It's a common issue in China, Taiwan etc. It's a phenomenon called ζηεΏε (character amnesia) where due to mostly using computers, phones etc to write people forget how to write them by hand.
This confuses me. How do they communicate through writing then? Only via computers or is there a simplified version that is more commonly used for every day writing?
Probably they know how to read the Kanjis and can type them on their phones.
