hi guys thanks for stopping by this video it  is officially the end of an amazingly weird   year 2020. i managed to complete two journals  um well i'm almost through my second journal   but today i'm going to show you a flip through  of every month of 2020 so let's see how we went   okay starting with my first journal that  i started in january of 2020 and the theme   i decided to go for was an interesting one  now looking back so i sort of thought of the   words 2020 being like a vision thing so i was  thinking of clarity and clear vision into like a   a great year ahead and just trying to have  that sort of spiritual kind of tarot reading   clairvoyant sort of design i guess so i sort of  did those features through here what a strange   thing to choose when we when we eventually got  into this year that has been the weirdest one   ever so yeah this quote although it was lovely  at the time it's um interesting now looking back   and then this is my cleaning calendar i remember  this um to be honest i did it maybe for the first   half of the year then it fell off the face of the  earth i didn't really go back to it i just find   that things at the front of the books i'm just not  going to use they're just not for me personally   i think i need to keep mine all  in my monthly plans once again   barely even filled it out loved making the  spreads but just didn't end up using them   okay and then we were on to our first month and  our first destination of the bullet journey which   was jay for january in japan one of the places  i am desperate to go and visit um i can't wait   to get there and the illustrations in this one  were quite basic at the beginning um i was just   trying to show some of the elements of japan i  hadn't really started investigating into like the   history and culture too much but i just went for  sort of things that i knew of and things that were   quite popular in my mind love sushi so that was  on there and the cherry blossoms things like that   all these things that i would love to see if i  if i get to go there or when i get to go there   i will i am determined to get there one day i  really liked the crane and i liked the stippling i   don't do much stippling in my artwork but i think  it's a really nice effect um yeah if you want   something simple and classic i recommend trying  stippling i might do some more in the future   this one i obviously just didn't finish that  and then we were on to france in february   i really really liked the cover of this um  uh maybe it's because it's close to my heart   because i have been to france um and it was well  i've actually only seen paris but it was amazing   so this was kind of like my idea of a parisian  girl and when we were actually in paris we had   a picnic under the eiffel tower with baguettes and  feta cheese and olives and strawberries and it was   so beautiful so romantic which  actually and i even chucked the   love heart in there so that's quite nice to  think think of when i look back at these spreads   and then i just did a lot of french food and their  brands in there i'm not overly loving the way i   did the artwork for this month i did a lot of pen  shading which is fine for doodling but i think as   i've developed i've put more of my art style into  the spreads so i'm not overly fond of this pen   kind of shading anymore well really disliked  this page you know i mean i loved the louvre   i went there on my visit so i was a bit a bit  sad that i couldn't reflect that better in the   in the spread but you live you learn we've got  french poodle and then we were on to march which   was mexico so lots of bright colors here which  was really nice at the time and i started working   with paint which i was very happy to do because  that's always been my sort of my weapon of choice   like i've always loved painting with acrylics  so it was nice to do something like that here   and then because i still felt like i needed  to work in like fine liners and stuff i don't   know why i felt like i had to do that but yeah i  was still trying this doodling sort of technique   um and shading with my pens which at the time i  was happy with like i really liked that quote page   um but now looking back i just feel  it's too too simple it's not quite me so   yeah using the tequila and the chilies and i like  this meal pan planner still this still floats my   boat i like the colors and i like the composition  of it um that's probably one of my favorites   actually oh and i loved the mind map that was nice  that was a nice change i think this is where it   started to evolve into something the mind map the  idea was that your mind is full and you want to   get it free so you wanted to put all your things  that doesn't have a place to go down onto this   page and so that's how i came up with the name  calling it mind map so if you're ever wondering if   you've seen my later videos and you're wondering  why did i call it mind map this is where that   thinking was coming from it's kind of like the  sugar skull and your mind is full of information   and you just want to set it free and put it onto  the page so that was the mind map but i really   like this drawing and drawing sugar skulls is  something that i have really adored since then   the goodliness spread this is where  things are starting to happen as well   i can see that these early months are really  starting to set the tone for the rest of the year   so i liked that cactus spread not a fan of how  this turned out once again i'm just not into   the pen shading that i did in the beginning  i'm glad i discovered my pencils later on   i like these i like those that style of um font  i really am happy with that sombrero can't go   wrong with that quesadillas so all the artwork so  far in these weeklies is quite simple and basic   i still love those sugar skulls and then the final  page was where i introduced my colored pencils so   this was frida kahlo portrait and lots of you  seem to like me doing the portraits and i think   that's what encouraged me to include more i didn't  think that they would be writing a bullet journal   but then i just started doing them because i  felt like it and they were kind of a hit so   i've kept doing those in the front cover of my  april spread included a portrait so this was i   think meant to be margot robbie doesn't look  anything like her now that i'm looking at it   but at the time i think it had some resemblance um  but yeah i used alcohol markers on this one and it   was a separate sheet of paper so i i enjoyed using  those markers because they're fun to use and then   i did the map of australia and he included my  dutch door and used a lot of the blue and yellow   these aussie colors throughout and then continuing  with some pencil clearly i was enjoying that oh the meal planner for australia  i still don't mind that one   just makes me laugh because of vb this is like a  very australian beer if you're not from australia   these are like you know the  token things that australians eat   i love vegemite by the way but i do like prominent  as well my kids are vegemite kids but i like both   and then we've got the mind map page i  don't love the way that's that's done but   i like the concept of it and i was still  using i still never needed all this space and then we've got the goodliness spread i  remember thinking this was so lovely at the   time but yeah i don't know i feel like i've come a  long way and now it's i don't know it feels quite   basic for me i think i've developed a lot and  then we had the little airs rock with the kangaroo and oh this was this was back when we started  homeschooling so this is yeah obviously back in   march when australia started to feel the effects  of coronavirus and we had to start homeschooling   i really enjoyed making this  and i really really liked it   didn't so much like the homeschooling  but making the schedule was lots of fun   oh yeah and this was me trying to mark my my  own teaching skills out and see how she went   thank the lord that that only lasted two weeks  for me because yeah that was hard props to you   guys doing it full time it's yeah very hard  um yeah moving on to the oh yes the australian   animals i loved this quacker drawing he's  really happy with how he turned out so cute yeah so now so now i started investigating  more into the weeklies and paying more close   attention to how i could like share them in  my journal so yeah i really like that one too and then we were on to may and may i look at  and that gives me such good feelings i love   love love this page um this is morocco in may and  a lot of the elements start coming into play so   with the the female that we've been using  this one i decided that she would there's   like a sense of mystery to it like where is  she going where does these stairs lead to her   um and i had the moroccan kind  of patterns in the background   i just love the colors and the way it's  painted quite like loosely and that's always   been a struggle for me to just kind of pair  back on the detail but i feel like i did it   well here and i'm still trying to grab some of  that that looseness that i had back then hopefully   one day i get it back but yeah still i'm so happy  with this page it's probably my favorite one oh and then this was all the stuff you could  find in the moroccan markets love these i   have these in my lounge room love them now the  tagine the moroccan tagine and all the spices   i love the rich colors of this month so pretty  oh yeah and this is the mind map this is where   this is the mind map that really set it off  for me i feel like this is where i discovered   exactly what i liked doing for my mind maps  and that is doing the realistic face or skin   and doing that in colored pencil and then using  like a graphic element for the fabric or hair   or clothing um and do doing that in marker  and then continuing it on i just think it   gives such a really really dramatic look  to the mind map so super happy with that   and i love this goodliness page too still  like that that's good i'm glad that i'm not   hating everything i have a tendency to be quite  critical on my artwork um so yeah it's oh now   we're at thank you 1000 subscribers that was an  exciting time um yeah i hit 1 000 subscribers so   i wanted to document it i put it into my journal  with a kind of moroccan theme with all the little   decorations and decorative sketches and then  i did a mood tracker video which was like that   tracking mood mostly calm and content good and  happy and productive that's good good times   and now we're on to the weeklies for the morocco  some beautiful doors lots of details this is where   the gold started to appear and it would never  leave me again i love the gold and the black   it just made me feel so happy looking at these  and drawing these so they really stuck around   i like the scarabs too they were fun to draw oh  yeah and then we had like a moroccan tea scene   all the bits and pieces beautiful textured  fabrics rugs oh yeah and that's this little   pipe oh i can't remember the name of this place  i'll have to put that on the screen because   i can't remember the name but it looked  really cool just like a sandcastle town and then we arrived in jamaica for  june loved this loved visiting jamaica   um i didn't so much love the front cover of  this for some reason i think it's maybe just   too much green and yellow on there um or maybe  it's the girl the fact she the fact you can see   her face too much i feel like there's not  enough mystery in that one so in hindsight   maybe would have put the girl somewhere else in  the scene to give it a little bit more mystery oh i really liked this this was the needs  and wants list that i did as a rum label   which i really liked the look of and it  was plenty because clearly i didn't need   much that month and then the meal plan  with the rum oh what was this called and then we're moving on to the mind map um  and then so i was continuing that that idea   of doing the face and the skin quite realistic  with pencils and then having some graphic fabric   and background in there with the markers i really  liked the colors of that that looks really nice   still happy with that and then the goodliners  track track instead of tracker for this one   because of hussein bolt um that was fine that  was a that was fun look how much i actually   achieved in that month i feel like that was  better because i had this little goal of like   achieving over 10 would be bronze over 15 would be  silver for 20 would be gold so yeah that was cute   and then we had the weeklies  for bob marley and cool runnings   couldn't do jamaica without cool runnings  and then some jamaican blue coffee and then james bond in dr no and then the last one was this cool idea of a  girl sitting in front of one of these beautiful   like oasis spots so i was really happy  with that that month's drawings actually   and then this was a video i did about title  ideas for bullet journals i'll leave links to   these things down in the description box if you  haven't seen any of the videos and then this was   june uh july and it was jordan and i forgot to  mention that there's always this sneaky little   um reference to the month in the artworks this  page i really like i really liked how this turned   out um although i feel that she does look a  little bit large large in comparison to this   i feel like the perspective might be a little bit  off like maybe these little tea lights need to be   smaller but i'm really happy with how the actual  building part came out or the you know engraved what do you call it the archaeological site  turned out um that was the treasury building   i think treasury very beautiful  it's from indiana jones anyway   um and then oh yeah the national animal  that's when i started i think that's when   i started doing the national animal  and i've always been doing the flags   and then we had the idea of the need and nice  to have with the holy grail lots of gold coming   through and i really liked the mind map of jordan  that was really cool it's like she was sunk   beneath the dead sea um yeah so that was the idea  and having the black iris which is their national   flower and then that's quite a cool goodliness  page i remember this being a bit you know a bit   different at the time and it turned out a lot of  you liked it and so did i it worked really well   and it's quite cute looking back at it now oh yes  i love these weeklies these were good i liked that   it's funny how you forget them as i'm  looking through it feels like forever but   only a few months ago the animals and  then the hercules hand i remember that   oh yes and this was the idea of the river  jordan in the lyrics from heal the world   so i had the river jordan being cupped by  hands i just felt like that was quite a nice   representative i like that i'm happy with  that and then some of the traditional dance   and then we were in austria for august and this  this painting took ages i remember thinking   that i maybe overshot the boundary here but  um yeah really happy with how it turned out   i love the colors lots of different colors  and i like how we put august on her shirt   as well i think that was cool because there  was literally nowhere else that i could put it and we had the flag this time we had the wavy flag   oh and then this was a nice quote one day in  retrospect the years of struggle will strike   you as the most beautiful that's in hopes  that we'll think of that of 2020 one day   maybe not and this is the needs and nice to have  this was all um in reference to sound of music   as i later found out that a lot of austrians  aren't hugely aware of sound of music whereas   in australia at least we that's  what we think of when we think of   austria we think of sound of music um man i'd love  to go to austria by the way it looks so beautiful   and then we have the mind map and that was [ __ ]  um oh i like this page i like having a bit of aqua   on there it's a nice change that's right that  was the mirabelle palace and garden salzburg that was my first scrawlrbox and annie  can't have an austrian spread without arnie   and then we had honda twice a house apostolics this one i don't know if you can see  but there's lots of silver on there which is quite   nice in person but probably not great  on camera and then we had sigmund freud and then we had innsbruck with some coffee all  these places actually are all kind of famous   for coffee and that was the end of our first  journal up till august and then i switched to   my journal for marien rose which is a brand that  i've come up with for bullet journals and i just   basically wanted to create something that had  a bit sturdier paper and just the things that i   like to have in my journal so i created those  they are for sale i will leave the link down   below if you want to learn more about them you  can feel free to put your name on the newsletter   and i will send more news about them but they  are available on etsy if you're interested   so on this first page i decided to create an  artwork that was sort of like me in the studio   you know sketching and painting um and i really  love the fact that i limited my palette to just   a few colors so i just chose green and pink and  like a yellowy color and then just went with that   and just did the graphic kind of shading which  i really enjoy doing adding that bit of color   really made it pop i think and then this page is  where i did the map and this is all the journeys   all the places we visited on the journey in 2020  so that's nice to look back on and then this is   the page that i very rarely go to um it has been  good for the grid spacing i've been using that   i never use the key because i'm so used to it  now and unfortunately the annual cleaning tasks   i haven't filled out properly i think  it's because i've been transferring them   to my monthlies so maybe i'll figure out a  better way to do that in 2021 or i'll just   try and stick to it and stick to marking it off  when i do it and then my youtube video ideas um   and then we had my one of my favorite months  which was september in south korea i still   love turning to this page this and morocco just  have something special to me i really love the   difference in having this bright neon i remember  it being so fun working with the highlighters and   trying to get that neon brightness happening  i'm really happy with how that turned out so   loved that and i remember learning so  much interesting stuff about south korea   yeah and it's definitely on my  bucket list of places to go now   bibimbap and the kimchi and then i also  discovered how full-on that's um south   korea is with technology so i tried to  represent kind of virtual reality there   oh i was so happy with this mind map page i  still turn to that and feel really proud of   how that came out i'd never worked with these kind  of colors before and trying to get the lighting to   look like lighting and not just like weird blue  and pink skin that was a challenge but as i'm   looking back at it now it feels feels right  so i'm really happy with how that turned out and then my adidas page which is the restaurant  that we went to to experience south korean food   which was so delicious um and yeah i had the tiger  in there which is the national animal using a lot   of that gold still loving it still feel very  happy with oh this spread i love this spread   i don't know why i can't put my  finger on it but i just love how   the gold works in all the areas and i loved this  washi tape as the lines just feels really really   nice and i think it's the mystery there's the  mysteriousness of walking down these streets   i really like it and then we continued with  juju island i think it was now it's testing   me because this is a whole year of a lot  of research trying to go into my brain   which is like the fairy tale  castles kind of like a disneyland   and then we had bts which you couldn't have a  south korea set up without having bts in there and then in october we went to oman and i really  enjoyed researching oman there was so much that i   why i didn't really know anything  about the place so that was so cool   reading up and finding out all these  things you had no idea about um i like   the cover page but i feel like it's lacking in  a certain color i feel like there needs more   maybe more reds or warmth in there  just feels a little bit dull in areas and then i was trying to be all minimalist here   feels very minimal i like this page once again  it's it's the gold it just makes me happy oh yeah and this was the mind  map this is where i learnt to um   create backgrounds using the washi  tape um and cut around it and i think   it really added something to this page  love that blue and the gold together and then we have the goodliness tracker  the turtles because they nest a lot in   oman and the frankincense the bottles  that come off the frankincense tree oh yeah yeah this is a nice sort of way of using  the entire spread when you've only got a few days   to use in your weeklies i was happy with trying to  do that ah and then we had um yes the girl finding   the doors in the middle of the desert i liked that  idea and yeah i think it turned out really nice   and it's so lovely when i see you  guys recreate some of my drawings um   there's someone who's used my like idea here and  created her own spread in her journal which i   might leave her a little instagram tag here she  did a good job and then we were at the markets and then oh yeah this was another place that  looked just like a sandcastle this is nicaral fort   and it's just all palm trees  or date palms everywhere   and there's the chatty musket see by now i have  learnt to write things down so that i don't   forget them i should have done that the whole  way through but yeah this hotel looked amazing and then we were arriving in norway for november  so surely i will remember all this because   this was just last month so i just started  with the aurora borealis on the front page   and i really liked how i created this i just  used black paper and then my carbothello like   pastel sort of pencils to try and give  that really soft effect in the sky   yeah happy with that and then we had a  very non-minimalist front page quite bare and then a reference to edward um the  scream and the meal plan with the salmon   and then the washi tape was still being used here  and i'm still loving that so that was really nice   felt like that i just wish i hadn't done these  squiggles here that was overkill didn't need it   and then we had the goodliness tracker  with all the good things that norway are doing oh yes and then the seed  bank that was called the seed vault   i really like this page this one turned out really  nicely this is someone skiing in the slopes of   norway hopefully one day i get to do that i've  said it before 100 times but i have never seen   snow before so i am like so amazed by these  countries that have um really snowy mountainous   landscapes and yeah real cold winters i can't even  imagine it like we're just about to hit the peak   of our summer well maybe not the peak we're just  sort of starting summer but usually december and   christmas is hot hot hot but it would be lovely to  experience a northern hemisphere christmas one day   and then this was the christmas gift spread where  i write down my list of gift ideas and whether i   bought them or not quite like that page and this  was the recent calligraphy um sort of quick course   that i did about uppercase alphabet and lowercase  it'll be linked in the description box if you   did want to learn a little bit more about doing  calligraphy it's very easy if you follow that kind   of guide and then we have arrived in the current  month of december in deutschland or germany so   really happy with this front cover page i love the  colors of it that's my main thing that i get out   of it like every time i turn to this this month i  just feel warm it's just really inviting i think   so really stoked with without that came out  and then i love this blue color here so that   i'm still feeling really happy with uh we've got  our christmas adventures or our advent calendar   and the meal plan with the breakfast and the  beer and we've got goodliness i really like   this page too once again i think it's the color  i mean i'm all about color and once colors work   i think that's when you feel right about the  piece it can either throw it off or it can   make it feel really good and then this was  the latest mind map that i have done a video   on of how i do the portraits um in here so it's  mainly pencil and then the markers on the outside   and a touch of the washi tape kind of  including everything that i've like   sort of learnt and discovered throughout  this year and putting it into place there   and then going with the rest of the set up for  with using the black and the gold the dog breeds   i just don't like this page oh it's  all learning though isn't it and then   the graduate of the graduation the university  idea and then the happy new years in sylvester   germany and that is where we're up to so that was  my entire year of 2020. um thank you very much for   watching stick around now and i will tell you  about the theme that we're going to do for 2021   it's still going to be countries but instead of  the letter of the month each time i'm going to   um well i'll tell you in depth now i'm  basically going to choose them from jars   so stick around and we'll switch cameras  and show you how would you do it so my idea   for 2021 is to start by writing down countries  that i'd like to explore with three differing   population sizes so the coral ones will be larger  countries with a population over 30 million   the blue ones will be with populations less than  8 million and then the purple are between the two   i'm going to pop them into three bucket list  jars that i've previously bought and choose at   random one from each jar every month and that's  what i will get you guys to vote on every month okay so i have officially prepared  my three bucket lists we've got   countries with a population of over 30 million  countries with a population under 8 million and   then the ones in between so these i've chosen  about 27 of each of that range and they're all   ready to go now this is how we're going to choose  the country for each month of 2021 so we'll start   with january now so i'm going to rustle it around  shake it up and then find one i'm not looking   okay so the first one is malaysia the  next one is gonna be shake shake shake   and then got one and i'm not looking belgium and  then the third one from our little countries is   not looking not looking it's like  picking secret santa it's lots of fun   and we've got uruguay uruguay uruguay uruguay  there you go so there are three choices okay   so i'm really excited about this i think this  is going to be a really nice change and i'm   i hope you're as pumped as i am um so i've got  three countries malaysia belgium and uruguay   so please leave me a comment down in the  description box to help me choose which one   and let's see what we can figure out  and learn about this country together   um thank you for watching and i hope you  enjoyed and i'll see you next week bye
