compete against each other to see if they can guess
what their kid buys when we give them 100 bucks
to buy whatever they want at different stores.
It's time to see who can prove that they know their kid the most. ♪ (playful music) ♪ - Hello, my name's Lucas,
and I'm in fourth grade. - My name is Katrina,
and I am nine years old and in fourth grade.
- (FBE) Do you know why you're here? - No.
- I have no idea right now. - (FBE) I'm gonna tell you
why you're here. - Okay.
- (FBE) I'm gonna give you this $100 and you're gonna
buy whatever you want. - Holy crap. - Are you kidding me? - What the heck?! - So excited! (claps) - My name is Marco,
and my son is Lucas. - Yay. Okay, we're gonna
start over here. - My name's Will.
My daughter is Katrina. - Okay. So...
- (FBE laughs) You're just ready to go right now, huh?
- Yeah. - I think I know my son pretty well.
I am hoping that I get stuff right. - I actually have no idea
what to expect from Katrina. I'm feeling a bit apprehensive,
but excited. - (FBE) So this is how it works.
I'm gonna ask you some questions related to what your kid
did in the store with multiple choice answers.
Once you choose, we'll watch the footage
and see if you were right. - Okay.
- Got it. - There is over
one million toys in this, and I only have $100.
And say I bought-- I already passed my $100
and I see something I want, I would have to trade something out,
which I don't like doing, 'cause it makes me feel sad
for putting the toy back. So we're just
gonna cross fingers that I don't go over
my budget today. - (FBE) Lucas buys something
that is his "favorite thing in the world."
What is it? Hatchimal, slime, PopSocket,
or a big stuffed animal? - You know what?
I think I know him pretty well. Let's say... slime. - (FBE) All right, go ahead
and throw the headphones on, and let's see what happens.
- I have $100, and I get to buy whatever I want.
My dad's gonna kill me, but I don't care!
- (Marco chuckles) - Slime's my favorite thing
in the whole entire world. We're gonna get this.
- (Marco) Knew it! I feel good. Starting off
on the right foot. - (FBE) The next question
is for Katrina. How long does it take Katrina
to pick out her first toy: 30 seconds, two minutes,
seven minutes, or 20 minutes? - Well, she's picky.
I would say two minutes. - So let's start over
at this area. I don't know... (ding)
- (Will) Come on, two minutes. No, pick something!
- Acrylics? No.
(buzzer) - (Will) Oh, there she is.
She's picky. - I have $100, and...
I don't know what I'm gonna get. There's so many things.
Maybe let's go look back in the front again.
- (FBE) Katrina, is there anyone you'd like to get a present for?
- Uh, not really. - (Will chuckles)

- Whoa. - (FBE) What item do you think
(chuckles) got Lucas that excited? - (gasps loudly)
- Let's Go Fishin', a Pie Face Game,
the Crocodile Dentist, or Fantastic Gymnastics? - He is into gymnastics
and dancing and flipping and jumping and... So I'm hoping it's
Fantastic Gymnastics here. - Oh my god. I am so excited
I saw this. I love this game. (buzzer)
You open it, you put a finger down, if it doesn't--
- (Marco) God. - You'll get your finger bruised.
- Crocodile?! I've never even
seen that game before. He's never even mentioned it
before for God's sake. - (FBE) After much consideration,
which of the following toys did Katrina pick out?
Was it a Nerf gun, a mini dress kit for dolls,
art supplies, or slime? - Well, she has tons of slime,
tons and tons of slime, but I am gravitating
to art supplies. She's an excellent artist. - (FBE) Can you tell me about slime? - It's super squishy.
It's just so satisfying. I see it all over YouTube,
and it's floppy. - (FBE) Are you gonna
buy some today? - No.
- (Will) No. Good girl. (chuckles) - This might be
a little too expensive. Aw, that looks so cute.
That's... It looks so cute. Oh my gosh,
it's heavy. It's heavy. (buzzer)
It can't fit in the basket. - (FBE) I'll carry it for you.
- Okay. Thank you.
- (Will) Ohhh. - 'Cause I wanna design
a dress or-- and I'll probably put it on the ponies
when I'm done customizing it. Yay! - Come to think of it,
she does have lots of art supplies. - (FBE) Do you think Lucas
came in under budget or over budget
and by how much? $10 under, $1 under,
$50 over, or $100 over? - Well, because it wasn't his money, I'm gravitating towards $50 over. He always goes
for the expensive stuff. I like his taste. - I'm scared now. - (Marco) Oh, god. (cash register beeping and whirring)
Come on, over budget! ♪ (drum roll) ♪ - (cashier) Your total
is $201 with 34 cents. - (squeakily) Noo!
(buzzer) - (Marco) Holy sm--
I knew he was gonna be over, but not that much. (laughs)
There he goes. Start taking things out.
- Sorry, dog, but... This isn't fair.
- (Marco) I'm glad he's realizing the value of a dollar.
- I started off all happy, but now I'm sad that I have
to put away everything. - (Marco) Now you know
how we feel, buddy, when we've gotta pay for your stuff. One for three.
(buzzer) That's not good.
- (FBE) On to the next question. Katrina says that she wants
something super duper cool. - I want something
that's super duper cool. - (FBE) So what does
she end up getting: a science kit,
an LED circuit board, a board game kit,
or a stuffed animal kit? - Board game kit.
She makes her own games. - Mm. (buzzer)
The reason why I chose this, because it looked
very simple and fun. - That's good. That's what
I would've suggested. I'm surprised. - (FBE) Lucas now
has $10 to spend after putting everything back.
What does he spend it on: Nerf football,
Glow Dough Slime, one Calico creature,
or a PopSocket? - If I see the word slime anywhere,
I think I'm gonna go with slime. - Should I get a Glow Dough,
or should I get a PopSocket? 'Cause the PopSockets are $10.
- (Marco) Oh no. - You know what?
I have a PopSocket already. - (Marco) Yes!
- So I'll get the two Glow Doughs. - I'll take it.
(ding) - (FBE) So now we're on to Will. What kind of doll
does Katrina choose: Barbie, Bratz,
Baby, or Monster High? - I would say Bratz. That seems more her style. - I was kind of thinking
of getting a doll now. Hmm. I think I like
this Monster High doll... because it has double hair...
- (Will) Oh, you've gotta be kidding me.
- ...and it looks so cute. And it'd probably be
the perfect size for one of the dresses I make.
- i have no idea what that is. - (FBE) After stomping his foot and realizing
he had some money left, what did Lucas do:
not get anything else and take the change...
- No. - (FBE) ...successfully
haggle the price of a PopSocket down to $3 from $10, (chuckles)
bought more slime, or bought a nameplate
that says "Lucas." - (sighs) You know what? I'm gonna go

- (cashier) No. - Aw.
(buzzer) - (Marco) There's no
negotiation there, buddy. It's not a swap meet.
- $4. I can get one of these
and one of these. - (Marco) Oh, more slime?
- Yeah, that's what I'll do. Hey, ♪ I got so much slime ♪
- (Marco) Oh my god. (cash register beeping and whirring)
- (cashier) Okay, $99.51. - (Marco) Unbelievable.
- Thank you. Okay. I have 25 cents,
so let's get a gumball. - Yeah, that's what he would do.
He wants to make sure he utilizes the whole $100.
I should've just picked slime for the whole entire selection.
(buzzer) - (FBE) All right, let's go on
to the last question. - (cashier) You're
looking at $96.31. - (Will) Wow, what a--
- Yes, I got enough! - (Will) What an accurate shopper. - (FBE) What will Katrina
do with the change: take the cash... - Already, take--
- (FBE) ...buy a metal nameplate... - Take the cash.
- (FBE) ...(chuckles) get a keychain, or get some candy?
- I would be shocked if she doesn't take the cash.
She loves cash. - Okay, let's see
if my name is over here. I'm pretty sure not. Oh!
(buzzer) Who knew?
- (Will sucks in a breath) - (FBE) Will... you lost.
- Yes. Yes, I know. (chuckles) - You know, you think
you know your child. You know, we're not
with them all the time. They spend most of the time
in school with their friends doing all kinds of different things,
so I'm glad at least I know something about him. - Her world revolves
around the iPad and wifi. We don't expose her
to toy stores, frankly. - I mean, it's always exciting
to see your child grow up, have them make their own decisions. - (FBE) What would you say
to any parents who might find themselves on
"What Would My Kid Do?" - Well, don't think
you're gonna get it right... - (Marco chuckles)
- ...because when they have the world at their disposal
and somebody else's money, all bets are off.
- Oh my gosh! Look at how many toys I have now. ♪ (upbeat music) ♪

It was crazy, but honestly, I'm excited to play
with all of this stuff.
