Can I beat the F1 2023 Hungarian GP Pole Lap?

for the first time this season Lewis Hamilton is on Pole and is back on pole for the first time since Jeddah 2021 so nearly two years since his last pole position but Lewis quickest in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix and that was really good to see Lewis putting out an absolute shift in qualifying which had a pretty interesting format change which I personally quite enjoyed it using the heart tires in q1 the mediums in Q2 and the softs in Q3 you guys in the comments let me know what you think right now did you enjoy the uh new format I think I'm impressed it's only one race so we need a bit more of a bigger sample size but my first impressions are positive so I I would welcome seeing that again I think and that is a better change than let's say the Sprint which they're trying to force all the time down our throat anyway as for qualifying Lewis got a 116.609 as my voice breaks there like his did during the qualifying interviews but we're going to try and beat it here today and we'll see how we get on obviously we're going to try and respect track limits a very close qualifying Lewis verstappen Norris all super close and even you know people like the cler the alpha Romeo's Joe P5 what a performance from him Alonso everyone is putting a shift in and really highlighting how close the field spread is getting anyway we're going to get our first attempt on the way so the ice open down a turn number one let's see how this car feels on a flat out lap I've got no braking power looks a bit I'm gonna have to push the brakes a lot harder than that let's try that one again okay so we're going to try the lap again that was a rear turn one the brakes are very different on this mod so as you guys know I like to keep it realistic and try different mods I'll leave the link down below to this car if you want to check it out but it's a different one to the rebel of course which we've driven all season long so this time turn one getting it all slowed down DRS open as we make a way out of turn to this overstate oh lots of front and unders I think the car is just really slow because of the heavy fuel massively struggling with understatement second one though in the books as we now hinder sector two turn five over the crest try and sick so this is either you actually turn five to be fair nicely done the chicane struggling to get the car stopped we're definitely gonna have to make some self-adjustments for the next run and now through the long swoopers rough it up so far yeah I just got no front end man understeer is huge obviously our track limits but we'll probably go faster so it's not much of a big deal multiple Corner try to stay tight and then use on the power used to put entry to take a bit of a wider line and then the final corner power that in third the RS open up to the line and it's going to be a 24 so right that's a baseline uh just under four seconds to find so let's get to work let's try and make this car for a bit better and see if we can hopefully challenge Lewis's lap okay now the car is a lot more agile the fuel being taken out has made a big difference the brakes are still terrible so we're gonna have to kind of get used to those and try to get better the big thing we have up Our Sleeve is engine mode so let's get to work I'm going to run much higher modes here pretty fast all the way to the rear so I can slam on the brakes but let's see also increase the front Wing quite a lot so this should make some nice shooting improvements turn one on a third gear try to keep the corner speed up back in a little bit let's see within third gear there that's the trunking up turn two going in a bit earlier there to try and get the nose into the corner power down this time easy for that through three into four we go six gear this time carrying way more speed turn five pulling into four a bit of understood just about within track limits Japan's gonna be trouble on the braking but we make it through and now into the swoopers take an F4 for this time using lots more curve we have trouble here in this right hand the last time still wide track limits but a lot better two seconds up right now that's where you had sector three avoid that inside curb which is quite higher another far on the corner I think the third the back end Sliding Away as we cross the line Seventeen nine 2.5 second Improvement that's more like it had to wrestle the car around on that one that was a scruffy lap but we're 1.3 seconds away so I'm riding this off this car I can't go any softer than this so all we can do is small tweaks and hope to also improve our driving around here I think we can beat it but we're gonna have to really dial in the lap time okay so here we go I reckon this will be a pretty good attempt I'm gonna run the highest MGK power possible so in hot lap mode we'll do a little something up after you in case we need it afterwards but we're on now the lowest fuel possible I've also increased the wing a bit more so this is pretty much it so this will give us an idea if we're in the ballpark or not wipe that's okay you can get by with that much better exit keeping the oversteer under control making it work in our favor turn two mostly done exit nice and clean that's a good first sector 24 got some inside curb that's more like it turn five trance they're a bit tighter using that extra ring a bit Snappy but okay gonna break a bit earlier for the chicane to take a bit more inside curb and get the drive out of there which is better and now we're heading to the scoopers much more like it on the apexes carrying better Corner speed oh that's right hand up there we go making the corner this time full second up now the car's starting to work two corners remain s this one I keep scrubbing off too much speed oh big moment there it's going to compromise our line for the final Corner a little bit I'm gonna short shift my way out to get some better traction up to the line 16-6 oh that's close very close in the same tenth just a little bit away right I can beat this so let's get to work let's see how fast we can really go I can do this track limits that could be an issue now that could be an car felt a bit worse um too much oversteer and too much we've also been tired to kind of dial it down a bit so glad I got that in the bank wow that was close so job done 116 463 We Beat It by just over a tenth and a half but now let's run through the setup really quick so this is the Mercedes w14b by SP mod link down below and this is the setup so as you can see compound soft tire was 18 on the front and 16 in the rear in terms of pressure fuel was five liters another 2.4 laps Electronics was set to hot lap and motor for the fast lap Aero 18 on the front 17 on the rear then alignment D4 dampers default brake bars on 52 the lowest towards the ridge will avoid front locking and then the rest of the setup is completely default so there's a lot hopefully you guys enjoyed it if you did
