HOWEVER, IT IS PARAMOUNT THAT WHEN PROTESTS ERUPT ON CAMPUS THE DECISIONS RESTS FIRMLY IN HANDS OF CAMPUS LEADERSHIP. THEY SHOULDER THE RESPONSIBILITY FROM THE OUTCOME STEMMING FROM THE DECISIONS, NOT THE UC POLICE DEPARTMENT. IT UNDERSCORES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP. THE CAMPUS OWNS THE RESULTS OF THEIR DECISIONS. AFTER THE VIOLENT CLASHES, LAPD AND CHP WERE BROUGHT IN EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. POLICE ISSUED DISBURSAL ORDERS WEDNESDAY NIGHT, WARNING PEOPLE THEY WOULD BE ARRESTED IF THEY DIDN'T LEAVE BECAUSE IT WAS DECLARED AND UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY. AROUND 3:00 A.M. SOME LEFT VOLUNTARILY BUT MOST WERE REMOVED BY OFFICERS, BRINGING AN END TO THE WEEK-LONG PROTEST WHERE ORGANIZERS WERE DEMANDING A CEASE-FIRE IN GAZA AND TO CUT OFF TIES WITH ISRAEL.
