yeah thank you guys for easier by the way what are you talking to me though I just said a red ball I'm ready he'll talk I'm here [Music] I see [Music] I can't play anything without actually talking a bit because of why were you [Music] I'm from a little town called Louisville Mississippi and when I was growing up and had several heroes you know what I mean Mickey Mantle was really big for me Glen Campbell and when I was in high school the Glen Campbell goodtime hour Louis was huge it was just the biggest show on TV especially as far as I was concerned and so I'd make it a point every Sunday evening to make sure I was there John Hartford it first stood up in the audience and started playing the cello online later on Larry McNeely and I was banjo player still play banjo and when I graduated a lot of my classmates they signed in my yearbook CEO Glen Campbell one day serious I could show it to you three four different ones next thing I know I'm up in Columbus Ohio I put a little band together with a with Keith Whitley guy named Bill Rollins the guy named Jimmy good drove and Keith and I are looking at the paper and we see that Glen Campbell don't we Ohio State Fair this is kind of a long story down but they give and I'm telling it anyway anyway keep the peeped was a huge fan of Glenn also and so we decided we were going to go out to the fair to seek Lincoln and we did and we were completely blown away as we knew we would be then we went out to the Midway for a little while goofed around and then on the way back to our car we had to pass right by the dressing rooms which were trailers by the way the Ohio State Fair and as we were going by I looked over to the left and I saw Larry McNeely standing there talking to some people signing some autographs talking to some folks and so Keith and I walked over I wanted to say hello to him I've never met Larry but I was a very big fan of his of his plane and so I did and I walked up and I stuck out my hand and sit there Larry my name's Carl Jackson I just want to tell you how much I enjoyed the show but he said Carl Jackson I love your plan what are you doing up here I didn't even know who I was and I said well I'm up here keep the night informed with a bluegrass group I had I had worked with Jim and Jesse by the way which is bluegrass icons that had been on the Opry and Larry had worked with Roy Acuff before he worked with clams so that's that's how I knew but I'd never officially met and he said what are you doing tomorrow I said well nothing really we're just kind of hanging out we've got a show coming up tomorrow night or something he said won't you come out of Mar on let's do some playing I said well okay I'll do that so I go by the next day and there's Larry he gets out his banjo he asked me to get my now me and he plays a couple of things we play couple things together but then mostly he starts going play this and he'd ask me for a ten and I play it for him and then he asked me do you play guitar and I said well yeah play a little bit and then he looked over Madison would you like to have this job yeah and he said he said well you know I've been trying to find somebody that could replace me and said you can do it he said give me just a minute and so I know what he was doing but he got up and he left and he he came back about three four minutes ladies that come with me and he takes me over to the next trailer over and I'll walk in and there sits Glen Campbell my hero and he's there and he kind of puts me through the state sorry I'm about to cry but it's not there's a lot of cigarette smoke too so I can't if I choke up Deardon singing just for I can't do it I can't help it I'm so allergic to it and people are smoking outside and became fool me sorry anyway he starts asking me said well can you play this yeah and you know he was asking me for a standard you know I'm talking about a breakdown Rocky Top and things like that you know yeah I play to perform and then I remember you anything like a little rock get away yeah so I played a little Little Rock getaway on the banjo for him and he said do you play guitar I said well yeah I play a little bit at the time I knew just about everything you've ever done you know I don't remember it now but I didn't know anything but anyway I played a little guitar for him and then he asked me if I could play the claw yeah played the claw for him and he looked over at busy city how much would you like to make 18 year old Lisa a migit box makes it you're hired did you go home get your stuff together dan schneider call you yeah so i did i had to go back and tell Keith and the other guys that was quitting the band everybody and I went home to Mississippi Stan Schneider called and in 1972 I went to work with the land right before up turn 19 years old and spent 12 of the best years of my life well as far as I'm concerned the greatest singer that's ever walked this planet [Music] and he worked that wasn't long enough and I will tell you just a little bit about this song I want to I went out
