here are the all-new Rikers I've got the 600 and the 900 and it can't really tell them apart other than a tiny little deckle that says 900 on it my name is Lee ride far and I teach people on these and we go for rides and I know what's all about these things and just how cool they are and are they worth it because it is the smallest three wheeler on the market there's nothing else like it so this is a really cool new product that Canon is made and I wonder if it'll start a new section or niche of the market as well so let's go through it and see what's good about them and see if there's anything bad about them they have a lot of similar controls to a motorcycle same idea with the bars and the foot controls so you'll have like the kill switch and the start button right there throttle I got no levers to worry about your left foot doesn't have to worry about anything the right foot that's where the brake pedal is that does the braking for all three tires so very simple to use you got your brakes right there throttle there look where you want to go have a great ride and that's like what can a Mont it to do they wanted to make this thing as easy as possible and they've definitely achieved that so one great thing about the Rikers is their adjustability so you can actually move these foot pegs now I've got this bent up which allows me to move it forward and back so I got about a foot of movement which is great to play on the length of your legs you can also adjust the the brake pedal as well it comes out and you can adjust it down or up and then simply put it back to where it needs to be fold this down yeah they're pretty stiff and then there you go for that now up to the handlebars it's the same thing you can flip this tab up here and then it allows you to push the whole handlebars forward for more aggressive riding position or if you have longer arms if you don't like that you just bring it right back put the tab down middle wherever you want it pull that down and you're good to go the stopping power on these things is impressive so you get a longer wheelbase which is great for braking you got three points of contact and you've got disc brakes all the way around which also has abs so when you stop on that brake there it activates all three tires and you will stop faster than anything else on the road with an very little skill required so huge safety option here as a motorcycle can be incredibly hard to stop fast these ones these ones are easy so rate where your left foot goes is the forward and reverse so that's forward if we bring it back there that's reverse and then you can just kick it with your foot and then you're good to go suspension is pretty standard nothing too cheap but nothing fancy either it is a can-am so they never go cheap out on stuff so this is a very quality machine all around so the springs do a good job at the front for absorbing everything keep you planned to the road and you've got a pretty big rear spring back here and you got the nice single sided swingarm expose in the wheel for great looks so the rear spring is adjustable so depending on your weight or how much you're carrying you can adjust it so you'll need to suspension tool to do that but that's a good thing to have and get adjusted to how you're going to be riding so this is the 900 model and you can tell because of that right there that's the only thing that will let you know if it's a 900 or 600 storage options on this are pretty limited I get a bit of a trunk here so not too much room and so yeah don't bring too much with ya or definitely get the accessory that allows you to put a bag on it the gas is relatively simple just open that and you've got your gas cap back up the side panel here this is where your air filter and oil are going to be so this can be used to top up the oil or to help put gas in the tank because you could just grab that put the nozzle in there that makes a bit easier to paint on what you're using put gas in there what's really nice I've never seen before is having the air filter right there so you can see how dirty it gets so it's good to have a nice clean air filter as that is how your unit will breathe so real simple to get at and a simple closure but another thing being it's so simple is you know I hope no one would mess with it because it's pretty easy to access everything on here ground clearance is really low so we get the camera that rate pretty much on the ground you can see you don't have a lot of clearance so you got to be careful what you're riding over so which we're riding down the road is a big rock you're gonna have to totally avoid it or try to aim it between the body and the tire there even though it's big enough you want to be messing with those control arms and suspension another thing note is the radiator is right there and the only thing that's in front of it is just plastic so not a lot of protection for bigger rocks I would definitely recommend getting some sort of metal grate put on there if possible because just like motorcycles it's very exposed so it's low to the ground and the radiators very exposed to things that concern me especially being a motorcyclist as well so here's the difference between the Raleigh Edition the standard edition the standard one this is a 600 fairly low to the ground then over to the rally much higher off the ground as well which is good because the rally editions not going to be hitting any speed bumps or bottome now it also has a nice meteor rear tire as well so you do have to be more careful with the clearance of your 600 CC 9 CC standard Reicher but the rally much higher off the ground it will take on anything that the road has that's one big difference and one good reason to go to the rally over a regular one the dash of the Ryker is pretty basic it's a orange backlit screen and it's there's not too much going on with your options here I mean you got your fuel gauge the temperature gauge your speed let's just start it up here your rpms are there the buttons here will give you a few options like trip and time and your fuel stats but really if you're riding these things you really care about fuel mileage but I get it I have people want to know so pretty basic it can be a little harder to read in the Sun it could be a better unit for brightness there but it's good enough and a word of warning if you're riding in the rain you're not very protected at all I'd recommend you get a windscreen especially for the wind protection but if you're gonna go through puddles that tire will go through it while it's got a lot of fairing protecting it any water that it goes through will just soak your feet and lower legs so either don't ride it in the rain avoid puddles if you can or you're just going to bring your feet up and out of the way as you're right through that puddle underneath the hood you've got your battery which is nice and easily accessible it's got that comes with the battery charging cable which is nice the fuse box is right there you got your horn bit of coolant so pretty easy to see what's going on in the inside of your rhykker which is nice because sometimes it's just really hard to get at things not the case here the looks of the rikers it's pretty cool when I ride these things down the road a lot of people turn their heads and look and wonder what that is and they also have that look of hay that's pretty cool so you will get more attention than a Ferrari or Lamborghini rolling around the road which is pretty cool and little kids love it cuz it just looks like one of their toys and that's kind of what this is I mean it's basically a big kids toy and it's a lot of fun to ride it's incredibly stable it's much safer than a motorcycle to a point because also with this Riker being so planted to the ground with three wheels you're on top of it so it's harder to hold on especially in corners so if you want to do really aggressive spirited riding of Riker's or anything three wheels really got a whole lot almost to the point where I wish I had some velcro in the seat or where my knees are just kind of stick to it because the unit's they stick to the ground so well and you're just along for the ride so if you want to take a corner too hard it'll do it but you may not be with the Ryker at the end of that corner which just like anything you got to be safe bow taking those corners we enter slow and then once you see the exit you can have your spirited exit but they're very very capable super easy to ride and a lot of fun and they look great so I don't have a lot of bad things to say about them and I'll point out a few other things but for now here is how it looks as I mentioned before I'm an instructor for three-wheeled Ryker's Spyder and even the larger ones and as well as I teach people on motorcycles so I've a good understanding of both and I do like motorcycles and I like these I still like motorcycles more but that's just me but if you're looking for a very safe alternative while still getting that experience of riding the Ryker is a great option I didn't know a whole lot about three wheels before this and now that I spent a lot of time on it I'm very very impressed so anyone who buys and rides one of these or just rides it you're gonna get a smile on your face how much of it I don't know it really depends on you but it is a much safer approach to riding versus two wheels and so that also allows a lot of people to get into riding whereas they just don't want to ride motorcycles or they don't think it's safe enough which are very valid so getting into a can-am three-wheeler like the Ryker is a great option and they're priced at up here in Canada it's just over ten grand for the six hundred then it's starting to twelve and higher and then once you get into you know the rally Edition and some options I mean you can go to 20 grand so it can add up a lot but having the six-hundred as an option is great the 900 is very cool as well so how do you choose do you want to ride the 600 or the 900 600 900 it's up to your style of riding so if you want to be more of a spirited pace out there and you don't mind getting a stack of speeding tickets then the 900 it's gonna be your choice it's a lot of power it's a lot of fun it is hard to keep that under you know a reasonable amount of speed but it's very easy to do but it's all on you if you want to speed that unit will do it and the 600 is no slouch either it moves pretty good as well so you're still gonna be faster than most things on the road but I do notice that the 900 is a little too twitchy so it's not too relaxed and wants to go go go and the 600 is more relaxed and it can still go so both are great choices about what size you choose is really up to you
