Carlos Alcaraz & Grigor Dimitrov React To Their 2024 Miami Quarter-Final

well I think he played uh an amazing tennis uh almost perfect uh if uh I can say perfect uh I mean I couldn't find Solutions I couldn't find the the way to you know make make uh make him feel uh uncomfortable on the on the coure uh but uh you know it was a it was a great a great game for for his side English mic hey Carlos uh you've had losses where um you've been happy with how you played and even in Indian Wells you said you were more happy with your level uh than the results even um what how would you characterize tonight is tonight a night when you can be happy with how you play or were you not where you expected to be well I think I played a good tennis uh I mean I left the court uh thinking that uh probably I had to uh tense my game a little bit uh earlier uh but any anyway I I feel like I played a good tennis uh not perfect but a but a good one uh but I feel uh let's say B I have a lot of frustrations uh right now because he he made me feel like I'm 13 years old you know it was crazy uh I was uh talking to my team uh saying that I don't know what's uh what I have to do I don't know uh you know his uh weakness weakness uh I don't know anything you know that's uh that's why I have frustration right now but uh you know in the fact of of tennis I left the cor happy with with my level Carlos Adam Ross for tennis you've already alluded to this you played pretty well and Gore just seemed to play out of his mind he was in the zone moving well returning well serving well um in those type of situations uh do you just tip do you just tip your capf and say you know well played or are you going to analyze this like how do you interpret this because again you you certainly played well he just seemed to play too well thank you well uh I really want to uh to see the stats you know probably is uh they are going to rank him uh 10 or 9.9 something like that uh but um I I don't know I don't know once you you step on the coure is uh even tougher to to find solutions to to see you know where you you have to you have to go or what you have to do uh but uh probably the next match that uh I'm going to play against him that I'm I'm sure that it's going to be another one uh I'll try to um to do a lot of different things uh and let's see what's uh going to be but uh you know seeing Gregor playing at this level is is really is really tough to play against him thank you kis um Shanghai was three sets but the second and third sets were similar scor line to tonight what was the was there a difference was there a similarity between Shanghai and here tonight well honestly uh in Shanghai I didn't play uh too too well let's say uh I think today I I play better uh you know seeing uh you know the the play like playing playing tennis I think I play better uh today than than the second and third side in Sanai uh you know that uh in China I I made more mistakes uh you know in the first second ball than than today uh and uh but I don't know I think he he played [Music] [Music] is no time to to get down right now you know the the season uh or there are a lot of tournaments ahead and you know the seison just just began uh and uh I have to to practice uh I'm 100% uh you know uh find uh the power let's say to to continues you know practicing while enjoying practicing uh and really looking forward to uh to playing the the next the next tournament I mean I feel good I'm I'm not rating anything yet since I have to play again you know tomorrow so I'm trying to stay on point and this is how our sport is you know you you appreciate it of course you're very happy with the current win and then you have to quickly move on and and start focusing on the next match I think at the moment I'm I'm just very pleased that I was able to go uh through that match you know to go through it in such a manner and I already have another match to play tomorrow so to be completely honest with you everything kind of shifted already uh for tomorrow but again very um very proud of myself that that I was able to to play such a good and clean match overall so um yeah very grateful to be again um to be that that far into uh you know a master's event and I'm very very excited for what's next feel well I mean it's of course when you when you win a match like that you can say so but again I mean Carlos is such a you know I always call him like a firecracker he's he's amazing you know he's he's no no I love watching him play honestly I love watching him playing I love practicing against him competing against him I mean I'm 12 years older than him so it's it's it's honestly a lot of fun for me to to challenge myself so it's a great uh great opportunity for me um but also against him you cannot really let him let him hit the ball I think we saw what happened even when I was up a break in the second set the game he broke me it was straight up four four hands absolutely nothing I could have done so can I can I get mad yeah I can but there there was no um you know there was no reason for me to to kind of drift away I just had to to stay patient um I was aware of what what was happening how it was happening and I knew that if I had another chance and opportunity I could have uh I could really like step in and that that would have um that would have given me another opportunity and that's what happened I think in the last game I didn't didn't pull back I kept on believing in the game that I was playing and again the execution was very good interesting you say that 12 years older than him because he just suggest said that you made him feel like a 13 that's a great call so I now you you've touched on the there's no time to celebrate um what do you do now going in against who has a pretty good record on just like every other match um as I said you know that there's we have like limited time to to celebrate to to get ready to prepare and right now the most important thing is to to prepare for the match um I'm not going to think from now what what I can do um I think it's I think it's just very important to to to stay to stay in the moment I think that's that's what our game is about I mean that's I think that's the beauty of of our game and it's it's always the most simple things are the most difficult to do and I think this is actually what I did tonight I was just trying to do everything as simple as possible and any execution that I had a sitting ball ball to come in ball to hit a slice uh to do something with the ball I was I was just on it you know and and same I think in a way the same thing tomorrow the same thing every match that I'm going to be playing from uh from now on so there's no um there's no pulling back there we go congratulations um when you play such such a level is it something I don't know in the afternoon at the warm up Do You Feel It Coming uh by I don't know your practice session the warm do you have signs that it could be a very good evening yeah I love reading the horoscope every morning so so that's the one thing I I love doing that but uh I don't know man that's a good question uh no not really uh not really also the past two three days to be honest I barely hit uh any any ball of practice conditions are very very different throughout the day uh at night so you always try to to kind of focus on um uh focus on what works and I think this has been always a tournament that somehow I've been doing well but then not well so it's been a very very interesting uh relationship that I've had with this event so I think every year I'm trying something new and finally after I don't know how many appearances here I feel like okay finally I'm I'm doing something right and I think I'm just going to stick to that um and I think again the basic stuff you know the the the recovery preparing for the for the for the matches um resting food all that it really adds up um um you know it's been a it's it's been a long trip overall the past I would say three four weeks plus coming from California so it's it's been a it's been you know it's been an absolute pleasure for me to be as professional as I can be and um really have zero regrets and and I think I'm you know most I'm very very proud of myself but of course with uh with my team and everyone that has been that's been helping me to to stay also in that uh uh in that bubble if if you say I think I think is very important and I think also after years of experience you you kind of learn a thing or two and um yeah I want to live every moment out there ler hey G well done are there things about your game that you think match up well against his game I mean I like his game a lot so I think overall I like his game a lot like I I he he's for me one of The Craft player out there and sometimes I can put myself in his shoes in certain moments and I kind of can guess so to speak what what might come but I might come it's not like it will um but as I said he's he's so so explosive throughout the court so you really you really need to put him in uncomfortable uncomfortable position and I think and sometimes you need to you need to deliver that power yourself uh in order to to be able to sustain also his shots so it's a it's it's a very interesting game game sometimes especially when you uh when you have of delicate points sometimes you have to play a little bit cat and mouse to see who is going to hit that that first shot but it's it that is all in the game I'm sure he feels it the same way uh he's he's already such a such a complete player at such a young age um and you could you could see that he he generates he slows down the game he goes with a kick serve great Drop shots coming in coming into the net so it's a very um very completed player already um but again in the same time I like that type of a game because it also keeps me keeps me alert throughout the time so maybe that one thing that uh I would say it's the closest to matching
