I just prepared myself I'm like let's do it then I'm like hold but then the ankle was fine the ankle was fine I wonder if he just if he knew and was just like there's no way that I'm going to just like have this poor guy suffer it's like a Band-Aid right like have this poor guy just suffer me slowly taking it out yeah I don't I don't know I've never had a catheter yeah so that was weird and then yeah I had like a they call it pick line on under my armpit right here what is that it's like basically a you know a like kind of like a IV like to put medicine in you know but it's like 10 cm in in your arm just to just to be safe you know cuz I had to do antibiotics treatment in the vein for a month after that oh wow really now are you administering that yourself my wife was doing it so how does she do that she just the with the tube yeah it's still in your arm was still in my arm and she hooks something up to it and then pushes it in like like a syringe type [ __ ] ex exactly like that but we went on like we went to the to the nurse and then the nurse kind of taught her how to do it and then but my wife she worked in the hospital before she was biom medicine in Brazil so she kind of like ran some exams like that's what she was working on before she moved here so it was easy for her wow man which she was good kind of like lowered the price of you know oh going on a clinic every day to to get oh that was another option yeah oh hell no I mean could you have done it yourself if you really had to no I couldn't cuz I couldn't move my hand have somebody administrated it for you could dude it was crazy out of nowhere too this is crazy wait so this is your right hand and your left foot yeah and then I went home on the fifth day and then I came went back to the hospital the next day cuz I had fever and like I was had a headache okay but dude um the doctor um infectologist doctor was from Porto algra Brazil too at H hospital so he gave as his personal phone oh wow which made it a lot easier so I came back and then he's like we got to do a CTE scan of your brain and then that's when I thought I was going to die I'm like see this SC on my brain it's like just start thinking you know like bacteria on my brain like okay like this is serious and then that moment I was like okay like this is serious but but they're just doing their due diligence to see if what anything else is they did it no problem it was all good like did they give you any explanation on why your joints just two of them just froze up out of nowhere did they say anything about that that's where they were they they couldn't explain you know but some people have it you know some people have it on the heart which is very common you know since it's in your bloodstream some people have it on their brains you know vital organs so when so this could have been serious it couldn't be really really bad so I was actually like grateful even though it happened out of nowhere mhm it's it would you know looking at the positive sides I couldn't blame myself from like oh I shouldn't tried that 5 you know and rolled my ankle that so it was kind of like happened out of nowhere and and I was like oh it couldn't be really serious too so I'm good you know I'm alive and I'm going to be able to skate again so it's all good let's oh my god do what it takes and so you're still how long ago did you get out of the hospital um it's been a month or so right I got out of the hospital on the 24th of August 24th so we're we're approaching a oh August of August we're approaching two months and you're still um haven't skated or anything still haven't skated but um I've been doing physical therapy for the last month and uh it's been improving a lot I feel good i' been riding my bike I'm able to like walk normally no lamp anymore so okay you're feeling you're feeling the mobility coming back and and attendance get yeah so I feel like maybe one more month you know as I'm experiencing the progress of the recovery I believe I will be able to skate wow what an or man that is scary [ __ ] so scary dude it was crazy yeah but it's it's gone thank God we're good exactly thank God it's just it's just funny to me is how sometimes the doctors they they can't they can't explain what the hell's going on like that's so weird to me like this is 2023 like why can't they explain what happens to the human body when when something like that happens or maybe they just don't want to explain and they just want to I they did their job and they healed me you know as long as they can do that good I know but I just I'm a curious of course I'm curious by Nature man I want to know you already think like this has already come through this you got to know what this is that's why my friends call me whiskers oh cuz you're curious like a cat hey some people won't get that joke don't go right over their head I didn't get it yeah it's I don't expect you to get there will phoh har Harry Cary uh well thank God that you're okay now and you're I mean another month maybe you'll be back on the board and uh no you will be back on the board yeah yeah well I'm just saying I I for sure for sure but it's skting ain't going nowhere you should definitely heal up yeah before I mean it's a serious thing you went through man definitely it's crazy bro and like you were in about the barracks in the middle of all this too that that happened one day before I was going to play um Chris that's when I went to the hospital and then they I hit up Brian I'm like I couldn't even text I had my wife like yo just text Brian like I can't do it and then yeah I explained to him like few days later you know what happened right but I mean you did play Eric C which was rad Eric's a legend dude Eric is the best he is the best man so you beat Eric how did that feel feel good beat Eric cson skat in the world that was one of my biggest accomplishments I'm going to make a shirt I had I had Eric I had him sitting right next to the board with like no letters on my name and then fool skate right next to me I'm like dude that's I'm going to make a shirt with that you really did you took a photo I took a photo yeah so sometimes I I texted that to him like out of the blue you know like on the Tuesday 2 p.m. I just sent that photo to little reminder every so often just get it out to him yeah no you know he doesn't you know he doesn't take it serious like of course if he wants he can beat everybody that's what I'm saying easy same because he has like every trick every trick plus tricks that nobody can do it like some pressure variations he has like dozens of those you know like if you know some pressures like you might be able to land five but not 12 15 like Eric knows all of them for sure I'm glad you said that cuz we do talk about this on our on our live show and I I say the same thing I'm like Eric can beat he could win this whole thing if he wanted to that's why I want that's why I called him to win it I know but I knew that he wouldn't go that far you know dubs is picking all his homies you know I know but I feel I feel him you know he's probably there like okay like I I own this building like should I run you know everybody on this nah like let's have them you know let's let's let them have go easy on him but I was bummed like congrats on beating Eric though like for sure but I was bummed because like I I wanted to see the Chris Cole Carlos game that would have been so good definitely dude that one he played against Mark was insane Mark suchu Mark suchu Chris Co gosh I watched that game like he did they both did like every variations of like cabal arios nly 360 Hill flips all that were you worried about going in playing Chris Cole definitely not like you know I'm not not like uh I'm not like somebody that will think I can win battle of the barracks you know I'm not like a guy training flat ground every day that's not my but you are very consistent skateboarder I mean I I know some tricks on flat and I can play and have fun but I'm not expecting to win okay bad out the barracks you know um but I was just hyped I'm like I have the opportunity to play Chris Co it will be fun you know like I just play Eric which was amazing you know now I have opportunity to to play Chris Cole like it's awesome but yeah fortunately it didn't happen do you get you get when I watch you skate contest you skate very calm are you nervous in anyway or is that you just naturally just the way that you look is the way that you actually feel inside I don't even get nervous dud it's easy just kidding I get so nervous dude like it's totally the opposite like cuz you skate like Street Leagues and you're like super mellow the way that you skate you know what I mean like and then I I'm just like is he even like thinking about what's going on of course the inside I'm like one trick okay next One landed keeps it nice and composed but Battle of the barracks is a little more it's a it's a very loose atmosphere and um you're still getting you know you know what I'm talking about though no no no no 100% but compared to a Street League compared to like Battle of the barracks like come on that's n day man straight up you get nervous at the barracks too because of the silence you know and you don't want to like I just you know you don't want to do like a soggy Nolly flip you're like oh freak you know that's why you're nervous you know not about winning or losing I feel like or just missed the first kick flip to switch double flip huh dude you know why I did that I don't do that trick but I did it because because we were skating beforehand you know at the barracks and then Eric missed a switch flip just playing around and then I'm like oh if he miss one you know I can I'll do a double and then when they asked for a death blow I didn't have one plan and I'm like oh I saw Eric missing you know switch flip I'm going to just throw a switch double flip just for the fun of it but then when I when I got him on I'm like I'm just G I got I got to you know keep up to my word and I and I did it but he landed it did you and the switch laser was beautiful too man the switch laser was funny because in the beginning of like they were like reading the rules uhhuh um somebody was next to us was it suchu maybe was close to us and he did one and then Eric's like I got that and they are reading the rules and I'm like standing on my board and I did one like stationary like one of the best ones I ever done in my life like I was surprised I'm like whoo and then Eric's like yep you know that too like wow was going to run that too yeah he was Su you with the one um so then we so then you said that that the the day before you were supposed to play Chris Cole this happened and then so they they must have postponed it later cuz you then were there when they when Eric played were you trying to get better were you trying to see where you were at with this and maybe you could play Chris Cole exactly I thought it was going to bounce back quicker too because it was all strange I'm like I didn't hurt anything you know it was an infection but after I learned that the infection kind of like you know hits your tissues card and all that there's a lot of repairing to do yeah so then they played obviously and um it was interesting because Eric froze he his uh his hamstring or something pulled his hamstring dude yeah his hammy he pulled a hammy he pulled a hammy during the game which I don't don't know if I've ever seen anybody get hurt during mid game but I feel like cuz here's the thing they put Malto in which Malto had already lost to Tyler Peterson so that wouldn't even like now he's on the other side of the bracket if he won he would have had to move for like the whole thing would have been [ __ ] up yep that's my opinion but it's also Chris Cole like but I I assume that they're just there figuring this out as they go if Eric pulls H then they're like okay umed what do we do let's turn the cameras off let's think about this okay Malto you down like exactly that's what happened okay yeah I assumed that's what happened but I feel like Kus did some curse too D what say that a little louder what what happened Chris he had a curse on us dude oh all you guys oh you and Eric me and Eric I think Eric bounced back quicker from his hammy in yeah I'm just kidding but we were saying that during the game what happened dude like everybody that supposed to play Chris just get yeah hamy that's the type of stuff cin could do all game that Flap Jack tricky he just did like he could win the whole game battle the barracks by doing stuff like that do that 18 180 yeah back side for 60 but it it's cool though I I mean this is how it should be like obviously I did the Legion of Doom with when um who got hurt uh oh Leo Romero mhm yeah but I don't remember who lean lean played but I don't know who was before that because whoever lost before that game should have played Lan like they should have stepped back up just like how Braden hobin oh that's what it was Leo yeah so I wonder why the he didn't just move forward you see what I'm saying yeah may maybe he was just busy skating like me listen it's skaters I know that the bars they try their best to to try to do all these things but you know Eric losing the last game and then you getting out and him coming back that's the proper way to to handle it yeah you know very conf can't those switch flips are getting them huh he was dude they not working that day yeah yeah I said when he missed the switch flip on my game I'm like yes he worked he's so it's so rad though it's funny because you know me and JP my friend like we always play games of skate every day and then we we had like the yearly you know we haven't done this last year but um we always talking crap at each other and then we were at Copenhagen and JP is like let's do one right here like it was like in the Nike event like all the Nike heads like I want to beat you in front of everybody from Nike no way and then Eric was walking by I'm like yo Eric come here real quick man like can you tell JP what happened with you at the bar we're not going to even play just tell just tell do you guys go back and forth a lot with you and JP do does like do you guys beat each other a lot is he yeah JP is really good dud he's like so consistent and he has like his you know are we talking about JP sza yeah yeah he has his routine you know he would start with a switch front shove and then he'll switch ver Hill ver Hill back hill like all this Nal back hill Nal big hill so you know his routine I know his routine okay but um yeah we go back and forth yeah I feel like the last one I beat him I beat him right then and there in front of all the the Nike dudes Place yeah cuz he was like he tried to call you out he called me out he was drinking too and I'm like did this go down go down it happened and what was the result I won any letters what was the letter break then I think I think I he got me to te he got me yeah it was like a wavy ground and he like he can't miss like a switch ver he all back he like don't miss those you know he's really good but yeah so good well I'm bummed I wanted to see you play Chris Cole I did want to see that maybe later you can do yeah Redemption game you'll drive to SD and like yeah no make him drive up even better yeah they have three kids you only have two he has two they little I don't remember yeah also I want to talk to you about something too because like you also had a rotator cuff or what was it the um didn't you have like a shoulder injury or something no no a deltoid Li yes that's what it was okay was that a shoulder thing no that's in the ankle oh that's in the ankle same ankle that's um that got I looked it up though a deltoid is in the arm now we have like a deltoid uh in the multiple deltoids in the inside of the ankle you're thinking of Altoids or something no deltoid oh okay Del yeah deltoid it's like one of the largest ligaments right mhm it's like the inside of the ankle yeah I rolled it like this way so you did that before you had the I did this filming for Define I got cut short on the de line because of that cuz I was I went to frost to try a trick and then um I was grinding it warming up and I kind of like step off the oh like I grind down and flat and like I did this a bunch of times jumping off running down the stairs and then just one of them I ran and then like kind of Misa the right one so I let go to so I didn't roll that and then I went full body weight on the left and that's when it went are so you saying you you rolled it outward I mean I rolled it like this over the top yeah and then what happened was like that was the explanation about the from the pts okay my foot moved back you know from that rolling and cut the deltoid ligament you know so it was kind of like a clean cut like not like a stretch and tear is that on the the double Kink or oh wow yeah what were you trying I wanted to switch crook cuz I had that in my head like I I I that I I want that to be my last trick cuz I had like switch back nose one on Clipper I'm like I just want to add one more you know and I'd be like thinking about that oh you wanted to so cuz Clipper dude we got to talk about Clipper though cuz you had that you got that a while before yeah the Switchback nose went was kind of older not older footage but yeah you had gotten a while back but you already knew that that was going to be your last trick yeah and you wanted to one up that last trick you wanted to get something else switch crook exactly a nothing wrong with that well cuz yeah he had he had the cover doing that so you're like I want to give some else that expecting that to be the you and I knew I knew I was going to have the last part too so I'm like dude like I want to something else you know you already knew that you were going to have the last part yeah how did this conversation come up because listen this is a primitive video this is the gnarly to get the last part in the Primitive video is lot of pressure Bonkers so what happened was right after uncore um like two days after the premiere Allan had me on a lunch meeting with Eric you know and he was like uh we're working on a video for primitive we got two years and that's going to be the biggest you know project biggest video project and then uh and you're going to have last part so you got two years wait a minute they're telling you already before anybody yeah Allen's telling you this so he's just he's trying to Hype you up is that right he probably told everybody on the team have last part that's how you do it right there that's how you do it I mean I'm telling you hey everyone had last Parts in that video pretty much but dude that's crazy though so he was telling you that in the very beginning you're going have definitely got me Juiced you know and I'm like and nervous like little pressure but good pressure you know okay so in my head I planned it like I'm going to film like 15 minutes of footage you know and I'm 15 or 15 15 I'm like dude I'm going to try to film as much as I can and like every single clip has to be like has to count for me you know like has to satisfy me so that's what it was in my hand and and he was going and Richard motor was leaving right across the street from my house during that time I remember that yeah so he was the one who suggested me to go to Clipper because I was like dude I don't want to do my last trick on a crunch time you know I want to like try to get my last trick before but I don't know what to do and he was like why don't you just go to Clipper and switch back nose blunt it he said that just out of the blue while he's cutting his steak he's the best he's good in this dude why don't you good to CPP do it in his voice Clipper just do said no think you can try that he's like are you for real we did I mean you did I you did switch flip back nose blunt on a table not not on this part but not on this part but a part before this part right um that was a while back I think it was welcome to primitive 201 did you even want did you even consider trying to do a switch flip back nose bunt down Clic Clipper I did dude I thought I was so Juiced but then I had to back switch back nose bu I'm like what if I start my part with a Switchback nose end with switch flip you know people are like oh again like would be sick that that was like my dream but did you ever go up and try it no no Dam no I think you could it's like it's a big claim you know that's a huge claim and but he's our your he's but another I was juice but I didn't know if I was able to do it I knew I was able to try it you know okay so I'm like but I even I think I mentioned to Alan probably mentioned to a few of my friends too definitely mention to JP but even when you went up to go try the Switchback nose M where you even looked at at it in the terms of like maybe I can switch I could switch flipback nose about this thing no when I went so when Richard said that I was like like let me call Kyle Kyle lived in Kyle Camarillo he lived one block from Clipper because I thought it was knobbed you know because nobody had talked about Clipper in a while so I called Kai I'm like yo can you check Clipper for me I want to know if you know if it's catable if if we need to like take some knobs like maybe try a trick and then he goes only if I shoot it and I'm like of course of course we so we're going to he went next day he went and he sent me a photo the wood was on the run up and the Clipper was just perfectly ready really was ready for you ready hyped you up so I'm like woo like all right cool like I'm going to go solo and check it you know and that's like from Huntington Beach like you going to up check it out yeah so I thought about it but then in the same kind of like time maybe like couple days after Allan was like oh we're doing a trip to Sacramento I want you in I'm like sick uh but I'm gonna drive I'm not going to be in the vanent just because I want to stop in SF to check a spot I didn't even say cuz I don't want to claim anything you know like mad he's already claiming you're going to have the last part though yeah but I'm like you know what I'm saying like let's go you out there and he's like no worries dude like do your thing perfect so you didn't want to go and try to film it then you just wanted to look at it I just wanted to look and then I was going to go to sack to film and then you know oh maybe on the way back you just kind of map it up you're kind of mapping it out in your head if it's if it's if it's possible or not you don't want to waste people's time exactly so then I drove there and I went straight to Clipper um from the drive I hit up Kyle a little after I showed up too cuz I like went there the wood was there so I like warm up on flat ground by myself grinded it boom like I fix by himself go dude I'm going crazy Carlos what is he doing by himself 5 it [ __ ] God damn you just switch back nose blooded I'm going crazy like solo just like oh my good I can't believe I'm going to try to switch back grind this by myself right now but I need to this is me talking to me you know like I need to switch back grind this like if I want to do okay I'm going to commit now and like see what happens and then I didn't land first try but it was mow okay and then Kyle showed up I'm like dude I switch back grinded already I feel good I think I can do it and then and so the trip was like five or six days I'm like the last day of the trip I'm going to come back and we try and it was like a Thursday or something but it was still like schools were out still so then I went to sa and I told alen Alan on the last day of the trip I'm going to try to switch back no mon Clipper but um I just I'm not even going to skate this sack trip like is it cool he's like dude like totally let's let's get it what's your thinking behind that you don't want to burn yourself out I don't want to burn myself out you know I want to be like full to now are other people there like we had being like what you what's going car why aren't you skating we had no I I skated a bunch of spots but I would like grind the rail you know I wouldn't I wasn't trying anything crazy you know okay we went to the spot that Geo fakey 50 the triple King you know and that's a malan fun I grinded that one like that was for me was a milestone I was super hyped on it but I didn't try actual tricks and then be right before the end I'm like kind of nervous and I'm like dude ell like let me tell you something I feel like I'm nervous and I don't want to just bring the whole van of everybody and like I don't want to waste everybody's time what if I don't try you know and then just having everybody there for me to try a trick I feel like it's going to be like too much pressure for me like is there a way we can arrange something and then I'm like I'm thinking maybe you know like they just go back and I stay and maybe you stay and Alex stay and Eric and then we film and then we drive home after okay and Alan's like easy let's do it so Taylor drove everybody back to LA okay then I'm usually I like people you know but I was just so nervous right there and then that's one day before the trip and they like okay Taylor was like dude we got you like easy and then I'm like did everybody else know that this is going on or was this kind of behind the scenes I think they don't they didn't know nobody mentioned and I kept it low key and cuz I was like kind of I was nervous you know I was scared and it's funny because one day before I'm like kind of want JP to come you know it would be cool to have like JP there yeah so I hit up JP that was like 11:00 p.m. and I'm like yo JP if I get you a flight from you are the most you this is the weirdest okay keep going goings I know but it's it's insane 11:00 p.m. like if I get you a flight tomorrow 8:00 a.m. out of join I had already checked you know United fight uh would you come I'll pick you up in the airport cuz I'm in sack I'll drive pick you up in the airport we go to S warm up and I'm going to try to switch back nose clipper he's like yeah let's do it so I got him the flight and I'm like I kind of need Chico there too Chico from allergy time so I hit up Chico and I just say I just texted him I'm GNA try to switch back nosean Clipper tomorrow he goes I'll be there like sick I love it so I got Chico I got J good energy good no pressure at all you know not that the boy no pressure you're flying people in I he's my homie we could just go I understand no for sure for sure not like everybody on the Primitive team is by h we're family but I felt like it was kind of like it was driving me kind of like nervous I think anybody listening or watching this could understand being a skateboarder can understand what you're talking about I don't want it to come off like no no no I mean bro skateboarding is it's it's a mental game as well you need to be mentally he was playing chess that he was playing chess that day totally straight up and doing what's comfortable for him because he was even so nervous to even go try this straight up dude okay so go on so Chico met there everybody met there so yeah we drove off sack me Eric and then Allan and and Alex Kissinger was going to meet us at the spot after okay so me Eric left Sacramento pick up JP in the airport went to S and then I'm warming up and I see the Hub at s it's kind of big right yeah and then I'm like okay I got to switch back no on this but I was scared to try there and I'm like oh my goodness I'm scared to try here which which hubba s so SK Park oh the skate park okay and I'm like I can't believe it dude I'm I'm going to blow it like I not going to to try like I'm scared like and then I just kind of like went for it like blinded and it was fine and then but that took a while while of like mental you know yeah breaking down things exactly and I had like set up the time 1:30 p.m. at Clipper and that was already 130 that's when I first tried to switch back no B somah hubba okay I was always sweating like crazy dude and then finally like 67 tries I land one then I did another one and I'm like let's go and got in the car like drove straight to Clipper and then as I got there Kyle had everything set up oh like he was already ready like Alan was like camera in his hand everybody was ready like if I ran up and tried did my trick first TR it would be like Photo Clips three angles they were all ready and that made me nervous I was going to say that's that's almost more nerve-wracking going up and everybody just standing there or just holding their yeah cameras unless you're in the zone like you were you know what I mean I was I barely I barely like what's up like what's up what's up went up there like okay I got to switch grind this again like and then the whole manal War started you know switch grinded and then I started switch alling kind of pointing and that took like probably one hour of switch alling like acting like Switchback nose blending the air and like kicking out but like going all over the whole thing to the ground wait you're not even running you're not even running down the hubba no just like going in the going over the impact bro you can't like run out of that trick we well I could see him kind of kicking out and just did that afterwards when I was more comfortable okay but it took me 1 hour sure enough JP like he came up like he's like dude like you're just burning yourself like if you really want to do this today you have to like commit on this try like stop doing it and then again I'm like okay dude like all right let's do it so I went blindly again try it and it was fine just L like casual I'm like oh cool but of course every try took like five minutes you know like roll up like oh but I probably try like 30 mm m 30 actually putting it down before landing okay yeah and yeah was the best villain ever when you know so after that you you landed it did you black out when you did it or you remember everything no I just landed and I just like relaxed like crazy relaxing like feeling you I can't believe I how long was a trip for when you went up to Sacramento in the beginning like a week a week so this is a week's preparation a week's thinking about it a week not skating a week not telling people a week trying to figure out how to get back down there with like the less people possible and then flying people in calling Chico going to the S par like oh there's so much that went into this yes dude so I can imagine you went to like Roose Chris after this and just at like a king actually we went to with Chico just like y I know I'm maing spot right here like burrito and then skated with JP actually we skated like the little flat Gap they have by Union Square you know just kind of like oh playing around from what you just told me I think JP made you do it yeah I think having him there yeah made you do that was the right call to fly him up yes cuz without him telling you you you're [ __ ] you're [ __ ] up right now yeah you need to just do this burning them legs out bro CU I cuz I did this for him back then when he had like on pandemic he dropped three parts and it was the same thing like he would have me doing tricks for him you know like he would try there's a trick he he did like an ol back overcooking his Ray and tus and then like I was there and he's like dude like I need you to heal flip the set and I don't even heal flip the set here's some footage behind the scenes stuff and I'm like brother really he's like so I'm like for him okay I'm going to commit it and then landed it you know like I never he'll flip a SAT so he'll commit and all that okay so that we go back and forth that I love that that's actually pretty pretty smart this is a cool little piece right here sorry R I didn't see this on here but uh this is behind the behind the mission yeah this is uh is this primitive to put this out yeah yeah I like how how uh they do Alan puts these out like they're pretty rad I love to see this type of stuff cuz here's the thing Carlos is like and listen I'm you're here I'm going to gas you up a little bit like you are very talented and like we've all seen your work right but it's so nice to see cuz I think last time we talked to you over Zoom you were talking about skating were you talking about skating the switch backside lip down the rail you're like I'm so scared to try Stu and I'm thinking to myself like dude here's like one of the best skaters right now and he's you're like the the mental process that you go through like physically and mentally to get a trick is like it's crazy to me you know what I mean I just I I assume you just go for it and you're just that good and you just do [ __ ] it's like if you want to try you know you can do it you know but just have I I got to be like for me personally I got to be calm yeah like I won't try something like kind of sketchy you know if it's kind of big where you can get hurt right if I'm not calm so I'm rolling up to it and I'm like nervous I'm like okay I can't try like that and then sometimes I play myself to I'm like I'm just going to push to it and like see and then I get close like oh and I try you know sometimes so it's it's weird yeah that's crazy that process man what I think is crazy is that I think people have a misunderstanding of that because they see you skate streetly they see you to these guys skate this is what I'm talking about and they just do the tricks on command that one try when they need to and when it comes to the streets everyone just thinks it's the same process like you go and it's like that one try you just do it but even on Street League too like you don't see people like practicing their tricks Landing them like three like besides Niger you know but like people just kind of like flanging tricks and then okay like your turn and then boom full commitment like if you commit to a trick fully and like you stay for over 20 years like there's a big chance you're going to land it right like Street League you could see like if you try to switch back nose blunt a hubba there that you were scared of you would probably just do kind of the same thing you did there and then when it was go time Carlos you're up as trick you would then 100% commit Y and you need JP there to tell you you're [ __ ] [ __ ] you better do you better do this so now that you did that I mean is it still on the table to try to go back up and switch flip back nose blunt it um definitely want to but um I need I need the whole process too you know I got to get back to like because I haven't switched flipback nose ball in in a long time in a long time right I got to get back to get comfortable with it that confidence back start doing on the hubbas and then you know once you're like doing on the like primitive double set hubba that's a good one you do there and then okay like ready to go to the street but that can take a while and or that maybe doesn't happen it's good it's a good one though but on another note sorry go ahead go ahead on another note like the switch Crooks that you were trying at Frost I mean dude that that would be gnarly I mean so I mean you were thinking about that on like the back end and you already got like you know obviously you're kind of meat and potatoes but just to kind of think about doing that too I mean that would be amazing what rail is Frost we got to look we got to double we got to check this out real quick what how did that affect arto back lip yes how did that affect your filming for the park getting that so early cuz you got your last trick done at that point how did that affect the rest did you still just go obviously went as hard as you could but did it make you feel comfortable it made me feel com comfortable but also made me feel like I it got me so juic that I wanted more but I wasn't thinking about adding to the adding to that as the last trick until like crunch time I was just like I want to like get as many tricks as I can that like counts for me I didn't realize that this was Frost okay okay you wanted to switch now did you try it switch crook dude I hit up not Buster shout out not Buster once again dude big shout out that was like I was in a barbecue at night and and he like just sent me a video like 11:00 p.m. like grinding wow this this spot get a one shout out to him bro shout out to him he's like dude I got you all you know laced up everything smooth ready to go and the next day I went and then went by myself earlier before everybody to like whole thing boards LED board sliding yeah I was like I'm going to get comfortable with that thing I was like should I go straight I'm like I want to get comfortable I want to like really feel it you know let's get let's get acquainted with this thing and that messed me up cuz when I was grinding it you know I was comfortable jumping out of it running down the stair that's when I you know roll myle okay so unfinished business right there unfinished business okay did they reob it I know did they reob it I don't think so okay maybe we they're it's yeah yeah switch crook somebody you already did the switch crook right it's shaving it this is not a spot everybody's going [ __ ] try to do some [ __ ] on that's damn sure but true in your new part you switch crook the rail on Dana Point which is like kind of similar or maybe do you think that one talking about his independent part yeah yeah yeah that was like kind of like my redemption in my head my personal Redemption on a switch Kook on the king cuz that's what I wanted you know do you feel like it's harder on the round rail like that or a square rail H Frost squareness it's like similar to a round rail you know skinny and stuff you can pinch and really be like locked in on that I could see you doing a switch crook on Frost I could see that oh for sure you do it I think it might it might be is it longer you feel like longer it's longer right longer yeah I haven't been to one in St CL or in Dana Point so long but this is your Indie part right here we're there's a front 5 man so we'll see the the trick that we're talking about right here in a in a minute but um great part man definitely bro independent trucks let me ask you a question though like are you because here's the thing is like I I tend to think that a lot of the times like truck parts wheel parts like different parts is kind of like I'm not really working on anything right now and I have a bunch of footage so let's put that let's put together like a little part is that kind of what was going on here or were you filming for this I was filming for this okay um again unfortunately it got cut short because of the infection that happened to me sure but uh yeah RH I knew I was going to have a truck in this period of time too so I'm like you know what I I I don't want to just throw weight footage I want to film for this you know my idea was to have a full part again like you know maybe like 3 minutes and a half four minutes part like full part damn you wanted to pull three okay I wanted it because oh running out of that sorry I wanted to deliver it you know like oh my truck like it's cool for me personally it was you know it's a big accomplish having that truck at independent you know dude having a truck and independent is gnarly definitely so I'm like dude I want to deliver and I wanted you know to be cool but I was like cut shark because of this but yeah did you try this did you try this again after this or did you just that was it on the Swit cre was one day one day yeah get him that real so R it was like deadline for the ad for the truck M and I was trying a different trick at um s CL high on the knob rail oh okay oh this was the second option and no that one I tried like two days in a row like didn't happen and then it was like last day of deadline that was a Sunday and I'm like we're getting it lucky number three lucky number three one day actually I tried s CL highight and then I drove I was with Yuri and I'm like yo let's go check this Rilo at Dena point so we came there no fumers and then I was just throwing switch Crooks like tappers uhhuh and then I kind of like grinded one a little bit I'm like I feel like I can try you know like I I'll hit up Rhino like took a photo of the rail like maybe we can try switch crook this for the ad tomorrow he's like so sick right so yeah whole process on that one God process I love I love your processes though dude you know what's crazy is that right to the left of that is where muskus skated the there was like a roof Gap right there yeah and there was that and there was some other crazy rail they took out but yeah that spot's been around for minut switch Crook's probably the gnarliest trick I've seen on that hell yeah yeah what's going on with that Bottom bar is it is this is it bent though is it broken right there real quick like the flat the flat uh it's angled down you see that is it like that on you on that bottom part of the yeah the bottom part I think there's something on it it might be like just is there conect okay interesting oh okay that one yeah that one right there I thought it was bent down it looked like from that other angle never mind dude there's a little quick Kink at the end yeah like a little yeah a little bit little bit what a g it's crazy to see the evolution of skate trck like arto from boarded that thing back in the day I was like what that is [ __ ] gnarly yeah and then switch Crooks crook is by far I was I was hyped I felt good that was like when I did that I'm like oh I got the Swit crook two years later you know after busing my ankle Rhino's a legend too man the amount of skating gnarly skating that that guy has seen is yeah does that make you feel weird does make you feel weird like if you're going to hit Rhino you have to do something kind of gnarly Ryo I got this Ryo I got this little Manny pad sequence man and I was joking with them I'm like dude like you know you usually like shooting Pedro Delina and those guys going like off the roof like crazy rails and I'm right here you know just St on a switch crook like d but that's not that's not that's no little switch crook dude I know I was like I want to I was joking with you I just want to gain you know my my hash pass you know um you brought the truck which thank you so much cuz um I I I just a couple quick questions though I mean it's it's a truck you know independent got the gold to match the board on the wall right behind me and um did you want the uh inverted Kingpin yeah it's okay good idea skating the I was skating the classic ones too before when they dropped the mid I was pretty hyped when they dropped the mid okay cuz it's a little lower you know then this is obviously yeah a little lower than the high so quick snap on the TA and nose when you're skating so I was hyped on that 144 wide the ones I skate what size board do you ride 825 825 uh 144 trucks okay 144 truck oh medium they put the M there now for medium okay so then you just wanted the inverted Kingpin did you have problems with the the regular Kingpin getting stuck on Smith feebles not really backsmith no I not really it actually looks kind of cool like that I like the the size of it you know being a mid for the quick snap and and then the 144s too which is between 139s and 14 9 right so I was hyped on that and then with the inverted kingping is just like a plus for me personally I agree bro would you ever skate Hollows Hollow Kingpin Hollow axles um I did before but um beforehand I used to skate just the Classic ones you know I kind of likeed my board a little heavier too you know made me feel more comfortable more solid maybe huh you've been skate Indies for as long as I think I've known you right yeah wow all right that's awesome for IND sking CR trucks oh [ __ ] oh Brazil right there dog how how does this even come up because listen I'm going to tell you right now like independent having a pro Indie truck like not that many people have these you know it's very select few like you're in a great little category right there how does this discussion even come up like who there is making the call or what what's going on I hit up R while back maybe maybe 3 years ago like a year before the fine came out M and I was filming for it I knew it was going to have last part so I'm like yo R like oh he's already call he's already like oh I mean I knew that I was going to you know work for it so it was going to have like a project coming out and then I'm like y it would be cool to have a truck with it you know and then he's like yeah like cool this that like definitely but the conversation didn't move forward and then the video came out on a Friday and then Monday he like hit me up like we're giving you a truck really yeah they had to see they had to see the part first before you can talk all the talk you want dude exact you got you got show that part comes out there you go I should Al beforehand and be like yo can I get that you know timeline I got to S it spons trying to get a truck trying to get a truck but congrats on this man this is this is huge uh like I said man I I mean you could probably pull up and count on one on two hands how many people have had Indie trucks Pro Indie trucks true last one I saw was probably Reynolds maybe C cost Reynolds I think Pedro has one Pedro okay Lan had one okay so maybe it's not that common then no I'm just kidding no it's dude not that many people have them let's just put it that way Selected Few I'm super going through the inverted Kingpin I like him the Gold's sick I like the gold too I kind of want to like just you know been being on primitive for you know this long primitive has that gold board like that's like their it's perfect that's their thing thing you know I kind of wanted to just put it on the truck too and make it like when did that last gold board come out this one just came out oh perfect is like aect yeah like a gold like Holo they they call the Holo foil holog yeah something like that do you skate those boards the gold ones yeah yeah you do okay I'm just wondering like how long do they slide good do they grow like cuz they're in boss too so oh no it's the same yeah no problem I feel like only like if if it's like California sunshine and need do a Tre flip some sometimes he that's what I was going to ask I was like so I've skated a gold board like that before it's like yeah if it's sunny out you can get a little glare in your eyes oh wow yeah I never I never even thought of that we your sunglasses dude glare yeah yeah you should start skating in sunglasses and big headphones like you're wearing right now seems to be all all the hype that's true perfect who's sponsoring um well congrats on that man I'm stoked congrat on that got a truck coming out I mean it's already out the gold board the um and just hopefully be back on the board in in less than a month man yeah have you rolled around at all yeah I've been pushing around and feels good just got to just get in that get that uh ankle because it's your front front yeah the the nollie and switch pop you know right right what about so you had that part in to find you have this independent part like do you have footage save for something else are you just starting from scratch right now to to work work on something new I'm starting from from scratch that's kind of cool though it's cool I like it I like that cuz sometimes when you have it makes I don't know I feel like it it'll motivate you more to get back hey you're going to get back into the swing of things and then start filming again so looking for oh [ __ ] I keep spilling [ __ ] I keep I'm looking forward to it though it's going to be fun to watch yeah yeah we had talked about this we have to we have to speak on it again though we have to because this is I don't I think there's a a lot of people have done tricks over tables but I think that there's only a a few people that have done the gnarliest tricks over a table on flat ground and I think you are one of them let me guess go ahead Swiss B 3 360 you are correct yes and I'm G to tell you something this is just you trying it here and we'll get to the point where you land it but again I I I I don't remember we must have talked about this already we must I'm pretty sure we did but we it let's talk about it again because the way that you are looking backwards before you even pop is mindblowing yeah do you when you do that trick do you is that normally your style of doing it or just because of the table you had to kind of really wind up and you almost had to switch Alli it first switch back 180 first yeah but you weren't even going back 180 when you first like it's we got to get to it here let me let me fast forward this go ahead but please yeah when when you do on the ground when I do on just on flat like it's kind of more like um vertical a little more vertical than that okay you yeah but um yeah definitely was RP Rodrigo Peterson he was the one who told me to do that like right when I when I first got here like 2011 and that was like 2014 maybe okay JP's your caddy bro but just look at look at look at the head right you haven't even popped you're looking look at back from where you came from probably eyes closed right there just kidding it looks like it yeah look at that dude so much effort dude but look is I'm saying but you to listen he look insane if you ask anybody right here what the hell what's he doing right here uh people be like uh on the smaller it it doesn't look like a Switchback three I mean look at this it looks weird and look you don't say you still have another rotation to go yeah and you're on your way down dude that's seriously it's mind-blowing dude it is mind blowing that you could do that over a table bro yeah I'm sure that took a lot out of you the effort is real with that I probably can't right now but I did and it was filmed thank God but we did it they filmed it you don't think you could switch back three that anymore I don't know how long ago was this 2014 10 years ago oh yeah 11 years ago that's just one of those shs yeah I mean it was a whole preparation like it it took me three years I definitely didn't win every weekend probably went like 30 times to the schoolyard and tried but when I was skating tables on a regular I would back switch back 18 180 and I had it in my head like I always have to switch back 180 first try so I like didn't miss a switch back 180 over the table for like three years period I was always like really I was really like focused on it you know like I really was thinking about I'm not just going to try I have to land it mhm so then that was good but it's a whole like it's just effort dude like fully like so much effort for that trick what school is this that was um you know they had a bump to table on that one they had like a little bump to like Ray on on the fence I forgot the name of that school I think Spanish was there I mean p Rod was there Rod was there that's pretty rad Sun Valley yeah it's in Valley it's not it's not Sun Valley I know which one you're talking about Raj but it's not that one H he had like a a lower section you know if I keep going after the Sut back it had like a lower SE section to it it's so funny cuz you can go to any school in Los Angeles and skate a table Yeah like pretty much you are right I think I think you are right it's the above part yes okay you're right you're right I didn't really realize that section in Sun Valley it's Sun Valley Elementary has got that bump to table that everyone was skating for a while yes exactly they had the bump to table but I yeah I remember Nick Tucker was trying to nly front foot flip over the table with me this day wow he didn't get it day get it wow he didn't get it this day D I don't know I I think every time you come on the show we're going to bring this up cuz it's phenomenal man phenomenal this one I definitely like blacked out after him like I can't believe finally like three years trying you know and that was last day of that night it's crazy again for the 1947 oh yeah that's right dude wait what do you think which one are you more proud of that or switch foot back tail of the Bey block um that's pretty back to Hill that's a good question I I like the switch flip back there the Bey block kind of like helped me you know so much cuz it I was freshly here like that was your that was your first LRG ad right or first first photo on thresher magazine I think really yeah this was like six years ago seven years ago right was like 2011 I think oh 2011 oh damn that's when you hit people over the head they were like who the [ __ ] is this dude I was like freshly here Kyle had me go to his house remember we talked the story about the the toilet paper thing at Kyle's house that was on the first show It's the weird one I don't need the toilet paper story you brought it up need to refresh yeah refes what is this because in Brazil we got bad plumber you know so we can't just flush it on the toilet we got like usually a thrash you you wipe your ass and you put the put in the trash the little bag and every time every time every time you you throw the bag away every time or you keep it once it feel you know definitely try to C and make that's that's yeah Third World um third world things so I'm fresh in cell didn't know and then Kyle like had me go to his house to like his apartment by Clipper same one that he he lived for a while to film and we were just like skating a lot you know he lived with them obviously with mag maggan right Maggie Maggie yeah yeah yeah shout out to Maggie haven't seen her in a while and uh yeah there was like barely spoke English too and yeah I went to the bathroom and I'm like I did what I had to do cleaned it and then the look there was no thrash can you know I'm like oh that's what do I do with this and then there was like a bag on the hanger off the door you know like a plastic bag with some papers on it you know and I'm like oh this is the trash so I threw it in there and I flushed it lefted it and was chilling in the living room just waiting for Kyle to go skate and okay unfortunately Maggie was the one who got in the bathroom she was like what what ISP [ __ ] put what was the bag you put it in though like toiletry bag what was going on there makeup bag I don't know what it was did you have to explain to them like listen what I do he was his camera bag no I think K didn't even brought that up nobody mentioned I think Kyle called Tyrone and Tyrone was like dude like Brazil it's bad Plumbing you know like that's like how they do he explained it to them and then like they were like cool but nobody brought that up well nobody brought up how do you how are you supposed to figure this out then who told you then I mean you you must be going around to everybody's house leaving [ __ ] Rags everywhere probably I yeah probably did that for a while until I realize you could just flush they could flush it sure I mean there's different types of toilet dude I just went to Japan for the first time last year I'm like wo those are Next Level oh yeah those are some Next Level toilet they have Toto Toilets over there dude it's like they make noises they make like white noise and like little like oh God Rogers love that they clean you they do everything they clean you yes no toilet paper no no effort the toilet just sit you sit there do your business and then bounce just for the ride yes wait wait wait wait so that's the same day that you switch with back tailed no I don't know if it was a same day but same like same week I spent in SF with Kyle yeah yeah did what how did that trick even get decided cuz that seems really messed up Rodrigo was trying to line n nose light and I was just hanging waiting you know Rodrigo OG like I was super stoked like for me like he's being like one of my Idols you know Peterson right yeah Peterson trying to line with n nly no light so I'm just hanging on the side and I'm like up I threw the switch flip back thereo just playing around I wasn't even trying to do it and then and locked in somehow like the way flicked and kind of like bone your Bo your board right and I stepped on it and I'm like oh so then Kyle's like let's film that she's like Rodrigo you got to chill for a little bit yeah yeah yeah sorry I got something else to do over here no actually he got Zach Mack oh yeah you know Zack Mack right yeah San Diego he's like Zack like can you film this so Zach sat up it was like dude 10 minutes boom Landed It Like Dam wow that quick Camp then Kyle filmed Rodrigo and then he came like yo let's shoot a sequence and then I tried it for like 30 minutes I couldn't lock in again I'm like I think it was just that those 10 that 10 minute that window was open window wow that was the same trip to San Jose yeah I mean did you try it again cuz you kind of like got your little foot off right there too you tried it again oh no I was like I was like dude I can't believe that's a w yeah we're good bro yeah the foot adjustment went right back into place oh 100% I was just talking with Malto the other day about like this we're like dude I can't believe you did that that long ago like that was such that's that was like yeah the first thing I think people saw that were like oh this this is some new kid coming up right now big time I yeah I'm probably skating Crow trucks right there I'm not sure but like you were on Plan B flow for a minute and then were you on CH you were on girl chocolate flow and then like no one was St you were swich back tailing things I mean when they did that I was getting boards from from danman for yeah from Plan B yes and I'm like don't speak English very much so I'm like I did the trick I'm stoked but I'm like chilling and then D hit me up he called me actually he was like yo did you just switch flip back ta the B blocking SF and I'm like like he was in LA you know like what's going on I think Kyle tax him yeah I did yeah so I know I I was like okay like people talk about stuff you know I like K we brought this up the other day that uh us growing up it was always like you get a board sponsor first and then you get the other things Carlos was one of the first ones I can remember that got you got LRG first Ty believed in you so much that he put you on the team no one else had really put you on anything yes well cray well cray but CR never yeah of course but they never put him ads or anything but I feel like that was like Tyrone believ in you so much that like you just kept doing what you're doing and look at you now like but he didn't do the traditional get a board sponsor first then you can go from there I didn't fully had on a board sponsor until 2014 that was like 2011 so it was like a threee like with on LRG just just that and that was primitive and that was primitive yeah right wow that's amazing one of the first yeah you and Nick Tucker yeah me and Nick and Paul primitive started like the board like primitive like you were one of the ogs you were one of the first people on it was like April 10th of like 2014 I think that's right Paul started uh uh primitive with you Nick Tucker himself and that's it yeah it was just that but didn't he do the gold board first he did the gold board first first that was that was before primitive though yeah yeah that was that was it wasn't even Prim name I remember he was trying to figure out what to do yeah I remember he hit me up he's like dude like I mean I actually had a talk with Heath and he's like Paul is making a board brand we don't know the name yet but we want you all like and I'm like was talking to cliche at the same time cuz I was so cliche was oh yeah hell yeah I was a big fan of cliche and there was a bunch of rumors that like Paul's brand was going to be named Paul Rodriguez like skateboard like that I don't know if you guys remember that we going around so I was like okay I want to do it but I'm like how's it going to be you know until like he find like are we going to call primitive we going to launch in April I don't think Paul would ever do that no I don't think he would ever call a company named after himself I remember when Heath told me he was going to be Paul but that was the gold board though and Mike Taylor and then myself that's what he was like oh wow that was original first team original first team thoughts you know what I think the rumor came from I I I almost believe that Paul talked about this because when the gold board he had no intention of doing primitive right in the very beginning it was just the gold boards and I think he was just like well maybe I could sell these gold boards at certain drops and just Paul Rodriguez boards yes and I think that's maybe where the rumor had started that probably I remember going to have dinner dinner with him and he was bringing up these these options and basically primitive he brought up primitive I was like dude primitive you should just do that well he had the cut he had the the the the store yeah yeah the shoe store the store at the time right yeah and that's I was just like that's like a no-brainer how long was the shoe store live because that was short I feel like that was short Liv too couple years couple years I think yeah like maybe maybe three four years basically longer I don't know people longer yeah I think it might have been longer he had a shoe store in was it in downtown no it was in the valley right was in the valley yeah in the valley called primitive in Cena oh in Cena yeah so he had a shoe store in the valley called primitive and then did it close did the shoe store close down or did he have primitive they were they were simultaneously and then they decided that you know it was a lot to to do both yeah oh wait so you said what happened with cliche then like what how were like so you heard Paul it be Paul Rodriguez skateboard like I don't know if I can do that no I was actually like still on the edge like but I was definitely leaning towards cliche you know I was so hyped on cliche yeah and uh you would have been the first Brazilian on there no I think so yeah Joey was the first American yeah I think probably yeah and uh Ty Ty was like you know like you should do Paul thing Tyrone yeah like you just cuz Paul he was one of the first dudes who hooked me up too in in Cali you know I talked about this on the first episode my second day here he was the one like you want to play B boards like he like arranged that you know so he had me like had my back since like day one so I'm like okay like I'm gonna go with Paul you know can't go wrong don't go wrong chose correctly well definitely After Time cliche went out of business it's sad that they went out of business too because I I was a big fan of cliche as well not only the Riders was like on fire Kevin Bradley I went on a cliche trip with those guys this the first time I ever like met Kevin Bradley I was like this kid is insane he's jumping out of the van kick flipping over 12 stairs in a rail like just on fire just funny little kid mhm yeah great team too Pig like man solid team it was great I wasn't expecting I remember hearing they went to business and I like didn't believe it I wasn't expecting that I don't think I don't think the Skate World was ready to hear that well their F first mistake to be honest was them joining DWI dwindle right that's how they got in the states that's how they got yeah didn't even I don't know and then I think they not only the distribution I think I think they were like I think they sold it to dwindle or something right and then they were just Jeremy Decline and uh wasn't that the way yeah BOGO weren't they running it from yeah BOGO was living here boglio was living here and it was they sold it to and then I think after I don't know it's just I know it's a bad it wasn't the best move and it's sad sucks cuz he was such a great BR I was so good I was a big fan good name same yeah Vin VIN I've lived with Vincent in Barcelona for a while cool ass dude that's that that was your roommate when he lived in Barcelona for that transor part yeah no no no no I lived in Barcelona with at Vincent house with Kenny Reed Vincent brasol okay uh Oliver Barton Frederico was there for a while uh Paul shy dude it was so dope man that's dope yeah yeah I don't know I think that I don't want to speak on I don't want to be wrong about that but I think that's what happened right Raj like they sold it to dwindle yeah dwindle owned the name they owned it okay yeah and then dwindle was like no we're done with it and then I guess they were just like okay we're done like they'd have to rebuild the whole thing yeah they would take it out of it and have to work on it more and was like we're good right but you chose correctly Paul was a good way yeah good one to go with how do you feel about it today I'm stoked definitely happy about it it's crazy to see how big that company has gotten and how many Pros you guys have on the team dude dud how many are there got to be like over 10 20 I don't know well that's the thing is to have the last part in in A Primitive video is gnarly let's just be hon it's gnarly 12 Pro 3M 12 okay we got P Rod Thiago mil Silvis Carlos hio Wayde desarmo which dude he just came out with a part twoo my goodness th such a treat yeah bro spenc Hamilton Frankie volani Trent mclung Robert Neil Brian peacock doesn't he live out here I think he's out here right yeah uh Trey Williams Giovani Viana dude G Gio's part that last one oh gosh Bonkers cuz you were you guys skating that Hub together switch with Kook fake8 no gr that seemed like a heavy session let's not forget about the hams too sorry to interrupt really quickly uh kinos yes Dylan jab and Felipe Mota yes that kid Felipe is gnarly they're they're all gnarly don't get me wrong yes they are all gnarly what about what about John you guys putting on johnon I hope so I think John who John one of one Johnny Hernandez John hernandz yeah Johnny Hernandez no he's so good man good I I can't say I don't know but um I hope so yeah and I probably I think so yeah are they do they that okay so you probably know do they run things by the team or how does this work what do you mean mean uh when they just have uh somebody were they're going to put somebody on they talk to everybody VI so if you're going to put someone like Eric C on you you I feel like Eric they we don't need to know mean if they're like oh Paul's like Eric your on like he doesn't call ask maybe we just throw a party and like let's celebrate the you know welcome Eric to the team so we don't know if Eric's on or not I hope so too for those listening I mean he quit skate men so now he's we want him back on girl to be honest it's it's hard to I feel like it's hard to have two bosses on the same you know brand we got Paul as a boss a boss that's amazing though if Paul would be Eric Carson's boss imagine that yeah the table I need I need you a welcome to the team I need I need you welcome to the team part yeah three minutes and a half y so good dude oh my gosh what well I guess I I gave it a good try gave it a try man to see if that's the case but we I mean I think we're all like on the edge of our SE trying to figure out what he's doing yeah you know what I mean we got a good poker face man me yeah dude I I hope so please you play you play poker no no you just you would be good at it if you we've been asking I mean you seem to know stuff but you're not no actually I don't I really don't you're making me laugh so he makes like okay probably look like no but I don't what's it like having Taylor as as a TM amazing yeah Taylor Mong yes Taylor MCL is the best dud like definitely get stuff done and he Hypes everybody up at the spot sometimes you're lazy you know and then the TM just like I'm going to front side flip this usually first try like he doesn't try much it's like quick he's a jumper too what a gnarly TM bro like I mean he can he's legit like [ __ ] full-blown skateboarder like he can film a video part and stun on every body exactly he's definitely a pro skater caliber you know and he fils like he's in the session he gets clips and it's all like you he's a pro I love him who did he skate for before it's an expedition Expedition we weree together on an expedition right yeah and then that when I he just that kind of fell apart and then I kind of feel like that was good timing for him to like kind of figure out what he wanted to do in the future exactly so he get to get a job he's probably employed by primitive which is way better than being I don't know you know what I mean like he homies benefits he gets all the benefits and he gets to go skate with his homies and his brother yeah his brother and all his homies crazy his younger brother and he is the boss too it's amazing or is the younger brother the boss good good in this situationer Taylor like dude I'm taking five boards off your give me well Taylor's the oldest one yeah I know he's like I need a photo by tomorrow my guy like really and you you got to skate like a 12 above rail what what a trip man three brothers that are just very very talented skateboarding out that yeah don't they have a fourth brother tug Doug mclung tug mclung wow I haven't seen him in a while yeah it's I don't think I've ever seen him the legend is there though he's already a legend in my eyes you know what I'm saying I heard his Swit flip back nose One Clip no no no we're saving that for you that's that's all you that's all you so again we're starting fresh no footage you're just going back when when you get back on the board we're what are we working on though is there any projects in line that you know of no projects really no Nike [ __ ] nothing nothing in mind right now um so fully fresh you know what about uh Olympic stuff yeah definitely um skating those events so you're going you're going to start skating those when you're you're better yeah I'm aiming for this you know if I can Street League s Paulo December 2nd if I'm ready to skate I'll be stoked to skate that and then Japan for the Olympics right around the corner like on the 12 right yeah so go to that that's World skate stuff World skate stff you know but I definitely love skating contest you know I I enjoy myself doing that but it's not something that drives me you know it's not something that really drives me you know right like I I wish cuz then probably would try to do better you know what do you think it is though what what why doesn't it drive you I don't know I try I try to figure it out I try like I want to you know like I I even like that myself I want to win like I can like let's you know figure it out but it doesn't really like it's not like my full passion you know right like like filming you know it's different like like I said I wouldn't like it's hard for me to try like a Switchback nose one on like a Clippers size hubba on a contest I'm like oh what if I get hurt but then if I'm in the streets I'm like I'm I'm going to go for it you know it's it's yeah you grew up in the streets though that's I think that's the separation that's just the '90s mentality bro at the same time like I want it you know like C is school it's a great opportunity to like make extra money to like you know everything it's fun and it it adds up to Street skating too cuz you like on try to have to do that trick first try you know in front of everybody I like it I like the challenge I want to improve but at the same time I'm I'm still like I'm like um battling with my on that you know I love it I want to do it I got to like maybe just let it come naturally yeah you know it's just maybe one of those things yeah I got to go and like it has to be my day like I'm feeling good and okay you know but even the Street League compared to like the World skate stuff I mean so it's separated now it used to be the whole thing like all these contests were like a part of this uh goal to get in the Olympics right but now it's separate so now it's World skate and then every other contest do you go are you still not even the World skate [ __ ] you're not like I mean Street League is amazing dude I love skating Street League cuz it's like all like it's all Elite skaters there and you're like skating with like with you with n you know Paul thean it's like we're all homies we we skate with each other on you know very often so it's cool definitely makes you like forget about the pressure and the format too is dope you know they you have all these attempts you only need four scores you know so it's nice it's definitely different I I love that I love skating World Skate 2 but it's a different contest it's like 190 or 200 people you know no disrespect maybe 50 of them doesn't skate on the level of like a pro skater you know okay then you have all these Heats and it's like so competitive cuz it's like Olympics people really like it's different you know can you explain to me you know how it is right see the difference it's a different um atmosphere at those events I'm glad that they had SE they separated everything I'm glad that it's only World skate now because I I think I think it was too much for everybody to be doing all this the these contests that that led up to this but can you explain to me why and again no disrespect to anybody in there but why some skaters aren't up to the caliber is it because they each country has to have a certain amount of people in this qualifi like probably they don't it's more about you have to qualify for your your your country and then they can all go try out at this contest they can try to qualify to get into it how many people from each country can go to qualify that's a good question I don't know I mean you only have three per country to make it the top 20 right but going into it though they can have as many as they want maybe yeah you I don't know you have like 10 people you can have 15 you have five you have two okay you so it's not stive some count doesn't have like 10 Pro skaters you know or right right and so they got to put 10 people in or we're just making up a number whatever it is right okay I could see that I could see how that would uh to wait to make sure that they can partake in the games well they want to try to get in there and have their three right if they qualify in the top 20 they're in yeah they can get in is the more people you could have in there the more better chance right you have of getting in there at least one of them in there right yeah um every country has to have one representation yes like it doesn't matter like if top 20 didn't have one like it they like South America has to have something in there like if there's a country that with with only one skater like that one skater's in yeah they yeah there has to be one representation I think it's like for All Sports in the Olympics everyone has to have one representation from each interesting or something I don't know I don't follow it man I I it's too much for for me to follow and everything I'm not even interested in it to be honest with you and so it is an interesting thing like it's and I could see how it it's can get watered down a little bit it's cool it's fun you know it's a contest but it's definitely a different atmosphere everybody's like taking it you don't know that people either dude it's like going to Tampa am like everyone's so hungry to go crazy at it and then you're like you escape what a disaster 45 minutes on Monday practice has to so you like overseas and you skate 45 minutes and you wait and then Tuesday 45 minutes again and you wait and then Wednesday open qualifiers 200 people what then like you're on like the seventh heat and then you skate at like 600 p.m. two runs that's it and then you make the cut like what is it 32 something like that I can't remember top my head from 200 cut to 32 so quarterfinals and then this is each contest is like this yes wow dude it was I was going to say it was the craziest thing I've ever judged okay having 200 people and you having three people each heat and we're like we have to write down every single trick that everyone does but you're not it but who's doing it now who's the judges over there I think KY I'm not doing it I I stopped a while ago Garr Hill gar Hill Garrett Hill Daniel LeBron Dani LeBron JB Gillette is doing it now uh Vanessa Torres Vanessa Torres and then Larisa is the one uh Amy she lives out in Australia um these are the five judges for everything men and women yes okay okay interesting yep for Street for then they have a park yeah they have their judges different judges they I think they have judging the park Cory Duff Cory duffel was judging okay but yeah it's it's a it's a whole different thing I think why why Street League's so cool is cuz like it's selective yes like they like someone has a dope Street part that comes out that's not in there they'll be like dude yeah we need we need that dude in Street League or that also like a private event yes it's not it's an invite only private event it's not like a this public thing that the World skate has to kind even the select series they do one day before like the winner gets in like they invite those dudes too you know yeah definitely yeah it's cool what an interesting thing it's like so you're going to try cuz last Olympics you almost made it in didn't you yes you were like a couple points you like you and Gio were kind of fighting how was that trying to pretty much battle with your home trying to get in the Olympics dudee it was I I wasn't even you know like I said I wanted I'm not like talking down on it I really wanted you know it's a great opportunity to be on the Olympics of course but it doesn't drives me so I'm like I'm not like you know FG I'm going to go and do this tricks like I'm like okay like let's I I'll have my plan that was in Rome like the last event before the Olympics J skated before me he missed like a bunch of Tricks so I pretty much I had to Lear like basic stuff and in my head I had the plan like okay I'm going to do my run switch flip from board the rail it was like a 10 stair Square Rail and then I'll do like you know maybe switch back no the hubba that's it like I did my run landed it missed the first switch flip from board I'm like cool I'm going to try it again miss it again and then Shane is like f just switch back lip the rail man I'm like I'm not going to miss another switch flip from board boom sure enough missed the third time boom threw it away wow so if you just switch back lip the rail you would have been good maybe and then another trick you know yeah you just need to score on the board and then like another another simp a simpler trick so you got to follow along with where where you are in this cuz I'm sure Brazil has a lot of people a lot of people right so you got to Edge out a lot of these Brazilians who are incredible at skateboarding exactly you got to be strategic for sure well that's what that was rad to watch remember that one cuz everyone's playing their own game with that point like I remember Felipe trying to get a score just to get in there he wasn't I'm not trying to win first here I'm trying to get eight right now so I could get into the Olympics everyone had a different role and like playing their own game which was really fun to and entertaining to watch to be honest yeah because they everybody it's it's weird it's so weird like everyone's so used to like trying to win but some people are like but you're not trying to win you're just trying to place I'm trying to get right there dude just trying to get into the Olympics yeah right so it it was fun to watch and I do like that aspect of contest but yeah um we'll see this next one's going to be interesting to see in in Paris that's so crazy man yeah that's so crazy that they get that every contest is like that 200 people thing that's insane to me a lot that was the wildest that's the that's the one thing wild I love judging but that was that I can only imagine must be so hard to judge those that was too much dude I was like tiing that's like there's some there's got to be something here figured out this is ridiculous yeah yeah who's in charge of all this [ __ ] who's figuring this [ __ ] out I mean that's there's people at World skate that have to figure that out but I don't know do they need help over there I know seriously hit us up man no no no Chris it's you're fine dude no I'll figure this out for him no we'll figure it out for him okay all right yeah perfect that's all good I'll just go to Street Le it's way funner they proba probably good a good little paycheck for me over there you know what me this is what you got to do help Sol everything we're gonna we're going to we're going to lay everything out on the table all right we're going to solve everything you just arrange the budget right yeah make for the budget's right easy man easy trust me perfect Carlos CTO man I'm stoked for you to get back on the board and start killing it out there dude I can't wait to get back on the board I bet I bet it's been a journey and I bet when you get back on the board just having something like that happen to you I'm I bet you're going to like have this new found like respect almost for skateboarding too and like you know what I mean because like it could have been taken away from you overnight like like that just like that the doctor could have tooken your leg off dude just just because you talk [ __ ] to her right before you got under what if the doctor just cut my foot like got you got you oh no but um that was definitely a humble experience you know I mean it humbled myself not a humble it humbled myself a lot when I was you know like afraid of die mhm type of stuff and then I'm like okay like I can get back on my board like I'm grateful totally awesome yeah for sure and just having your two three children now and everything like put life into perspective when you kind of go through a little thing like that big time right I didn't realize it was so I didn't realize that it could have been life-threatening I didn't realize that it could have affect your heart or your brain and stuff like that that's crazy crazy dude dude so wait you're going to uh you're going to Brazil tomorrow yeah and what what's going on out there there is um there's a event big event it's called um sdu and uh um they they're giv like $500,000 for what for for skateboarding they is divided by Park Street male and female but like first place 50k wow it's huge you know why haven't we heard about this what's going on they they've had them theyve they've been for a long time no they did it last year okay but they've did what's it sdu yeah they have like the Nationals that's like the national circuit in Brazil you know okay and then this event in October is the open so it's like they it's like International they big one it's right in Rio right it's in Rio right by the beach yeah it's sick dude cool let's what's going on here St open Street and Park re oh this is 2022 by the way yeah I think I judged this I judged this a couple years ago yeah cuz they had it with 2017 won I can't I've judged it at least twice at least I've judged it twice yeah yeah for like World skate was a part of it at one point yeah yeah so yeah they have that and uh I'm in ambass for for this event so I'm like I want to go out there we're they're doing um a panel okay and then Paul's going to talk about business and stuff you know try to like we want we want to like have them out there to inspire you know people and um yeah we have some Tha Evans going out there too I mean you guys have a huge skateboarding is massive out there in Brazil isn't it like second to soccer that huge that huge was really good you got got got that is that is that real though is it is it second to soccer skateboarding out there I I believe so yes that's amazing is nuts a lot of SK a lot of great skaters dude yeah definitely that have passion bro real talk that just yeah they bleed that [ __ ] and just the spectating part of it too people really get behind all the skaters out there I mean it has you have to have a good spectator to be second for soccer oh yeah football of course I mean you guys probably know but the by the viewers of the show here is probably a lot of people from Brazil every time that there's a Brazilian on here man we get millions of views yeah they support bro they support each other no doubt totally that's for damn I don't know about Millions but we get you know dude those those contests when you do contests in Brazil the The Crowd Goes completely nuts like Australia was insane I can imagine but Brazil is like I I've never seen a I've never seen people in the crowd like that they get behind their [ __ ] they the flag for that they get loud last year Rio was crazy remember in Arena yeah that's so and dude congrats to Felipe dude for winning that League out there incred super he was I just couldn't believe like it's funny watching these Street Leagues for all these years like I'm just like is that the first time you won like I you forget on like how gnarly it is to to win a Street League I mean you get listen for a while you just have the same people winning over and over and over you get used to seeing it you forget that like Felipe gustavo's never won that's crazy to me you never won before have you I never won what was the highest you got third you got third yeah that's amazing too that's amazing top three top three for sure you got one of the trophies man yeah UT second and niga first and you third so SI wow that was Munich 2017 yeah oh I wasn't there that one Bute oh you were there well cuz uh yeah you guys doing the diamond best trick yeah okay true but dude uh so hyped my boy Filipe winning yeah he's been going for it too you could tell man that just I mean like I had never se you see people win Street League but I had I had never seen it hit him that type of like emotion come out of somebody like it was he really wanted it it was he's been wanting it for a while right um I called it though you did you I don't want to claim but I called it I'm like this park you know T Hub like yeah it's got his name phip is gonna take it yeah because dude we've been skating a lot together lately and philppe it's just incredibly consistent on like crazy tricks like you know not flip from crook Down The Hub a not flip from nose every try not a flip from nose it's no-brainer you know wow not a flip back five a tough one to have switch flip fromont tail switch flip back nose grain all those tricks gnarly tricks he does it like often dude he has the quickest flick that's why Hees that that little switch flip that he has is is crazy fast even his treay flip bro is pretty nuts and how he can get it up like the CR on [ __ ] precise precise like n flip crook like he probably can we can make a bat like have him do a 100 nll flip Crooks in a row like you probably do it damn dude on that that last Australia course the the bump to huge like orange moose or Boost Mobile sign do you see switch flip back tailed that thing he did that switch flip back tail that is complete he didn't do it in the contest but he did it like during practice that was maybe the gnarliest trick I saw all weekend dude yeah you had Gustavo R um r riro or hio hio Trey flip nose blunt Nolly heel out on the rail yeah come on he didn't do it during the contest again but still H huge I can't do that you you got a we are back on the nine club with a huge guess you can do that for that's yours that should be the new thing Chris like we got a huge guest not he's not only a special special maybe when hug guest I like it dude that's all right comfortably I don't remember how he said it last time but it obviously made an impression on you he did I couldn't even like keep up with you what were you saying like bro yeah I mean sitting we sometimes we got to talk out of our ass just [ __ ] out you know what I mean yeah well this has been amazing dude yes um it has been nice dude good luck out there in you know Brazil you're G to enter the contest I assume because you wanted to part what no not this next one you're not going to enter the $50,000 prize purse contest with one foot yeah bro you better get out there and start skating my man that's a lot of money that's a lot of diapers dude bro I'm telling you okay okay next one yeah hopefully Street League you could be healed up at least just be there skating and like maybe not I'm aiming for that I hope I can skate it it would be cool you know I think people in Brazil would be really hyped to see you just out there skating so I want it I'm working hard like I'm very dedicated on the physical therapy you know we'll see how many days a week three times a week three times a week three times a week but then I do like on the other days I just ride my bike I do some stuff at home good good what would you if you had to give yourself a percentage right now on how your ankle feels where would that percentage be I would say maybe like 40% 40 okay yeah it's not there yeah I can't like jump rope I was going to say I give you a jump rope start like I can't jump rope one leg maybe like three jumps what what oh your ankle gets tired yeah yeah yeah so got to build mobility and strength and stability you know huh did the doctors say like how long it would take to get back into yeah I was talking to um the PT Huntington and then I'm like telling her like I'm aiming for this you know hope I can skate this event in Brazil it would be cool and then but but but for me to do that I got to be skating at least by November 10th or you know to prepare like get back to it you know get on the rhythm again she's like yeah you'll be skating by then oh perfect but it's different by somebody else telling you but then but what you feeling right yes I feel like I would but I don't want to like still I'm like playing with myself I don't want to set expectations High you know right so you never know you could come out earlier yeah true same true true true well dude congrats on everything man and again can't wait to see you back on the board posting dope ass Instagram clips and just I trip out on your skating man you're really talented dude yeah 100% but we also want to you know give you something to keep hydrated out there if you don't mind Kelly would you mind give me a couple uh Yeti yeah let me let me grab some stuff Yeti stuff over here dude you know what I mean we got to you got to stay hydrated out there man it's one of very important very important definitely okay so we got the trucks the trucks are out yeah you can go buy them right now okay shoes I hope so so we got some shoes coming out what's going on with Nike over there do I need to talk to somebody dream yeah please let's get everybody to hit up scuba Instagram please go hit him now if okay if the [ __ ] if you could just if if right now they were like hey Carlos you could do a colorway of whatever shoe you want what would it be do you have a favorite that you that you like thank you Kell that's a good good question um you know the dunk is just the dunk it's dope that's what you would do do you skate in the dunks I skate in the dunks but I skate more on um like let's say if I go to a contest and I need to be consistent I put Blazer mids on those are like precise flick you know the dunks it's amazing to skate on but the flick is not the same it's not like it's got a wider toe yes exactly the the Blazer's got a narrower toe yes better for flicking and vulcanize yeah dunk is just like you look down and you're wearing dunks it's yeah exactly so you would do it dunk or a or a Blazer if I had to choose one I would do I might do the I would do the dunk if I had to choose one cuz you know yeah but that's the thing though that's the thing right like let's make it two man give me oh yeah we do one of each yeah that's what they should do actually because here's the thing is like how many people are actually skating in dunks I don't know if they hell yeah they do yeah but it's good to skate on it it's really good but like are they I mean a lot of people aren't skating the dunks though they're skating the F well now it's getting back but or the Blazer or something like that right Blazer and the GT is definitely like GT probably like the best skate shoe dude out there for like for me you know say that yeah so we're doing both thank you that be awesome that' be a nice little pack right there for sure there we go mhm okay Carlos dude you are the man bro I love
