Can a BMW E30 be a practical daily driver?

hi everyone welcome back to the channel today in the video we're going to be seeing how practical a 30 year old bmw really is so stay tuned so this boot is quite large so large in fact i think i'm getting it and we just bear with you one moment just the right height so there we go you can get a person in here perfect so even though this boot is pretty cavernous you can see i can only just reach the back of it it's not actually that practical for big objects because there's no there's no drop here you need to think in a different direction instead of filling think vertically so now we'll look at the interior space ignore my worn seat so i'm now sat in the car so width wise we're snug i mean i'm quite a uh wide trap let's say so my legs fit in i'm just about six foot the seat is not as far back as it will go actually it can go back a few more clicks which is too far for me but what is really impressive is the head room there's absolutely loads of room above my head there so if you are tall in the body uh i wouldn't worry about it with this car there's plenty of leg room this is how far the seat can go back that's now as far back as it would go and the clutch is just just too much of a stretch so in each door we've got the uh customary mask holder for the current day got ourselves a glove box there's a little cubby hole down here holds my little uh australian koala in there he is illusion lives up on the uh mirror but he's fallen off actually all my loose screws that you know that have fallen out over the years and i don't quite know where they go so one thing that does annoy me about this car same as the civic no cup holders right now we're on the road i can talk to you right now we're out on the road i can talk to you about the practicality of driving an e30 every day let's talk about comfort seems like a good thing on this road so is it comfortable it was so when i bought the car it had sock suspension all the way around it was completely original and very comfortable and since then i've i've messed around a bit to make it feel a little bit sportier and there's a few other little bits going on in the suspension which we'll get into in a later video but since then you'll probably find out now it's a bit firm so it's quite firm um really nice on a smooth road but in the uk we don't really have a smooth road so i'll drive around quite quite a main road here but it is also in the countryside um and the road quality is awful and so there's that i mean that's partly my fault putting solid rubber bushes everywhere to make it feel nicer but there we go so this car if i was gonna daily it i'd probably go back to completely stock suspension um full comfort spec no handling at all and that'll be a lot nicer every day noise let's talk about noise so here we are fifth gear 30 miles an hour 1200 1300 rpm it's quite quite loud really for how slow we're going uh so we're just going to be up to 40 in the next bit foot down there we go so at 40 about 1800 rpm and quite a bit of road noise i mean that's from the solid bushes uh and obviously the just general road doors from the tires it's quite loud i will a bit so i'm gonna go up this road here for a little demonstration i will now demonstrate how lazy standard e30 steering is so we go we're gonna do a three-point turn in the road there we go right so that looked like a lot of steering for a turn in the road it was the standard amount of locks to lock on a an e3318i four and a half turns incredible it's an amazing amount and i'm pretty sure they did that because power steering wasn't optional extra but if you've got power steering you end up flailing your arms around everywhere just to do a three-point turn it's ridiculous so if you're looking for a daily that when you get to work 50 miles away you feel refreshed and ready to start your day this probably isn't it i recommend something a lot newer but if you want something fun and e30 is a lot of fun cheers guys thanks for joining me today catch you all next time
