Too heavy for full length fights. But if I'm choosing any boxer from history to back me up in a bar brawl he's a good pick

I remember back in the 1990's, the occasional casual would say "they should let Butterbean fight for the heavyweight title."

With reality stars that fight now, it should come as no surprise that large swaths of the public had no idea where to gauge Butterbean's actual abilities.

By the same token, it was easy to underrate him. His first round destruction of Tyson's foe Peter McNeely come to mind.

I didn't mind having a Butterbean fight on a fightcard. You were guaranteed a short slugfest and more often than not, a brutal kayo.

one of the most unique fighters to put on the gloves is a man by the name of butterbean eric butterbean etch he is the king of the four angles six foot 346 pounds people do that for a couple of rounds and then ultimately of course he fights he was known as the king of the four rounders a near 400 pound human wrecking machine [Applause] he competed in almost every combat sport california that i'd tried in china and then i'd go to japan from sumo wrestling to mma he was the final boss in a sega game he was stuffed with power charm and probably fried chicken eric esch known to the world as butterbean had a boxing career lasting almost two decades [Music] eric was bullied for being overweight most of his life and while i can't prove it i think he played high school football in texas i'm back you can rally years ago when he worked at a manufactured home company his buddies talked him into entering a local tough man boxing competition had to lose 20 pounds because at a 400 pound weight let me wait for 20th time and i went on a butterbean and chicken breast diet and i hated the butter beans it's got older bland butterbeans a mill room supervisor just a steel town boy looking for the fight of his life you ask the answer is yes that's mr t in butterbean's corner but i pity the fool looking like he's trained a little bit meanwhile he's another guy knocked dudes dead he was during those tough man competitions he became really did become something of a of a folk hero to the folks that enjoyed that congratulated butterbean then it was on to the third fight you can knock him out you know you knock him out if he's set up he's ready for you he's happy he got you ain't nothing it's just one round baby next a fourth fight in the same night mr t fired him up and i would destroy any man who tries to take what i got look at the confidence with the hands down the ash has been here before a lot of pressure-filled situations that they made him the final boss in the tough man sega game well it was really cool because i was still working a factory job at the time when it come out you know so how many guys building mobile homes or have a video game out so i'm not kicking it after i won 18 tough man they told me i couldn't fight him anymore and so i said i want to go pro still working his day job butterbean decided to make the move to professionals 305 pounds eric butterby just human nature to root for somebody that that is not expected to win he doesn't even like his own name mentioned he said but i don't even like to think of myself as eric he's his right hand there and he gets away with the windmilling here this big muscle bomb guy is going to kill me and i end up knocking him out watching muscle bound pros being dropped by the significantly rounder butterbean was an instant draw well he never shows slugs with him he knows that now he carried the tough man style into boxing four round fights all action the winner by knockout victory his record now 7-0 eric what he made lack just nine fights into his professional career in boxing polish he more than makes up for and brute strength and brawn six feet and just north of 300 pounds i went out to fight just like you know champagne only got one many rounds well i took that philosophy into the the four round fights with three minute rounds and i just kept the pace up butterbee is just very very exciting to watch he's a he's a good athlete so that's why they ended up calling me the king of the four rounders because i fought such a fast pace they wanted to see that [Applause] boxing would be boring i was never a boring fighter that's why i skyrocketed and people i i got a lot of fans out there because i was not boring butterbean you know we were somewhere uh an atlantic commissioner told me from all the boxes on the card he had actually the best blood pressure and cholesterol what for real he said we were a sh butterbean he will race across the ring and attempt to get monaco down quickly and by golly that's just what he did the king of the four rounders racked up an impressive record competing in almost 100 professional bouts [Applause] a bulldozer there goes monaco and i mean there he goes well that does it for this fight well he's a scary figure i i'm not saying he's going to beat anybody great right now but when he gets in there against the guy he can hit he gets him celebrities were showing up to get photos with butterbean that's what i call a close encounter it nights and became days we've been hanging banging brother butterbean has had the experience of not only his 20 professional fights but also another 300 fights in the tough match this year butterbean has had six fights and has fought for a total of 10 rounds exactly that's what we were just getting to he said between rounds know it's just a drone rush it's you know you know you know you're going to go out there and have a good time i mean where else can you beat somebody up not go to jail and get paid i had a great job i mean you couldn't ask for anything better this is the iba four round super heavyweight world championship okay gentlemen had your instructions i want you to pay my hand and play i'm immediate when i take a break i want a good clean break and indeed butterbean says he would go at him but this time a lot more cautiously and eaton coming out very confident he would compete for the iba four-round heavyweight title [Applause] [Applause] very impressive i'm sure i'm sure the legion said my mule don't kick that hard they don't make music that big and bitter the winner [Applause] his career brought him celebrity status first in alabama then all across america and even around the world he was a cultural sensation his fame garnered him a boxing match with the wwe he fought an up-and-coming boxer named bart gunn gunn had hired a boxing coach he was confident and he did a lot of trash talking too kevin rooney here we go round one for overall butterbeated part gun his head actually turned around backwards [Applause] at that time i had a lot of pro fights but after wrestlemania everybody's going to talk about me knocking out bart gunn and dominating roy what do you think of the bean uh you know i like i have to admire the bean for his courage to get up and do what he does boxing's gave him a new life and you know you have to look at the positives on what guys do more and more boxers were lining up to prove the fat man was nothing more than a mirage those who braved the bean usually tasted the canvas in the opening rounds oh they make a right hand by butterbean and ed white paying the price for dropping his hands so low gonna give butterbean too many chances [Applause] still the iba four-round super heavyweight champion he even knocked out a wrath fatality an improbable hero to working class schlubs he wasn't the greatest but he put asses in seats with his raging bullish style get ready to see the cult hero and the heavyweights the king of the four rounders butterbeef fans took to the story of an everyman factory worker turned gladiator celebrity when he got down to 303 for one of his fights there was concern in the corner that he wasn't really eating enough and working out properly so he shot back up the notable famous butterbean you talk about a guy who's bred for short distance butterbean has had 32 fights only one went six rounds and he's never been under 300 pounds his fights were spectacles [Applause] and still iba super heavyweight champion his name is the bean man better be [Applause] his iconic run through combat sports will never be forgotten he was everywhere even showing up in movies [Applause] he wasn't fighting world-class opposition but he was delivering world-class entertainment butterbean picks up his 30-second stoppage and kevin talon has been knocked out for the second consecutive fight savagely k owing one boxer after the next and uh that's because butterbean wears the title king of the four rounders although he's made some noises about moving on into the mainstream of the sport but the fans stayed engaged and butterbean got to live out an improbable story i don't care i come to see excitement that he gives me excitement he's landing that hard right here while you're talking to him and then knocks graham through the ropes with a body punch and jay nady has seen enough in what may have been butterbean's most impressive performance ever i went through a whirlwind because most fighters they fight every four to eight months i was fighting up to three times in one month see butterbeans average weight over the last couple of years he's getting bigger and bigger not only in notoriety and popularity but in the ring he had success and it seemed everyone rooted for this big man who didn't just beat people in the ring he destroyed them now that's i mean we got ron shelton here the movie director that would be a that would be a shot that you would want on your movie set but up next yes indeed the popular and somewhat svelte butterbean taking on carrie bowell's did i hear the man say svelte yeah i'm i think he was being how you say facetious watching that guy was just like i mean a hammer coming at you a thousand miles you know what i mean after being finished his boxing career with a record of 77 wins 10 losses and four draws i'll tell you what [Music] you know i think so oh there's the first knockdown as [Applause] you said it punching power bean can hit butterbee king of the four rounders 57 one and two with 44 knockouts 341 slim pounds big whippy shots by butterbean [Applause] he sought to prove just one time that he was able to go 10 rounds with a boxer of significant skills [Applause] and i'm not sure you could give the either of those first two rounds to butterbean no uh so if larry holmes could keep this up for 10 rounds he'd probably win a decision easily holmes boxed himself well ahead on point you want to win it that way yeah i think he wants to make a statement that we're on two entirely different skill levels but for butterbean it wasn't about proving he was better than holmes [Applause] he went the distance 10 rounds with a former champion he even scored a knockdown [Applause] down that's called the knockdown appropriately sends it against the ropes and that's the appropriate call by the referee so an interesting moment larry holmes we think probably won this fight butterbeans walking around the ring saying that he won it it was a fantastic moment for a blue-collar factory worker from alabama aside from boxing butterbean also competed in kickboxing at this point he would pivot to try other combat sports he would compete in kickboxing he lost a few fights but after some training he did pull off an improbable victory yeah he's already set it up from here isn't it [Applause] there's mike tyson former heavyweight champion sitting next to us here and hit him he tried out mma again with mixed results some wins and some losses and i think that there you go there it is oh that's about it i mean that's about it butterbean has done it thompson's still looking for the takedown i don't think he's quite aware eric won championships in boxing and mixed martial arts [Applause] he even held a sumo wrestling match in japan it didn't go well but it was still funny these days butterbean owns a barbecue restaurant in jasper and is enjoying life today butterbean is a family man who owns a barbecue restaurant he regales those who meet him with tales of devastating knockouts they make a right hand by butterbean and once in a lifetime experiences keep on going ahead help me keep on punching closer than the head too a joyous story of a blue-collar underdog changing the course of his life one blistering knockout after another eric esh butterbean nobody brings it home like joe it's nobody make it [Music]
