Buy and Enable Copilot for Microsoft 365

yay the day has finally come I can purchase Microsoft 365 co-pilot for my company with less than 300 people so what we're going to do in this video is we're going to do two things I'm going to show you how to buy it if you have access to buy it and then once we bought it I'm going to show you how to get it working in the different clients and kind of where it shows up because let's be honest I was able to finally buy it and I was like ah how do I make this thing appear so I'm just going to run you guys through all that s fun now let's just switch over to my desktop and take a look all right so buying it what I needed to do was I went over here and I went into the admin right so I have access to admin. microsoft.com for our tenant so if you don't have this access you need to find someone who does to do this for you and then once I was over here I was able to go to Marketplace now this shows me all the lovely things that I can and can't purchase if you can't get here directly having a hard time I'm going to put the URL in the video description below just so you can jump to it directly if you're having a hard time finding it cuz I did have a hard time finding it yesterday but I think they've kind of worked out those Kinks so then we'll go over here to search for all products and I'm just going to search for co-pilot and hit enter and after a second there it is Microsoft co-pilot for Microsoft 365 how many times can we say the word Microsoft and so then here I'm going go into details and now you can select your licensing quantity so how many do you want to buy your subscription length one year or three years and then pay yearly or pay up front and you're ready to go right so I just went one I me bought several but I bought some I went to one year and I paid yearly and then I was able to say buy right so I'm not going to buy again I would love to give Microsoft more money but I've bought enough for one day but that is what you're going to do you walk through the purchase process as long as you've got your billing profile setup it was just click click click boom you have got them now once you have accessed them then you're going to need to assign the licenses so let's see if I hit manage here so this was a page it dropped me into after I bought it and so then now I went to assign license and just like you always do you're able to come in here then and start assigning license I don't have any zero such why it's great out for me but I was able to choose the uh people in my organization for and then I assigned them a license with the little people picker and it then said hey do you want to send them an email telling them you purchased it I did and I would say about five minutes later we all started getting the emails that we' purchased it that email looks something like this and so each person got their own copy it all came from me this is words I wrote right and so then in here just kind of walks you through what they've got and so it's giving some ideas of how to get started I like all right great but how do I get to the clients that was my question right because it shows you like all the different ones it's going to work for right away okay and so it's like hey start learning on your website but like I just felt like that one piece was missing of like how to do it so let's talk about that now give me one second now before I show you how to turn it on right I wanted to make sure that you knew that if you needed to learn more about using generative AI so whether it's chat GPT co-pilot all the different co-pilot Studios all of that that I have a new training class for that right so if you come out here if it's not showing up on the homepage yet CU we weren't ready to really roll it out yet that's all right if you go down here to all courses there you go it's got the little blue one right so it's got a different color for all of our co-pilot stuff but this is a free class on how to get started with chat GPT co-pilot and other tools so please go take this class also we have a much more in-depth paid class that is almost done like days away from being done um so if you want or have interest in that just email me Shane powerap 91.com I will get the email I reply to your email and I will let you know when the paid version comes out but it should be hopefully any day now we've got a bunch of the content done we just don't quite have all the pieces so the paid one is not done yet the free one is so you guys want the first people to find out about the free one okay back over to our demos okay so now that I have co-pilot I have a license for I was like how do I get to show up in the clients okay and it wasn't immediately obvious to me so what you need to do like I'm in the word client is I'm going go here to word and I'm going to go down here to account over here on the left make sure that you're in using the Microsoft 365 apps for your company right so for Enterprise for business whatever the right one is it's tied to your company account you just have the license assigned to and there's two things you want to do at this point right one is I would first just do an update now and make sure you've got the latest updates so I did have some latest updates to to roll out I don't think they had anything to do with copilot but I wanted to make sure I was on the latest update so I did that and so I installed that got all those going but then what you have to do is in order to get co-pilot to light up for each one of these you have to go here and click on update license so then you're going to sign in and so all I really had to do here was just put in my email address like so and then I did next and depending on you might have to MFA you might have to authenticate again like it just depends on where you're at in your your authentication cycle but then it said success and then you may need to restart the app so I closed and so then all I had to do was close word and open word back up and then the co-pilot pieces showed show up right I just went here to home went blank document and look at that draft with co-pilots right there up here in the toolbar if I want to turn on the sidebar and so now I am using co-pilot so I did have to do this for word excel PowerPoint and OneNote so I went into each one of those one at a time and did that update license the patching the updating that only happened that happened for the whole suite at once but the uh the update license I had to do for each one of those but boom I was now off and running with copil in those four tools now there's a couple other tools though that we want to talk about actually before we do that though I do want to say that like our Daniel on my team right you guys all know Daniel um his first test was he went into PowerPoint like hey made me a PowerPoints deck about uh the Civil War and I tell you guys what it made him a multi-slide deck it had pictures it had speaker notes like I I I we were dumbfounded by how good it was so please as you go and play with these like do it like leave me a comment below tell me what is the first thing that you built with this right I I want to I want to know like what are all these cool use cases that it can do because I mean I just would have never guessed in a million years that it was going to make his slide deck it was going to add the pictures and the speaker notes things like and that me a slide for his particular battle boom popped it right in like I just I don't know I I would have thought that it was a little weaker than that like he would have had to lay it out or something no he just literally said you know make me a deck and it did it so this stuff is so fun exciting love it all right so now there's a couple more programs we want to talk about um so in the case of Outlook what I had to do for Outlook was I found that that whole update um license did not make an effect an Outlook I had to switch to the new client in Outlook right so up in the top right hand corner you've probably got that little check box little toggle where it says you know update the new client so that is what I was needed to do once I switched the new client then it was working working so here up here at the top I had open up Outlook when you couldn't see um there's a little check thing that turned it into the new outlook and so here you can see like when I started repir an email it's automatically like hey draft with co-pilot so it's putting that stuff in there I believe you can also do a slash to invoke that um what I've seeing is it's kind of giving me different prompts at different times right there's so many people turning it on right now the system's a little overwhelmed um but there are the pieces there right and just keep in mind that like when you're down here like if I do custom so you know I'm got this and then if you hit the little sliders here you can change the tone you can change the length like there's so much of this to learn we we'll cover all that in a later video I just really want to get the tools turned on for you and in front of you right now and so that's what we're trying to do okay so that's that one now for teams it was a little bit different so with teams I did not have to turn on the try the new teams um I went looking through all these menus like I checked for updates that didn't get me anything um I tried all these I wasn't able to find a way to like say get my license again so the way that I got access to teams here was I clicked on my face and then I went here and I said sign out so I signed out of teams and then sign back in and when I sign back in right it's like oh you have a co-pilot license now and so then co-pilot stuff lit up for me right you can see over here on the right we've got the the ability to add co-pilot so maybe there's a more official way to do it but for me that was a way to do it right so for word excel PowerPoint and one note we were just able to say update license by clicking button that worked great for Outlook we had to switch the new client and then it just lit up and then for teams uh we had to sign out and sign back in maybe you'll find better ones if you do leave them below maybe I'm crazy but that is where it's taken for me to get this stuff now the other thing to keep in mind now that you've got access to this if you go back to office.com now over here on the left you've got co-pilot and so this is the Microsoft 365 chat right like this is the co-pilot that is allowing me to talk over my entire Corpus um so I haven't got to play with this one at all yet but just think of this is like chat GPT but you know now knows all my SharePoint and Outlook and Powerpoints and Word and Excel and all of those fun things pretty exciting stuff right so we got some more learning to do here but want you to see that was here and then of course you know if you go into any of the apps like if we open up word excel PowerPoint any of those in the browser then obviously the co-pilot will be bolted into those as well but there you go you now have all the pieces right you have the hours I spent trying to figure out how to make all
