Can I Beat Grant Horvat If He Starts Five Under Par? (Stroke Play)

hey guys this is Bryson to chambo and welcome back to my Channel today I'm playing Grant Horvat in an 18-hole match at stonebrier Country Club in Frisco Texas Grant started at 5 under but I've slowly more golf content like this we just did nine holes first nine holes was uh pretty solid we were doing a challenge where he gets five shots for 18 holes but the main importance here is really just going through detailed explanation of kind of what I'm doing for each shot each and every shot to give you Insight the viewer insight into uh what I do as a as a golfer so I think that's the most important thing we're learning here today 176 bunker in front little downwind I'm really going to focus on trying to hit a 170 shot this thing goes 175 normally so just under full uh cuz it's going to play about four five yards downwind I'm going a little draw here most people Tred a cut with the shot shape I just hit the same shot every single time so I'm going to place a 170 shot right here downwind a little off the right that was a pitching wedge yeah a little pitching wedge what I just overdrew that yeah look okay and I'm hitting an eight you're definitely a good two to three clubs longer so yeah I'm going to go eight iron here yeah look oh that looks nice that looks nice go it should be there oh I knew it was short it wasn't there oh maybe four clubs yeah I think we're four clubs apart but uh sorry dang it I feel really bad when like gross I he's such a nice guy I don't want to roast him I just can't that's okay one shot lead guys nine holes to go feel like I can hold this I have a better chance of holding this bunker shot than making a 7ot butt oh this is beautiful sand too oh my gosh oh yeah very nice that's not good eight 24 ft across the slope almost up it's pretty much across I'm actually my ball has to go just on the left side of his ball so from my eyesight you see where my ball is where it is I'm going just left of his ball that's kind of like my eyesight so I'm starting it way out to the left like 10 in out left of the ball he going to break to that ball and then cross over so I I imagine how this Line's being drawn up yeah you're good oh it didn't break that hard no break wow okay I just saw Bryson's putt I mean just not a ton of break here wow that broke a lot 3 under to three under it is all tied up I'm two over on the round Bryson is is three under on the round that's not the greatest start for you no but I I still feel like I I'm going to catch fire today I really do my swing feels [Music] good all right well 3 under to 3 under Bryson now on this next to Hole 11 out here it is going to be drivable today so he's going to go after this screen I can't go after it but he's going to take it over the water right at this pin yeah pretty simple it's kind of like number six at don't no Palmer that's when you hit that shot you were like swing and I went I went yeah like that all right do it again let's see it let me see all right let me see oh my gosh it's going right at the hole it is going it could go in Ah that's over ho that might go in that might just go in folks dude is it pretty good I I can really see that was on a straight line on the pin perfectly I can't see it okay I'm going to go on the the normal line which is over this bunker way left yep that should be good yep you're good go I mean that was crazy we'll see where that is that's that should be pretty close dude you needed to absolutely Crush that and you got every ounce of it yeah I smoked it right in the face middle of the face so it was a little lower than I'd like to have been but you know I'll take it if it's in the hole we're both jumping in the lake together I'll jump in with you done this the video ends oh my gosh I cannot believe that I mean he had to carry that 330 he carried that on the fly right next to the pen I can see his ball mark from here let's make a birdie you have to freaking chip in right here I know I almost have to chip in now I know he's obviously going to make birdie so he could make an eagle come on let's go that was pretty good Chase is that is that up to your standards it was decent yeah it was decent we got a we got a good birdie look oh my gosh I can't I can't get over that drive that was wild you need this bird though yeah we need it we need it bad like that's to get to four under got to get back we're not even closer than Bryson's drive after the red shot that almost went in actually oh my gosh landed right here oh my goodness that's a couple feet away from the hole 340 yards something like that left to right down the hill for birdie this is a m May oh how did that lift out what is going [Music] on oh gosh that all all right I got to make this this is 12 ft 1% right to left three in out oh my God that broke hard it's snap on you all right come on nice pot je that's a birdie I think broke a crap ton this is these greens are not easy to read by the way Bryson now takes a oneup lead I'm four under you're five under this is a really reachable hole but it's tight Bryson is shooting the easiest five under I've ever witnessed I'm four under right now I should have been five should have been six actually you're right should should have been six right now so many oh yeah and I'm three so okay I want to know right now what is going through your head trouble on the left trouble on the right you got to be super precise I'm going to miss to the right I'm going to try to miss to the right no matter what but I know the wind's off the right so I'm going to aim it over to the right and actually make sure I tow it a little bit and leave the face just a fraction open just to make sure it misses out to the right cuz I trying to hit this intentionally off the toe yeah wow [Music] okay there we go it's just now L okay it's fun hitting driver so you were kind of aimed on the right side of the Fairway and let it draw yeah hit the toe and let the wind bring it back make sure it draws a little bit so I'm always playing to a side to where I know if I miss it pretty big it's going to be in the Fairway or it's going to be a place where I can play it okay I'm going to go for that tree on the right let it [Music] draw oh get him to get you did he hit it pass me I really wanted that train I think I might have got you no I know we almost got rice in there that was a good drive took a big bounce we got some roll out but like 210 to the pin I'm going to go with a four iron here need something special right now okay pushed it a hair was pin high it's almost like right to left and downwind but I don't want to draw it a crazy amount so I'm actually just going to do like a 1037 iron keep it down now if I strike this really good and it flies it could fly over the green is my only problem but I'm going to I'm going to baby it in there a little bit that's right with me actually we got a chance here if we can get up and down for birdie get to four under Bryson's not guaranteed a birdie oh go go in go in go in oh this could be good oh that's not good that's got to be good that was a good shot there we go got that for birdie one two three four five six seven eight nine nine yards all right so we got nine yards there's another one of those toe shots see where I need to land it between the p Mark and a little Spike Mark that should be good oh okay okay here we go out way good job partner birdie birdie um not really partner but no no we're against each other I'm I hate you I got to beat him um all right that takes me now to four under Bryson is five under I'm one shot back we just have that hole with birdie is a par four so I want I also want I mean you're five under on today's round what do you want to get to I I don't I don't even think like that you don't think like that no no the only time I ever think like that is when I'm trying to break 60 like okay where am I at relation that how many more do I have to have to get it under 60 that's like the only time I'll think about it too much to I'll be fine I just hold a little bit the door a little open I'm trying to out drive Bryson today that's the goal one drive just one drive is all I need here's my chance that was actually pretty good I think it's bunker is it or did it carry it I went after that one that one felt good I put a little something into that I want to ask you cuz I feel like you're really good at like zoning in to the shop what was the most nervous you've been in your career like over a shot or over a the rer Cup in 2018 the um first T shot I hit oh wow this thinges off left I didn't know that the Ridder cup yeah 2018 the first t- shot and I was playing with Tiger Woods oh my God that was your teammate and uh that was the most dude I remember those drives you were hidden in the Ridder cup they were like insane you're driving the green and like pulled out your that was 2021 that was 2020 Ridder C that was the most nervous I've ever been literally tiger about 20 minutes before well an hour before he goes all right Bryon you're playing with me and we're going he came up to you and he came up to me and cuz I didn't know if I was playing or not and he goes we're going and I'm like oh my gosh I'm playing with Tiger Woods in the rider cup what lifelong dream of mine and I'm on the first t- shot and you can't miss it left it's a super tight t- shot and you got everybody USA stuff yeah no no no no it was European stuff there when we walked up there it was all they clapping they go slow clap and they get faster and they all do it together everybody 5,000 people doing it and you're just crapping yourself and did you h a good t i striped it and he looks over me he goes good job that's all I that's all I got out of tiger and he kept walking that's awesome he wasn't hitting that first shot are you kidding me here we go I mean it it's kind of a bummer up to this point in my mind cuz I feel like I've hit the ball really good and we just haven't scored I mean we've had two birdies but we've had numerous really good birdie looks so it's there just got to get the putter hot oh we're in the bunker see what we got from here 135 into a pretty good Breeze oh a little short okay I do love Fairway bunker shots that was just not my greatest still we're gonna make par all right folks right here we've got a shot not from the Fairway obviously and some weeds over the tree over a bunker a short-sided flag 99 yards pretty much impossible but you're about to see The Impossible happen 99 yards hit this just under full come on a little knuckly and this should go right next to the hole if I'm not mistaken just a full swing cuz it's going to come out just a fraction dead always trying to De off just a fraction cuz 60° is going to get over the trees anyway it's going to be fine uhoh that might be perfect that's a good one thank you I'll take that how did you not I mean there's just so many variables I don't even know how you calculated all those variables think about all the grass and stuff the grass I just you know 10% and I said I got a dof that's going to take about 5% off and it factoring the air density and factoring with on the Northern Hemisphere the Coralis effect and you forgot your compass what I really was focusing on is is the moisture content once I got that moisture content up to like three it was only like a 4% hurt I mean this is like a highlight of my career I'm giving a tea to someone else let's go that's a dove all right right to left into the grain it's going to be slow not much break not a lot I'm laugh laugh you know I would give you that in most scenarios but I'll give you the tea back that broke so hard it's good see if I miss this it's a dimple it's a dimple issue it's not me a sweet very nice Snapper hey one shot back couple holes to go we on a driveable har for here this is going to be interesting cuz I know Bryson is going to go after this one he can easily get to the screen I just want to stay within that Striking Distance obviously having that five shot cushion help the ton but just in general we have a 400 yd hole 420 I'm just going to play it on the Le hand side a little bit stay away from the water and uh toe ball it just like that oh car path that's going to be a great angle actually yeah it's going to be a good angle look at that the te stuck up yeah it's Beauty beamus we go and that's not going to hit the car path yeah I like that here we go guys woo we're only one back let's see come on SO at at one point I heard through the grap findind you used to calculate like the air density yeah I still do so like when you wake up in the morning you walk out well my caddy does I mean we just know he goes on the Weather Channel and no no but the for side kind of does it for us now anyway that's why I don't see us like spinning it on the Range before we had the uh foresight and I was using flight scope I would just use uh an air density meter and tell us how high we are effectively right to to uh uh the ground and that would give us like what we are elevation wise and we would effectively play off of those numbers so like if you're playing at 5,000 yeah and so some days based on the air like density if a storm goes through or it's really hot and dry your your relative elevation of the ground changes air particles literally have a different density to them and it effectively play makes the golf ball fly a yard farther two yards shorter or whatever and we would calculate that to make sure that I was hitting at the exact right distance that I needed to for that day 87 yards 60 degree Bryson could be over in that thick stuff over there so we got a chance we got a real good opportunity now it's just what we do with this opportunity [Music] Chase shot up the hill you maybe it was just aimed a little too far right there but left myself in a good position to make a birdie so being five shots behind starting the day you have to be in a mindset of how am I going to get this job done how am I going to make as many birdies as possible to catch up and then how am I going to find Opportunities where they're messing up to make sure that I do the right things this hole for example is water on the right I'm definitely not missing right and I'm not in the greatest spot but I've given myself a great opportunity to get up and down and yeah I can lay back but again hitting it up here is a huge advantage could oh that thing's going to niff off of that lie maybe it's got a a weird little thing here I'm going to try and play it on the green landed three yards short which is 45 yards 4 48 yards 48 yards not the greatest of lies to be honest oh oh that was cool so give myself an opportunity even though it's not the best angle I still give myself a great to get it next to the hole or up there 10 ft and now it's just time to continue to keep pressing and make him birdies where I can and um letting him mess up where he where he messes up oh I got a wedge lesson from Stan Utley a while back and I just noticed like he told me to throw the club head at it and you kind of did that there you like all the energy you stored up you literally let go at the ball it went like this I don't even think like that though it's a weird thing it's more of like I'm going down and through the ball it was just like a you almost just decelerated and like stopped at the ball it was just like boom it wasn't like like I see a lot of amateurs they like take it back short and they like swing really hard I don't do I mean it depends on the situation but I'm trying to get to a certain speed and retain that [Music] speed that looks good broke more broke more that would be nice okay thank you got that for birdie it's for birdie go a little right to left hot thank you nice holy simple easy all right I'm four under two shot lead baby he's got a two shot lead now with how many to go uh four four holes okay he's got a lot of work to do it you never know now when you get the lead like there's a totally different mindset of if you're comfortable with your golf s it's full force pedal the metal and you're just stepping on the neck pretty much I'm I'm scared now 181 181 okay pitching no way down bro bro I don't it could be 40 mph behind me and I'm not hitting a pitching wedge 180 it's going to play like 173 almost 70 actually it's a little hotter play like a 170 shot just under full pitching wedge here will be the right club today baby go oh gosh Oh short okay I got a seven iron here that is probably pretty close be good go in go in oh what a shot that was a nice shot fir up got KP there fired me up that little have you beat me on a hole today no he's right I have it but it's still fired me up we're going in for the backups here I need the line straight puts right here nope right here this is big I really want to beat Bryson on a hole today this one been my goal so this is my chance if he misses this I can beat him on a hole [Music] today oh my God it goes left come on Grant this is a highlight of your career come on to win a hole against Bryson oh he did it great job on that hole thank you thank you guys we're only one shot back now on this big man we have a drivable par 4 coming up next I feel good I mean I'm even par on my round today which is crazy to say and he's six under all right we got the honors here it's 285 to the pin into the breeze this should carry pretty close to that distance maybe a little roll out he's probably hitting three-wood yep that's that is offensive no this is a fivewood no it's not yes this is my fivewood bro okay dude well I got my driver [Music] BR was good no dude we shot just a couple yards left of the pin that's in the bunker it's five wood I can get this thing 275 so hope I get right up in front of the green oh oh it's still in the air oh I I sked a little bit Dy hey it was dead straight though that's a good Miss well that's the thing I could either hit it straight or I could hit it it'll get there but I don't know where it's going to go with my 3w rightz it's not that's cool though I mean that shows he's swinging at that hard in his m was still straight this is a good Learning lesson for yall right here I think personally wet little into the grain I'm going to show you that tow shot again that's what I feel like I need to use sitting down not that great and you want it to kind of roll out yeah it's sitting down pretty bad yeah look at that so I'm actually going to put more of the toe in and just kind of sweep I'm actually going to go down after a little bit come out with lower Loft a little hook shot here out to the right 16 yards got to get down after this one a little bit grass is GNA come up here oh run I can't believe it didn't run wow oh boy wow there's a chance that's more than I bargain for right there but look I hit it on the toe that's what I wanted to do let's try and hold this big old breaker left to right oh no you have the hardest Putt in the world oh tried to create some speed there still make it it's going to break 70 ft It's All About Angles the strategy I left this short on purpose easy up hill Chip Shot he a side Hill lie weird one got to see what he's got now okay we are almost going to have to hit this out there and let it fall yep 90° this would be incredible if we made this oh it's pretty good sit sit sit sit wow that I'm I'm telling you guys that was not an easy putt I need to go higher I need to go up here yep 6 feet this looks straight up the hill guys nice po thank you that way good stroke thank you that's a confident stroke there I like seeing that good birdie thank you all right we're two shots back now I thought I was going to steal on there for some reason but I thought you were two I'm even par on the day I'm five under Bryson is seven under on his round I mean let's let's get some likes for just Bryson being seven under and it's like easy like it's not even like scared a bad I missed a lot of putts today you've missed a ton exactly it's a bad seven under I heard this thing um I don't remember who it was by but they were saying like a tour pro if you want to know how good a tour pro is at their home course they always like range from like 600 to 700 every round they go out oh yeah yeah I mean there's sometimes where they're shooting 10 under to almost breaking 60 if people want to know like what does it take to be on tour and like the pros are literally shooting six to seven under at their home course and not even breaking a sweat like yeah just go a little left well I mean you need to take it over that bunker I mean you can almost take it over that little Hazard steak out there and cut it right off that corner okay so just going to go right over the middle of the bunker yeah is that water that rolled dangerously close to that Hazard marker might be in the water folks I'm going to go a little r of that he's giving me a chance he's giving me a chance okay throw one to go no idea where to go all right Bryson I think is in the water I am I have 130 yards I'm hitting a pitching wedge little window here a little Open Door all right get up there short okay 113 play 120 I'm going go just under this 10:00 usually goes 130 but I'm going to take take this and play it 120 so this going be just under 10:00 don't work make that forar problem was just not knowing the golf course it's one of those things that first time ever seing it and should have took it on the right hand side and I pulled it a little bit but it's not a driver hole unless you're super precise and just not worth it dry this this would be fist pump worthy up the hill right to left oh that's good roll that's good okay I just want to this is for Bryson's par if he doesn't make this we go into the final hole he's going to have a one shot lead 16 ft up a two 24 ft oh my breaking Hut I think broke a country mile wow all [Music] right final hole of the day here par five I have the honors only one shot back need a miracle sit sit [Music] spit to it that's fine that was the toe I tried to hit off the toe like you said that was unintentional horrible toe ball going over the left Center of this bunker nice little Drive oh that's so so good what I didn't know if you liked it or you hated it oh I just loved it all right well he liked that one I he's going to have an iron into a par five I got to go for it in two okay I love this 285 we're going drive her off the deck it should come out nice and low and roll up there we can pull this off there's ever time I want to see something out of VI right now I know imagine when this goes up to like a foot tapping for Eagle then Bryson shaking in his boots they're golf shoes but okay yeah his his golf shoes oh oh oh no oh no no no bunker you had to go for it though folks yeah had to go for it it's all right I drew it off the deck I've never been able to do that 224 this going to be little into the wind six iron mud on the right side of the ball throw it out to the right just a little bit with mud on the right hand side of the ball if there's mud on the right hand side of the ball it's going to draw there's mud on the left hand side of the ball it's going to cut it's good good knowledge for yall 82 yards here where are you Bryson I'm on the green about 30 ft all right you got to hold this out got to hold it slight I won't know if it goes in really looks good I might go in actually has a chance oh right next to it dang even the G what a good shot though dude that one's close that one is close that was a great shot D that was a good shot do it oh oh good pot good pot I was feeling it there for some reason it's a good seven under round for just not knowing the off course and messing up on the last hole I'll take it oh oh lift in W yeah lift in great playing that was a lot of fun that was a lot of fun thank you that is uh I actually shot a one under round today I shot 6 under you shot Seven under 63 No no5 7 oh it's a part 72 so 65 gave you five but you needed six it was a it was a great video it was great that was a great day yeah yeah guys thank you so much for tuning in till next time peace
