the FSR is Moses newest most ambitious most high-end wheel yet taking the best part of the GS which were reviewed only a few weeks ago and augmenting it with even more features which take an already Great Wheel to the next level as it's aimed squarely at the Formula One open-wheeler Driving Experience I've even come dressed for the occasion [Music] moza appear to be gunning to take phantotek's place as kings of the mid-range of the PC Sim racing market so let's take a look at this aggressive piece of Kit and see how it stands up once again this is a sponsored video by Moser racing but as always we'll retain all editorial oversights in the opinions shared in this video are 100 my own if at the end you decided this wheel is for you you can use the product links in the description or the top pin comments support the channel but of course under no obligation to do so coming in at 649 USD the FSR represents Moses current Flagship wheel unlike the GS which comes in at a 300 millimeter diameter the FSI dials are back to 280 settling for somewhere in between the fanatec formula V2 and the larger diameter rims for someone with my clavicle bigger is almost always better so the reduced diameter is a bit of a bummer but I can see why they opted to go for this form factor when you see the average Esports driver the added Advantage here of course is that the wheelbase forces have felt even more viscerally so the 9 newton meters of peak Torque from the R9 are sure to hit even harder about as hard as you're going to hit that subscribe button to congratulate me for this seamless transition right the great news for our sweaty hand boys is that Mosley have done away with the Alcantara grips and instead replace them with perforated leather which means that while you'll have the premium feeling of leather in your hands the grips should still breathe over long sessions it's my absolute favorite finish on a wheel so this is a plus as far as I'm concerned the wheel comes with 12 buttons five rotary encoders and two thumb knobs these are all pre-labeled and inexplicably in a different orientation to the GS wheel I suppose what Moser are trying to suggest here is that the GS is oriented for GT car driving while the FSR is for open wheelers either that or they can't come to a consensus on where they want their controls as with the GS we have a carbon fiber frame shifters and dual clutch paddles unfortunately as I kept reminding you every 30 seconds during RGS review the shifter paddles are still unmuted out of the box luckily again moza provide meeting pads for the user to install at their own discretion but I would personally prefer to have these pre-muted out of the factory because ain't nobody needs shifter paddles that Wake the Dead much less than children the upside of course is that these magnetic shifters are extremely tactile and you aren't going to be missing your downshift Cadence even when Engine braking in a modern formula one which has more gears than a Rolex the housing is finished in aluminum unlike the GS has a few plastic parts on the front I personally like that each new motor wheel we see has less and less plastic on it I only hope to one day see this vile material eradicated from their designs entirely speaking of which unlike the fanatic equivalents the knobs on this wheel are made entirely of metal as someone who's cracked more than half a dozen plastic knobs on his formula V2 I can't express how welcome this is the big new feature on this wheel is throwing you right in the face is the 4.3 inch built-in Digital dash it's an interesting addition with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels unfortunately not being an OLED display means that the screen is backlit and doesn't display a neutral true black so if like me you often like to race in a pitch black room on your OLED TV you'll have a somewhat annoying screen shining in your face while it's a nice novelty I really get time to look down while racing at anything other than the shifter light and the gear all the Telemetry outputs of this wheel can usually be pulled up on the in-game dash or menu both of which require less iron head movement to check at this point there aren't many racing titles compatible with the full spectrum of telemetry this screen can convey so its utility is a bit limited while we're on the topic of utility a new feature that is sure to make some members of the community very excited is that this wheel for the first time in Moses ecosystem contains a direct output so you can theoretically use it with any wheelbase that can physically connect to I can see the adapters flooding the market already finally like all of Moses Wheels it contains the insanely Good automotive grade quick release system that allows you to snap the wheel on and off the base in a fraction of a second before we decide whether this wheel is worth your money let's put it to the test in one game that supports the full range of telemetry output this wheel offers f122 a best case scenario for this wheel so first impressions just holding on to the grips I am happy to say that the perforated leather grips feel infinitely better than the Alcantara on the GS I can actually hold it with my hands I don't have to worry about using gloves because I I don't want to pat down the Alcantara and above all it just feels nice and premium feels like my actual real-life BMW's wheel room which is amazing so let's go on to the session info here the other thing that sticks out to me is very clearly and immediately it's a smaller form factor 280 mil over the uh 300 mil of the GS wheel if you have a regular clavicle that might not bother you but if like myself you kind of have your chest getting in the way you've got a wider clavicle it's not the idyllic change if you will again your mileage may vary this is going to be down to the individual so let's get through the different menus you can probably hear me clacking along there as I use the shifters to do that believe it or not that's actually a lower pitch than the GS wheel Rim it doesn't physically hurt my ears like the GS wheel room does when when I use it in the same room I would say it's about 30 quieter still unacceptably loud but more tolerable than the GS now this is without the mutes installed which you can of course install yourself let's see if we can get some softer tires on here and let's boot up a car setup for Albert Park that is suited to the car a very Australian themed review this one playing as my man Ricky Auto here at Albert Park Melbourne my home Grand Prix of all things and as we drive out we're going to talk about the new LCD Dash in build screen so as you can see the contrast ratio isn't wonderful looks washed out and gray it looks that way in real life as well not ideal on a premium piece of kit that aside let's talk about the actual Telemetry and features it outputs as we get out of the pits here we can see the overtake button push the pass turns green when we turn it on the gears work at the top we've got the speed readout in the top right lap timer underneath that we have lap one pizza P2 by default so I'm just that damned awesome with a Delta just underneath it and of course we have the the battery charge underneath that because we're driving a modern battery powered Formula One car sounds like a lovely lawnmower here so I'm going to try and get a nice little outlap here put some warmth into the tires and then we can do something resembling a pay slap and see where we're at but I gotta say just using it like this because I was driving this last night with the GS quite a bit feels a lot better on this wheel Rim I don't really know why maybe maybe it's that thing where you have a smaller diameter wheel Rim you can feel those lower forces more immediately you can feel the finer details that's something that fanatec used to make their CSL DD feel a bit more uh powerful in comparison because the formula V2 has a 20 260 millimeter diameter which is very very small and really really is uncomfortable for my clavicle this I'm happy to say that despite the smaller form factor feels feels fairly comfortable I can see it being comfortable for Long play sessions but I've not put it through one just yet I'm talking you know hours of endurance racing I've yet to do that but I have high hopes for it anyway we're coming up on the end now I'm gonna set this to hot Lappy RS deploy I think I don't think our tires are fully warm but whatever we're going in for it boys and girls we're going for it let's do it maximize the track Albert Park my home Grand Prix love the changes they've made my favorite layout here at home uh since the late 80s since the late 80s Adelaide Grand Prix that was absolutely manic with its half meter high curbs so far wheel room feels amazing getting a lot of detail this track actually feels laser scanned to me [Music] feels more detailed than some of the other ones I was driving in this game try not to spin very easy to spin in f122 they're very nice a lot of understeer on this car which is so strange I love that section so nice and curved there you still can't apply you can't deploy the DRS because if you did I think you would spin out very very fast it should be a horrible sensation [Music] I'm gonna watch out on the inside curving in this game of course my controls are completely mismatched because they're mapped to the layout of the GS wheel arbitrarily decided to change for this ring for some reason [Music] there we go one lap of the Albert Park Grand Prix in the new moza FSR wheel so far I'm surprisingly impressed let's wrap it up the FSR wheel is a bit of a strange proposition I was convinced that it was going to be too similar to the GS wheel with only the addition of a gimmick in the way of an lcity Dash to really set it apart in any meaningful way however in practice I prefer using this wheel even if solely owed to the leather grips and the Hand molding this even offsets the form factor shrinking down to 280 millimeters which for my body type is a definite negative however it leaves me conflicted I can't help but feel had mosa use the flagship wheel budget instead on developing a premium version of the GS with the same perforated leather grips less plastic better muted shifter paddles and perhaps even thumb encoders are a little bit easier to manipulate during fast driving that it would have made for a better top-tier wheel the LCD Dash offers a lot of information but not much that's useful during fast driving this is an area where fanatex Formula V2 really excels it very succinctly not only shows the ideal rev range but also the speed gear and conveys the Telemetry information in a very useful way the programmable LEDs can show anything from traction control kicking into ABS wheel spin full course yellow Etc they flash in the periphery of one's Vision in such a way that they augment the Driving Experience even when your eyes are firmly fixated on the screen conversely with the FSR I never find myself looking down at the dash other than sub lamented how much better it would look with a proper OLED style contrast ratio so that leaves us in a strange no man's land with these two rims the GS has the better form factor without the visual gimmick while the FSR has the aided Comfort bolstered by The increased price tag due to the display in my mind they're not really different enough to one another to Warrant being two separate products other than perhaps if you really need the direct output on the FSR so it can be used with any wheelbase you connected to it's hard to suggest that these additional features constitute an additional 150 dollars worth of value over the GS if what the FSR offers is up your alley you can find it for 649 USD on Moses store by using the links in the description and the top pin comment below which also helps to support this channel the same applies if you want to pick up anything else in their store including the GS which can be had for 499 dollars let me know what you think of the FSR design is there anything I've missed if you haven't already be sure to check out review of the gsrim and R9 wheelbase by clicking the card here or here or here or wherever the editor puts it subscribe like and I'll see you in the next one
