I love how excited Kumail was about second place.
Nikasaur!
Wil missed an 8 point monastery for himself I believe.
Can't wait for this discussion on next week's Co-Optional podcast.
For those keeping track, all three regulars have now been on TableTop, with a combined record of spoiler: Dodger Leigh stomped everyone at Alhambra, John "TotalBiscuit" Bain was unfortunately out-bearded in King of Tokyo, and Jesse spoiler on today's show.
This is one of my favorite games. My dad brother and i play it all the time. Its probably my favorite light euro game sine its quick to play and has some great expansions. tweaking the rules to give players a hand also adds more depth to the game and i reccommend that rule tweak for more experienced gamers.
Carcassonne was my gateway game and still remains my favorite game to this day. It is really easy to pick up and play with new boardgamers, the strategy can be incredibly deep, it's full of risks and rewards, has a fair amount of negotiation, and multiple strategies can pay off. Granted, inns and cathedrals and traders and builders are almost necessary to make the game reach it's fullest potential, but when it reaches that potential, I've never experienced a more gripping and delightful board game experience.
Carcassonne big box (with inns and cathedrals, traders as builders, abbey and mayor, dragon and princess, and bridges castles and bazaars) is a worthy investment. You'll love it, I guarantee it.
I'm confused when they say the river is an expansion. I just got this game for xmas and it comes with the river in it.
There was so much fluff in this episode. It wasn't very good imo. The game itself is great, but it made for a mostly boring episode.
I don't know why but I just cannot stand Carcassonne. Granted, I have not played with the expansions which I hear help a lot, but it's just so random and boring.
