WILDFIRES AND GRASS FIRES CONTINUE TO BURN ACROSS OUR REGION AS FIRE CREWS TRY TO GET A HANDLE ON THEM TODAY. NEW FIRES HAVE SPARKED IN SEVERAL COUNTIES IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA RIGHT NOW, EVACUATION ORDERS ARE IN PLACE FOR CALAVERAS AND COLUSA COUNTIES AS FLAMES CONTINUE TO THREATEN HOMES AND POTENTIALLY LIVES. THANKS FOR JOINING US AT NOON. I'M LISA GONZALEZ. LET'S BEGIN IN CALAVERAS COUNTY RIGHT NOW WITH THE ARROW FIRE. THIS IS NEAR ARROW AND HUNT ROADS IN THE COPPEROPOLIS AREA. AS YOU SEE ON THE MAP THERE ON THE RIGHT, ON THE LEFT. THAT'S WHAT THE FIRE LOOKED LIKE LATE LAST NIGHT. IT HAS BURNED MORE THAN 5000 ACRES. THERE IS 20% CONTAINMENT ON IT RIGHT NOW. NOW TAKE A LOOK AT VIDEO FROM TODAY. AND WE HAVE LEARNED THAT A FIREFIGHTER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. CAL FIRE SAYS THAT THE FIREFIGHTER'S INJURIES DO NOT APPEAR TO BE LIFE THREATENING. THE ARROW FIRE STARTED YESTERDAY. THIS IS ABOUT 1 P.M. YESTERDAY. IT SENT OUT A PRETTY LARGE PLUME OF SMOKE INTO THE SKY. IT GREW TO WHAT CAL FIRE DESCRIBED TO BE A DANGEROUS RATE OF SPREAD AMID THE AMID THE WINDY CONDITIONS. WE HAD YESTERDAY. THE FIRE DID SPREAD VERY RAPIDLY AND WHAT WE CALL A CRITICAL RATE OF SPREAD, AND IT DID GAIN SIGNIFICANT ACREAGE IN THE FIRST COUPLE HOURS. THIS IS THE MAP WE'RE GOING TO SHOW YOU THE MAP OF THE EVACUATION ZONES. THE ZONES UNDER THE ORDER ARE IN RED ON YOUR SCREEN UNDER AN EVACUATION ORDER. THESE, OF COURSE, ARE ALL SUBJECT TO CHANGE. AND THE EVACUATION WARNINGS ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW. THERE ALSO EVACUATION WARNINGS IN NEARBY TUOLUMNE COUNTY. THERE ARE EVACUATION CENTERS SET UP FOR THIS FIRE. THE ARROW FIRE, THE VALLEY SPRINGS VETERANS HALL IS FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE WEST OF TOWN SQUARE. DOMESTIC ANIMALS LIKE DOGS AND CATS CAN BE TAKEN THERE WITH YOU. ANOTHER SHELTER IS AT MARK TWAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN ANGELS CAMP. LIVESTOCK CAN BE TAKEN TO THE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS IN ANGELS CAMP AND THE RED CROSS IS THERE, PROVIDING ASSISTANCE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SOME LIVESTOCK. IN COLUSA COUNTY, A WILDFIRE HAS ALSO TRIGGERED EVACUATION ORDERS. THE SITE FIRE IS BURNING NEAR SITE LADOGA ROAD AND WILSON CREEK SOUTHEAST OF STONEYFORD. THIS IS A TIME LAPSE VIDEO FROM THIS MORNING. YOU CAN SEE THE SMOKE THERE ON THE LEFT SHOOTING UP LITTLE BITS OF BLACK SMOKE, AND YOU CAN SEE HOW IT'S REALLY BENDING OVER AND JUST FLOWING RIGHT OVER THE HORIZON BECAUSE OF THE WIND. SO FAR, THE FIRE HAS BURNED 10,000 ACRES. THERE'S NO CONTAINMENT ON THIS FIRE. SHELTERS HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES. AN EVACUATION ORDER IS IN EFFECT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS. LEESVILLE, LADOGA ROAD TO LEESVILLE. LEESVIVILLE TO HUFFMASTER ROAD. HUFFMASTER ROAD TO CITES AND LEESVILLE ROAD TO ANTELOPE VALLEY RANCH, AND NORTH FROM ANTELOPE VALLEY RANCH, AND THEN CITES LADOGA ROAD AT CITES SO KEEP ALL OF THAT IN MIND. YOU CAN GO TO THE KCRA 3 APP TO KEEP AN UPDATE ON ALL OF THAT. IN THE MEANTIME, METEOROLOGIST KELLY CURRAN HOW IS THE WEATHER IMPACTING THE FIREFIGHT TODAY? HAVE THE WINDS DIED DOWN FROM YESTERDAY? WELL, LUCKILY THAT RED FLAG WARNING THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT ALL DAY YESTERDAY HAS SINCE BEEN ALLOWED TO EXPIRE. BUT YOU CAN SEE ALL THE HAZE IN THE AIR AS THAT SMOKE HAS STILL BLOWN SOUTHWARD. NOW THE WINDS ARE DIMINISHING AND THEY'RE ALSO SWITCHING DIRECTION. SO THE DELTA BREEZE IS KICKING IN THIS AFTERNOON. AND AGAIN LIKE I SAID IT'S PRETTY HAZY OUT THERE ALREADY. SO THIS IS A LOOK AT THE SATELLITE IMAGERY. AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE SITES FIRE. IT'S RIGHT HERE. AND YOU CAN SEE HOW THAT SMOKE DRIFTED SOUTHWARD. BUT A BIG AREA OF IT KIND OF MOVED ITS WAY JUST ENOUGH TO THE EAST THAT THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DEALING WITH IN THE SACRAMENTO AREA RIGHT NOW. SO IF YOU CAN SMELL IT, YOU GOT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU GOT YOUR WINDOWS CLOSED. YOU DON'T WANT TO BE WORKING OUT OUTDOORS IN AN AIR LIKE THIS EITHER. LIKE I SAID, THOSE WINDS DIMINISHING SOMEWHAT MODESTO YOU STILL L GOT A 12 MILE PER HOUR BREEZE, BUT RIGHT NOW, FAIRFIELD FIVE TEMPERATURES 79 DEGREES IN SACRAMENTO, FAIRFIELD ARE AT 84. IT'S 73. IN PLACERVILLE. AND WHILE TEMPERATURES TODAY EXPECTED TO BE VERY CLOSE TO NORMAL, UPPER 80S TO LOW 90S IN THE VALLEY, WE'RE GOING TO TALK MORE ABOUT THOSE WINDS BECAUSE YES, THEY ARE SWITCHING DIRECTION. BUT AT LEAST FOR SOME OF US, THEY'RE GOING TO PICK UP AGAIN. I'LL HAVE MORE DETAILS COMING UP. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. WE'RE ALSO LEARNING NEW INFORMATION IN THE POINT FIRE IN SONOMA COUNTY. THIS IS HAPPENING NEAR HEALDSBURG. CAL FIRE NOW CONFIRMS ONE FIREFIGHTER WAS INJURED THERE. ALMOST 1200 ACRES HAVE B BURNED. SO FAR. AND YOU CAN SEE THIS BIG RETARDANT DROP 20% CONTAINMENT ON THIS FIRE. RIGHT NOW. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EVACUATED. CAL FIRE SAYS BUILDINGS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED. THEY DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OR IF ANY OF THOSE BUILDINGS ARE HOMES. BUT YOU CAN SEE THERE USING WATER, SIPHONING UP WATER THERE WITH THAT CHOPPER. AND THEN ALSO, AS YOU SAW THAT RETARDANT DROP, TEN PEOPLE ARE TEMPORARILY OUT OF A HOME AFTER FLAMES BURNED THROUGH AN APARTMENT BUILDING IN YOLO COUNTY. THIS WAS ON COUNTY ROAD 102 JUST NORTH OF WOODLAN FIRE CREWS ARRIVED AT ABOUT 345 THIS MORNING. FIREFIGHTERS SAY THOSE FLAMES WERE CONTAINED TO THE BUILDING WHERE THE FIRE STARTED AND DID NOT SPREAD TO OTHER STRUCTURES OR VEGETATION. EVERYONE IN THE BUILDING WAS EVACUATED. NO INJURIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED AT THIS TIME. FIRE CREWS HAVE BEEN RESPONDING TO FIRES ALMOST NONSTOP FOR THE LAST 24 HOURS. WE BASICALLY HAVEN'T BEEN TO BED ALL NIGHT AND WE'VE BEEN FIGHTING FIRE ALL NIGHT AND TO TO OUT THERE ON THESE NORTH WINDY DAYS. IT NOT IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO GET SOMETHING STARTED AT THE END OF THE DAY. VERY VERY GOOD DAY TO BE CAREFUL. VERY GOOD DAY TO BE CAREFUL. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IS HELPING THOSE WHO WERE DISPLACED BY THIS FIRE. THE CAUSE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FOLLOW ALL THESE FIRES FOR YOU ACROSS OUR REGION AND ACROSS THE STATE THROUGHOUT THE DAY, BOTH ON THE AIR AND ONLINE, TO GET THE VERY LATEST UPDATE, MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE KCRA 3 APP. IT'S FREE TO DOWNLOAD AND TURN ON THE PUSH ALERTS TO GET
