Building REAL LIFE Mario Karts At CrunchLabs

welcome back to Crunch lives I'm Mark Rober and today we're here for a very special reason Science Bob that's right Mark today is our first ever triple real challenge H so basically you know those really fun boxes that come to your porch every month well all those are designed with the help of some really smart and talented product designers so my name is Evan and I designed the propeller launcher toy I am Danielle and I'm the lead designer on the buzzer beater toy hi my name is Jack I'm the lead designer on the Disco Dynamo toy my name's Danny I'm the lead designer on the extending Grabber toy now it is impressive to see what they can do with those monthly build boxes but today we're really putting those skills to test because they've got to take this boring old crazy cart and turn it into something extraordinary let's see the teams all right well we've got our two teams here out of curiosity which one he's going to win definitely us yeah I'm not going to trust we're not taking the high road why do we make them spin first cuz they're so confident we have three wheels here let's seal your fate what you're going to be designing with the wheel spin on three 1 2 3 okay so it looks like for team trash chalk their theme is Mad Max their build boox physics concept is linkages and their special item is fire extinguisher all right team timid Step Up 3 2 1 your guys theme is F1 with projectile motion personal favorite and your special item is a rubber chicken this could get interesting okay well the rules are simple you got 24 hours to make this a thing what are you guys doing the clock started go oh an early lead wow it's just so satisfying all right so Mad Max I'm thinking spiky aggressive definitely I think my team will win because we've got the intensity kind of thinking like fire extinguisher out the back just shooting clouds oh yeah we got kind of lucky because a fire extinguisher is pretty cool on its own this just wraps right back here we need to test this oh God wait was that dry ice it was forming we probably don't want to spray our opponents with dry eyes you know we want to confuse the opponent and not cryogenically freeze them 3 2 one okay definitely stole out some dry ice but it was less you're not injured you're alive I think we're going to be raining some snow down on the opposing team I got to find something where are your legs is going to go don't worry about it we have skinny legs sure we're incorporating projectile motion into our build we have like catapult pull and release exactly we've decided to build a big catapult arm so that we can just load whatever we want into it so we've been tasked with using Rubber Chickens so we need to figure out the most annoying ways to use them there's going to be stuff all over the floor maybe we could go get the third C and just drive it over stuff and see what stops it I'm just going to make a little puddle of these guys yeah start with the foam well looks like you guys are getting ready to test something we are I don't think it noticed him I'd be curious to try the bouncy balls maybe bounc balls my teammate Evan is a bit of be let's say an adrenaline junkie I think the fact that you almost crashed into the wall is a good sign we have skid mark okay yeah I think we're I think we're on this I think so that shoots really well hey Friendly Fire the time French is pretty big it's it's a lot to get that a short amount of time so we've got the gas pedal and then we've got the chicken petal yes the biggest goal with these chicken mechanisms is distraction Jack is owning the Catapult design God maybe around 10 12 in I'm working on this little chicken launcher so we're going to load up all these little finger chickens so we have like 10 going at once all right a catapult very nice let's see what we get okay so all right you hit the country camera crew look at this that's our mini chicken launcher we actually haven't tested it yet oh yeah that's pretty good that was excellent yes that was sick let's go so the things we've got the obvious one the fire extinguisher right and then we're going to have the dumper that Dan's working on right now it's going to dump obstacles out the back I think it's time for a test I think Mark would want the cars to be as chaotic as possible the test right now is to see if pulling this lever is going to release all these bouncy balls oh that's going to be so good we can fill that with so much stuff so much I think we're going to try to keep some things secret from the other team so that they don't know what to expect oh that's a good idea we realized we probably should have more rear-facing Weaponry it's on my head cuz they're going to be behind us we're not nervous about the other team no I think that I think they're scared I think we should try it oh yeah that's that's definitely tight all right here we go oh oh no oh my God that was insane we found these cans of Silly String so I've rigged it up in the back here on the front we've got our plow so we don't have to worry about whatever they drop I'm working on a little holder to hold these chickens if you pull it this is like our second reload just found this mesh to hopefully scoop anything out of the way all right look at this not much time left are you going for any style [Music] points I we could always do more [Music] okay yeah dude that looks [Music] awesome this is basically done right yeah this body panel fits clock's ticking you still working oh yeah I think they've actually made their cart worse all right time's up stop okay starting over here with F4 what are we looking at this is the cockadoodle Zoom it is an F1 themed race car with Weaponry we have the chicken finger flinger several Silly String cans rigged up in the back scissors cut the string release the ping pong balls all right well that's going to be tough to beat Team madmax what's going on here this is the Bone Crusher we've got the ball bearing dropper coming around the back there is a dump truck unleashes a bunch of bouncy balls we've got the smokescreen fire extinguisher and then the Nerf gun [Music] all right well I suppose at this point there's only one thing left to do ladies and gentlemen start your engine it had all come down to this and as I prepared to kick off the first ever crunch laabs triple spin challenge Danielle and Evan prepared to race the first three laps of the six laap race how soon until one got the lead on your mark get set go immediately turns out oh start from and right away way Danielle took advantage of her lead I raced upstairs to watch the race from safe distance while Danielle made a shocking realization I don't have my scissors at which point Evan took advantage of her oversight but his Surefire Nerf aame they dude left too got him no closer to the lead oh no where' my sisss go oh what's going on here thank you there was a scissors hand [Music] off there we go Evan's shark tooth wedge successfully deflected the bouncy balls as he then pulled the Nerf trigger in retaliation oh wow we're in the crossfire his luck changed when Danielle spun out on her own bouncy balls on lap three yeah let's go let's go drop it drop it right here right here let's go let's go get the madmax gang had the lead as they switched drivers go go go go and as Danny pulled ahead go go go go go go go Jack prepared everything he would need to catch up oh that's quite the lead like the Super Chicken catapult never mind but then Danny got cocky as he fired a smoke screen blast at Jack which actually knocked himself off course which meant Jack now had the lead I need speed but a little bit of nitro boost me mad m Max was gaining as they entered the final lap nice driving yeah just as he was about to pass Jack we had a disastrous double spin out in the final turn it was anybody's race now I sprinted down to make the final call as team F1 took the lead again trying to cement their lead with some Silly String to Danny's face but Danny was wasn't going down without a fight the only question now would it be enough to win no oh no nope definitely not wow congratulations team F1 prize wise uh your next
