sheet d my name is andrew denny i'm joined here on my left by mr john shea john the former board chair of curling canada board of directors john how you doing this evening i'm well yourself andrew yeah no complaints on my end sir happy to be watching this live curling once again as uh we've got an all-western matchup waiting for us between alberta's team laura walker and british columbia's team coryn brown now this game the second in a series of tiebreakers uh to determine the final trials birth uh here in ottawa from the trials direct entry event casey scheidegger and kelsey rock already locking up spots in this event and they will go to the tim hortons olympic trials in saskatoon saskatchewan this game is the remaining one and uh one of those win if you're winning you're in situations going through our rosters here laura walker playing skip for team walker will be followed by third kate cameron second taylor mcdonald and lead heather rogers for the kamloops bc rink of corin brown corn brown is the skip third it will be aaron pincott and a long time third at that second is desiree hawes and that'll be rounded off by lead samantha fisher as you see fisher settle into the hack here we're going to open up action in the first end from here forward now corey brown forced the second tiebreaker by defeating laura walker earlier today in an extra end and according to the tiebreaker rules you have to beat the team in second by two games so this would be the second game here playing over here these two teams andrew have already seen each other this will be their third match this weekend that they'll have played each other and they've already played twice earlier in the year and another out west in a bond spill and their records are they've won two and lost two each to each other so tonight's the uh tie breaker i guess the real rubber match in this game series and the stakes are certainly high as we get underway here in the first absolutely a trial spot is huge and a reminder that uh even the team that is defeated in this match will uh still be granted a birth into the home hardware pre-trials in liverpool nova scotia but uh you'd much rather just take the direct route win this game and book your ticket to saskatoon tonight no argument with that call there as we'll see a corner guard be placed here we assume both teams are going to play aggressively here to get us started they're well versed with this sheet and this ice at this point this is uh this will be it this is the final game here of these events here in ottawa the end of the line yeah that will actually be drawn into the house and slip a little deep nothing wrong with that stone back there please start nice heather ted now walker will be aggressive here if she has the hammer knows the ice well uh as as does brown so these two teams here i think won't be shy to put some rocks in play early in the game tonight certainly a lot of value in playing aggressively early jump out to an early lead and coast the rest of the way but it won't be easy as both these teams are extremely skilled rogers rolls out there with her turn hits same same excuse me i should say fisher excuse me samantha fisher couple feet left to the same my apologies nothing to worry about john and you'll notice that uh heather rogers wearing nadine scotland's uniform is she sparing this week still running this is still running there it goes trying now according to lynn kraviasig needing a new mother 14 7. will continue to draw in behind the t-line that's a good spot for that rock you leave that above t you leave the hit and roll back so that's a very safe spot desiree has now with her first weight playing that control out turn uh hit they start they'll be looking to stick here clean all the way indeed both these teams represented their provinces at the 2020 and 21 scotty's tournament of hearts so a lot of experience playing on arenas nice throw there by desiree nice hit and roll taylor mcdonald now for team laura walker [Music] she'll be throwing into a little bit of a newer path here as uh most teams don't run the center line too often in their practice sessions before the game as they try to carve the stone to the nose and that'll flip to the edge and spill out of the house nice top four here so not a bad idea to run some hits up that centerline side good everything flushed out yeah yeah we're seeing karim brown here calling a turn draw around the center guard here for desiree hawes desiree a two-time participant in the uh women's heart terminal of hearts it's a dream come true to play in a scotty's tournament of hearts so to get to play in two of them even better as they'll carve this stone in as it settles into the full eight foot mostly buried behind that short guard yeah lower walker will waste no time to get the broom down and play the angle back taylor mcdonald now with her second i'm playing a run back here try and clean this up [Music] still accomplish the result just didn't spill the shooter yeah i did absolutely nothing and i almost felt aaron pincott now settling into the hack [Music] pretty good as we mentioned team brown won the first tiebreaker between these two teams earlier this afternoon in an extra end yep and that was a match that if laura walker had won she would have booked her ticket to the trials since she was the second seated team lots of room loads of room so this will be the third opportunity now for laura walker to clinch a spot at the trials certainly a little more urgency in this one as this is the end of the line win or lose nice swirl there by aaron pincott sure yeah a lot more separation there between that uh long guard and then we played on the next one yeah 15. okay yeah same as draw to the button okay cameron now for team laura walker it's right up there mine's good you can go early you can go around mine's good wait only group room no bounce room lines close no bounce still needs to curl there it goes heather always [Music] that's a beautiful shot well executed lots of communication there yeah yeah you heard laura walker say no bounce the whole way you don't want to chap and flip open and they make no mistake we'll see ping cod here she's been called to draw on top of this freeze on top of that red one no no no yeah come sit right on top of that top red and you'll shorten up the scoring zone here for laura walker who has hammer in the first this rock's certainly tracking yeah a little more weight than our first one indeed as that'll slip by the pile laura walker on the sweep we'll carry that to the back 12. there's an opportunity here for walker to put a second stone in uh play here and for a second shot freezing top of her red one i thought it was a hair tie yeah if you great shot there looks like they're lying one two now andrew yeah and uh just a little over buried so the angle on that double is not a friendly one for corinne brown yeah i like that this will jam but if you rip this it's not getting into the world yeah is that too much so karen brown choosing to attack the pile with her first here and tolerance is going to be tight and on that guard a little mess here for and brown early in the first i'm looking to make some granite moves no no never oh this rock is tracking a little bit as well yeah she may have just got that one out there a little bit with her release uh andrew yeah managed to pick that pretty clean she did all things considered certainly not as good as removing it from play but uh moves it off that yellow stone i'm not sure it changes here and laura walker confirmed our earlier call that the red is shot couple different options here for laura walker looks like she's gonna promote that red stone or just draw into the back of the yellow taking the intern side here yeah walker's first throw the end team walker to the savile sports center onwell to many critters in ontario as former laura crocker from the scarborough current club indeed the pride of scarborough ontario now makes our home out in alberta walkers first here in the first end [Music] if you can yep giving lots of encouragement to her sweepers here just trying to squeak it by it's fine we got chaps off that uh rocking the top four i think they got a little more curler to that and they anticipated the rub actually doesn't end up hurting her actually andrews now that uh that red is now lined up to jam on that yellow one there as it's very difficult to get to the nose of that rock that walker just threw because of the center guard that's in play indeed it would be uh the only way you could remove that one from play is with something quiet and then flip to the inside and no guarantee you'll be shot after that so if i if i discard this so laura firmly sitting too and coryn brown now discussing just surrendering the deuce it looks like well leaving her definitely with one she doesn't want to leave her an easy shot here to potentially get four so she's trying to uh she's looking at the guard here if she doesn't want to leave walker that opportunity to use the redstone she just threw to punch forward and take out that yellowstone and leave herself lying four potentially yeah that would be a uh a very early cookie for laura walker if uh if corey brown chooses to leave it but that's what i'm thinking is anywhere in this line thinking that she's going to try and stymie laura walker's path to that rock here i don't really have to go i don't think you have to be up to it yeah more of a line shot right yeah and so you heard it there more of a line shot right top eight yeah location certainly matters but the depth battering less than where it rests brown and pink cod have been playing with each other for a long time since they were 11 years old um you know almost as we were commenting before the game andrew was uh aaron like holmen and miscue and uh certainly nice to have some familiarity on your team where you can openly communicate and understand each other's emotions and needs let's go right in there a lot of balancing of uh same ice the personalities on the curling squad well they've decided they're going to go and draw in and top around here get another yellow rock in play here hopefully taking away the angle then on that red potential red rays on the internet side corn browns final stone here in the first mine's good yep oh well then no no no waiting for this rock to curl she doesn't want to leave this lined up here and she'll change the angle on it just a bit and promote laura to second shot yeah we'll see walker quickly uh take the opportunity to drive draw for her three now you only have to be there yeah three in the first is uh it's gangbusters i think it's good you gotta be very happy with a open draw to the forefoot for a three spot is basically taking out a play the potential for four as that yellow rock is just buried enough that to hit it on the nose it just isn't quite there so this is the the safer and smarter play here you've got your deuce try and make it three and take a commanding lead after the first end final stone in one coming up okay keep it out if you can line's fine lines fine pulse yep if you can [Music] wait only rogers and mcdonald on the suite line's great if you're t-line 14-6 it's really curling it's always heather weight looks sit and bite the button for a three spot here in the first well judged by the sweepers there absolutely that is not an easy rock to manage as that was out there for a while and a 14-6 hog to hog time is a little slower than what we've seen so far this week so definitely a good gut check for those sweepers and they pass with flying colors no well they're the only game out there in the on the five-sheet arena right now so speed is going to be a little bit different than compared to when there's five games going on indeed the amount of heat load in the building certainly a little a little different and on the fact we have no spectators either during uh and during this event as well do we count as spectators is that i don't think we do [Laughter] three nothing laura walker leads after one and so corey brown will have the hammer in the second and a little behind the eight ball to start but uh certainly not an insurmountable lead as we saw saw brown in the last game and she was able to produce uh you know three a couple of times in that game and you know had the potential to actually even score more than three in the uh the ninth end of the the prior game so uh i i'm quite confident the brown team will have no uh issue here trying to uh get make their deuce or and score some points in this game so both teams being aggressive i think we're going to see some lots of points in this game score early and curling here you're just a little sunk on the broom going down just clean i think clean it otherwise she didn't say anything about the sharpness a great time to bring your a game nice how's that you're tight i don't think you need to finish it if you're tight then i won't behind the tee nice pair and then roll i like the other way team casey scheidegger and team kelsey rock having already punched their tickets to the home hardware for the tim hortons olympic trials perfect nice light weight shot just through she's indicating yeah she'd just uh be happy if they could put this red rock into the back of the rings here they can't remove it out of play with the five rock rule in place still yeah then face down she's trying to keep that front open if she can just do it red shot into the 12 foot and spilled to a corner well executed shot there andrew that uh leaves her off with a couple of corner guards and she pretty and she punched that other red rock out into the open so it's fully accessible yeah hard to ask for any more really good yeah taylor macdonald now with her first mine's good little bit kate no line's good line's good weight's fine running a bit four feet it's gonna be heather's off wait as long as you can wait as long as you can yep go ahead now yep line up trying to play another guard here yeah okay just trying to get this to curl up just a little bit it sounds like it's just going to bite taylor good judge 16 same spot on the center line just a couple feet deeper high so the double will now come into play for cory brown as she can then roll her shooter behind the cover the corner guard yeah yeah if they're ever lights up desiree has now for team core and brown [Music] [Music] get to knows and jam up a bit spill that red stone to the edge of the forefoot a lot of yellow up front right now walker wants to remove one of those and uh doesn't want to leave brown with the opportunity to play one of those rocks as a run back or a tap so she'll replace this one with a red rock hopefully and place it in the same spot yeah and uh good uh good awareness there to understand that that's a dangerous rock for laura walker despite it not being in the house certainly a rock that could be a problem for her so she's gonna choose to squash that bug early that will bump and roll ten and a half great way taylor one of ten packs well placed 10 wide yeah nice day still a little open so the freeze is now in play to be honest even if that is a perfect guard the freeze is still in play so shot selection probably not changing for corey brown just enough my weight's good wait wait close yep yep fine only oh wait desiree haws with her second [Music] just a little short on the weights managed to clear the guard though so it didn't overcurl the guard was my first thought it looks pretty tight to make that here yeah that freeze may no longer be an option for corey brown now is that yellow yellow stone will be impeding the path like can they make this red or yellow red run just probably asked i mean the other thing we could do is just plant safety okay cameron coming down here i will look at things with uh discuss with laura walker what the do we actually need to straight guard this or should we be guarding the hole as long as we don't leave a hole like this right like even then she has half of the straw okay so i think if there's this much separation yeah she's lucky to hit this one so i'm seeing like a straight split center hair on this side is a mess yeah or even like yeah like here i think it's really good she doesn't have a whole lot of like make her let her make it and then it's right like that's what i'm seeing because otherwise i think she'll probably keep going without a broom length so i think the shot is to split the line yep but the tolerance is on this side i think we've seen this out a few times i think we've seen this a lot she wants this dot right there so is that like a room out so the consensus has been made and you'll notice that conversation boiled down to two simple facts where they want it and where the tolerance is that's a good habit to have yes and they're also uh playing the out turn here they know this side a little bit better to put that guard up so yeah no point in trudging through territory you're not familiar with as kate cameron delivers mine's a little tight if anything can you go a bit early just gotta sit good good and that will stop just barely on the center one yeah still a hole there tight at that though yeah not easy to navigate but uh it's a little tight it certainly still exists for corey brown i like hitting the red and rolling maybe catch it on the side this one yeah try catch there yep ten and a half would you like ten uh probably a ten okay so when discussing the weight corn brown places the broom looking for a double and spill the shooter onto the house very difficult shot because she's going to have to hit the low side of this red rock here to redirect it in onto the other red rock and the house and the 12 foot and then double them out yeah you have to balance the weight required to throw the double and the lack of weight required to stick around but not the result they were looking better laura i for going to throw this uh grant laura walker an opportunity to replace that stone even better yeah i think it's gonna be hot a lot of rocks and play all of a sudden up front yeah a lot of traffic starting to build up here in this second end laura walker's still sitting too kate cameron's second here in the second end mine's good little bit taylor it's really moving yeah it's going sideways let it sit let it sit and this rock like really moving doing something funny that jumped big it sits it's got a chance i kind of reacted like a grab paint i wouldn't read i thought i threw that okay me too yeah i'm thinking i also grabbed it took a very strange trajectory an opportunity here now for uh for brown it's not easy but she can only play it with tap weight i think she can't see all that yellow rock from the hack she's gonna have to play this with softer weights yeah not a complete waste for kate cameron laura walker there is it is still a useful stone just uh not exactly where they wanted it they're in pin cod now with her second a little bit closer really close this rock will be through the gap need a little bit of finish an excellent throw there from aaron pincott could be an end saver well i think they're breathing a little bit easier right now than uh they were about 60 seconds ago laura walker believes she can access this rock well the way this ice has been moving the last number of days here this should be able she should be able to get this yeah even if uh just hit a corner of it and then roll behind cover it should run for a bit but it will curl once again laura walker a former world junior silver medalist with rachel holman canadian junior champion playing second stone with rachel holmen and emma miscue and lynn kraviazek a number of years ago walker's first heather rogers on the sweep maybe just rub off that gun still going to catch a piece of that yellow one but not enough no very very close to perfect there just feathered the guard an unfortunate turn of events there for laura walker great weight because all of a sudden corey brown have a shot to lie too for a second tolerance is definitely right here oh yeah crazy crazy end developing here and lots of swings this would be corn browns first here in the second end no no no room no close can't you're really close it's rock hanging out here still they're by now so the sweepers are going to go hard now look at the move there now yeah bring that yeah you can't leave this open either good judge guys it's a little settle uh great judge by the sweepers and uh pin caught there to uh call that yeah those ports are difficult to navigate when the ice curls as much as this [Music] you have to manage your lateral movement as well as your horizontal movement this end has changed very quickly with just written the last three shots and laura doesn't believe she can access that rock on the top of the button so they're looking at an angle run back here if you think like can she come to her own and get shot anyway i think it's really close i don't think so i don't think so then i don't think it hurts again as we said earlier the winner of this will go on to the trials in saskatoon in november it's obviously staying right here the other team the loser of this game gets an automatic spot into the pre-trials in liverpool nova scotia from the 26th to the 31st october there'll be 14 men's and 14 women's teams playing in the uh the pre-trials in liverpool there'll be two pools of seven top three and each pool will make the playoffs and then from there two from the men and two from the women will proceed on to the olympic trials in saskatoon in november this year a lot of teams vying for two spots so certainly separate the wheat from the chaff quite quickly laura walker's final stone here in the second she runs the angle removes one yellow stone and corn brown remains shot stone that's still an excellent result for laura walker no that's a very good result making it now very difficult for uh brown to try and get her deuce here is not the easiest shot you can throw yes with where walker rolled to she took away the draw now to the uh the forefoot that brown had just played in her last rock let's try that then okay back like this oh no i was thinking oh yeah yeah i like that they're looking here playing the double tap on the outside so in the pre-trials in liverpool on the women's side we'll have team sherry anderson from saskatoon team penny barker from moosejaw saskatchewan team suzanne burt from montague and cornwall out of the pei jill brothers from halifax who qualified earlier today for that event team holly duncan from woodstock team kelly galusha from yellowknife who qualified here this weekend as well team jacqueline harrison from dundas ontario team danielle inglis from mississauga ontario as well as christa mcardle from thunder bay ontario justin murphy from mississauga ontario beth peterson from winnipeg darcy robertson from winnipeg as well as team mackenzie zacharias from altona manitoba it's a stacked field john brown delivers final stone sweeper's going hard here trying to hold this keynotes have enough weight good yeah just a little shy on weight but uh good weight angles were closes that'll be a score of one for coryn brown here in the second sorry sorry a 3-1 lead for laura of those names are actually taking part in this event here in ottawa as that men's field was just cemented yesterday see a center guard i'm sure coming into play here right now in front of team brown here so nothing that you're going to do man the fisher's first here in the third 3-1 walker over cory brown thus far walker with hammer this is the second tiebreaker of the women's trials direct entry event win and you're in quite high i think the victory here will secure a berth in the tim hortons trials olympic trials in saskatoon saskatchewan and the defeated team will be relegated to the home hardware pre-trials in liverpool as uh john just just read a series of the participants yeah just 14 teams on each side there andrew for two spots yeah no problem just just beat everybody tough teams starting to move a little earlier but it's okay really tough teams there just shows the depth of curling in canada yeah and then once you get to the trials it's uh arguably even worse nice walker electing here to get heather rogers to drawn just down behind the t line on the uh the open side yeah make no mistake that rock is intended to be behind the t line that is not an accident we'll see brown now calling on uh samantha fischer here to play an intern draw around the center guard that she just placed earlier this rock hanging a little bit starting to find some curl now aaron caught encouraging this stone to center fight the center yeah that will settle in nicely lots of finish at the end here in ottawa this weekend i didn't time it john wall our head ice technician here at this event certainly delivering pristine conditions as is john's mantra okay for everybody these rocks uh we're used at the in the bubble for all the events and except for the worlds but they were reconditioned this summer by canada curling stone so they were brand new to everybody this is starting this weekend has different running surfaces than before and everybody seems to be quite happy with the uh the rocks this weekend yeah a lot of discussion in the curling world as of late about uh whether the stones are too lively or not i'm not sure you can have stones that are too lively to be completely honest and the rise attempt rogers attempt to get by here and play the top out great sweeping by uh cameron and mcdonald there to get that rock by it looked like that rock traveled through the guard that was a paper thin you mean annoying really nice shot oh brown we'll have to follow down here and have her teammate to play the same shot here desiree hawes [Music] [Applause] [Music] and again papering the guard there both teams nice sweeping by fischer there strong sweeping so a really good understanding of how this line is running on behalf of both squadrons you got it just tuck as taylor mcdonald will deliver a little quiet just clean weight's good weights good just right to it right to it right to it right to it right to it encouraging some curl out of this stone as it will hit and roll it may stick around it will on the edge of the 12. nice girl taylor mcdonald illustrious junior curling career being a former world junior champion winning the worlds in 2014 in flims you guys are making me work this thing you guys get to do something desiree haws [Music] [Applause] they're sweeping to save this one and we'll get the inside edge and spill through the house what's the house split a little bit you never like this won't get too many opportunities to remove those guards so laura's striking while the iron is hot thank you you're too nice no mistake there from taylor mcdonald do you like to hit them yeah okay ten five nice you're here heather i'll clean for you good thanks heather aaron pincott now her first teammate team's now electing to play a little clean no just clean clean yep [Music] yeah no need to risk anything well the walker team's quite comfortable being up 3-1 with last rock keeping the front clean yeah certainly a blank uh they'd like to you know score and if they can blank this end here then they'd like to score on four hopefully get their deuce and then control even ends which is really key uh yeah unless you control your own fate as the 10th end approaches okay cameron no okay make sure running still mine's good it's still running pretty nice get it there just an open drawer of the rings here they'll just be looking to bring this into the eight foot to the t line yeah really anywhere in play yeah try and force a mistake from teamcore and brown and that's the only way you're going to get two out of this end yeah mistakes i don't expect to see an open flash but if there was then that'd allow walker to split the house and get her deuce 59 that's what i thought i heard but i thought maybe you meant 14. pin got with her second nope no no no no no i felt like that was more than i gave you on my draw as every other end so far but i've only been playing a very good path okay yep just roll it out pull it out and that'll be on the high side and roll out okay laura calling kate now to play an intern go to the other side change the shot for brown's team on the next one yeah no point in giving a team two looks at the same spot consecutively kate a four time participant in the scotch mode of hearts in her first year she along with michelle inglot they got to the final in st catharines and it was a spectacular final game between uh holmen and engelat lots of great shots that was a classic it's just a little heavy there looks like it's just okay now rock will hang around biting the back line yeah yeah it's just good a little more not in scoring position still in play 15 change here so corn brown looking at an open house we'll just try and keep play in the center and make the blank as difficult as possible for laura walker first stone you're in the third both sweepers on this one he's sweeping 16. that'll coast into the house biting the top eight let's throw the out there okay control good shot yeah yeah so you just heard walker there it's going to be the out turn control hit you can roll big hit roll out here you might do we want to no hey sure i think that ice is good to roll it looks like max to me to know so now the team electing to just play the hit and roll and and force uh brown to play a hit and stick in her last one potentially here laura walker's first stone in the third whoa whoa clean whoa still rolling well executed shot there by the walker team yep trying to draw that play back to the wing to make that uh blank on her eighth a little easier but coryn brown will certainly try and bring play back to the center i don't believe the jam is there uh andrew with this shot but uh because i believe that other rock is far enough back that even if they did jam it it would be out of play believe so as well coryn brown's final stone in the third [Music] whoa yeah cleaning the whole way okay now we'll be on the outside you can tighten this because we can hit three-quarters so it'll be a blank attempt here for laura walker three quarters does it yeah good communication between cameron and walker here discussing where they want to hit this weight they're going right there this should track fairly well here in this spot yeah i don't see any frost out there it's still in still in a good part of the sheet so well monsoon season in auto was now over after uh three straight days earlier in the week of in excess of 60 or 70 millimeters of rain which did cause some frost for us earlier in the week final stone in the third yep clean just clean careful nice you can't hurt it you can go a little yes rock will strike the high side and roll out so be a blank for laura walker here in the third she'll maintain a three to one lead here in this trials direct entry event tiebreaker the winner of this game will book their ticket to the tim hortons olympic trials in saskatoon saskatchewan joining casey scheidegger and kelsey rock who have also qualified through this still belong to corey brown but laura walker uh improving her situation yeah i don't hate that either i'm confident in that answer so brown electing here to go with the the guard covering that red one of walkers to take away the rays brown is trying to steal here in this end as walker does have last rock here in the fourth end certainly in a good position to keep it out doesn't need to be careful as laura walker is about one one or two rocks away from really cementing a good score here right on the lines good just right on the line oh it's gonna stick oh not deep took away the hole guard's in good position and you might get lucky here okay more immediately out to the front of the house too you could also look at her option is that double appeal and you might get lucky there but if you ever just kind of pick that that's not great either i think we can make this this one yeah what is that pretty much touching center line yeah small half let's do it i think two thirds is close yeah so two thirds to a half what we heard for this double peel and if you get lucky you might get uh some rocks in the house moving as well kate cameron here with her first in the fourth yep that's fantastic because like what are they doing tapping that yeah or they might try something into here but if you're all the way to the forefoot it's not going to touch the back one is a guard stupid they're just gonna come around at all okay i think we get there first okay very candid question from kate cameron is a guard stupid 15 and a half even then the logic of asking is not but uh certainly a safer shot in laura walker's idea here to come around and draw to the fore yeah she'd even be happy if she just get underneath this yellow rock here and get half underneath and take away that straight tap back to the forefoot from uh brown at the same time lying laying three potentially yes mine's good yes if you can taylor looking for a little finish here yeah they don't want to overcook this though that'll come to the rock in the back of the forefoot just a little bit deeper than they want it there by a couple of feet and i guess tolerance is lighter yeah you bet it allows brown the opportunity here to play her intern and uh try and freeze on the inside of this red stone here and sit shot three times i don't know if that would do it again i did feel like i threw that so brown can i think certainly position herself to force laura walker with a good shot here and even then laura would need to move some granite to generate that force to take her one brown has to be very careful here if she's a little heavy and if she chops off the red one just rolls out to the outside it would leave walker with the potential to potentially lay four [Music] we're out here can't bounce on this line that rock tracking out there a little bit andrew starting to make a move now yeah the weight looks good too so should get up to the nose good it doesn't so it's not shot stone but it doesn't need to be at this point in the end it just needs to be in the way yeah if we we can i think maybe get shot here too but if not there so laura walker will corner freeze right back in in hopes of sitting too and then potentially looking to blast on her last but we'll see how it plays out that was a nice uh throw though by corinne brown that yellow rock is well placed yep good good job to control the weight and not bounce off the pile and patient sweeping i think i like a hair more if i actually give them sweeping weight it might curl a little and then i think laura walker now with her first here actually sitting second shot so it definitely looks like it'll be a measure i certainly thought red was second shot as well thank you but uh the eyes on the ice are going to be better than the camera in the sky so we'll see certainly a good position for laura walker now she is set up we'll see where this rock ends up corn brown looking to play spoiler if she can hold laura walker here to one that would be a big win her final stone in the fourth this rockwheel managed to crawl its way to the four foot line yeah i don't think it was okay okay kind of wait deal so seeing no other options thanks to that uh i think brown guard laura walker are going to play a long hit and roll here yeah almost taking negative ice here in this hit andrew similar to what we saw earlier in the week from a number sports center in a big game here in the women's trials direct entry event the winner punching their ticket to the tim hortons olympic trials that was a big deuce there for the walker rink making that hit and roll there that extra point being up five one after four controlling even ends is a very comfortable and enviable position right now to be in uh for laura walker and her team yeah and core and brown's team also very very sharp thus far in this game just finding a little bit of a tough luck in certain situations but uh full credit to laura walker's crew who are calling and making everything it seems and that that final shot that laura walker just threw is not an easy shot especially for that extra point and that extra point can make a huge difference as this game progresses laura made two great throws on that last end there uh on her first one in the interim draw and in that out turn hit indeed she did so heather rogers will settle in as we get started here in the fifth laura walker throwing red five one score after four so the walker ring collecting to uh drawn four foot top button being up four they don't want to put anything up front yeah certainly want to keep as little traffic in front as possible and less traffic means less problems as that rock settles in the forefoot brown electing here to put up a corner guard yeah we'll see the leads build this end out and create some infrastructure is that what crosses the four foot line aaron pink encouraging it over yeah nice throw by samantha fisher there yeah routine they make it look easy roger second i'll be kill the front one and roll to a good spot desiree haws will deliver an early sweep and that rock has crossed the nose and ran into the pile jams up thanks to the angles and leaves that laura walker stone in the forefoot she did remove two red rocks and play there so and she's left herself with a number of yellow walks up front for potential hit and rolls for later in the end here so walker doesn't want that in place so she's going to see her hitting this yellow rock here and try and control that front and roll back and uh cover her one on the forefoot here yeah these shots are tough controlling that roll is exceptionally difficult ensuring you get a good guard out of it as well yep we're going to roll a little bit more we're going to roll into the rings here spin on there we go yeah a little late crank there to bite the 12. nice weight nice nice t-line here corinne brown will ignore it all and choose to bring her corner guards into play with an out turn draw yeah she's electing here to get desiree to go and bury one here with her yellow corner guard andrew good opportunity to bring those corner guards into play and corn brown no mistake line only lots of line a little wide as right now but better to be wide than narrow on this sheet back gate yeah they just want this rock to stick around for sure they don't want this to slide through and see the weight decides to chase the one on the outside there the yellow rock and the eight foot and she'll have the op the opportunity to uh raise this yellow rock and get in front of this oh okay okay yeah after a brief discussion they'll settle back on the original call and i like i think the logic checks out like you explained john aaron pincut with her first think heavy mine's good mine's great my last weight like 13 5. okay again line's great sam no bounce on this line all the way sam mine's great no balance on the line though sweeper's going hard here the whole way yeah i had to carry it for the weight and stops in a good spot 16-3 i got on yep you like the same thing just biting the eight-foot it's got the angle to that red yeah no it's well positioned yep laura walker choosing to ignore it and we'll hit and roll in off of uh that rock in the edge of the eight if camera could hit and roll off this one under the the back of the four or back eight gonna make the scoring area a lot smaller for uh for brown yep yep they're gonna be tough tough rock to access as well if they make this good donald on the sweep hit it a little too flush but it'll stay right there sit for second shot nice nothing wrong with that result no yeah roll the shooter pretty big yeah yeah and you had to have known that corn brown was gonna make a play on this stone at the top of the eight foot in order to promote her yellow keep the potential of a multiple score alive it will get across the top shooter will spill to a great spot there on the edge of the eight but uh laura walker still sitting too yeah she needed a little more weight on that shot there too uh they needed to get that red rock into the back eight foot there on that shot yeah so now an opportunity for laura walker to potentially lie three and uh an angle in behind all that would rather all that mess out in front there's a couple shots here the walker could play one she could elect to play the intern and draw in and uh get underneath that yellow rock there that's in the eight foot and uh bite the uh forefoot and try and lay uh i think it's more three or the other option is she's looking to play in the hit and roll into the same spot you'll probably see them play the hit and manage the scoreboard just in case you never want to leave too many opposition rocks around when you're up by four there might be a double there but it's really flat and i just don't we're one two so you hear laura walker they're discussing the double and saying it is flat and it is very flat that is a very difficult double you're much better off playing the hit and roll and controlling the depth of play that way so laura walker will settle into the hack now for her stone in the fifth no she'll roll to cover the forefoot but uh unsure if that's third shot at this point i think it takes a lot away yeah certainly takes away the intern draw from corn brown may still be a little bit of a gap there that you can draw through but makes it more difficult you can hear a good discussion going on between pin cot and brown ears that they have to make sure that they leave themselves an opportunity to score here managing the house in order to leave yourself something on the last one is uh of paramount importance in this situation yeah it's a bit tough to make and stick yeah yeah that's true three quarters high ten five and uh it looks like they're going to play a hit looks like we're going to play the double and try and get that one off the button there andrew and uh open this up a little bit yeah free up some real estate and maybe bring that yellow stone behind those two staggered red guards into play and potentially even a score in this fifth end coryn brown with her first coming here ran back and double down nice spill nice shot there by uh kern brown these themselves lying one and three or sorry excuse me two and mm-hmm so three it's decision time for laura walker do you play defensive play off the third shot stone roll big or do you turn the screws on the end and try and draw in and i don't force the issue honestly like just there biting forefoot is really you certainly don't want to be so steep on the t line or any anywhere really all that close to it is you'll have the double right back off that wide yellow stone in the 12 foot she just doesn't want to leave her an option though for a potential to make a double on count three here so placement of this stone is uh is key right here and if you're right here it's okay yeah right yeah should you just as much beard as we can and then that's really nice okay cameron's describing it perfectly as to where they should be and then this is like a redirect do you guys like this or do you want to just one of the many skills that kate cameron brings to this laura walker rink is i think the succinct ability to i mean i could try this analyze and convey it to her teammates very sound fundamentally controlled well they've elected to play the hit here instead they're going to uh try and play the hit and roll in here yeah it essentially accomplishes the same thing as drawing in you're looking to force brown to one and a two at best and this certainly eliminates the potential score of a three and when you're up four nothing wrong with hitting a little less than i thought i only have half of it gonna call it time yeah time out hey laura walker getting down to the hack and realizing that maybe she doesn't have as much of that target rock as she'd anticipated i just think it's a little fresh over there but and i'm i'm playing it fairly cute to stick around in here i think they'll call time out and we have a brief discussion this can't be half opening right here i mean i know this is a new spot i could do this do you guys know this huh same difference like if i'm here at silver two right i agree okay so so i think a perfect spot here is just top teeth yeah fighting forefoot right we can't really be back so the call changed now to an out turn drop certainly accomplishes the same thing as a quality intern draw might actually end up in a better spot a little more access they seem to think they know this spot better i'm not sure if i i'm joined on my left by john shea john any thoughts on this matchup as we're through five all the key shots have been made in this game so far both teams have played well but the walker team has uh made just a couple more than the brown team has and that first stand was a a big score of three in the first end by the walker wrinkles basically dictated this game to date indeed an early early start for laura walker successful laura walker with the hammer as she's up by three a reminder that uh a direct perspective trials in saskatoon saskatchewan awaits the winner of this particular matchup good judge the defeated team will end up at the home hardware pre-trials in liverpool nova scotia beginning on october 24th same way laura walker out of the savail sports center in alberta and coryn brown representing kamloops curling club now to british columbia mine's good casey scheidegger and kelsey rock have already qualified for the it's really nice tim horton's olympic trials through this event and this the second game in a series of tie breakers between the second and third qualification spots really nice win and you're in try the title as it gets these teams have already played against each other uh in this particular event they're one and one so this will be the rubber match and they played four times already and they split those games as well okay let's see there line's good top four we're hot close the line so certainly a lot to decide here not only in terms of we're back for trials positions but four still in grudge heather rogers good judge with the no turn draw here that'll settle up on top of is still just going on this side i'm wondering if the double kind of goes back onto it though which one corinne brown now without hammer here in the sixth we'll uh task desiree haws with a corner freeze just above teeth like i think back of the rock on the team it's weight's good good around mine's good yep all right really gotta go mine really gotta go line gonna have to drag this a long way here get it by the guard just okay that in turn moves in that spot once you get close to that center line comes off that forefoot line and moves large should we double peel maybe a few feet light as well these two yeah like i don't know if you can ever so laura walker with hammer and uh two stones in the house already yeah looking dude we could just open up the front here a little bit she did have a look there about uh playing the intern draw and freezing on top of her red rock in the forefoot but that's that one kate mentioned uh let's play the double peel up front and that's what they're electing to do as andrew you just mentioned here i think that's a really smart call yeah keep that front open and that'll be tasked to taylor mcdonald so yeah clean well close clean yep whoa whoa piece of curl just a smidge see brown here she's gonna go and call for a freeze here with a no turn draw hair thicker whatever we'll see brown here in the second half of this game taking a a lot more chances as she's down uh three without she's going to be trying to force walker to one or try and steal one or two multiple if she could get back in this game here can't let laura walker score two or worse yet even more that three in the first uh really looming large and then forcing brown in the second to a single and then a blank and then a deuce and four for laura walker that rock is heavy that'll wick off and spill to the back twelve just rip the yellow or one two these two or i think it's more important to get the yellow kate do you agree so a straight peel now after a bit of a miscue there from core and brown's team walker be quite happy to have the uh leave that red corner garden play and remove this yellow center guard laying two good nice row taylor especially having the and six and uh having the potential to score a couple and control the even ends indeed so a free and easy peel there for taylor mcdonald makes it look routine one five go back to the well and hopefully set up some infrastructure for her team to hide behind feeling just do you want to hear him need to do the double feel what aaron pink got now with her first you know the communication here between brown the front end just saying they just want this yellow rock just over the uh the hog line on the center line yeah create as much separation as possible sure i think you like that yeah and then throwing this the other turn now sure this turn where is it here this is two-thirds okay didn't want to talk over the players there and in throwing these guards corey and brown is uh hoping that laura walker may spill one of these peels back into the pile as well yep okay cameron false whoa okay kate a very strong hitter okay yeah certainly uh stands alone in the women's game is uh one of the better hitters okay switches things up here now as it allows brown here after that uh cameron throw here now putting the red rock back uh close to the center line should now play the intern here from pincot to freeze to the face of this red rock and the forefoot here and that's the difference when you're playing those peel shots sometimes you don't get them all and it changes the angles of an end quite a bit mine's good no bounce can't bounce on this line you can hear that uh they don't want to bounce here is this yellow rock still needs to curl up you just decide and they avoid the bounce and leave that hey talk biting your forefoot here okay do you like that or just here certainly some air between that guard and the yellow stone i'll be able to split them both yep i want to make sure i at least move off of it if i touch it it's a nice opportunity here for the walker wing to get a hit and roll inside here which would make it extremely difficult for the brown rink yeah you make this good it's nails we'll hit and flop over that's a great shot nice line call there by uh laura walker in that shot as that rock slowly just came up and just came across the face to allow her to get the inside roll yeah you know it's close when uh skipper the walker rink has put a lot of pressure in all of a sudden on the ground rink here playing the six end without last rock looking at three yeah sitting three one buried there and uh not a whole lot of excellent prospects here for cory brown's ring they need a they need a clutch shot here from skipper first i need to assess the options i like that i think so like yeah so you can hear the good discussion there between the skip and the third that they've elected to go with the board weight because they do want to have the shooter stick in the rings here hopefully in the eight foot take that red rock out of play on the full eight on the center line on the eight foot yep there are a number of catchers back there depending upon the angle that she hits this red rock if she could jam it on to walker's red rock over here in the uh behind the t line well put junk and not a lot of red walk showing here i'm sure from the hack as she settles in rounds first here in the sixth that one will be thin and it will jam actually technically double jam yeah she hit a little bit higher than she wanted to and which did uh cause that rock or uh that red rock to uh double jam and uh come back into the back yellow one there that caught it to leaf walker still line two here okay and now drawing into lie three again yeah sorry right there so trouble brewing here in the sixth popcorn for corn brown's ring laura walker licking her chops though thinking hey i can score a bunch here still needs to execute as there are a few rocks to come in this end walker currently lying one two and four there's the brown rock in the back twelve foot there's a third stone currently laura walker's first here in the sixth should be looking to draw this around here andrew and bury it behind that center guard again and on the top four is where kate's pointing to line's great potentially be another scorer where are you got to be careful in this spot here because this is where this rock will move yeah it's bogeying it's a little light as well so the switches are really working this one looks like they'll be by the guard but they have to go to bring it into flavor a scoring potential it'll come up short yep all right at least i don't think they like that is that no yeah i think so karen brown with a beacon of beacon of hope at this point to try and cut down the scoring area yeah what was mine unless she's right beside you still looking at two here right now she can't afford to bounce off this one either definitely notices and a very difficult shot is that uh even where walker has left that rock straddling the center line there to you uh she's got to get around that without rubbing it and still freeze on top of the one in the uh the forefoot here so it has to be a very precise shot here from uh a lot of pressure here in the sweepers the sweepers make those kinds of shots cause cornbread delivers mine's good looks mine's really good sweepers on it right away mine's great all right sammy paws and fisheries it's really nice all right sam lock it on hard grinding on this stone it will stop just just shy of the forefoot he's walker here the draw on the outer side just needs to grab a little bit bigger piece of the forefoot than brown's rock that just came in there held the line too brown sure would have this evening uh scoring multiples uh three of the four times that she's had hammer she blanked one end and then but she's scored a three a deuce and a deuce every time that she's had the three of when she's had the hammer and for the brown rink they haven't been able to convert multiples uh when they've had last rock only been able to score a pair of singles so far so that puts us where we are after six ends with a 7-2 game and walker looking in a very good position this time in point gap to work with you you just set it to cruise control and uh it's okay if you give up a deuce with the hammer now and you'll still have a three-point lead with going into the next end so yeah you have to think that laura walker is in control of her own destiny here as a uh birth into the tim hortons olympic trials awaits the winner of this match well again as you said earlier there andrew just a moment ago that you know she would be happy to if you told her she'd have an open draw for uh two in the out turn side there if you told her she was up seven two after six ends i think she would have taken that check and ran to the bank and cashed it as fast as she could so absolutely signs healed they're painted that way so that they glow in the dark for glow-in-the-dark curling here at the uh at the ra high performance curling center here in ottawa i i hope i'm on the waiting list for when they implement that because that would be a lot of fun maybe we can put a team in john well i'd love to but i think i might be playing golf somewhere in the desert this winter actually andrew which of days it's been dry for the last day and a half but earlier in the week we had two and a half solid days of rain in excess of 70 millimeters of rain in the ottawa area [Laughter] here a good conversation going on the ice out there right now a little more obstacle yeah cora and brown uh ingest saying they need to restart the game and change sheets obviously it's a joke and everybody thought that was a real laughs so as andrew has mentioned earlier tonight the winner of this game will proceed on to the uh the trials in saskatoon in november and the loser of this game will have another opportunity to go to the pre-trials in liverpool nova scotia not sure in the women's field they'd be joined by sherry anderson penny barker suzanne burt jill brothers holly duncan carrie galucia jacqueline harrison danielle inglis christa mcardle justin murphy beth peterson darcy robertson and mackenzie zacharias quite a field uh in the the women's side there for three of those teams will qualify for the playoffs and two will get the final two spots on the women's side of the uh to qualify for the olympic trials in saskatoon with the winner going on to beijing and china in february to represent canada yeah a chance to wear the maple leaf on the line oh my god 14 teams whittled down to two is uh that's a tough bond spiel and uh with names like that several scotties contenders and former champions and junior champions and that's uh no cakewalk so you got to bring your best absolutely really good mixture of both uh you know veteran and youth uh curling show again as we mentioned earlier just showing the depth of curling and remember that in canada at this time and point yeah incredibly talented teams everywhere and it's you're certainly seeing it through this qualification process as uh if you do this this was created thanks to a shortened season where a lot of the points that would be accrued by tournament play were sort of vanished so this was the conception in order to give everybody a fair shot at uh getting their chance at the olympics and for good reason the olympics are very special and a lot of athletes strive to be olympians yeah and on the men's side of that competition will happen between the 26th and the 31st in liverpool nova scotia will be jonathan buech formerly the team scott mcdonnell from kingston ontario team braden calvert pat ferris holton flash paul fleming formerly the jamie murphy rink mike fournier sean grassy jason gunninson jeremy hardy glenn howard vincent roberge pat simmons carton sturmy and finally tyler tardy another stacked field nothing short and again they'll play the same format as the ladies three will qualify for the playoffs and then two of those teams will move forward onto the olympic trials in saskatoon with the winner proceeding to represent canada as canada's representative at the 2022 olympics in beijing china certainly has to get easier once you win the pre-trials though right yeah official tally was 97. john a local of uh the auto area a renfrew boy who now lives in ottawa here he's our head ice technician here and uh one of the best in canada anyway so as he gets out there and starts working on these bumps which have unfortunately yeah showing reared their ugly heads i feel like if it looks tight let's just go for the top one real shame i think with the amount of precipitation that has uh occurred in the ottawa valley in the last couple days and the building is still draining it is i don't think it really matters unfortunate but a reality of curling facilities everywhere there is humidity and this is a new curling facility this is a former hockey rink which has been converted into a curling high performance curling facility it's also going to be home of the ra curling club as well as it's going to be a high performance center for curling i think we're at the top ceo of the ra center uh tasha rodzinger who was on earlier this week in an interview explaining uh you know how she's transforming the ra center into a performance of excellence centers that also is the home now for a number of national sport organizations along with hockey canada and coaching canada is there transforming the facility certainly a great facility and it's been very good to curling in the past okay let's just go for the top one formerly a building constructed for public servants oh we're back onto the game here and we're going to see the walker rink here now uh go and remove this top stone yellow rock here yep from taylor mcdonald's yeah single peel do just fine right to it can't hurt it right to it right to it right to it right here taylor originally from lethbridge alberta she makes no mistake with that peel and we're back underway taylor's had an excellent game this evening she's curled very well very nice desiree haws now in the hack did you think you pointed that a hair brown looking for another corner guard here still around nice so that's why i was wondering yeah yeah she'll need traffic if she hopes to score more than a couple yeah yeah she does need a multiple score here as i know ends are now becoming a concern only with four ends left in play but you know as we did see in the last game in the ninth end of the last game that uh brown had a you know a shot for six at one point and came away three in the last game and went on to win uh earlier this afternoon against uh walker here to for this of course this uh tie-breaking game tonight yeah improbable doesn't mean impossible and uh in the world of athletics miracles do happen yep yep clean clean but certainly a quick score of two here for coryn brown would keep her close kate cameron very efficient with a nice out turn peel one more yeah she's an excellent hitter we've already uh she's made a bunch of draws today too i mean you can make one a two-way player that does it all and you really hear the maturity and approach that she brings to this laura walker team discussing strategy you know getting everybody on the same page a real someone you love to have on your team with those qualities absolutely very hard to find it extremely rare valuable it's like striking gold well it's finding that combination it works well between you know four individuals in a team but even bigger with the uh having a skip and a third being able to work with each other well and complementing each other and brown here calling another corner guard as well executed both teams playing well this evening might be able to catch the back of it yeah a lot of made shots same throat yeah cameron again here with her out turned hit around might be lined up for the double little more set whoa well no no no no no no no then off the first and yeah splits the uprights but yeah no damage done in the house no they're fine with that you did hear uh laura walker comment there is after kate cameron released the rock that there was a bit more of a set compared to our first one yeah rather rather hit that thing then hit it on the nose certainly throwing to tolerance successful in that attempt at appeal let's see brown change the strategy here she's now going to be coming in to the rings here at this rock from aaron pincott around that's creepy yeah only three yellow rocks left to come including this one in the end it's time to get into the house and start mucking it up i'll try and get this rock into a good position above this redstone and flip behind cover that's an excellent throw very nice throw there by aaron a little force over walker to either run the guard or try it play a quiet weight to bump it i think you can yeah laura can play this with quieter weight there she's been discussing and you know the option being is that uh you know she ticks the guard and picks off the guard and rolls out either that's fine too you know what i mean she does she's able to you know manage this and get this around and get to the yellow rock and remove it then you know mission accomplished absolutely like you said john keep it simple i think we just peel it down that'll be the name of the game here for laura walker right the most i get is two if you do that well and as we just heard the team uh both laura and uh kate discussing they're just gonna go and play the peel which is a which is a smart call here as as they said you know the most they can give up here is a deuce that way yeah and giving up a two is entirely acceptable if you're laura walker she prepares her first here in the seventh or playing an intern appeal here yep yep clean yeah you're ready good throw and that'll be made solid uh toss again by uh laura walker's having a very good game tonight yeah it came up clutch on a big hit and roll for that extra point in the fourth if you don't make it making really good draws and additional draws uh forcing core in brown in one point drawing in the extra for a third point converting that eight rock is so important i'm not deucing in five yep so we'll see uh brown here attempting to remove the red rock and roll over into the wings to make the double much more difficult than if she's uh yeah i don't know it's all kind of blended round with her first and the seventh yep on it early yep anything dez okay ears nosing oh guys that will come to the face and roll just a smidge it looks like a fairly terribly made double here then quarter that's the hairball right almost the same line that uh walker threw in her first one here just rocks in there a little bit is in the house this time i don't think that's a bad idea so quarter rock or less short memory forget about that last stone and on to the next one well as you heard the strategy early in the end from uh with kate cameron and laura walker discussing that they were fine you know they gave up a deuce they were they were okay with that obviously not ecstatic about it but it's not the end of the world with three ends to go and technically you know potentially having the hammer two of the next three ends um i think we'll definitely see walker trying to score here in the eighth and get our deuce and uh you know get that five-point lead back and uh and if she's able to blanket i think he'll be fine with that as well and go to nine um let's you know so walker will be playing a fairly conservative game here yeah you won't see any big risks or uh wild calls out of the lower laura walker rink well there's no they don't they don't have to at this time of point absolutely not why risk it oh it'll be exact opposite for the brown rick the brown rink is gonna have to be very aggressive and uh and find ways to uh score here over the last the remaining three ends of this game yeah you're gonna see some unconventional stuff maybe freezing the rocks you don't normally freeze too bumping rocks you don't go through you know more guards double guards angle guards no upweight whatsoever everything will be done control to leave shooters and pile rocks up samantha fischer here throwing the the first rock in the eighth end playing an out turn center guard nice and high yep just certainly a good throw there doesn't need to be crazy heather rogers being called on here to play the tick try and push the rock to the side but not out of play she made one of these earlier this game this rock looks like it's got a little extra weight but it's still in the neighborhood yeah that two yellow guards are gone and now uh brown rink looking just put up one center guard here and they're gonna have to be very accurate yeah not gonna be a lot of tolerance left you have to be little deep yeah that's a lot deep actually andrew it is a lot deep they didn't want that didn't they couldn't afford to let that one slide into the rings there for uh for an individual like a camera don't throw those very often well kate looks like she's a little full on this yeah you should be able to get it the other way looks like she's got one oh no so a little break there for the brown ring because they got an attempt now to put up another center guard here andrew yep not sure if you'd rather hit that on the nose or do what kate cameron did yeah i'd be inclined to roll the shooter less traffic out in front that way the intern for walker it turns uh a little bit tighter obviously where that rock is positioned on the center line there and that yellow corner guard yeah the way you get that big finish at the end of the sheet it will certainly come into play with the positioning of those stones and then how it tracks as you get further on the outside here certainly brown here they're first and eight mine's good okay mine's good sweeper is tending to this one no urgency yet daz you gotta go yeah really gotta go dez back along that forefoot line that we've seen show itself a couple times yeah tracks there until it gets across that four foot line and then you get the late finish here as we're seeing but i don't think it's going to be enough no that moroccan will be mostly open it's actually edge on edge so an opportunity for laura walker to actually roll behind him rolling behind the guard isn't always the best option in this scenario as it can allow for a freeze or someone to come around even in behind that rock well hitting a roll over the wings here is actually probably preferable as the out turn the intern is fairly accessible with you know hackish to backboard weight wherever brownie is going to put her last one and give walker an opportunity to score two here but if as you heard them say if it does curl up they do have the hit and roll underneath that yellow guard just off the center line here controlling the weight is going to be the name of the game bring the sweepers in for the line call laura rocker we're first innate clean whoa oh peanut clothes that's a great shot like you said john roll to the wing sorry gives you an opportunity to chase no matter where corey brown chooses to go with this one sorry okay brown had could have could have elected to draw here to get underneath the uh that yellow cinegar but instead she's uh electing to play the hit and roll a little more difficult to place a hit and roll than it is a draw but she does not want to give up a deuce here because that would probably be game over so being down five after eight with two to play so she'll be playing an intern hit and roll here too underneath that center guard let's go 10-yard i like same ice so adjusting the weight but uh keeps the broom it's corin brown with her final stone and eight throw this one through throw it away and retain the hammer playing nine up three throw it through that hole probably sorry yeah most certainly no point in taking one you can control the hammer you've got enough breathing room on the scoreboard and why surrender that touch and that's why she's not going to exactly oh my god so it'll be a blanket pending any sort of disaster will never stop and it does not so we get that straight together seven four issue this time to nose okay even hitting it that much with these lively rocks andrew it still rolled over to the corner yep just enough off nose to get it to go so certainly fun to play with these stones and it brings a lot of more creative shot making into play it'll be right up okay i've played with enough dead rocks in my life and uh they're junk now you are referring to curling stones i am yes yes no that's that's for the extra late broadcast mine's good mine's fine aaron pink caught here being called upon to bury one around these corner guards here we'll leave it high leave it leave brown here no certainly not timeout being called here on sheet d the only sheet in action this evening at the women's trials direct entry event this match between laura walker and corey brown like here the winner will punch a ticket to the tim horton's trials in saskatoon very true laura walker certainly prospecting looking really good thus far laura's team here in the ninth and putting lots of pressure making lots of key shots lots of pressure being put on the brown rink here with a couple of corner guards in play and uh you know corn would love to be able to you know steal one or force one but even if she forces one she'd need to take four and ten she happened she stole one here she'd still need to steal two and ten so a big uphill battle here and decision time and uh i don't think you need to run now either i just liked it but if we were over high side it really meant nothing back so you're giving like there for center right yeah do you like there okay you wanna hear less it looks like they're gonna attempt to draw around the rock in the top of the eight foot fifteen and they can sweep it trying to be slightly better yep good call here running out of places to hide those rocks so certainly the right idea and uh not not a super difficult shot in terms of degree of difficulty just a basically a plain draw to the back of the house yeah mine obviously going to be the contingent factor 15 or 14 8 should be pretty close corn brown with her first here in the ninth line lots of room no line at all no line at all sweepers on it early here all the way okay yeah both both sweeping to curl that rock pulls up light really light yeah it is as you just heard laura walker say i don't know if you folks at home can say here but she just said a tough rock to peel here because there is a couple of jam possibilities well it's a lot worse or a lot like if i jam on that yeah and even if you don't jam you might be on the nose which is that's fine arguably just as bad i need to be thin thin i agree let's make it right on the side we're just going to play it real thin yeah i think so okay i think so correct in assuming that they have to make a play at this rock there'd be no value in bumping your own redstone or freezing or even trying to come around that you're just giving cory and brown more to work with yeah even if you know worst case scenario she jams it on the back red one here in the back 12 foot still these are lying one on that back one than it is on the one in the middle and brown hits and lies two and you know she's probably gonna have to roll underneath she's gonna have a draw to the uh to the eight foot wide open so this is just making sure that they have a path to score their one here and on our last rock she wants to be able to score if she's forced to scoring here laura walker's first in the ninth whoa should be thin jam but uh spill the yellow nice rock by laura walker there good call by kate yeah no uh no real loss in losing that stone in the fringe there nice may one stuck around to score another point but uh at this point like this still forces brown here to make a okay a tough shot yeah worst case scenario here walker will be looking at one in their last rock if you roll behind you'll force walker don't i hear warren play it aggressive 10 and a half so coren brown settling in for her final stone in nine needs a hit and rolling needs a big roll no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no right off yeah sweeping to make this one curl just a little out on her release there and she's going to get it she's going to roll out oh maybe not she looks like she might stick here with that weight control that'll stick around so that'll force lower walker laurel need uh full 12 here half to 12. so there's the value of bringing the low weight hit in especially controlling your hit weight when you're trying to make precision rolls you can hang rocks around any any harder that rock may have even flashed regardless final stone and nine coming your way sweepers keeping the clean here holding still holding still keep a broom down yeah i'd be shocked if they ever raised a broom to be completely honest a situation like this starting to go a pick would be bad so sweepers taking very good care of this rock nice looking weight here from laura walker she's had great command over her draw weight this evening yep and that'll be a score of one to make the score eight to four after nine not bad still definitely yeah indeed a good force there in any other situation but might be too little too late for corinne brown and she needs four and ten here just a tie the walker rink will be happy with that end you know they they scored you know when they were forced to but they kept it wide open so the front was wide open for a no pressure draw shot there for uh for laura walk obviously yes there was a little bit of pressure but you know she needed you know half 12 and she's quarter point and uh yeah most good skips will make that draw to the full 12 in their sleep in the ninth end they usually have thrown more than enough to know what the speed is going to be and trust their sweepers to get the job done so certainly you can catch that one when you're sitting in the hack feeling very good so laura walker will get us started here in the 10th without hammer up four points and uh probably go in on this one and then maybe even start throwing through i wouldn't be too shocked if this one uh i didn't get i didn't see the call here but this one could be called to go through as well so it looks like she you know it's either in or through i know there's no option to be short here no definitely not there's really no call just a broom down so an understanding already established between uh the savile sports center foursome we're not heavy mine's good i heard we're light holding pretty nice weight's good from the sweepers still holding okay not curling sweeper's going to make sure that they get this rock in the rings here in front of the tee it looks like the rotation is going to carry this stone to a good spot very nice throw by heather rogers yep half in the forefoot there and in front of the t line it's an excellent round so brown here i'll be trying to get some corner guards in play and uh hoping for a little bit of magic to happen here in the 10th end for she's gonna need score a four to tie this game to force an extra end oh that just backed up [Music] and she'll certainly need a couple of misses as well didn't slow it down though all right a persistent drip that seems to be happening here still on the down off just off the center line is that rock we'll slip in yes unfortunately there for uh samantha fischer that one's just in a few feet deeper than they wanted which will allow walker now the ability to hit and try and start running the uh brown team out of rocks here yep curious to see where that rock would have stopped if it didn't hit a drip heather heather rodgers will hit and roll out that's a really good option to roll out there yeah there was no advantage to the walker rink sticking there as you said andrew they wanted that rock to roll a hit and roll out all day kind of a heidi handling make it go away and then if we roll out bonus so uh you must certainly is samantha fisher delivers her second it's about a curl it's good okay it's nice in front of me that rock will stop good spot short of the house oh no hey probably going through you got it okay samantha fisher with a nice outturn corner guard there taylor mcdonald here there first and uh and 10 being called by laura walker to toss it through yeah don't want to mess with a good thing here so that rock will just be chucked straight through the house halfway certainly the right idea to keep as little traffic as possible brown will be trying to create a little more traffic here with a corner guard call here from desiree haws as they attempt to get something going here in 10. yeah certainly going to need a couple of draws and then a little magic pixie dust and a little luck from the curling gods for not impossible to score in a curling game but uh definitely more difficult when your opposition is intently trying to eliminate everything from play as opposed to mixing it up with you absolutely but the key is now is that the brown rink is only left with five rocks to go here and they need to score four of them and a walker rink here and mcdonald's sec appealing here on their second rock taylor mcdonald's had a very strong game this evening indeed as she successfully peels that stone and actually makes contact with the second yellow rock really great result there wrap it around in a perfect world you'd love to lose the shooter too but that's still a good result it's got no line at all this needs to curl a bunch here andrew yep drag this as deep as possible that'll stop on the t-line wide open for laura walker just give me like a minimum okay kate cameron's bread and butter here no turn hit yeah that'll be arrow straight for her oh clean whoa whoa that's every curler's favorite five-letter word clean sorry i thought that looked like too much well executed by kate she didn't want to stick around and stay there so now uh pressure on the brown rink four rocks left and they need to score all four here to force an extra and deal with this walker rock as well at some point yes erin pincott now with her first thank you close yep whoa this rock might be a little heavy laura walker out to meet it at the t-line and it's out of place it'll slip out the back of the house rip that don't we which one like can we is that out yeah so they need to count this stone yeah pretty daunting task here for uh brown to be able to score four now throw it through i think so there's no reason to be over there chasing that uh red and yellow combination yeah it's not in a great spot already and then uh sorry if you mess around with it and accidentally chop it into the house it's trouble so there's really a split on that yellow one is uh there may be a split there but uh yeah it'd be extremely extremely difficult you'd have to punch it in first and roll and try and split another one on the next shot and uh you have to split the yellow yep and uh you'd rather not do that work for them if you're lower walking rather than burn a rock uh in attempting and attempting that's not as thin as you should i don't know are we just reaching at straws now huh like i don't think there's a shot there to be quite honest with you andrew it's uh okay i don't know i uh it probably score it would be exceptionally difficult that'll be it right there there's a concession from corn brown's rink looking at the situation said uh nope there's nothing here for us so i'm so tired so that will do it it'll be an 8-4 final right there that's a walker secures a spot in the trials in saskatoon john quite a game any thoughts laura walker's team was the better team this evening they curled great right through the lineup right through heather rogers had a strong game at lead taylor mcdonald played very well very well kate cameron another strong game and laura herself made great shots tonight so and uh you know hats off to them i'm sure they're quite excited to be headed off to saskatoon and you know brown rink played well just didn't quite weren't quite just didn't quite have that shot here
