Bushwakka Kamelback Camper Review

selecting a new overlanding platform can be quite daunting with all the choices out there I'm about to do exactly that so I thought I'd take you along for the journey welcome to get outo I'm Kristoff and this is my new series where I'll be evaluating quite a few different platforms starting with this bushwhacker Camel Back [Music] camper this series is proudly brought to you by outdoor campers [Music] this is a Toyota Land Cruiser 79 series with a very nice camper [Music] conversion this particular model is the V8 turbo diesel so the drive is pretty amazing submarines imag even though it's a heavy vehicle you don't really feel it thanks to lots of low down torque to know when you're the only know it's definitely good being back in the 79 series um I think that's one of the great things about camel back is the pairing with this vehicle definitely makes for something that's very capable um you can also put it to the double cab and to the highight single cab and double cap as [Music] well we're taking this Beast out camping for a few days to see what it's like and of course share our opinion with you so far though I really like what I [Music] see sum in San ant so it's actually the first time I've set this up I've never done this before so we'll see how it goes I want to see how intuitive is to set this up let's [Music] go the setup is pretty straightforward but I've made a setup video that you can find on the outdoor campus Channel Link in the description below this is the Camel Back camper it's made by a South African company called bushwhacker they've been in the market for the last 25 years manufacturing off-road trailers and these camper conversions so far what really stands out for me is the Bold quality of this conversion and high Comfort levels thanks to some very clever [Music] thinking let's start in the kitchen the kitchen's really practical and very well laid out out there are three parts to the kitchen a slide out drawer the pantry and a wash up area all covered by 180° awning the slide out drawer houses storage a gas hob and a fridge the gas hop is conveniently located and features two burners there's also an additional windshield provided if you need one there's a large working surface thanks to the marine grade aluminium door the pantry has Ample Storage and comes with Cutlery and Crockery you can obviously customize this space yourself as [Music] well there is space for up to a 90 L fridge we had the national Luna fridge freezer on this trip the camel back also has an onboard water system it has 100 L water tank it has a du hot um hot water boiler and 5 kgs propane to power that having hot water on top is [Music] great setting up the wash up area is also no fuss affair [Music] the propane bottle is located in a side storage compartment and can easily be removed for refill there's a lockable water filler cap as well as four Taps around the vehicle the camel back also comes with a shower [Music] cubicle this is very convenient and fairly straightforward to set up and even has a top cover there's also a wash up area in the back with the Basin and storage for your [Music] toiletries let's have a look at the interior it's great to have a full-size door and it also comes with bug [Music] mesh a concertina style step is supplied with the [Music] camper one of our prere visits for an overlanding platform is an interior living space this camper definitely has that in Spades even though this camper has a fairly low profile it opens up to quite a tall living area thanks to its wedge popup roof simply release two latches and push up the roof you can also lift the second wedge for even more Headroom the interior is quite spacious and very comfortable there's a double bed that will fit two adults comfortably the bed folds out to the side of the [Music] camper there's also a great little fold out worktable you'll also find additional storage underneath the bed as well as three cupboards at the front the Camel Back comes with a pretty comprehensive power system but you can also expand on that it comes standard with a board AC charger DC todc charger and 100 amp hour battery you can add solar chargers inverters and more batteries there are loads of different power outlets inside and outside of this camper the lights are also great you can switch between red and white on the main kitchen light as well as yellow and white on all the other [Music] lights [Music] even though this Camp is really comfortable and provides great protection against the elements it still feels like you're camping outside which is great there's an ample amount of storage all over this camper this includes numerous lockable storage boxes as well as pockets all over the interior and even the door you can obviously customize the cab of your vehicle to your liking as well after using this camel bag for the last few days I must say I'm really impressed um it's really well thought out it's very practical and the build quality is really really great who's this for though I'd say if you're looking for all the modern conveniences of off-road trailers but you want to get just a little bit further off the beaten truck this is definitely for you this gives you almost everything a trailer or Caravan would but you don't have to tow anything the camel back is very comfortable and if you're planning
