[Music] this is my 2016 subaru sti and it is an awesome street car i've been daily driving it for about a week or two now and it's been amazing but it is missing a few things so we're gonna get into some modifications today mostly cosmetic modifications not gonna do too much to the engine because it is a subaru and subaru's don't let engine mobs but before i continue rambling let's just go ahead and drive right into it we got a ton of stuff to do we gotta get started [Music] all right we're gonna kick things off with looking underneath the car because i've never been under this car yet and hopefully it's all dry and everything's good but who knows could be something leaking could be a panel missing we'll find out a multi-link rear suspension which is kind of funky i don't think i've had a car that has multi link my forester had the mcpherson in the rear so this is a little different all right we are about the transmission is dry which is good usually when it leaks it leaks out of either this pan or this spot here skid plate's still good there's a little hole here missing from probably some extra rallying just some subaru things there nothing to be concerned about yeah okay all in all everything's in the shape that i expected so that's great nothing wrong should probably change the oil though let's start with that [Music] oh that is one crushed crush washer oh pretty black yeah that needed to be done [Music] doing a little change on the super it's a real clean job real clean job make sure that's snug so i can't get it off next time [Music] right where i thought it would be so i'm going to give it a little splash more it should be good [Music] cob i love you but i think this looks tacky in the engine bay i'm sorry it's gotta come out is it clean under oh no it's not clean under there you put it on when the car was dirty [Music] oh man i have been looking to remove these things for a while i don't like it they're not oem looking also it is really affixed on there [Music] all right now the last thing we're going to remove off this car are the old og sti wheels don't think it suits the look of this car and i got something a little bit better for it however he's got these like lock lug nuts and i don't have the key so i'm going to use this irwin bolt extractor on each individual one to get these off it should work but it's going to be annoying [Music] enter volksy 40s with no tire on it yet we'll get to it that looks good tons of clearance on the inside it does look like it pokes out a lot we're gonna want to add a lot of camera to get that to tuck in but clears the brakes that's a good look it's a good look the e40s do fit up which is good but we gotta mount the tires to them so we're gonna hold off on that uh we're gonna do the bumper while we're still up here on the front end i have a jdm sti front grille that'll just give this a much cleaner look it's also brand new so it'll be literally cleaner then i also have some led turn signals from i think it's super speeds um makes it so we'll be able to put that in there and that'll get rid of that little orange um they'll be led so again a little bit more of a cleaner look so yeah we got to take the bumper off for that so let's go ahead and do that so obviously the top one is the old one here uh this is just a little bit of a smoother design it's kind of the honeycomb all the way around and the usdm one kind of has this like top piece i guess that splits it it looks a little bit more cluttered in my opinion this one just looks a little bit more clean maybe i'll swap over that sti logo too i should probably do that it's an sti we gotta represent it right no more sti all right that's all it is it's interesting i wonder all the wx guys put these on how's it look yeah i can't see it [Music] all right we have the old turn signal out and we have the new led turn signal i think the led one just looks better which is kind of the whole reason we're doing this also this has got like that reflective orange this doesn't reflect orange until it's on so when you actually turn your blinker on it'll turn orange just a cleaner look a little nicer look it's gonna make the front end look a little bit cleaner in general oh dear [Music] [Music] the sti type ra has carbon fiber mirrors pretty sure it's an overlay from the factory and i have secured myself some carbon fiber overlays as well it'll look pretty similar to the type ra and i think that looks pretty awesome so we're going to clean the surface here and then it 3m tapes itself on i legitimately don't know what this is this is like the the cleaning packets that come in the thing if you ever question if these carbon fiber mirrors are jdm or not [Music] all right the suspension that we're going to go with on this car are the fortune auto 500s and on other cars we've been running the 510s but that's because they're more track oriented cars this car is going to be more of a street oriented car so i want the 500s va chassis are known for being pretty stiff from the factory and i have what i've just discovered some lowering springs on this car so it's even stiffer so we're gonna swap those out with these these are an 8k front 8k rear because the rear is a multi-link suspension i had to order some rear camber arms they look very much like oem which i like because again trying to keep that like sleek look but there's this notched little piece right here to allow for some camber adjustment getting a little long-winded and hopefully when i put these on i'll lose my breath entirely [Music] [Music] yeah it's actually like perfect we didn't actually have to add very much camber at all really just kind of worked out it measures at 2.7 degrees of camber which is a lot for a street car but still like really mild for a track car if this were going on track i'd put it at like four but if it's on the street i'd put it at like 1.5 so you know i guess that's kind of a good compromise the inside of the tire will wear out faster on the street because i'm mostly driving in a straight line on the street but got that fitment though [Music] the rear suspension is a lot easier than the front because it's multi-link there's just this bolt on the bottom and then two bolts on the top and the suspension is basically out however we're going to replace this lower bar with the camber arm obviously it looks very oem the only difference really is this slot here on the end that'll give us some camber adjustment to be able to push the bottom end out so we're gonna do all this at the same time just kind of remove the bar and the suspension together put the new stuff in good to go [Music] how can a 2016 car it's only five years old be so like crusty already jeez alright well time for not christy [Music] all right now that we're done with the suspension the next step would be to put the wheels on and get the alignment set however i just sent the wheels off to get the tires mounted so we can't do that right now so we're gonna move on to something else while we wait for that you might notice the sti rear spats on the car which i really like the way they look but you might also notice something else is missing which is the side skirts and front lip thankfully what's just arrived in the mail are some side skirts and a front lip these are the sti factory option they're abs plastic not carbon fiber because i didn't want to have carbon fiber hanging off the front lip because i will scrape it but this should look pretty good on the car and complete that look all the way around so we have a nice little black trim on the bottom of the car let's go ahead and get it installed the side skirts are not sti actually these are based on the charge speed style which i felt was like a just a cleaner look it's very simple it is literally just straight the sti one seemed like it was a little bit too busy this one just seems a little bit more simple this is this is so fresh look at that has great fitment and it like lines up perfectly nice look at these wheels they look so good they're leaning better on the car i would date these i would date these wheels but i'm not going to i'm gonna put them on the car [Music] now that we've gotten the wheels mounted they look great but they're very aggressive 10 inches on this chassis is a lot most people run nine and a half as a result i am going to have to roll this rear fender let's get rolling all right we are finally done with the alignment and there is one more thing that we need to do to this car mechanically speaking and that is the radiator subarus are known for having uh pretty bad radiators because they have plastic in tanks on the ends of them and i have blown two super radiators one on my spec b and one on the forester that i had so i'm gonna preemptively change this radiator out because i don't like plastic end tanks and you can guess what brand we're going to use [Music] so [Music] all right we have done a ton of stuff to this car and we finally got it on the ground i think it looks awesome i am really happy with how it turned out but we're not done we've done everything to the outside of the car and now it's time to go to the interior let's do some interior stuff all right well there's a couple things we're doing to the interior uh but nothing too crazy the first of which is the steering wheel the factory steering wheel is all right but this one's kind of dirty and the leather is like pretty hard it's not a very soft leather i don't really like the shape of these notches either so i wanted to go with something different and thankfully because it's a subaru there's like a million different options so i went with this one which is a softer leather on the side perforated leather with alcantara on the top and the bottom slight flat bottom to it um but the the shape of over here by the hands is a little bit more comfortable and i think it looks a little bit better and also the alcantara matches the alcantara in the car you know on the seat and the door panel and everything so i think it's going to look more oem than the oem steering wheel and it will be more comfortable so uh yeah i'm excited to put this in obviously all the center sections of the oem steering will transfer over so i'm going to have all the same functions and uh yeah give me a good time let's go ahead and swap that over [Music] and that's it we have a steering wheel oh yeah that's comfortable dang sweet all right i think that steering wheel looks great really excited to drive with it but we got one more item and it's in the trunk this is probably my favorite thing i've saved it for last because it's my favorite thing this is an oem trunk hook that mounts up underneath here somewhere like that and when you go grocery shopping you just flip this guy down and you hang your grocery bags from this hook so your groceries don't go flying around in the trunk when you're done you just fold it back up it's genius oh yeah subaru really knows what's up [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] you
